  1. Getting invites to endgame content depends on the player not the character. The only time I've ever seen a specific class requested is a sniper for the first boss in EV, otherwise it's all about looking for good players. People who can pay attention, be on top of what needs to be done, know their specs/rotations, etc...will get you a lot farther than worrying about class make-up. My main is a Veng Juggy. I don't get invited to raids because of my class, I get invited because people know that I am a good player and that I can be relied upon.
  2. Well the fact that this person considers having mismatched talent trees and a crafting system where all the crafting skills except biochem are useless "perfectly fine" is a pretty good indicator that we shouldn't be taking design advice from them.
  3. Every class forum has at least a few threads remarking about how gimped/underpowered/useless that class is. It's easier to say the class is broken then for a person to say they just suck at playing it. When the game came out everyone cried about Marauders being useless and the worst pvp class in the game...a couple months later (with no changes made at all) the marauder is cried about as being OP in pvp....Moral of the story is that for the most part very few people on these forums know what they are talking about. People's views about what class is best in pve/pvp are going to be vastly different given the variables of gear, spec, and skill. Best to just pick the class/story you like best...As 1.2 shows, none of the classes will be the same as they are now down the road. I don't know if you are more of a pvp or pve person, but I've done quite well in pve as a DPS juggy. Managed to beat both 8man nightmare and 16man HM.
  4. Gotta' admit, I'm a bit concerned they are paying money to have people design these kinds of armor for what is supposed to be the most high end gear in the game...Some of them look kinda cool, but really nothing inspiring or anything I would consider professional. Some of them (poor poor smugglers) are downright terrible.
  5. Yes buying a digital 60 day time "card" means that a code will be emailed to you, just give that code to your friend.
  6. While it always possible, I highly doubt we will see an option to change factions anytime soon (at least I hope not). But Bioware has said that the legacy system will provide incentives and extras to make leveling alts easier, including incentives to level alts on the opposite faction.
  7. Hardmode and Nightmare modes share the same loot tables, you can get Rakata weapons from both HM KP and NM KP.
  8. Be thankful he didn't let you come. Sounds like a scrub raid leader.
  9. Rotation should be Saber Throw > Charge > Sunder > Shatter > Impale > Force Scream. Forget Ravage (not set in stone, but you should make sure that Shatter, Impale, and Force Scream are always used as soon as they are off cooldown). Vicious Throw should also always be on cooldown once the mob is low enough health. The variability of the quality of gear people have at 50 is huge. Same goes for the gear of your group for any given flashpoint. To say every class is viable for HM's except juggernaut is ridiculous. I've seen every type of class struggle (effectiveness is up to the player, not the class, which means knowing what gear, specs, and rotations to use, also your ability to position yourself, to stay on the boss *keeping* up the rotation, and to stay alive. Having a rotation won't do any good, if you take several seconds to click your ability after GCD.) Every 1.5 seconds count in this game. Lastly how can you be sure it's your DPS that sucks? Maybe the other DPS is the one that sucks. I remember one time I did 2 HM false emp runs, one was with a sorc dps, the other with another juggernaut dps. The tank and healer were friends of mine, so everything was the same except the pug dps. We BLEW thru the instance with 2 juggies. With the sorc we struggled to not hit enrage timers.
  10. What is your Vengeance spec and rotation? I can say personally that I have done very well in both HM flashpoints and HM operations. I have all the HM's done, and sport a full set of Rakata Vindicator gear. I've 2-man'd HM BT with a tank friend and 2 healer companions, which means I was the sole dps more or less. We can do a hell of a lot dmg if you know how.
  11. hurrah reskinned ugly armor. Almost as lame as making tionese/columi/rakata all exactly the same but with different colors. almost.
  12. Honest question...what do you do in endgame PvE if you don't raid? There's dailies but the only point to credits I've seen is repairs and buying stims. There's HM flashpoints, but an operation is just 2 flashpoint groups working together, not really all that different and the HM FP's are harder than normal ops. I would personally like to see level 50 quest lines that are actually GOOD. None of this repeat the same tired collect x objects/ kill x mobs dailies you get that seem like nothing more than a test of one's patience. Something that is maybe completed over the course of several play sessions, with interesting characters and plot. Right now daily NPC's are nothing but mission boxes with character skins. The biggest disappointment so far is that you play through this awesome story and literally the second you hit 50, it all stops...completely. I barely log onto my 50 except to do a weekly raid with some friends and maybe a couple matches of pvp here and there...I still enjoy my alts, but on the other hand I don't even want to hit 50 on them because then I know they'll just get shelved.
  13. Well from reading this thread and a few others, here is a quick overview of what these changes mean: Juggernauts have been nerfed and they will now be overpowered. hurray4forums
  14. The PvE gear is definitely better for doing PvE. You lose out on a lot of extra stats on pvp gear because of the expertise. However some of the mods/enhancements for some columi pieces are pretty crappy. So you are best off taking the mods/enhancements that you do like and switching them out. (for example you have the columi gloves and pants, but the mods in the pants are crap while the ones in the gloves are good. Next time columi gloves drop, take them and move the mods from the gloves to the pants.)
  15. Enjoy the storyline and the planets you visit, that's really the main draw of the game. If emotes, seating, and chat bubbles are what's required for you to have fun I would suggest the Sims or Second Life.
  16. ....Oh the irony of your first sentence. The person was talking about competitive raiding...In which case your main tank isn't going to bounce out mid-raid unless it's an emergency. At this point you would either use your offtank (if this is 16man) or just call the raid. Few people would want to go through the trouble of waiting on a juggy or powertech dps to switch their specs, learn their rotations, learn the tank roles for the fight and then finally start the raid again. I can tell you this, in all my years of playing, I've never been in a serious raid group that took a hybrid class as dps on the off-chance that a tank or healer would drop out with no prior warning. Also your argument suggests that the ability to do damage is the only criteria to judge whether you should bring a long a pure dps class. It's been stated multiple times in this thread and hundreds of others why that is completely wrong.
  17. I for one love clickers...Pretty sure I just fought one on Voss the other day. Half the time they couldn't even use an ability since I was able to stay directly behind them and use all my abilities at the same time. It was quite hilarious.
  18. You kind of just have to play it by ear...If you can clear both normal mode Ops very easily then you are probably ready to start HM. It all just depends on how skilled the raid members are (do they bring stims/adrenals, have proper pve specs, and know their rotations?). It doesn't hurt to just go in an try HM one night. If you wipe horribly over and over then no harm done, just switch back to normal and continue as usual. Also, if people are still decked out in greens or blue/orange, then tell them to be running HM FP's when not raiding. It's the same level of gear you get from normal Ops.
  19. Using keyboard buttons to turn your character is like using the arrow keys to aim in an FPS.
  20. Easy: Hardmode Flashpoints, regular EV (8man) and regular Karagga's (8man) Medium: HM EV and KP (8man), normal EV and KP (16man) Hard: Nightmare EV and KP (8man) and HM EV and KP (16man) Hardest: Nightmare EV and KP (16man) This is how I rank the difficulty of the content based on my own personal experience. Note that 16man raids do not give you any better loot than you would get from the equivalent 8man, just more of it drops. To sum it up: Normal, Hard, and Nightmare are the difficulties available, 8man and 16man are the two possible raid sizes. You can do any combo of those difficulties and those group sizes. Flashpoints can ONLY be done with 4 people, no other choice there.
  21. Well based off several Council fights, where the Marauder and myself (Juggy DPS) had the same 100k hp mob, I would say Marauder can do slightly more damage, but not really enough to be noticeable. We have exactly the same gear (all rakata with columi implants) and in the two fights where I watched to see who finished first, we tied once, then he beat me by about 3 seconds. That's fine by me, I have no problem with any of the content including Nightmare mode. I have slightly better survivability (19k hp plus saber ward means I am one of the last alive when everything goes to hell) , plus an armor debuff that benefits the entire raid (awesome in 16man).
  22. By just playing...you really don't need that info, at least for this content. My group just cleared both EV and KP on 16man HM. The only people who have threat problems are those that jump in right along with the tank and just blowing all their cooldowns. There are a few fights where the tank has to stop fighting in order to move the boss around...we don't need some add-on to tell us what to do in order to keep threat under the tank's. You coordinate and talk to your raid members...When the tank isn't generating threat he lets us know, people who need it use threat reducers and reign back on the dps. While I haven't experienced Nightmare mode myself...there are a couple 8man groups in my guild that have cleared EV and KP, so obviously you don't need threat meters there either. So how do players coordinate better? By paying attention, using some common sense, and communicating. Not by having the numbers spit out by the computer.
  23. for the love of all things holy, we don't need crap like this. If it's REALLY that difficult for you...LEVEL UP! DING DING DING. The class quests don't scale to your level, so if you are having difficulty, just get a level or 2, or even 3, above your class quest. Easy as pie. This game is, for the most part, pretty freaking easy. Learn your specs, learn your rotations, during class quest fights there is no reason to not use every ability you have (CC, heals, shields, the long companion/self heal skill, kiting, w/e). The fact is, instead of just giving up right away and assuming that getting gear is the only way to beat your class quest, you should be making a post asking for help on the fight, looking for hints and tips, you know...actually *trying*.
  24. I could be doing a lot more DPS if they just took out cooldowns...Then I would be able to use my best abilities and not have to worry about the crappy off-cooldown ones. If only these cooldowns weren't a hindrance to my true DPS ability. Getting that speed kill would be so much easier!
