  1. Without severe restrictions on Freeps, they don't convert. Why buy the cow when one gets the milk for free? And if they DON'T convert as a direct result of being placed under those restrictions? Then good damned riddance. I DESPISE the inappropriately self-entitled. What'd they earn? Nothing. No trophies for participation. The Freeps are lucky they get to play. If they don't like it, they can play elsewhere. -bp
  2. Absolutely everything the original poster suggests can be done via RP - and should. This is an MMO, folks - be sociable. -bp
  3. The F2P/Preferred system is in place for two reasons: To convert non-paying players into paying players (preferably with subscriptions), and to make the paying customers feel like they're getting a bit more for their financial support. In light of this, I'm perfectly fine with the system as it is because it works. I enjoy the perks I get over Freeps and Preems for my financial support of the game. If you want these perks, you should only be able to get them by paying money. That way, the game stays open for everyone to play. Don't want the perks? Don't pay. No one's holding a gun to your head to force you to sub up. You just think that's happening because the system is doing what it was designed to do psychologically. -bp
  4. The most satisfying class is always Metal Shop, because students get to play with arc welders and stuff. -bp
  5. ...like, maybe, I dunno, changing the colors manually? No, really, that'll do the trick immediately. If he can't see a certain color, change the freakin' color. No one ever remembers Occam. -bp
  6. 5k, for new pilot subscribers only. Let 'em get one or two extra ships. That's bonus enough. Otherwise, there's little point to flying as the primary goal for now appears to be "master all of the things". -bp
  7. Every word of this. Not only that, but you get a much richer experience team leveling like this. Two stories for the price of one! Some of the best experiences I've had in this game were with one particular leveling partner. Don't miss out. -bp
  8. They already did it. It's called "the KoTOR series". Of course, there's no character sync (and there shouldn't be - what you propose would allow individuals to create level 55s without so much as interacting with the online world itself, which is something that could be problematic from a PvP/goldfarmer powerleveling standpoint), but what you propose isn't really an MMO, so it shouldn't matter. The game is designed to be an MMO. I'd hate to see it depart from that. So, I can't support this idea. -bp
  9. The problem with this approach is that it, too, can be trolled. See someone you don't like? Mass report. A better, longer-term solution would be in recognizing that words don't have any kind of effect until the listener decides how they want to respond. For example: I could sit here and call you an "idiot" for thinking this way. (Relax. I don't think you're an idiot. It's an example.) But the term "idiot" has no tangible, physical effect until AND unless YOU decide to get offended by it. For what it's worth? I don't care about verbal insults. I'm married. I only start worrying if projectiles become involved. And it's an approach I recommend to a lot of folks. I'd recommend it to anyone offended by words on a screen. -bp
  10. All week during prime time, only one American server had a Light population. Which one y'all think that was? No, seriously, if you guys keep this up you're going to lose your server and be forced to merge. -bp
  11. The fastest answer is to adjust the monitor settings so that the boxes are different colors. -bp
  12. While it's a danger to the pilot, I've noticed it's also an incredible danger to enemies. So, be careful what you ask for. You might be giving up a weapon you didn't even know you had. -bp
  13. If you don't need a NEW laptop and wanna save some green, I can confirm that the Lenovo E420 handles SWTOR excellently at a budget range, albiet on medium settings. (For best, drop to low - the screen's not terribly well-detailed anyway.) -bp
  14. Wish granted. Unfortunately, the lawn didn't stop with itself and is now mowing down everyone in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I wish the Holiday Special DIDN'T suck. -bp
  15. EMP is good, but here's what I do as a bomber: I hold a few tricks up my sleeve to wait until someone pops it. I don't typically cycle my drones. Sometimes I will, but a lot of times I'll hold one of each in reserve, ready to slide out as soon as someone pops EMP. (I have yet to see someone try to make a second pass, which makes this tactic VERY effective.) One guy Impside targeted my railgun drone, killed it, and died to the second one I shot out immediately after. So, if you're gonna rely on EMP, be careful of that tactic. (Oh, and never, ever go stationary. Slow down? Sure. But I've never been a stop-and-pop kinda guy. Trust me - the rockets work and work well with practice.) -bp
  16. It's called "spreading the word", and I'm glad the original poster did. You don't have to like it. It's annoying to see little idiots attempting to take advantage of bigger idiots' hearts. Maybe that gets you off. I don't know. I don't care. But you know what's funny? This forum post annoyed YOU enough for you to want to look like a hypocritical douche. Congrats! -bp
  17. Scouts with rocket pods are insanely effective from 3-5k at taking out minefields. I do it all the time. Stop, pop, clear, make the bomber pop more, clear those, kill the bomber. It only sounds difficult. Gets pretty easy with practice. -bp
  18. You're not getting slaughtered. Piles of pixels are. No money on the table. No trophies on the line. Just the approval or disapproval of some lines of code. Context. It's important. -bp
  19. No complaints here. All I wanted to do was update the list. Had no idea all that would come about. -bp
  20. Have you considered just using alt codes? Odds are you're not going to be able to even find the individuals who currently hold those names, and even if you did, I'm not sure you'd be allowed to purchase them by any tangible means. (Credits, maybe, but I doubt EA's gonna let ya pay someone cash.) -bp
  21. Simple. Don't worry about it and do your own thing. Your responsibility as a player is to have fun. That's it. You're not responsible for raising talent levels, fixing matchmaking, or anything other than flying and laughing. -bp
