  1. Very true. Just make sure that the tank pulls aggro first, before the healer goes to CC something. Otherwise your chances of losing your healer are high.
  2. Yeah I've noticed as well that the GTN on the Ebon Hawk has been hit hard with undercutting. I find I can make a ton of credits if I buy out all the terenthium and resell it at a normal price. But you have to already be rich to do that.
  3. I'd just like to chime in here. I've been tanking in this game for a little over a year. And before that (and also currently) I tanked in WoW with a Protection Paladin. There are large differences in this game from a year ago. Mainly huge differences in the community. It seems the more free to play players we have, the worse the PUGs get. It happens often that I have to coach DPS on proper order. Even at higher level flashpoints. That really shouldn't happen. When I nicely ask people to just play their roles and let me pull, I get such responses as "Go back to WoW f**!" Sometimes people even seem to think that it's my job to "rescue them" when they do something stupid. The thing is, tanks in this game have unreasonably long cooldowns on taunts. honestly. 15 seconds for a single taunt? 45 seconds for AoE taunt? what the eff is that? With such long cooldowns, you really have to play smart and have a nice rotation to hold aggro. Overzealous DPS jumping in ahead of you, or rushing ahead in rocket boots and pulling before you can even get there, makes tanking a real pain in this game sometimes. With all that said, in my opinion, tank and heals are the only 2 worth playing. For me, playing DPS is boring. I say, big kudos to all new players who want to pursue tanking or healing. You are certainly lords among men (and possibly women ) If you really want to become good at tanking and/or healing, I would suggest to do what I did. Read a lot! Read all about your class...how best to gear up your toon, rotation examples, tactics, etc. This will help you more than you can possibly imagine Play through each flashpoint at least once as DPS. Pay attention to the layout, crew skill hackable shortcuts, mod aversion routes, etc. Do yourself the humongous favor and buy a +41 Indestructible crystal from the GTN. You can find them for as cheap as 100k credits. And if you ever roll another tank on your account, you can add it to collections for about 90cc I believe. it's worth it. Especially since you get 500cc per month for your subscription. I personally have a large assortment of +41 endurance and power crystals. If you've ever played WoW before...it's like leveling with heirlooms. If any new subscriber would like to tank but is not sure where to begin, I have characters on both the Ebon Hawk and the Red Eclipse. I would be willing to help in any way I can. Whether you need tips, or financial help...I can help out. on the Ebon Hawk, you can friend one of my main characters: Lek'sis or Lek'san and message me when you see me online. on the red eclipse, friend and message either of the names in my signature. Anyways, sorry for writing this book. I hope that this will help any new aspiring tanks.
  4. Where are you from? And time off work is generally my problem too. Usually have to put in vacation for gamescom
  5. I don't know where you're from but flights within Europe are generally very cheap. I fly to London a few times a year and never pay more than 100€ for a ticket. Also cologne is a beautiful city. Would be worth it even without gamescom
  6. Hop a flight to Frankfurt. Then drive 2 hours, or take a train, to cologne. Hell I live in Germany and it will be a longer trip for me. I have to drive 6 hours to get there
  7. I personally haven't been experiencing any network lag lately. I have however noticed an increase in graphics lag. It had improved since 2.0 but has returned. I'm not sure what it is about this game's engine that brings even decent PCs to their knees. If I can run BioShock infinite with no issues, I should be able to run this game flawlessly.
  8. Also if any of you have frequented these forums for a while, you may know me. I've been playing swtor since 1.7 and am very experienced in all aspects of this game. I, and my officers, are always ready and willing to help out. Whether you're a noobie, an old player, low or high level, We're here to help.
  9. We are a social guild. Recruiting all levels. We do pretty much everything. Flashpoints, heroics, PvP, leveling help. We have lots of high level crafters who are always willing to help with armor and modifications. Our officers are experienced and knowledgeable. Under new management. Our old GM ducked out and left the leader position up for grabs. I was elected leader by officer vote. We are currently building the guild back up. I personally am donating half my profits to the guild bank. Also considering a name change. A vote will be held amongst members If you would like to hang out with good mannered, experienced players and would like to be a part of the ongoing reconstruction then post in this thread. Alternatively you can whisper Lek'saen (me) or Baw-george in game. Join us and help make this great guild even better!
  10. All my alts have a different job. My main is my finance character. On myain, I have bio analysis, scavenging and underworld trading. At low levels, you collect a lot of desh which isn't expensive but you get a lot fast. So you can sell it in bundles of 99. Green goo with bio is the same. Once you level up these 2 gathering skills, the mats sell for more and more. Once I have some credits and have unlocked my ship (giving me the droid), my droid is constantly on UT missions. Just selling terenthium and agrinium can already make you lots of credits. Terenthium sells on the ebon hawk for around 2k a piece and agrinium for up to 10k a piece. But that's premium. By the time my main was lvl 30, I was making a few million a week, with minimal effort. Other than that, my alts craft. One does cybertech and another artifice, etc. With high level cybertech, I always have purple armor and mods for my leveling characters, grenades for my tanks, droid armor, etc. Artifice keeps my stocked up on crystals and enhancements (although since the introduction of collections, artifice isn't really worth it for me anymore. Anyways, long story short. You get rich with bio, scavenging and UT. You make leveling ultra simple with cybertech. Your finance character can email credits to any of your other characters. Even in opposing factions. Have fun getting rich, learn to play the GTN and enjoy getting all cartel market stuff for credits instead of CC
  11. Yeah it took a long time. It's there now . Thank Goodness
  12. Thanks for your reply. I bound it to my weapon immediately. And I logged out and in twice since then. Maybe when I login ttonight, it'll be ready. I'll also try it from my other characters as well. Thanks for giving me hope lol
  13. So I bought a yellow blue indestructible crystal on the GTN. Went to collections, paid 60cc and now it's available account wide. Then on my other character I bought a charred orange hawkeye off the GTN. Same as the yellow-blue. Only it won't pet me add the charred orange to collections. I've always done this with my +41 crystals. Is there some reason why charred orange seems to be an exception? Did I waste 385k credits?
  14. Hey, welcome! Always nice to see a new subscriber. If you wanna start doing flashpoints, you should look up combat roles here in the forums. After you're used to how flashpoints work, you may want to try a healer or tank. Lots of fun. What server are you on?
  15. My buddy has the R7 260x and had to turn AA off in game and set AA in catalyst instead. Works great. In my case, my card is too old to use the nvidia software and the AA used in game seems heavier than in other games. So I just gotta keep it off. My card is the nVidia GT220. It's old but gets the job done. Runs BioShock infinite on medium with 2xAA
  16. Thanks again guys. Yeah the hero engine is by no means perfect. Anti aliasing is a bit off so I just turned it off and am dealing with the jaggies. No big deal though. But there are obvious improvements. I bought my friend a 60 day time card for his bday, causing him to make a glorious return also. The UI kept spazzing out on him in windows 8.1 so he went back to win7 lol. Anyways, the fun of this game far outshadows the minor setbacks for me. I'm levelling a few toons simultaneously because I love support roles and can never decide between tanking and healing
  17. Thanks for the warm welcome guys! It's good to be back. I missed the community too. And yes, I'm on red eclipse My marauder's name is Lek'san if anyone would like to add. He's currently only lvl 13 tho
  18. I quit playing around the time 2.1 came out. Not because I didn't like the game anymore, but due to financial reasons, I had to drop my sub. I forgot how much I loved this game. Also, really weird, the game performs better on high for me than it used to on medium. I haven't changed my hardware. Did they make some improvements? Anyways. Last night I went ahead and rolled a new warrior. Needless to say, it's glorious. So I'm back, brethren. Nice to see you all again. I was on the ebon hawk before but since my american friends don't play anymore, I'm now on the English euro PvE server. Forget the name. Here's to murdering republic scum once again
  19. I unlocked my vehicle legacy wide through collections. It came in the black market pack. Is your speeder also from the CM? Then look for it in collections while logged in as an alt, and you can unlock it for all existing and future toons.
  20. Ran hammer station the other night with my operative healer. The tank was an assassin who was under levelled and under geared for the FP. He knew it though and apologized ahead if time. He was still a really good tank though. We wiped once, however because I don't have a threat dump yet and as soon as I would start healing, all the weaks and strongs would flock to me. The DPS were always too busy with the elite or champion (depending on particular battle). At some point the tank says "wait, DPS what are you guys doing? You need to get the mobs off the healer. He can't heal and DPS at the same time". Was really nice, and after that it all ran smoothly. Honestly the first time I've ever had problems with hammer station though. That FP is just too easy to wipe on. Still in shock.
  21. I have both a sage and an operative(imperial agent). They both seem just as effective, but I like the play style of the sage much better. Probably just because it was my first healer and what I got used to first. Not to mention that playing an operative in general seems more complicated due to my quick bars filling up so fast with abilities.
  22. Really good points with the whole savings thing. I actually use one of my alts as a legacy bank, so to speak. That way I can't possibly spend all my money at once. The hassle of having to log out and in, then send mail, is a nice spending deterrent. So I generally keep a minimum of 500k on the character I'm currently playing, with a few mil on my bank alt. One thing I do that helps levelling a lot is I bought the rocket boots, plus both upgrades for it. Expensive but worth it. Then I buy the xp upgrades for class, exploration, and flashpoints. And also I bought a +41 power crystal, +41 aim crystal, +41 cunning crystal and a +41 endurance crystal, then unlocked each of them in collections using my monthly cc stipend. So right off the bat, my toon and all companions do really nice damage, causing me to burn through mobs. Makes planets go by faster. I think I might be getting off topic here though. The point is, once you get used to playing the market, you'll be able to afford all this and more, making the game even more fun in my opinion. Judging by the fact that you have over 200k at level 19, I'd say you're already on the right track.
  23. Yeah gathering is where it's at. Credits come in very handy once you start buying legacy unlocks. Having a lot of credits will save you quite a bit of real money for the must-haves. I do scavenging, archaeology and bio analysis on my primary alt. Since all 3 are gathering skills, they level up really fast since you find the nodes everywhere (especially bio on dromund kaas). Scavenging will make you more credits once you start to access higher level finds. A lot of crafters need those metals and a lot of them don't gather for it, but rather buy off the gtn. Either way, for making credits, gathering skills are the way to go and they don't cost you anything like mission skills do. So in the end, you make a much higher profit. If you want to learn the best ways to play the market, go to the crew skills forum. Some very knowledgeable players over there. I swear some of them play this game just to play the gtn.
  24. Double xp is the perfect time for me to level my operative. The side quests bore me since I already have 2 imperial toons. So since the imperial agent story line is freaking awesome, I skip the side quests, just do the story and planet story quests, and enjoy the story. I love it. And I find myself about 2 to 3 levels above the quests so far, which is just fine.
