  1. Definitely something wrong with the server. I finally got to the patch level and when I went to join the game it crashed.
  2. Now that the latest expansion is nearing it's next chapter, I'd like to see some of the level fast-tracking end. Remove shuttling to the Heroics for everyone who hasn't made it to Odessan through the storyline, and make Odessan closed to everyone else. I'd like to see the legacy bound slot-able armors be made bind on equip so we don't have to dedicate a lot of bank space in the hope of putting together a set. The blue legacy gear should be trade-able or removed from the game. Either way will help to generate interest in the GTM again, which is largely useless as most people I know tend to vendor all green and blue gear drops, or RE it on the rare chance you can get build resources from it. I'd really like the crafting system to be treated as worthwhile instead of treated like a unwanted uncle by the developers. I don't mind simplifying the system, but making it two or three times as difficult to make things then destroying the GTM so it is nearly worthless to make anything is pretty bad. Finally, I'd like to see less content that caters to large professional guilds. Crafting of the most advanced items should not be dependent on running operations, or dozens of flashpoint runs. I'm not saying make it easier, just make it accessible to people who don't want to be part of a large guild, or don't want to waste days trying to get an Op of random people started. Mostly, return the early game to what it was, and make the new expansion something to be earned after the long climb to 60. It will help the game, and it will help your bottom line as buying a level 60 token is still an option. There are already plenty of people playing the expansion now so there is no reason to make it easy to get to 60. As for the level sync hating whiners, suck it. Everyone should have to fight to gather resources.
  3. Now that we have companions crossing the factions barrier, there are customizations that we cannot get. While I could suggest that all common customizations be added to all vendors it would be easier to make them cross faction as the easiest solution.
  4. If an item can be reverse engineered it should break down into level appropriate pieces. I'm tired of RE'ing something to get nothing but a note that says there is no reverse engineering template. This should have been a no-brainer but apparently it wasn't. I would also like to see all appropriate gear RE'able. In other word even if you can't get a schematic you should be able to get constituent pieces. Every piece of armor should be able to be recycled by an Armormech or a Synthweaver, Every ranged weapon should be recyclable by a Armstech, etc.
  5. I have been thinking about this for a while now, and there is a simple way to do this without a massive reworking of the code provided that they haven't permanently changed all the coding in the companions (if they simply disabled it should be simple to enable it again). An item to slot on a companion that adds to the stats of the companion. Or a radio button on the companion GUI. That way you can set different companions to different strengths.
  6. I would really like to see this as part of the end game story, a mission to find and rebuild an old hulk. You could have a number of derelict hulls to choose from, and you could walk through the interior spaces to see if you like the floor plan. Everything could look old rusted or discolored, with a animated scene showing everyone working to rebuild it. Afterward there could be a big reveal ... TADA! You could of course opt for an upgrade to your old ship if you like it. Somewhere along the way, it is easy to see why you'd need a new ship.
  7. SCORPIO used a techstaff, and the Codex says so I didn't just make it up. I just remember letting her tank for me. Now she uses a blaster rifle. I don't care whether it's a techstaff or rifle, though I prefer her to melee as there are tons of ranged weapon companions, but either the Codex is wrong or the new patch recreated her differently so either she or it needs to be edited.. I'd like to see her with a melee weapon again personally.
  8. As I have said before I have no problem with the idea of being able to reduce the power of your companions on your own. I am against it being a universal nerf as I see no reason for it. Most importantly I think actually implementing your original idea isn't as simple as you think it is. Only the programmers will know so unless I hear otherwise I will continue to think so. I am a programmer and I have edited a lot of old programs, and sometimes initial design considerations make the seemingly simple nearly impossible without a ground up redesign. I am actually impressed with how they have modified the game over the past few years, and I am looking forward to what they have next.
  9. Perhaps it was unclear, because it is part of the story arch it would not be a daily or a weekly. As we all know however, with multiple characters we tend to repeat a lot of quests. This quest could be done with a number of characters, but with enough variation it will appear to be unique every time. It is simply an alternative to simply watching mini-movies to get information about what is going on. As a group quest it will only add to the story, not prevent you from moving on. I could sit in your quest log as long as you want it to. It simply has to unlock at some time during the story. With four different base classes and the large number of possible companions it would be very difficult to see every possible result. So, even if you did the quest daily it may be a very long time before you saw every possibility, and you would likely only do so if you kept a record and managed to get every result you needed. Now that you have me thinking about it though it could be an Odessan weekly quest. More to the point, if you can't see how it would be different than spamming the same quest over and over again then you really don't understand what I suggested.
  10. Reductio ad absurdum is ridiculing an argument by manufacturing a false but seemingly true ridiculous conclusion to a position. The first sentence of the quote fits. I wasn't originally going to point it out, but who determines how a game is intended to be played? Even the devs have little control or say on that.
  11. By Social Missions I mean a multi-person dialog, that has a goal. Most of the story is simple exposition, but it doesn't have to be. It could be acted out like the lead in to accepting missions. For Example: The group meets at a bar, the focus shifts to a group of companions with the players directing the conversation. The first choice is 1) to ask a question of one of the other companions 2) tell a story 3) reveal knowledge. As is normal the speaker is randomly determined, so the dialog could be replayed many times without repetition. Each stage of the conversation should be different, so a story doesn't get repeated for instance. After 6 random selections the mission ends. This would be complex to map out, but would be a great way to let the players know more about the personalities of the companions they adventure with. This can be done with the characters as well, but you'd have to use titles instead of names such as Major or Trooper, Agent, Jedi, Consular, Sith or Wrath, Inquisitor, Hunter, and Captain. I'm trying to resurrect the neglected social system. It has a lot of potential, but it needs help.
  12. Thanx, I haven't played it either so I had no idea. This is my first Star Wars game, and it was the stories that I really like. Unlike many I like them all, though at my age I'm used to not expecting anything original.
  13. Reductio ad absurdum aside, I'm all for people being able to have more control of their experience, but sometimes what seems simple isn't. What you're asking is to be able to scale down your companions and not affect anyone else's play style. In an MMO that's supposed to be simple? I'd even be for being able to scale back my personal max level lower than the sync level for each world if I thought it could easily be done. I've said my piece and tried to help you find new options on how to make the game feel challenging again. I actually like the idea, but only devs know how hard it will be.
  14. I thought you said you have given your characters the best gear you could, if so then you should be more powerful then them most of the time. I don't play as much as many people and I can't afford the best gear, but I do well enough. Some of the consulars and inquisitors are a little squishy, but in your role you should still be able to beat your companion. I haven't maxed out any of my companions influence yet, but some are in the mid twenties and I could take them in a fight. Healers are kind of a special case, since you have to compare them with healing characters that don't hit as hard. Of course if your companion is healing then they are only helping to do damage, and they aren't as good at that if you are actually taking damage. If however you have maxed out everything on your companions then you have created the situation yourself, but you probably haven't so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. On the matter of the heroics they have all been scaled to be 2+ heroics. Many of them were 4+ before and so yeah they were harder, that has nothing to do with your companions power level. Even before there were a few 4+ that were ridiculously easy for those who can stealth. This is a Catch-22 for the devs. A bunch of people hate level sync and want to feel godlike, and a bunch think the companions are overpowered, and they don't have a challenge. I can't imagine that they'll be able to get a good idea of what to do from this.
  15. It takes some getting used to, but the crew skill window is just as easily brought up as the companions window. Perhaps if you can design an elegant solution and post it then the devs could see what you had in mind. As it is there is a lot of information in the companions window. I suppose a crew skill indicator that changed color when they were busy would be nice, maybe the companion name changes color instead of adding an indicator. Canceling would still be done in the crew skill window, but that's not a big deal. On the character/companion window a rank number would be preferable to the tiny bar. Not a bad idea.
  16. If I am not flagged PvP then I should not have to turn off auto-target to not accidentally attack a person flagged as PvP. If I am not flagged PvP auto-target shouldn't target another player. If I have chosen to PvP then and only then should auto-target work on other players who are also flagged. If I decide to manually target a PvPer then that is my choice and the result is my fault. I like PvP in general, but not so much in this game. I am not going to sit back and defend people tricking people into PvP just so they can gank them. For anyone who thinks that's a fun thing for you to do, I say grow up and stop being a douchebag.
  17. I've said it in nearly every thread I have seen like this. If I could make it so you couldn't pick up any treasure or crafting materials I wouldn't have any problem with removing level sync. As long as it is as much a challenge to you as it is to anyone of the appropriate level on the world in question to gather resources then all is fair. Level sync is long overdue. If all you want to do is feel godlike and not be able to gather any resources then I have no problem with you being able to do so.
  18. I say it's mostly a style of play issue, if you only deal with one group of mobs at a time then maybe it is a little over powered. However if you decide to push the limits and drag multiple groups together then you have a challenge, and you get the benefit of finishing missions faster. This can be done with both ranged and melee easily, just run into a group and force charge another on your warrior/knight. I do it all the time and it is a challenge. I still rarely die, but then that's not my companions power level, I'm just used to playing that way. You're a smart person, just think outside the box. Your character is the main attraction, still way more powerful than your companion, but you are both heroes. You should be able to crush a large group of enemies.
  19. Crafting as a whole has been significantly devalued anyway, and it's nearly useless to hope they will fix it. The old recipes are in a completely unorganized archive folder, which is annoying as all hell. Add to that my rank 500 cybertech had nearly REd enough stuff to have most armoring recipes at purple, the value of which is incalculable and constituted the bulk of her skill being a prime piece of item modification. All of that stolen by the latest expansion. The market for anything but the most valuable gear is practically non-existant, and the current methods of obtaining the most valuable gear benefit only the large guilds. I'm going to stop now as I don't want to wallow in negativity. I'll think hard on it, and see if I can post a possible fix for the horrible crafting system. The market is another issue, and not likely to be fixed by reworking the crafting system.
  20. They can easily fix this by giving you another opportunity in a later chapter, so I wouldn't count it out yet. I also wouldn't count out being able to ss-romance older companions. Now that it is part of the game there are likely going to be many new options.
  21. I prefer the conversations to be voiced, but I can deal with the alliance part being like it is. Why the odd format though? Why not have short responses and keep the round selector? It just doesn't look like it's finished the way it is, because we've gotten used to something else. I would like to believe that they have a full script for each voice in the game, and if a specific voice actor is unavailable to work on expansions then they can replace that character's voice object should they not be able to find a sound-alike. I know that would be too much to ask, but it would be nice to know they had some fore-thought along those lines.
  22. My point exactly, and why I have no problem with level sync. Also, the only reason to want to remove it is for free looting and materials gathering. I have no problem with people having to compete on relatively level terms with those who are questing and trying to improve skills.
  23. The new craftable weapons have no slot for crystals, and a number of new items since the new patch don't have them either.
  24. Why collect crystals if we can't use them to alter the appearance of our weapons? I just want all new gear to conform to the same old standard.
