Have you tried taking the defence boost on cloud mind? or the 30 % less periodic damage? or 30% less damage when stunned? our bubble stun? or any of the many other defences a sorc has? The underlying problem is that sorcs were originally designed to be a squishy high damage class. Unfortunately people cried they wanted high defences as well. So now the sorc is left in a terrible middle ground of having great defences but still being quiet squishy if people don't use them, and no dps. While this is not a great place to be look at pts. They were designed to be a hard hitting mid range class with some defences so sorc players can thank bioware they still have something. So to brainstorm ideas, how about we leave sorcs where they are. We don't want to turn them into vastly OP gods again. They have the best bar none dcds. They have self heals. They have amazing resource management. They have good utilities. They have the best Mobility it is entirely directional and no charges to build, with a very short cooldown, and phasewalk. They are the easiest class to play offensively and healing. They have mediocre damage. When compared to other classes they still come out way up the table. Here's another brainstorming idea nerf sorc healers who have a defensive buff on every heal as well and make Lightening sorc damage be more useful exactly where it is.

Change the title to something more correct. Do sorc healers make pvp pointless?

Nerf the sorc heals and buff the dps of other classes that aren't Arsenal, sniper, or sorc. Job done. We then have pvp with kills and all is good again. Maras and ops may need a light treatment, but I wouldn't put them in the same category as the three mentioned.

The defences were added to try and make merc healers in some way viable. It nearly did except their escapes, heals, resource management and armour bonus to heals are still far inferior to sorcs. If you nerf the defences then body guards are a non starter again. Everybody forgets that the merc healer in 4.x was a waste. It's the Arsenal spec alone that is to powerful.

The aoe was made much much larger and the range was increased. so yes now it is a problem, before it was annoying, now with all the snipers knockbacks and defences and the larger area it's down right game breaking.

Absolutely agree with you if you gave jugs and vanguards some of the defences the sorcs mercs and snipers have, the tank classes would be unstoppable. But should those three classes have the dps that defines matches to go with their dcds? I personally think that's the point of balance. I would love to see jugs, pts, and possibly maras turn into real wrecking machines to make up for the lack of dcds. Putting the extra on spec only skills would avoid crossover. Get the ttk back to reasonable by having real destructive classes again. Then people can choose dps or survivability.

Phase walk is better than other stealth skills, as you cannot aoe the target to break stealth. So sorcs it can easily be said are adjusted to tier 2. Which leaves tier 3 as Jugs and Pts. Ok last post for me on the subject as it's all getting a bit silly and insulting from some quarters. What Marstrike is trying to say is, when Swtor first hit the market many PCs had problems running it. Most where on AMD cpus or Radeon graphics cards. AMD is a great factory, and put some amazing changes in place in the mid 00s which really came into fruition over recent years. If you get the chance to see the inside of these factories even through video they are breathtakingly complex. However early noughties they really lagged behind Intel. The problem was as he stated the engine they chose was not a good choice. They wanted to take something basic that already existed and make it their own, they didn't fail as we can see today, but the overall product was compromised by the wrong foundations. These problems existed on low to middle spec PCs of the time. Many fixes were applied and a relaunch came with free to play. In your specific case though none of this matters. Marstrikes error is to apply generalisation to specific situation, or bad journalism. In your particular case none of the things he is saying are valid, but at the time quite a news worthy topic. So in short you have learned a little about how complex it is to sort an error out if you don't know a full system, hence why I suggesting using customer support in the first case. Ok, so you are going to persist. As you stated Swtor was developed on lesser systems and as you admit final test (as I stated) would be on systems similar to the one described. No mention of evil software giants by me. I merely stated that MS published free upgrades and recommended the windows 10 OS for computers that would not run it particularly well. I think that is common knowledge. Windows 10 and newer graphics cards are fantastic for the future of computing and are designed to deal with different circumstance and software to older computers, for example VR. I am a great believer in the development of technology and would in no way stand in the way of progress. However many people are sold things they do not need and are not better for what they are trying to achieve. Swtor runs fine on systems with slightly less spec than the one described I know I have tested it myself. As the OP states things got better with start up variations and disk cleans. I mentioned upgrading the wireless connection before the OP stated he had a hard wire system purely because we have many more devices in our homes that use wireless and a 5g system uses 2 connections for better stability. Ranked is never going to be balanced. Never in the history of internet gaming has all things been created equal. Even original gauntlet had Sheba as a slightly better character because of the very small size difference. Sorcs are fine, and have so many tools if used correctly from the start of the fight means you don't have to run off and heal. The first tip however is not to lead the charge. Sorc dps classes are now fine because they are slightly above average in terms of dps to dcd to manoeuvrability ratio etc . That means in the pack. To put it another way balanced. Mercs and snipers are not they need a changes. I would suggest the utility for mercs that gives them a shortened timer on their shield gone, and snipers losing cover advantages they have enough dcds now. Pt's are not balanced, they need either to be the true glass cannons they are and have dps buffed or have some dcds or cc added. Juggs sorry I can't comment as I haven't played one much in 5.x. Not a millennial by a long, long, way. I just use the English language in a descriptive way. I don't want to get into all the snide remarks that normally trade at this point just to say check the dates of anything written regarding the hero engine. A 2nd gen i7 was produced in 2010, 2011 time so these where the computers swtor was built on. Swtor has also gone through many tiers of upgrade since release, it even has different graphics capabilities. We all know the stories and crying that surrounded Biowares design choices, but can I suggest that they were mostly made by people running dual core and single core cpus? Can I also suggest if you are using a computer that the game was built and tested on it might run, well, rather quite well. But yes let's stay out the snide, and act like adults shall we?

Sorcs get 2 cc breakers unlike most other classes. 1 normal breaker 1 on bubble. Again sorcs have an advantage so please find a different line to argue that sorcs have it bad. You only point out there strong suits.

I worked in tech journalism for a long time and the disposable age kind of bugs me a bit. 360 degrees has a good clean up tool for free if still feel you need it, and I was thinking today did you upgrade to windows 10 when Microsoft harassed everyone into it? If you did there is an in windows way to roll back to 7. Windows 10 is a nightmare for older systems, and 7 still good.

Again comparing sorcs to mercs. Now try comparing sorcs to pts, jugs, maras, even operatives aren't as healthy in in bloated defences department as sorcs. 2nd gen i7, gtx 560 8 gb ram, hard wired connection. 60fps measured by overwolf. running medium settings. What background rubbish have you all got running? Swap the 560 for a 670 and it's max settings. No overclocking, no extreme cooling.

Most of these are asking for God mode sorcs again. Why should a sorc top the dps tree when they have such amazing defences? A PT has to worry about resources and has no defences to speak of. If you want a glass cannon it should be a glass cannon and take a PT. In ranked it's always flavour of the month team v exactly the same flavour of the month team. He stated an i7. Intel not AMD. Your problem was the cheap chip his is different. I can run the game lowest settings (maybe more I didn't try) on an old 3rd generation i3 laptop. But you did the right thing keeping the 970. So much better than a 1050 as long as you have a 4gb version. 2GB is ok but we all love more and really high end bad console ports need the extra for max settings.

Yes some relics still proc others do not. The timer on the relics would mean even if they did proc on the secondhand which I do not think they do would make any advantage insignificant. This would be better in a support forum and for bioware themselves to answer.

They don't come out on top but have the best dcds on list. So many ways to stay alive. Or should they put out the same numbers as a pt with lower amounts of defences? The problem with sorc burst is sorc healing. Sorcs pulling 8hps is just plain ridiculous. A healing class running around spamming aoe heals with no thought to resources at all is wrong. It is game braking. Has been for over 2 years. Give the free resources whenever you want them button a cooldown like every other class and like it had before, or at least make the sorcs have to charge it like a mara. It's ridiculous.

I did some tests and got the game to run at 60 fps on a 410m i3. Lowest settings though. So I would suggest it is your connection. The Belkin adapter uses 2 signals for a more stable connection so if you run an efficiency test you should get 40m-80m baud depending on your connection speed. Other things you could try are ask your broadband supplier for the latest router and ask them to check true connection speeds. 90% of your hardware is fine to run the game. Most people get information from magazines and magazines are there to sell products. Replacing your laptop with anything other than another i7 is a downgrade. If a new i5 works yours is better.
