  1. He's changed his loadout, then. It used to be BLC. But with Scrab, it generally doesn't matter. He can fly with a broken slingshot and still get 15 kills. -bp
  2. Malgus. Experience tends to win over youth. -bp
  3. I thought you flew one of these things! First: According to Dulfy, those things hit for around 933 or so at 500m. Combine that with Blaster Overcharge and maxed-out plasma rocket pods, and it's absolutely no surprise cattlescout pilots like Scrab get the kills they do. (Piloting skill does help, but I can tell you from personal experience that it's not strictly necessary to have.) Second: The BLC is clearly meant to fill a combat shotgun role. If you want effectiveness at range with a firearm, selecting a shotgun is probably not going to get you there as fast as a rifle would. So, the BLC really isn't supposed to be that effective at range. Third: Fighting at within 1000m is kinda the cattlescout's bread and butter. I don't know how you fly yours, but without exception, every competent cattlescout pilot on the Ebon Hawk is a close-range blast-and-bolt fighter. Finally, the BLC is ALREADY inferior to all of its competing loadout options beyond 500m (and STILL inferior to LLC within 500m). So there won't be any change. The situation you describe is already reality. From what I can see, it's either nerf BLC's damage or take away Blaster Overcharge, which makes an already-overpowered situation lethal in short order. I don't think BO is working as intended, because it seems to also have a boosting effect to SECONDARY weapons like cluster missiles. But I could see just reducing BLC's damage by 10% if its ridiculous 115% aim at close range were looked at. I mean, I get what they're thinking ("it must be accurate at close range because shotgun!"), but anyone who's ever trained with a combat shotgun will tell you lethality at close range comes from having A) heavy shot and B) aiming squarely at center mass. Even being a little off to the side can mean the difference between wounded attacker and corpse. So, there's the supporting evidence. -bp
  4. You're fine, original poster. You just ran into some jerks. -bp (EDIT: Which server is this? If it's Ebon Hawk I'll be extremely disappointed. I keep telling people we have the best population.)
  5. It's possible server population doesn't support recruitment. I don't need reciprocation for any of my guilds, original poster, but I'll be more than happy to contribute one to yours. I appreciate a GL who can think outside of the box, and this idea's actually rather clever. -bp
  6. I meet the requirements for both Smuggler and Agent, so I approve. -bp (Point of order: Gunslingers can't hit anything at 100m. Max range is 30 or so.)
  7. I saw currency exchange in Neverwinter. It's not the best of ideas. What happens is the economy generally tends to get skewed in favor of whatever group decides to control the exchange rate (unless it's fixed, and then it simply gets gamed by gold farmers). It's not something I would support as a result. If I need more of a certain currency, I'll procure it. Besides, you know all the ships aren't released yet, right? We still get cloakers, and there's some T3 heavies in the pipeline. -bp
  8. After having flown a Flashfire and a Sting, I can comfortably say that the BLC really is a bit overpowered. I think if damage were taken down by 20% it'd be all right though. It's really only that overpowered up close anyway. -bp
  9. I'm interested just to find out how they intend on presenting the mechanic.
  10. I dunno why people bag on the SG. I wrecked faces in that thing. -bp
  11. I didn't quote you on that post, ya brain-dead nerfherder. The other one did. The parentheses were an aside to the OP. Learn 2 English. I see why WoW kicked you out. -bp
  12. Stupid forum boards. Lord, gonna reply paragraph by paragraph right here for ya, buddy. (Hey, maybe Bioware should change their forum platform to something a little more 21st century while we're at it...) * I like a GOOD debate. This is a good one. * Agreement achieved! No further discussion on Preferred mail needed, then, I'd say. (Unless something else comes up. I love agreements.) * Again, my experience on whether or not people subscribe based solely on cash or lack thereof is anecdotal. But you're kind to call it "fair". (Frankly, I don't even know why I tried to use an anecdote.) * In RE: nagvertising - It works. Do I agree with it? No. I hate most forms of advertising. To me, the product should stand on its own. Can it be done better or more responsibly? Probably. But would it be as effective as the drug dealer approach? (Give 'em a taste for free then charge, is how that works.) Probably not. What matters to EA right now is recouping its investment by any means necessary. They spent a LOT on this. Bioware did too. * While not EVERY freep will engage in gold spamming, the fact remains that opening the door to them earlier and taking restrictions off of their chat will markedly increase such behavior. I wish it weren't the case, but we both know this to be a true and extremely likely scenario. Imagine how THAT would affect quality-of-play. It's just not worth it to make chat restriction-free for non-payers. At LEAST let's make these people buy something to spam. * If you want to do more than keep the doors open on your favorite game, more power to you. I've been there before. But it's extremely thankless and non-profitable work. Please keep that in mind. (I'm sure you will, but what kinda guy would I be if I didn't say something about this facet?) * If you want to show me some figures supporting your claim in regard to profit models, I'm willing to read it. * You're not responsible for the fault of the forum software to populate multiquotes, but I appreciate your apologizing on their behalf (which is how I took it as, naturally, you are not to blame here). * Now, I know we're meaning F2P in two different contexts, so let me be clear - those that DO NOT PAY ANYTHING AT ALL are the drains. They have no intention of supporting the game. They only intend to feed off of it. I can't respect that, but that's a personal issue. * Two apologies and it wasn't even your fault! You're a good egg. * Now, on this we may not agree. I strongly believe that those who do not pay anything to play here ARE fortunate to experience even the small taste they get. Again, this may be related to differing personal views. * It's not as small a group as one might think, but none of us have hard numbers to tell us. (A world without secrets would be an amazing, informative world indeed!) * Anyone who pays anything, even if it's just $5 over the span of a decade, supports the game. I have no qualms with anyone who supports the game. (I wouldn't even really have any qualms about the continued existence of freeps so long as there's no insistence that they be given anything more than what they're handed anyway.) And finally: * Again: Be careful how much you care about a game. Or anything that isn't strictly YOUR project. Investing oneself into another's project is noble, but often ends with a lot of grief for the knight who charges in. -bp
  13. I hate cherry-picking, but technological limitations forced me to do so. While I agree with you (and represent that portion of the community from time to time), it helps if ALL parties have the same positive, can-do attitude. That includes the original poster. Life's frustrating. I get that. But it doesn't have to be. -bp
  14. OP means "original poster". That's not you.
  15. Morgan Freeman wasn't handy, so here's an illustrated guide with stick figures. -bp
  16. Not to be confused, of course, with other fine and noble attempts at solving global hunger.
  17. I believe you. Your word carries quite a bit of weight with me in this regard. (Don't abuse that.) -bp
  18. OH! I get it! You're on PoT5! That server's dying. Get off of there and migrate to a new server. You'll find LOTS of people. -bp
  19. Then why were you even here? If you have no friends, no guild, and nothing, then you didn't even play at all. -bp
  20. I went on hiatus once. Played Neverwinter for a month. Came back because the people there were exceptional lackwits. SWTOR simply has the best community of any game anywhere. But I hope you enjoy whatever game it is you're going to play next. We'll keep your seat warm just in case. -bp
  21. Yep. That's par for the course in network security. BlackShades ran for quite a while so investigators could do max damage to the network, for example. -bp
  22. I hope it's better than what . I mean, sure, it's pretty, but slow as HELL. -bp
  23. When this happens, it's typically because they're "honeypotting" the jacktard in question - seeing what he's doing, watching its effect, and taking EXTENSIVE data if possible to prevent future recurrences.
  24. Why can't they design a single cannon that looks good if holstered? Thanks for the pics!
