  1. why hasn't someone from bioware at the very least commented on this thread and told us why these haven't got voice modulation when they really should have it? I really want to know. If a developer or community mod or something could comment on this I would really appreciate it.
  2. still for those of us who are unfamilliar with these builds, it would be nice to see them, at least until such time as 2.4 hits. Because as near as I can tell, 2.4 won't be hitting at least for another couple of weeks (correct me if I am mistaken about this).
  3. still no comment on this from the developers apparently... and I would very much like a comment from someone in the know.
  4. are you guys taking into account the +1.00 to Accuracy for having all conversations completed with one of a Legacies Melee Tank Companions? That Bonus plus an End Game Accuracy Earring, and two end game Accuracy Implants, should if I am not mistaken be sufficient to get most characters to 100% Accuracy on Basic Attacks, and 110% Accuracy on Special Attacks. Don't quote me on that, but I am pretty certain that it does. At least it does on the Ask Mr. Robot sheet I have worked up to help me build my Marauder's end game gear. I would imagine it does the same thing for Snipers and all other classes that require a similar build.
  5. lets not even start on the issues involved with the Dashad's bathroom requirements.... especially after being possessed by a woman....
  6. Yavin IV and Dantoine are definitely good ones. What about Lando Calrissian's Cloud City on Bespin?
  7. Actually, bathrooms in space are not all that scarce... believe it or not. To quote Star Trek's Memory Alpha Similarly there is the possibility that one of the unopenable doors on each players starships actually leads to a personal lavatory. I cited Star Trek, because Star Trek is usually quoted as the primary source when quoting the lack of lavatories in space. The first part of the quote from Memory Alpha is what is canonically observable. The second part is speculation based on spin off material and actor quotes.
  8. you mean like they can't charge you for appearance customization? I don't see why the choice of exactly how much corruption to show couldn't be added into the game in a manner similar to a cartel store unlock. Obviously you have not looked at the level 55 Relics as of yet. The level 55 Relics in the PvE and PvP Vendors are not tied to your alignment. And for good reason, those relics are the end game relics, and there is only one of each type of them for each given class. So limiting them to Light or Dark Side would invalidate their utility to those given classes. That said with regards to the Light and Dark Side Relics, nothing in the game mechanics explicitly states that you absolutely must play with a Relic prior to level 55. And even if you did have to, you still have the Matrix Cube as one potential Relic of the two, and that particular Relic is never tied to alignment. In fact the alignment tied Relics are invariably weaker than the non-alignment tied level 55 Relics. --------- My personal thoughts on Dark Side Corruption, is that I want the option to have alternative Dark Side Corruption Features present in the various races. For example I would like it if Humans, and other races (aside from Chiss who always have red eyes) could actually get yellow eyes ala Anakin Skywalker's Dark Side Corruption. The only race to date to have the proper Glowing Yellow Eyes appearance is the Sith Purebloods, who I personally consider naturally corrupted by the dark side.
  9. I am all for the whole Bind to Legacy on Cartel Items instead of having a collections tab. The problem I have with the collections tab is that it encourages people to buy an item or set of items from the GTN ONCE across all of their characters, pay a minor cartel coin cost, and then never have to bother with buying something like that particular item/set again. This will ultimately cause the crash of the in game economy in the long run, once everyone has managed to collect every single item in the collections tab or most of them at any rate, rendering new copies of those items useless to everyone but very new players at best, and entirely obsolete at worst. Point is, we really want to be encouraging people to buy items on the GTN, not discouraging such practices. Otherwise their isn't much point to the in game economy. I know that Bioware and most gaming companies with Cash Shops would rather you be spending real world dollars on their game instead of buying stuff off of the GTN or in game auction house, but in reality without purchasing stuff on the GTN, people are going to be unable to get alot of the stuff that they really need when they need it and the Cartel Packs aren't really a solution to that problem in any real quantifiable manner. In Game Economy is really player driven, not company driven in most cases. It is up to the players to decide what they will be selling items for. Though Star Wars the Old Republic kind of hinders that process by having deposits on the items, and a mandatory cut from any sales you make that goes to the Auction House instead of the player so you are losing money in two ways, if your auction is taken down prior to its listing time you lose the deposit, and if it does sell, then you lose a bit of profit. Either way we really need the in game economy in order to function and the Collections Tab is not helping matters in any way whatsoever. Not that I am totally against the collections tab. I mean it is great to be able to unlock the gear across all my characters. I just think it would be better to have said gear be a bound to legacy item instead of what it currently is. Then again for some of the items (the ones that normally cost a couple million per piece) the Collections Tab is the perfect solution...
  10. Okay, there really should be a running tally of planets that should be added to this game. So I am going to start that list. Naboo (complete with new game mechanics allowing for aquatic environments deeper than waist height) Csilla (The Chiss need a home planet afterall) Iridonia (Home Planet of the Zabrak) Ryloth (home planet of the Twi'lek's) Cathar (Home Planet of the Cathar of course) Degobah (probably a republic only planet) Dac (we have enough Mon Calamari in the game that we might as well have their home planet in the game as well. This would also be a good reason to incorporate aquatic environments into the game as well). and thats just listing the obvious ones...
  11. sorry that was a typo. I meant to say credits, not cartel coins XD But in some games it is actually possible to sell items in game for in game currency and then use that in game currency to buy the Cash Shop Currency which you in turn use to buy Cash Shop Items which you later sell for even more in game currency and repeat the process all over again. Perfect World Entertainment's games tend to have this feature alot.
  12. I have had this same glitch happen when using some of Relaxed type armor (I forget exactly which ones) when equipped to Ashara Zavros. I had at the time chocked it up entirely to the fact that her skin texture was brand spanking new and that it wasn't really used to rendering all of the different types of armor in the game. But apparently this belief was incorrect and its something to do with the armor and not her skin texture?
  13. I am bumping this because neither the in game bug report that I posted nor this thread have been noticed by anyone of note who would be able to do anything about this particular bug, and I would really like something to be done about this particular bug.
  14. um... yeah... none of these items that have been mentioned are fast or efficient methods of gaining in game credits. In fact selling Cartel Items for in game currency is a sure fire way to make your paycheck disappear forever with little to no benefit to you other than enjoyment factor. But, if you really want to buy items off of the Cartel Market and then sell them on the GTN in order to obtain Cartel Coins, then your best bet is to buy items from the Unlock or Consumables Category from the Cartel Market instead of buying items in the equipment or packs section of the Cartel Market. The reason that Consumables and Unlocks are better is because they are a one time use item in most cases, and are often in higher demand. The best unlocks to get are the ones that players who are completely free to play need in order to access additional features (such as Section X, or Artifact Equipment) of the game. The best Consumables to get are probably the Character, Legacy, and Guild Renames, Dye Modules, Major Experience Boosts x5 Packs, and Major Valor Boosts. Anything else is just not worth selling. These items are both cheap and one time use items, thus are going to be higher in demand. Also unlike other experience boosts the Major Experience Boosts apply to all Experience Types and last for 3 hours, so they are worth more (at least in theory). Dye modules like the Packs are kind of a crap shot, but you can sell the unopened Dye Module for a bit of change. The Legacy, Guild, and Character Renames are probably going to be where the real money is though (but don't quote me on that).
  15. I was told to duplicate this topic here since the topic was in fact likely a bug since the Lore of the Object in question had it working the way I am wanting it to work and not the way it is actually working in SWTOR. So here goes:
  16. I have been wearing the Mandalore the Preserver's Helmet on my Powertech for a day or two now. And something has been really bugging me about this piece of armor. The armor does not have the muffled voice effect that some of the more traditional armor sets in the game utilize. Unfortunately the Mandalore the Preserver's Helmet is one of those pieces of armor that I would have assumed would kind of require a muffled voice effect given that it is a closed helmet of the sort that you see on a space suit or similar outfit complete with a re-breather (though in the case of the one in this game the re-breather is part of the body armor instead of part of the helmet for obvious reasons). So I really think it should have the muffled voice effect even though it doesn't. Add to the fact that there are apparently other examples of armor out there that don't have such an effect, and I am beginning to wonder if the game developers were really thinking about the aesthetics of these pieces of armor when they coded them, or whether they simply wanted to get the items appearances done so that they could say that the items were in the game.
  17. Look, your not wrong that Powertech is a worse tank than a Juggernaut. But, and this is a big but... it is hardly the worst tank in the game right now. That honor goes solely to the Assassin, whose only saving grace is that it is the king of crowd control. The Assassin is forced to wear Light Armor, and it's cool downs hardly make up the difference between Light Armor and Heavy Armor when it comes to innate Armor Rating (not counting Defense Chance, Shield Chance, Absorption, and Damage Reduction). That fact alone means that Assassins will always die faster than either the Powertech or the Juggernaut. Um... no... The top-5 DPS Powertech's using a Hybrid build are able to dish out on average 2,949.122 DPS on a Operations Training Dummy. The Top-5 DPS Assassins averaged at 2,744.614 DPS on the same dummy. To put this into perspective, the top-5 Marauders averaged out at 3,147.112 DPS, and the top-5 Snipers averaged out at 3507.404 DPS. Point is, while Powertech's DPS is on the lower end of the spectrum, it's DPS is technically still higher than the Assassin's DPS. Thereby making it NOT the worst DPS'ing class in the game. Assassin is officially the worst DPS class and the worst tank class in the game. Makes one start to wonder "What good is Assassin, then?" As I have had pointed out to me, using the DPS Leaderboard to determine what you should be DPS'ing in Warzones is going to result in failure. The entire DPS Leaderboard is based on doing Damage in an Operation setting, not in a Warzone. Thus the DPS Leaderboards are geared primarily for PvE, not PvP. As such you will find people parsing way way higher than you will ever find in a Warzone setting. Not to mention that you will have situations where the builds being used are not optimal for Warzones in any way, but are much more efficient in PvE. Trying to make a decision on how to build a character based on that leaderboard should be done only if you plan on going PvE.
  18. I never said gladiatorial games were clean helpless fun. They were often brutal with people losing limbs. But they were only on rare occasions actually fatal. That Roman Poet you cited probably ended up going to one of the really bad ones. And for the record, you need to note that he does make distinct mention of previous gladiatorial games that were in fact safer for the participants than the one he is commenting on. It should be noted that there are records of certain gladiators who have spent decades fighting in the arena with no deaths, some of which who won their eventual freedom.
  19. I am largely familiar with the Feudal System. And Peasants though technically considered Freemen, were essentially indentured workers for all intents and purposes. Meanwhile Serfs were basically the same thing as Slaves, the word is just nicer. As far as "Can you leave the Jedi Order" the answer is a resounding YES. Ahsoka Tano did leave the Jedi Order at the end of the TV Series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. And she did not fall to the Dark Side or become a Dark Jedi. So it has been shown that it is possible to leave the Jedi Order with no ill intent rendered. I would be interested in finding out where you got that figure. Because typical Gladiatorial Events only featured around 100 participants (only the incredibly rare Imperial Shows featured participants ranging in the 5,000's). And even then, Gladiatorial Games were not fights to the death except in very special occasions. It would be very bad policy for a Roman Gladiatorial Games Manager to allow his prized fighter to go into a fight knowing that there was a chance that all the training he gave that fighter would result in said fighter ending up dead. Assuming that Gladiatorial Games were always lethal is something that Hollywood taught us to do. The games were not lethal under most circumstances, and the ones that were were usually between two hardened criminals instead of being between prize fighters. As for the OSCE States, I have no idea what that acronym stands for. So I have no way of comparing them to Ancient Rome. But, I will say that I do not believe Rome was innocent. But I still acknowledge that because of Rome we have a lot of things that we wouldn't have had otherwise. For example, without Rome we wouldn't have many of the works of classical literature that we still have today (including the Bible). Without Rome we wouldn't have Aqueduct based irrigation, which would mean many cities around the world would not have clean water supplies. Nor would we have proper waste disposal. Nor would we have a concept of how to build international road systems. Point is, that a lot of the things we take for granted today, came about because of Rome's ingenuity. Only if you look at it with completely perfect 20/20 hindsight. If you were a person living back then, and all you knew was what you had been taught by the Roman Culture, then it wouldn't look all that horrifying. Also I would like to point out, that the whole "Us being against human sacrifice" is a by product of our culture today being a Judeo-Christian Centric Culture with Judeo-Christian sensibilities. If it had been the Pre-Christian Roman Culture that had survived into the modern era, instead of the Judeo-Christian one... then it is entirely plausible that our morals would be shifted in such a way as to find human sacrifice perfectly acceptable. I mean, if you were a hindu living in India, your morals would be sufficiently different from the morals of a Christian living in the United States, that the two of you probably wouldn't recognize each others morals. For reference, Hindu's in India still perform animal blood sacrifice. In fact there are some groups in the United States who perform such sacrifices (Santerians for example). Are you going to tell me that people that practice animal sacrifice are automatically evil and disgusting. Because if you are, then you might as well include anyone who eats a hamburger in that list as well.
  20. have you considered making your own from scratch? I know a lot of the best looking ones (i.e. the ones that are custom fitted to the bodies of the people who are wearing them) are often times home made for the dual reason that the store bought ones tend to be extremely expensive and because the store bought ones never really fit quite right. http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/stormtrooper/ That website outlines the basic process of making your own stormtrooper armor. I am not certain how expensive the materials for it are, but it looks to be about the best instructions for the process I could find on the internet.
  21. I think you need to define "A life of servitude" because when I think of a "life of servitude" I am thinking of Slavery as it was practiced in the United States between 18th and 19th Centuries. And I cannot comprehend how you are saying that the Jedi Order is doing anything approaching that. If your argument is that taking children and raising them in a monastic environment is somehow wrong, then I am afraid that history right up until the present day is sorely against you. Many branches of the Christian Church still run Orphanages where in the children are given strict religious upbringings, and many of those same children go into religious occupations when they grow up. And don't you dare go arguing that Priests are pedophiles or some weird crap like that, because the sad fact is that although there are a few deviants in the Churches Hierarchy, there are vastly more genuinely good and caring people in the same hierarchy. And before you claim indoctrination, it is no more indoctrination to raise a child in a religious upbringing than it is indoctrination to raise a child believing the values of a capitalistic society as is done in most public schools in America. Further, what you are arguing, about moral ambiguity, is largely coming from your understanding of morals as they exist in our society here on Earth in our modern day society. What you are trying to do is essentially compare Blue and Orange Morality systems. What is a good idea for us here on Earth in the present day, need not necessarily be a good idea, or even make sense to the people of the Star Wars Universe. That said, you are also trying to argue that a Monastic Lifestyle such as the one that the Jedi practice, is inherently evil. And unfortunately for you, history has shown that those practicing a Monastic lifestyle are some of the most grounded and caring individuals on the planet. Okay... as far as Mind Control vs. Persuasion goes... it breaks down like this: In the case of Mind Control the person actually goes in to the other person's mind, and rearranges the thought patterns or manipulates them continuously for an extended period of time, causing the victim to act very much like a puppet on it's strings. In the case of Mental Persuasion, it is more along the lines of the inductor saying something offhand that explains the desired results while tugging on certain centers of the inductee's mind to enhance receptibility to that suggestion. Essentially what you end up with with Mental Persuasion is an effect very similar (but slightly more powerful than) to real world hypnosis, only far more easy to pull off in a short amount of time, and without as much risk of it being resisted. Now what you may not know about real world hypnosis, is that it is not Mind Control. Real World Hypnosis cannot cause you to do anything which is directly harmful to yourself, or which you really do not want to do. It can be used to put you into a trance where you are more receptive to suggestion, and where you are able to do things you normally would not be physically capable of doing. But it cannot be used to do things which would harm you. Mental Persuasion is much the same, in that it cannot be used to cause you to do something which would inherently harm you. It can however be used with far more liberty than hypnosis when it comes to the power of suggestion. Which is why Boss Nass did something that was completely unlikely for him to have done otherwise. And yes, your right about his use of the Force vs. Watto, I had forgotten about that. But then, it turned out that Watto's species is immune to Mind Tricks anyways so it didn't matter. As for his stealing from Boss Nass, as far as I am concerned, he only borrowed the ship, he had every intention of returning it after the fact, and probably did so at that huge celebration at the end of episode I. As for Obi Wan's "Lie," Obi Wan: "Oh by the way Luke, before we go on this grand journey to rescue the Princess from the Galactic Republic, I want to inform you that it was your father who was largely responsible for the deaths of the vast majority of the Jedi Order, and who is currently second in command of the Galactic Empire and who likely ordered the raid that killed your Aunt and Uncle." I can just see how telling Luke that up front would send Luke into a spiral of rage towards the Dark Side of the Force right off the bat. Perhaps lying to Luke was for the best? Actually... about the whole Black Belt thing. You really need to study up on your Japanese History. The role the Jedi serve in the Galactic Republic is essentially equivalent to the role that the Samurai fulfilled in Feudal Japan. And yes, it was possible for a Samurai to rebel against his Feudal Overlord and attempt to kill him. Dishonorable as it may be for the Samurai, this caste of people was known as the Ronin. That is essentially what Mace Windu, and later Obi Wan Kenobi and Yoda became when they attempted their overthrow of Emperor Palpatine.
  22. Yeah, no. If you knew anything about History during Feudal Europe, you would know about the Craftsman Guilds. Or heck the relationship between a Knight, Squire, and Page. In Feudal Europe, people were apprenticed to a craftsman's guild at extremely young ages (13 to 15 years of age). The parents of these children had to pay the guild to take the child as an apprentice. And the child learned the entire trade by memory. They didn't have text books like we have now, they didn't have computers like we have now. You had to memorize EVERYTHING. And that's just for the relatively safe jobs like Masonry, and Blacksmithing. A Knight had to select a student basically from birth. The Page who was hired around the age of 5 to 8 years, was essentially a live in servant. The Squire was a Page who had reached the age of about 12 to 13, and was seen as mature enough to learn how to fight. Older Squires responsibilities often included following their Knights into battle as Shield or Standard Bearers. Meaning they had to be good enough to fight beside their Knight in heavy combat. A Squire would not become a Knight himself until around the age of 30 in some cases. It is in fact the Page (Apprentice) - Squire (Padawan) - Knight (Knight) Relationship that is most clearly modeled by the Jedi Order. But this kind of student-teacher relationship existed in almost every culture between the 1200's to 1600's. Heck, the Freemason's are essentially the modern day embodiment of one of those ancient Craftsmen Guilds that has managed to survive into the modern era. And actually, the Jedi have accepted older students before. Take post mind-wipe Revan as an example (though that may or may not have happened because they already knew he had training). Take Luke Skywalker for an example. Obi Wan could have insisted on training him from the moment he carried him away from the birthing chamber. Instead he opted to let Luke stay ignorant of the fact that he was force sensitive for around 17 years and was older than Anakin when he started his training (BY A LOT). Also, Jedi Mind Tricks aren't Mind Control. They are what people who are fans of Mind Control Fiction (such as myself) like to call "Gentle Telepathic Persuasion." For an example of outright mind control you would be looking at the Imperius Curse from Harry Potter, not the Jedi Mind Trick. And even that is borderline safe when compared to what those in the know call "Mind Rape" which is essentially what Bastila helps the Jedi Council do to Revan. I don't recall where the Jedi have actually stolen anything... unless you are lumping that in together with Qui Gon's Cheating at Dice to get Anakin. But what you forgot to mention about that Dice Game was that Watto was in all likelyhood using weighted dice himself. So the proper question is... is cheating a cheat in order to get a net positive outcome really a bad thing? And really, being raised by the Jedi Order is hardly the worst fate most of these children could have. They have proper medical care, are fed, have warm beds to sleep in at night, are taught how to defend themselves from would be assailants, are taught manners, they are allowed to interact with politicians (something which most people never get the opportunity to do). Simply put these kids have some of the best living conditions in the Galaxy. Arguing that killing is bad... you might as well be arguing that a person with a Black Belt is a bad person simply because they have to own a license because their own fists count as deadly weapons. And said license permits them to use those weapons if they feel that their person is in danger of lethal harm.
  23. Holy... dude.... your right! Though that girl and her gang (Teno was it) also may qualify under this category. And Eskila (I think that's her name) as well. Not to mention that one apprentice who the Inquisitor gets the privilege of being able to torture as one of his trials... You could also potentially include that guy and girl on Tython who were romantically involved (seriously if your going to pull that, do it outside the view of the entire Jedi Council).
  24. Actually what the Jedi do is no worse than what the Shaolin Monastery still does in China. In fact many parents in China actually PAY the Shaolin Monastery to take their kids, because in many ways an education from the Shaolin is very similar in China to an education from an Ivy League University in the rest of the world. Not to mention the added side perk that children who are trained in the Shaolin style martial arts have the opportunity to become world famous celebrities on the Martial Arts Demonstration Circuit. In fact the Jedi Order is largely modeled after many Chinese and Japanese Martial Arts Monasteries. And for the record, not one person in the world would argue that the Shaolin Monastery is EVIL or qualifies as "Ick-Factor." At least not anymore. Also can be likened to many European Monasteries who took in orphans and impoverished children in the middle ages so that they would be raised in a setting that actually cared for them, instead of having to live on the streets or in slums. For reference, Shaolin is one of the oldest styles of Self-Defense Martial Arts in the world. The Monastery having been founded in 477 A.D.
  25. This may be the clearest cut case for the Sith Order (and not the Empire) actually being evil. Because the Sith Order was not above actual kidnapping, and murder to obtain new force sensitive kids to use in their academy.
