  1. I might be totally wrong here, apologies if so... but I believe escrow is only something you need if you are F2P or preferred, with a credit cap. Pretty sure escrow just exists as a sort of bank for non-subs, as the credit cap for them is pretty low. As a sub you can just mail your credits to whoever, so long as it's on the same realm faction doesn't matter. Pretty sure that's an accurate description of escrow, confident that someone will point it out if I'm wrong.
  2. Absolutely would roll a Jawa juggernaut. Leave it jawaspeak. JUST SHUT UP AND TAKE MY CARTEL COINS
  3. I'd vote shadow/assassin. Due to stealth & CC, you can usually sneak around and fulfill most 2/4HM requirements without breaking too much of a sweat, and you can flip between tank, dps or healer comp to either hold attention while you satisfy an objective, or slowly whittle down the kills you need while you keep stuff CC'd. That said I don't have any upper-level experience with any other tank types besides sin, so others may compensate for stealth/CC with just plain toughness.
  4. Obviously, people don't check the dates on threads before replying to them. And yeah, all those yellow posts here aren't from devs. They're just bots. But that said, yeah it'd be nice if they added it. Most of the pubs want a hood down option, and most imps want a hood up option...maybe one day.
  5. Ingame guild calender screen would be a cool feature to implement into the UI. Out of game calender....um..you want the game devs to develop some kind of app that works outside the game? You do know your PC has a calender already right? Why on earth does someone outside the guild need to read the MOTD? As far as I know it already works with new members... upon transferring to Harbinger from Dalborra and getting recruited, I got the MOTD right away on my fleet of alts. Would be cool, but it'd be a lot of work & there's a lot of other things I'd rather the dev team spent their time polishing up. Fluff is nice, but nowhere near as important as actual needs. Would be pretty cool, there's a lot of guilds with a huge roster. What would you need to keep ongoing notes for that can't be addressed in calender/guild MOTD/mail? Not a terrible idea, but also low priority. Especially if you're ok with it being out of game... you guys do have email addresses if it's that important. 'Warp-to-group' function would be pretty sweet, agreed. That would surely be cool, but like the other fluff, pretty low priority. There's lots of things EA/BW needs to polish up which would both directly and indirectly support guilds and general populace without creating a carbon copy of the WoW UI (and no I don't mean that offensively...but that's like the root of all your suggestions ) Someone else in this thread mentioned guild emblems/cloaks...Aion did this and it was an amazing hit, especially as they offered different level guild uniforms that got progressively nicer looking as your guild gained levels, with the final one being a very sleek and mean black hooded cloak with your guild emblem on the shoulder or back. I'd rather see that over all the other original suggestions above.
  6. WoW heirlooms are bind to account. Which means you can mail them to any of your characters on the server basically, and they automatically scale with level to be roughly equivalent to a blue-quality item at all times. It's handy, but TOR's legacy system is I think better than WoW's perks as far as guild bonuses and all that. It's a similar situation in that it encourages you to keep all your toons on the same realm at least, if not same faction/guild, to reap the bonuses that come along with longevity. Most of it is tied to achievements or some form of currency that you can't really amass until at or near endgame. Crafting in WoW is a pretty big deal, mostly because professions bring with them some form of bonus specific to that profession, like blacksmiths being able to add an extra gem slot (mod/enhancement) to gear, jewelcrafters able to craft gems (augments/mods) superior to what others can just buy, things like that. Like TOR, WoW's crafting can be really great at various brackets and then leave a little or a lot to be desired at various brackets, nothing's perfect. The point is while they're not the same (and again I like TOR's concept better, with Legacy) they are similar, and they are similarly not game-breaking if you decide you wish to reroll. I have to say...that the bolded part is actually an excellent idea. It would be more in line with the game's concept of Legacy and would rule out the need for arguments over single toon or entire Legacy transfers...just make it Legacy imo, give it some reasonable requirements that prevent constant hopping. +1 to you sir or ma'am.
  7. You do care. You asked the original question after all. You just didn't realize the answers weren't going to do you any favors. Perhaps knowing what you talk about outside your own little microcosm isn't just a bad idea now is it? All MMOs that have the service / need for the service handle it in exactly the same way. If you're talking about services rendered on a subscription-based multi-realm MMO, WoW IS the par for the course, as it's the best known and longest running in terms of raw sub numbers. It really doesn't matter if you don't like it (or in your case, don't know jack diddly about it), that ignorance is on you. And again, WoW's not the only comparison being made, you and the other whiners are just choosing to ignore the other games that have been mentioned repeatedly in this thread and the others like it. Nobody's being penalized for anything. If they had not made the decision to close APAC and offer free transfers, I'd still be playing on Dalborra, which is a ghost town btw, and was before the transfers, because I enjoy playing the game. Half the complaints I see here are people that decided they do/don't want to be on an RP/PvP/PvE realm and that's the source of their agony. If they didn't want to roll there, they shouldn't have. If they've changed their minds, cough up the CC/cash or reroll, simple. The one exception I could make (maybe) are for the EU realms. Someone that responded to me earlier mentioned they didn't get a choice due to mergers....if their current realm's a ghost town or there's some legitimate reason that impacts gameplay requiring a transfer, then those folks need to be taken care of. However I don't think they're dead realms, which is why it's not an option. People will continue comparing MMOs to WoW. When ESO comes out, it's going to be compared to WoW. Until WoW is dead and buried it will be the measuring stick for pricing and game flow. It doesn't matter if you don't like it or if you think it's not legit (by your own admission you don't even know what you're talking about in this regard). Welcome to life. Your definition of fair, and the business world's definition of fair, are rarely going to be the same thing. Especially in the entertainment industry, where the only real question is 'how much is it worth to you?'.
  8. Lol. Yes. Ever heard of heirlooms? Either you're ignoring that on purpose, or you don't know what you're talking about. Really, I love how comparing fledgling MMOs (which this one is) to tenured, veteran MMOs is apples & oranges only when it doesn't suit the bandwagon complaint. Yes, yes it does. As a matter of fact it requires it, unless you just choose to tunnel vision on two professions and one class (out of many, many possibilities). The guild level, battlenet connectivity, & heirloom feature play directly into keeping all your eggs in one basket so to speak, although bnet allows the eggs to roll out a little & still remain fun. Aaaaand while a bundled legacy discount would be pretty sweet, it's not something diabolical if they don't. That said, I'm sure they will eventually - even wow has a guild-move transfer, which is much more than a toon transfer but it's available if you wanna shell out for it. Insert Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka face here. Please, tell me more.
  9. And everyone else is not in agreement. Nobody made you roll on that realm. If it's not what you wanted, you really should have realized that however many levels or toons ago. But yeah, I know, I don't count, I'm a paid BW fanboy, there's no way I'd say this otherwise. All the others that feel the same way are bots/also paid. I like how WoW can only be mentioned in terms of competition (THE SKY IS FALLING WE ARE LOSING SUBS TO WOW) but is exempt from being used as a decent measure of things, which it is whether you like it or not. But ok, how about Aion, Rift, EvE...other games that offer transfer services, all of which have their own unique perks for keeping all your toons on the same realm/faction...all of which cost more to transfer. I'm sure we'll invent a reason why those don't count too. People on the wrong side of the ocean (cough, APAC) have free transfers available. I just moved all my toons from Dalborra to Harbinger last week. However people that aren't enjoying the game due to updates or 'whatever' are not going to suddenly enjoy the game because they're on a different realm. We could argue that queue times are a legitimate concern in this regard, however I've been levelling a new toon on Harbinger just to experience it...and between leveling from the ground up, and my 55s, I've never waited longer than about 30min as DPS for a FP, and my WZ queues are often instant, very quick if not instant. This is more of an advocate for cross-realm LFG/WZ than anything else. On the flip side, allowing people to move entire legacies for cheap/next to nothing will NOT keep server populations stable. If a lot of people rolled on servers that they regret being on, that's a lot of people that need to pony up or reroll. If a lot of people are burned out on the game, then that's a lot of people that need to find something else to do. All your friends quit and left you alone? Sucks to be you, but BW didn't make them quit. If you think they're right about quitting for whatever reason, why didn't you follow? Getting what you want in this month's pet complaint, just like all the previous months, is not the end-all fix for the game's problems. That said, keep on posting about it, I enjoy arguing with special people during slow times at work.
  10. It's a product and its value is determined by whatever marketing, in this case the median price for realm transfers compared to other MMOs that offer the service. I did mention in my very post that you quoted but apparently didn't read that a legacy bundle option would be neat, but again, hardly required. Much like Mickey-D's or whatever other analogy you could come up with, it's a convenience service that you don't need - if you wanna do it you'll do it, if you don't think it's worth doing you won't. Not a lot of room for discussion. Y'all can keep posting about it anyway, it'll just be yet another indignant demand made of an MMO service - completely unique and never-before-mentioned, like all the rest.
  11. Hello McDonald's. I'd like a big mac. And since I have a family legacy I'd like 5 more big macs for free. This shouldn't be a problem because I'm already here and you can just give me the other ones at the same time in the same bag. What, it's not free? You're a terrible company and my family will starve and it's your fault.
  12. True buzz words! Unless you think 'because I wanna' is a good enough reason to pay for one service and then expect to have it repeated several more times for free. In which case, serious entitlement issues brosephina.
  13. Not upset, just pointing out that OP is a special snowflake, because this thread has totally never been made before. Are you upset because I pointed this out? Are you about to go into a rant about how people that disagree should just stay off the public forums, and then offer nickel advice to the OP? Oh, lookit.
  14. And you still get double xp during the event. Just thought I'd mention that.
  15. Please explain how the company is screwing anything up? If you decide to transfer all your toons, you're going to pay for it. That's not broken, that's paying for the service. If they were to offer a legacy bundle of some sort that would be neat, but it's hardly required. Serious entitlement issues brosephina.
  16. This thread is completely new & unique.
  17. Pretty deep insight considering we're talking about a video game. I hope you don't own anything beyond what you need to survive, for if you do you're just as corrupt as all us other cronies. TOR could do a lot of things better, lots of polish needed and changes that they will recognize as necessary once they (EA/BW) have a little more longevity in the MMO world. Nontheless, I unsubbed WoW & EvE to play TOR solely, and am enjoying it immensely. You would think coming from WoW I would have pretty hefty expectation requirements, and I do, but I take TOR for what it is - a fun game to play. Since moving to Harbinger, I see hundreds and hundreds of people in fleet (spread over several instances of course) and usually several instances of planetside going on as well. If the game was as terrible for everyone as it is for the authors of these threads, every realm would worse than APAC. If it's no longer fun for you, unsub, or just take a break even. You know it's possible to play more than one game at a time right? If it's time to move on, then do so, but the pending breakup letters are just as much amusing to those that enjoy the game as they are RAWREVIDENCE to the complainer bandwagon.
  18. I leveled my sorc as dps (lightning spec) & just healed Khem as needed. If you're able to keep your/Khem's gear decent you should be able to burn through most questing that way. I mention a leveling build because you said heroic mobs, which sounds like you're just questing. Obviously if you want to heal FPs/WZ you'll need to be truly specced for healing, but it takes a while to get your tools and sure feels slow if you're heals from the get-go. But I don't like to heal lowbie randoms, as I don't have the patience to heal stupid, so this works for me. Either way just stick with it, Sorc gets extremely fun as you get more tools. As the poster above mentioned, you'll eventually fill out most of the healing tree and spill over into the others bottom tiers for extra usefulness, but for now you just gotta tough it out with whatever you choose.
  19. Ironically, it was a remark about how intelligence is lacking in this thread. That it went over your head just nails the point. They already can opt out.
  20. People have intellectual conversations about why mice die when you step on them, or why men don't like condoms. That a conversation is being had, does not make it an intelligent one. Especially on these forums. In this thread. You're implying that it was done wrong. It is a game EVENT. It is there whether or not you like it. If it bothers you that much, spend your weekend doing something else. I'm sure the response will be something like "I shouldn't have to", but yeah, yeah you do. Frankly I'll be enjoying 2xp. There's what...like 30 different people in this thread having said they actually want this feature? I'll be generous and say 50. That's 50 out of how many thousands? Not enough to matter, that's how many.
  21. Would love to see more, but I don't think we're going to anytime soon. If they do extend class stories, it's likely going to be in a distant expansion / patch that's probably only on the developer horizon at this point. That or they're totally going to and are just keeping the secret locked down, but probably not
  22. Yep. And fortunately for me (and by me, I mean the masses that truly don't give a rip), the devs agree.
  23. Everyone else's short version: ALL leveling content is already trivial, 2xp doesn't matter in this regard. Random reQQuests like this are just silly.
  24. WoW's trial is actually pretty crappy compared to TOR. You can only level up to 20 I think, then you're done. Tor lets you go just about all the way up, limiting your various incomes rather than capping you... but they also allow your sub to be paid via CM, EvE is the only other game I've ever played that allows players an opportunity to use ingame currency to buy their sub from others. WoW however can afford to do whatever they want because they're a monster. With all that said, infrastructure, staffing, income, these are irrelevant factors when comparing industry standards for pricing x service or item on y mmo. WoW and the other games mentioned are other MMOs that have multiple realms and thus offer realm transfers - it doesn't matter if you like it or not, if we're comparing apples, they need to be compared to other apples. If you're going to be up-in-arms about TOR's pricing for a service that is offered by other companies that provide the exact same service at just about the same price across the board, but TOR does it cheaper/better, you're simply being shortsighted. As far as rift being f2p, sure it is, but without even bothering to look it up I can assure you realm transfers are most definitely not free, excepting any special circumstances comparable to our APAC situation. Aion has recently gone F2P as well I believe..or maybe not so recently, been a year or more maybe, and their Black Cloud Market (basically Aion's version of Cartel Market) still charges the same fees for things like transfers, remodeling, whatever. In regards to alts and how important they are... you're falling into a silly trap. Legacy is only as important as say, keeping all your toons on the same realm/guild in WoW to share money/gear, or same faction/realm in Aion to share kinah/gear. It opens up slightly more convenience options to have the Legacy perks, but if you can't afford a realm transfer and are thus forced to reroll, you're not being harmed, you're just not getting all the extra crap. If it's that important to you, you will buy the transfer. If you need off your realm that bad, why not? However, the only way you'd really 'need' a realm transfer is if you were on a dead server, and (here comes the part I might be wrong about) I thought the only real dead servers were APAC. I moved my toons from APAC to Harbinger yesterday (for free!), and the population is amazing. Are you truly on a realm where your gameplay is just suffering horribly because of the realm itself? I don't believe you, or anyone on non-APAC realms, are in such a position. If you want to move to be with friends or whatever, great... but like your sub, it's not gonna be completely free. If you're subbing, save your CC, and move eventually, or shell out a few bucks. I bet you can even find someone ingame to trade you one if the credits are right, as I'm almost certain you'll see a way for this to happen as with like all other CM things.
  25. First of all, of course we can agree that TOR is not a subscription-only MMO. It certainly has a f2p option, and like most games it's heavily limited, intended as a teaser for you to say 'ok this is fun enough for me to shell out a few bucks'. The existence of a f2p option does not mean the rest of the game is built around it - that would make a pretty crappy game. Since the majority of the contrasting games you listed are go-nowhere and/or single-realm games that have absolutely no need or function for alternate realms, much less realm transfers, it was pointless for you to list them. Since you apparently just randomly pulled names off a .com, you apparently do not have much experience with MMOs, so I'll fill you in. Secret World is a Funcom game, and as an employee of Funcom I can assure you that the concept leading up to realm changes are a set of variables they strive to avoid in all games, dating back to Anarchy Online. There was some toss-up over Age Of Conan in this regard, but that's irrelevant. Since you clearly glazed over the other games mentioned by other players and/or seem to be ignoring the elephant(s) in the room to argue, I guess I'll rehash my own minute experience for you out of politeness. Anarchy Online - for the very brief duration they offered them (very brief), $15. They only had 4 realms at the time, and 2 were for non-American realms in order to deliver them better ping. AO's pretty old too, going on like 15ish years or more now. WoW - $20 (or is it 25? one of those). If you want a race/faction change, add more. Aion - when I played it was $20, don't care enough to password recovery my Aion account to see what it is now but yeah. Same with cosmetic changes, those might have been $15, don't remember. Rift - Pretty sure it was $15 when I played, that might be down to $10 now, I am not sure. ^ These are the only applicable MMOs I have played (by applicable, I mean they actually have more than one realm) that offer a realm transfer service with which I am familiar. Just from those 3 alone, TOR's is priced quite fairly, cheaper than most (technically cheaper than all, since you get free CC every month and can eventually just xfer for free if you save your coins). Again, what's a fair price to you? $1? $5? Free? EA are a business, extra things are going to cost extra money. Do you think the $30 pizza and wings you order from Pizza Hut actually cost Pizza Hut $30 to make? Try about $2. The rest is markup. That's business, and in the E-entertainment industry, there's pretty much no overhead, it's all worth what you're wiling to pay. Save up CC, shell out some cash, or re-roll. Either way, you don't matter, to EA or to most anyone else really, and neither do your tears.
