  1. The funniest passages: It won’t push your machine very hard PvP is brilliant
  2. Better score would have been 8.0 Presentation The dialogue and story is why you should want to play The Old Republic, and it’s presented excellently. The UI needs much more flexibility though. 7.0 Graphics The game looks polished but somewhat outdated. Overall the textures are medium resolution at best and it does not run well on medium or lower end machines. 9 Sound Voice acting is superb throughout but gets repetitive later on, the orchestral sound-track makes the experience a lot better, though there's a severe lack of ambiance outside of combat. 7.5 Gameplay PvE is brilliant, and the branching story is wonderfully complex. Classes are well-designed. A little quest variety wouldn’t go astray, though. The current interface lag makes gameplay feel sluggish and has a negative impact on PvP. 7.0 Lasting Appeal Hundreds of hours of content at launch for just a single character. Much more end-game content will have to be added to keep a solid playerbase. 7.5 Good (Out of 10)
  3. This being the only actual difference between the two classes.
  4. So tonight I found myself getting ported to the character screen 10 times in a row over a period of 30 minutes, trying to join a random warzone, but I keep getting ported straight to the character screen. Only happened rarely before this dreaded patch. To make matter worse, general chat is currently spammed with people experiencing the same issie, EU PVP Bloodworty server. Relogging didn't work and it happens from different planets as well as my own ship. It's already bad enough there's hardly any content at lvl 50, but now I really got nothing to do... All I'm asking for though is for BW to release an emergency patch to fix this gamebreaking issue. (and while they are at it, introduce dual spec as well asap)
  5. No http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2011/02/02/ea-star-wars-tor-did-not-cost-300-million/1 And http://www.vg247.com/2011/05/05/analyst-swtor-could-cost-ea-as-much-as-80-million-to-develop/ Also http://www.diedagain.com/final-cost-for-swtor-could-run-to-tune-of-100-million
  6. Although I agree with you mostly, my opinion is a little bit less negative. I currently have a lvl 48 char and rolled a bounty hunter alt. On my main character I haven't skipped any of the conversations yet by using spacebar, unless the voice acting sentence was an earlier used one. Unfortunately there is quite a lot of that, but that's something for another thread. Anyway, on my alt, the class quest is obviously totally new content. However the rest of the content and the quests, which is 95%, is exactly the same as my main character. So rolling 4 characters on the same side is entirely unrealistic and repetitive. One could argue to roll a new character on the opposing faction. That would mean playing without your mates or guildmembers, as you'll probably won't be able to convince any of them to join. Concluding they better add more end game content soon, cause it only takes 4 weeks for a casual player to get to level 50.
  7. I actually started playing an alt about a week ago, and 95% of all quests I do is exactly the same as my main character. In other words the only valid option would be to reroll to the other faction, but end up playing without your mates. So your comment is moot.
  8. Seeing as Nar Shadda takes longer to load on my SSD than it takes to boot windows (22 seconds) I certainly agree with the OP.
  9. I'm level 48, haven't skipped a single dialogue yet, work 40 hours a week, but had several days off because of christmas and newyears. Level 20 can be done in 3 days, level 50 in 3 weeks, even for a casual player such as myself. I'm currently rolling an alt cause I read there's not a lot to do at level 50. I do hope they introduce some new content in 3 to 4 weeks, else that character will be level 50 as well with nothing to do.
  10. When you get to about level 35 the conversations start getting really repetitive and annoying and you use the spacebar a lot. At first I was amazed by the awesomeness and quality of the voiceacting, but now I feel it's an annoying timesink. I really started to take on the motto of: less talk, more pew
  11. So I got lvl 400 in artificing today. In total it cost me over 300k worth of new recipes and 100k on buying mats and sending pets for missions. Now I have the ability to craft a few epic lvl 48 items, that require quite a lot of blue mats, which only drop from lvl 50 heroic dungeons. But those dungeons themself, or PVP allow me to get better items for free? I feel terribly robbed cause my entire investment is totally useless.
  12. Below you'll find a screenshot of where the class quest location is on Alderaan. Currently the quest locator is bugged and doesn't appear. Location The screenshot doesn't have a spoiler.
  13. It's funny people compare it to Rift, cause that's a much more demanding game than SWTOR. Anyway, GPU overheating is simply caused by the amount of power coursing through the GPU. A game that uses many particle effects and high resolution shadows, like for instance Rift, demands a lot of performance and thus a lot of power. There are a few ways to solve this: Play the game on lower graphics settings, especially particle effects, shadows and AA are demanding. Cap your FPS, either by enabling Vsync or using a 3rd party program for it. Buy a better, high performance graphics card, that's manufactured to deliver high performance for longer periods of time. MSI for instance sells cards that have better after market coolers. Additionally I see many people having performance issues and overheating, are playing on a laptop (eg. 460M). Though some laptops advertise to be able to run a game and possibly have the specs to do so, they are simply not made to deliver the amount of performance that the game demands.

  15. The game changes the FOV (field of view). In most games you can set the FOV to a specific amount in eg. settings.ini file. However adjusting the FOV on specific occurances is probably coded into the game's engine and not moddable. BW/EA will need to implement a feature in the options, but I've never ever seen any developer do this, so I'm afraid you're gonna have to get used to it. Unless someone else has a solution ofc.
  16. The simple reason why a dual spec is needed is because of the Trinity system. To successfully complete heroics and flashpoints from level 20 onwards, you need people fulfilling certain roles. Most people are specced as dps for questing and leveling, so groups are not happening or people have to spend an increasing amount of cash to respec. Either way because of the trinity system, the game is not as good as it can be without a dual spec.
  17. On high settings it does as well, so what's your point?
  18. Tatooine, Taris and Alderaan are, although big, not really open worlds. There are way too many conveniently placed mountain ridges and ruins, which gives each of these planets a very linear and confined feel. Hoth is actually a pretty open world, but also very barren, so hardly anything to explore.
  19. I don't mind someone needing it when noone else does. But if someone needs on an item for their companion, when a player in the group actually needs it = ninja
  20. You get rested and this grants you bonus XP for some percentage. The longer you are logged out, the more bonus you get. It's certainly useful.
  21. Since your post indeed turned into a wall of ranting text without much constructive criticism I'll post a short response to some aspects you mentioned. SWTOR is the easiest MMO ever launched. All quests are handed on a golden plate, all heroics and flashpoints are straight forward tank and spank encounters. Crafting and gathering can be done while afk, cash is no issue whatsoever. And then on topic: I'm a casual gamer, I work 40 hours a week and have a social life, but I'm level 42, cause even at my level each quest hand in grants 10% of a level. And on top of that I can do the space dailies, PVP dailies and bonus quests & series for loads more XP. I will probably be level 50 in a week and probably have to roll an alt to keep playing the game.
  22. Alright cheers, good thing I have plenty of cash then, however I prefered to have spend it on gear.
  23. Speeder piloting: Do you need to have rank 2 in order to buy rank 3? Or can I just skip buying rank 2 and wait till level 50 to buy rank 3.
