Your extremely long post hit the nail on the head. Every paragraph was exactly what I was thinking. So far, not enjoying this new story. Game is ridiculously easy now, which has sucked alot of the fun out of it.
What might have made the story worthwhile: Have all 8 character classes present for each chapter, and have to split up to perform 8 different tasks to advance the storyline. Have Republic and Imperial players able to form single groups to do chapters of the story.
Hypothetical Chapter: Smuggler has to go slice a computer to break down security while the trooper holds back advancing guards, bounty hunter has to go retrieve a technician to gain access to a main computer, operative has to eliminate an overseer that is trying to stop them from a control room, sith inquisitor has to cover another hallway where tons of droids are flooding in, jedi knight keeps an elite guard busy while a sith warrior destroys a secret weapon sent in to stop the whole thing, and the consular protects and shields one or more important NPCs vital to the entire mission succeeding. All 8 working together to bring down the system, and they all converge at the end to 8-player onslaught a giant raid level boss, in similar fashion to the Revan fight, but with real players.
Instead SWTOR has turned into a One Player glorified chatroom, why are we paying for server access?
