  1. The current movies, as well as The Clone Wars, and Rebels animated TV Series' are all considered Hard Canon by Disney. No questions asked.
  2. I believe they were talking about Force Unleashed specifically when they referred to scripted attacks and cutscenes as being Canon. You can't really include the video game version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic as canon in any way shape or form unless you are referring to a playthrough that is played strictly 100% exactly the way that it was intended to be played by the people who designed the game from a continuity point of view. This is because Knights of the Old Republic is very much a Role Playing Game where the decisions of the player severely alter the outcome of the game and no two playthroughs are going to be exactly the same, thus no two playthroughs are going to be any more or less canon than the other, which is to say they are not canon. The only aspect of Knights of the Old Republic that can be considered as canon (and it would be considered Legends as per Disney's new policy I believe) is the aspect that is listed by the developers as having actually occurred and influenced the greater expanded universe.
  3. Technically Plagueis is canon (sort of). He is directly mentioned by name in Star Wars Episode III (movie) by Palpatine during the Opera at Galaxies Opera House on Coruscant. However the way he is referenced makes him sound more like a mythological figure from an unknowable era of the past rather than an actual flesh and blood person from recent history. So the reality of his existence within the Star Wars Universe is of questionable status outside of the knowledge of his mythology. Take that any way you choose. Personally I choose to put Plagueis in the Star Wars equivalent to the same category of being as Hercules, King Arthur, and other notable personages from our own worlds history... at least until his literal existence is verified in a source that the new canon approves of.
  4. ROFLMAO, you're right, I did. I think it must have been caused by playing Final Fantasy X one too many times and having Yu Yevon seared into my brain.
  5. Not to be a complete arse, but you basically just said "4000 years before before battle of Yevon."
  6. Most people in the Star Wars Universe are taught how to understand Astromech Droids while they are still children for the simple fact that that type of Droid is in such high usage throughout the galaxy due to them being mobile Astrogation Computers. As for characters such as the Jedi, Sith, Bounty Hunters Troopers, Smugglers, and Imperial Agents knowing Alien Languages... Bounty Hunters earn their living hunting down rogue elements in the galaxy. Smugglers on the other hand ARE the rogue element. So knowing the languages used by said rogue elements is a significant boon to their profession. The most commonly used Alien Dialect in the Galaxy is Huttesse which is also the one that you will hear the most in Star Wars the Old Republic. It is the language that the Hutts speak natively. It is also the language of the Criminal Element. Imperial Agents are actually trained specifically to know as many languages as possible and to neutralize their accent whenever necessary. There is a significant element of acting that goes into their training as well. So them knowing just about any Alien Language they are likely to come across should be no surprise. Troopers probably receive similar linguistic training as Imperial Agents, just without as much training in acting. As for the Jedi and Sith, that is easier to explain than all the others. There are two Force Powers relating to Language. The first is Comprehend Speech, which is a sub-branch of the Telepathy Powers. It allows the Jedi or Sith employing it to understand the spoken language of any sentient that they may encounter. The other is known as Theran Force-Listening, this allows the Force User to actually understand the words spoken by another being without having to skim the meaning of the words off of their surface thoughts by using telepathy. The latter ability receives its most notable use when Ahsoka Tano is forced to use it to search for clues as to the location of Aurra Sing in the Coruscant Underworld where Galactic Basic isn't something that is normally spoken.
  7. I seriously hope English is not your native language, because that made absolutely no sense. I can only assume you meant to say: "Sorry, I did not post the first thing that I found, and I was not aware I shouldn't post it here." Slightly better but still makes little sense.
  8. If they did that though, would they also be doing the same thing for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1, since so much of Star Wars the Old Republic is based on the foundation that was laid by KOTOR?
  9. that doesn't exactly answer the question though does it?
  10. According to Disney's new policy all published material in the Star Wars Universe with the exception of the most recent releases of the two Star Wars Trilogies and Star Wars the Clone Wars that had been released prior to April 25th, 2014 is now to be considered at best to be part of the new Legends Category and may not be considered as official canon. However all content within the Star Wars Universe that has been released AFTER April 25th, 2014 can in fact be considered part of the new canon of the Star Wars Universe. The problem that I am having is that Star Wars the Old Republic was first released on December 20th, 2011, and as such should technically fall under the category of Star Wars Legends. However, the recently released Shadow of Revan expansion was released (and planned to be released) on December 9th, 2014, which falls well AFTER the date where things can officially be considered a part of the new "Disney Canon." So the question must be asked: Since this game is an ongoing evolving process of storytelling, are we considered by Disney to be actual Star Wars Canon? Or are we like the vast majority of the Star Wars Expanded Universe now considered part of the Legends Category and now little better than Star Wars Galaxies?
  11. Not only is everything that has already been said true, but the vast majority of the stuff that has appeared in Star Wars: The Old Republic, is actually 100% compatible with Disney Canon. The only area where we might possibly have potential conflicts is in regards to the absolute massive amounts of Anachronism present in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Seriously, Naga Sadow lived in circa 4,400 BBY; in his day and age they were using long shards of Crystals (or in some cases metals) as their version of Lightsabers. You can't go from that exceedingly primitive form of pre-metal technology to a laser sword in less than 800 years. I mean look at it here on earth, Flint Bladed Knives have been found dating back as far as 1.4 million years on this planet, and we STILL haven't progressed to Laser Swords. So how did they? Yeah this is an example of Anachronism at it's absolute finest. Granted the early proto-Jedi order appears to have had proto-lightsabers much earlier than that, but still, those weren't much better than heavy duty back pack battery powered devices that were more for dueling than actual combat.
  12. no.... just doesn't quite pull off the right kind of notes for the Operative. The Operative Theme Song is clearly as the Operative is just that Bad ***. And yes. The Firefly Themesong is definitely the Scoundrel's Themesong.
  13. You just turned me off of playing the Imperial Agent for a good long while. At least until I forget the ending enough that I feel comfortable playing it again. Which probably won't be for a while. So thank you [/sarcasm]
  14. Too true. Oppress never really learned traditional lightsaber styles. In fact I would be surprised to learn that he actually had the ability to use the Force to compensate for the inherent flaws in a weapon that is as unnaturally weighted as a Lightsaber happens to be. Instead he more or less just brute forced it. What I mean by this is that a Lightsaber is essentially just a sword. However unlike more traditional swords made out of metal, a Lightsaber only has any actual weight in the hilt. This means there is nothing for the wielder to put their own personal weight behind when they are making their attacks. As such it is exceedingly easy to put too much force into a swing and get your arm cut off by your opponents Lightsaber blade when you attempt to attack them simply by having their blade slide up under yours or something similar. The force when used by Jedi and Sith Lightsaber duelists acts as a counter-weight to the Hilt and allows the Jedi to more properly control their blade. However you have to be trained to be able to utilize the Force in this manner, and Oppress doesn't strike me as the sort of individual who had the patience for that kind of training as it likely involves long hours of intense meditation. Without having the force to act as a counterweight to the hilt, the only other way to really properly control a Lightsaber is the tried and true General Grievous Methodology. That is, to have Droid-based power and precision allowing you to overcome the flaws. And without either of those two methods an individual is just as likely to cut their own arm off, as they are to actually kill their opponent.
  15. He does? I seem to recall a few cutscenes on my old Marauder where I had both sabers out... the killing of the Black Talon's captain as an example if my memory is serving me properly. Then again, my memory isn't what it used to be. I feel so old in my age of 31 (nearly 32) XD
  16. Regardless of what you choose to do or not do, I do have one word of advice. DO NOT delete your existing characters until you have had a chance to transfer any and all credits, or items you wish to keep over to your new character. You may also wish to keep your characters altogether because you may find it desirable to have higher level characters to do certain types of content on that you can't do on lower level characters. I really hate you right now.
  17. Do I really need to point out that the Jedi Code is excruciatingly similar to the philosophy of Zen Buddhism? As such if Satele were to simply charge across a battlefield, killing people all willy nilly, without even attempting to incapacitate those people in a non-lethal manner, she would be in severe violation of the Jedi Code. In order for a Jedi to kill someone, there needs to be ample evidence that no possible alternative solution is available to them. This is why Satele did not kill all those nameless Sith in her charge towards Malgus. She did however brutally and permanently disable several droids, as droids have no life essence within the force for her to be concerned about snuffing out. It is also this habit of seeking to incapacitate rather than kill their opponents that often leads to a Jedi getting their arses royally handed to them by the Sith who have absolutely no problem going in for the kill right from the start of the fight. Not to mention any cousins, siblings, aunts, uncles, or what have you that Bastila Shan herself may have had, even if Satele Shan didn't have any immediate examples of those. Point is, genealogy is not so simple as "Mother and Father conceive a child, Child gets with a man and conceives her own kid, end of story" there are always going to be other extended family members, some of whom will share the same last name. In fact, the very fact that Satele shares her mothers last name is a bit of an oddity only made possible by the fact that Bioware never saw fit to give Revan a full and proper name, and as such he had no Surname to pass on to his heirs. Same thing is shaping up to occur again in this game with the main Player Characters who also don't have legitimate surnames within the game lore (and no, the player generated Legacy Names don't count).
  18. If you are talking about their use of things like "Force Lightning" while they are aligned with the Light Side of the Force, there is an Expanded Universe explanation for that. What they are actually using is a manifestation of Force Lightning that is referred to in the Expanded Universe as "Electric Judgment." Now while Force Lightning is traditionally assumed to be primarily a dark side power, Electric Judgment on the other hand is primarily a light side power. The differences between the two is that at least according to the Expanded Universe sources, Electric Judgment allegedly gives off Yellow or Emerald lightning, while Force Lightning gives off Purple, Red, or Blue lightning. Now while those are the traditional colors of these abilities, instances have occurred where Electric Judgment has had a color other than Emerald. Luke Skywalker's assumed use of Electric Judgment for example was a shade of blue. Additionally, anyone unfamiliar with Electric Judgment would automatically simply assume what they are using is just ordinary Force Lightning. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Electric_Judgment - relevant wiki article.
  19. And taken the other direction... Khem Val is technically speaking humanoid in that he is roughly the same size and shape as an adult human male. However his appearance, like Blizz's doesn't change all that much with the armor you equip him with. I could easily see a player character race of either the Dashade, Ewok, Sandperson (heck we already have the armor to make that one work), or Jawa categories being introduced at some point. And I think that along with the Togruta that people would pay heaps of money to be able to play a Nautolan in this game.
  20. This is completely and blatantly false. Mace Windu would have defeated Chancellor Palpatine (aka Darth Sidious) if it were not for the outside interference of Anakin Skywalker. This is entirely due to the style of Lightsaber Combat that Mace Windu employs that allows him to feed off of and negate the Dark Side Powers of his opponent so completely that he is able to redirect their attacks back onto them instead. Additionally Yoda himself was able to fight Count Dooku, who was arguably the best Lightsaber Swordsman in existence, to a complete standstill. The only reason Yoda did not win that fight was because he was busy defending Anakin and Obi-Wan from getting crushed to death by debris that Dooku was tossing around all willy nilly. Point is that there are in fact Jedi in existence who are capable of fighting Sith to a complete standstill, if not outright defeating them. Satele Shan did not get her rank of Grand Master due to mere Nepotism. She earned her rank due to having survived multiple encounters with the Sith, and also due to being a successful military combatant. She has incredible control over the telekinetic aspects of the force, and if you need any more proof of that aside from the fact that she was able to toss Malgus several meters into a mountain, pin him there, and then proceed to hurl a concussive blast of energy that brought the entire mountain down on top of him, I don't know what else I can provide to prove that point. She also has significant control over the Shatterpoint Ability, up to and including being able to shatter Blast Doors, which are doors designed to defend against Nuclear Attack. Further her Battle Meditation is confirmed to be one of the strongest in the current Jedi Order. Meaning she can use her powers to bolster entire armies. That in and of itself is not insignificant. Sidious didn't "Let" Windu do anything. Mace Windu is the creator of the Lightsaber Style known as Vaapad, which is a variation of Form VII that differs from the more traditional form of Juyo. Vaapad is specifically designed by Mace Windu to draw upon the dark emotions and energy generated by his opponent and channel it in a more constructive manner. In this way the user of Vaapad could essentially negate the Dark Side powers of any Sith he or she were to face, up to the point where they are actually able to redirect things such as Force Lightning back at the person using it. This is what was happening in Mace Windu's fight with Sidious. Sidious didn't let Mace Windu get the upper hand, Mace Windu automatically had the upper hand simply by creating a style that was specifically designed to utterly destroy Dark Side users.
  21. You know, its kind of sad when a person who doesn't have their own distinct unique personal self consciousness can be considered the single most sane and level headed member in any given group of people.
  22. I also tend to agree. Most of the female PC's romance options are kind of pathetic. However I personally kind of want to see if they managed to write the hive mind romance option in anyway close to resembling a realistic manner. I am an avid Trekkie, and am acutely aware of just how difficult it is for people to actually write characters involved in a honest to god Hive Mind. This is because Hive Minds are so far outside the realm of the thought process of what humans are used to when it comes to their own personal thought processes that invariably it requires some level of individual distinctiveness being forced upon the Hive Mind (ala Locutus of Borg, and the Borg Queen). So I am personally interested to see if Bioware managed to pull it off the way I would hope. And please don't spoil the storyline for me, I want to play it through. That said, the only other romance from the female side that I am even REMOTELY interested in, is that of Tharan Cedrax on the Jedi Consular. And this has absolutely nothing to do with Tharan himself, and absolutely everything to do with Holiday. Personally I wish it was Holiday who was romance-able. I know, I have problems. I have things for Hive Minds and Robot Girls / Holograms XD
  23. Only play Sith Inquisitor as a Lightside character if it is your intention to romance Ashara Zavros. Otherwise you will get far more enjoyment out of the class by being dark side. Seriously, half the fun of that class is constantly being able to hit people you don't like in Cutscenes with Force Lightning. Sith Warrior is fun to play as a Lightside character because the entire point of the class story is to play your mentor figure for the fool that he is, and being Lightsided makes it all the more fun to do. Bounty Hunter can go either way. But it is easier to romance Mako as lightsided. Not sure about the female romance options though.
  24. Honestly, I haven't gotten to that part of the Imperial Agent storyline yet... but Vector Hyllis can't be a worse romancing option than the Borg Queen can he? My personal choice for additional companion material comes from the Jedi Knight Storyline: I really wanted to take Ranna Tao'Ven with me when I left Tython. I really really did.
  25. If you are only responding to one person, it would probably be best if you didn't break up their post into multiple tiers of quotes for your response to them. That way your post isn't a wall of text.
