  1. Sounds like you may be confusing HK-51 with HK-55. 55 is the HK droid along for all the prior chapters and then dies. 51 doesn't join you until the cantina scene. The female character is mistaking 51 for 55 and acting like 51 was around for all the prior stuff. HK-51 is merely expressing his confusion over things he wasn't present for and doesn't know and wondering why she thinks he should know.
  2. I've never much enjoyed it and don't know that the removal would make much difference but I suppose not having that gear disadvantage would help make it more palatable to try. Really though, I've never understood the point of Expertise anyways. The folks who will have the most of it are the PVP gurus who should least need it while the noobs will have none and get slaughtered trying to gain the comms so they can get some. This assumes the noobs don't just walk away altogether and give up on PVP after getting their teeth kicked in so far by some BiS PVP geared stomper they're flossing their bellybutton. It just seems to me that PVP should really be all about skill and not about gear or stats. If I'm going to get crushed in PVP, I'd rather lose to someone who beat me with superior skill than lose to someone whose primary advantage was their superior gear. In the first case, I might at least get a solid hit in before being dismembered.
  3. I'm not keen on PVP walls for companions. I can suck it up and slog my way through (and have) but it simply isn't enjoyable. GSF would be a bridge too far for me though. I'm susceptible to major motion sickness when even just watching any sort of flight simulator so playing one is just right out. Those would be companions I'd just never get as I'm pretty sure no team is going to want a pilot who flies around with their eyes shut or the monitor turned off.
  4. I had trouble with this too and wondered why the heck they even made you go through this hoop but here's the deal. Go to fleet and talk to one of the Ops vendors. Somewhere down towards the lower part of their inventory list, IIRC, you'll find an 'unlocked' version of the container for sale. The token to buy it is your locked ones. They trade 1:1 so you can convert all your locked tokens into unlocked containers.
  5. So to clarify, you can take an insta-60 through the class lines provided you don't start the new FE content beforehand?
  6. As many as you want really. Once they are dug up, anyone can click on them while they are visible. One person has to do all the legwork getting the series of buffs to get them dug up but after that, they are fair game for anyone until they reset. And they are buggy when you click too. They don't do the little cutscene like others do and they give credit for presently nonexistent codex entries, but you will get your stat boosts. Though nothing in the chat logs will say so when it happens, you'll see your stats go up if you're watching them.
  7. What's really inane is the fact that the three magic items you have to camp for are all grey. One moment of inattention at a vendor or sending your comp off to take out the trash and all your work is wasted. Thanks for playing, now please start over. I only lost one to that bit of stupid design but it is still annoying. Considered submitting a ticket but given the glacial speed of CS in this game, I can probably spawn camp a replacement faster.
  8. Sure it is an option. They could release a final build days or a week before for folks to download. IF they make changes in the interim that need to go in at launch, they can roll them into a patch for launch day. The bulk of the code is probably set even now, they just need to test and run numbers for the new skill system and such. It isn't that hard a concept, it just needs implementing.
  9. I played CoH and whenever they did a big content expansion, the patcher would start downloading the files like a week before. When the content went live, it would install the already-downloaded files and then (if needed) download any much smaller patches that might be needed to last-minute-fix something in the new content. It made big updates and expansions go a lot smoother for everyone. Only those who hadn't played for the previous week were left needing to do big overnight/whenever downloads. If you'd been on before, you most likely had everything and just had to wait for it to install before you could jump in to the new stuff.
  10. Wondering if, as SOR will presumambly be a big monster of a patch, there was any chance it would be downloadable early. Have the content stay off till launch day, but have downloads start a few days or a week before. That way folks can go ahead and get it in place a bit more leisurely and not be competing for bandwith from a slammed update server the minute it goes live. Just thinking it would make everyone's life a tad easier. So how about it?
  11. And here I was considering doing the Gree event for the first time, hoping they had fixed all the griefing I had heard complaint of before. Guess I won't bother. I really believe that on a PVE server, you should be able to lock your flag to 'off' such that you have to manually turn it 'on' for it to ever be such. There should never be a situation where a PVE player is tricked or forced into PVP. PVP should always be intentional and voluntary.
  12. I've seen this happen more than once when visiting Tatooine at various points this year as well as hearing folks complain in chat about the balloon vanishing or ejecting riders. Rather surprised you guys didn't know about it, the playerbase is well aware of it.
  13. Dumb questions perhaps, but from reading here, the speeder bits (that can be obtained) are basically just random drops from digging? There's no 'if you want part X, dig here'? And can they be gotten while digging for the quests/dailies?
  14. Your tanks are Fess(melee) and Iresso(ranged). Iresso you'll get on Hoth. Nadia comes at the end of Belsavis and she is melee dps. She is Willpower based so yes you can give her your castoffs and she's not bad. Tharan is all healer so pretty redundant to use him and Zenith could be usable I suppose but he's ranged dps so probably not optimal.
  15. Companion affection influences their speed of performing crew missions as well as their chance of getting a critical on the mission. It also allows you to do their story arcs and romance some of them. Each one you max out will give a legacy buff to your Presence stat on all characters. And maxing one of each type gives a buff (I forget the specifics) as well as enhancing your Heroic Moment. Or that may be the buff (?). Anyways it is a worthwhile thing to do. And as the gifts are somewhat tricky to search for on the GTN, they don't tend to sell super well. So you'll likely get more out of them by using them. And you can mail ones you don't need to alts for their companions.
  16. I'll offer a couple suggestions myself. I use an older version of this myself. Obviously it isn't built for lefties but with some creative desk arranging, you might be able to get it oriented in a manner you could use. The game control area is pretty easy to use with big movement buttons and you can use the smaller buttons to fire abilities and such. Not ideal perhaps but might work. The other alternative would be to do some looking for a gamepad. A few keyboard/mouse makers have them. They're like a mini keyboard with some sort of directional keys and a small array of programmable keys for attacks and such. That might prove to be a more comfortable alternative to the full keyboard.
  17. Empty shell cartel armor is moddable and something you can keep upgrading throughout your character's career. If your old armor was moddable, you can extract the mods from it to put in the cartel armor. This will cost you credits though. Otherwise, you can get the mods you need from commendation vendors, certain vendors that sell mods for credits, crafting skills, and the GTN. Mods are also given out sometimes as mission rewards and they do drop from mobs sometimes. Until you get it filled, the armor is going to be pretty worthless. But once you do, it can be very very good. The key is going to be keeping it up to date with current mod pieces.
  18. I came here from City of Heroes when it closed. There you had lots of dynamic stuff going on like what is suggested. There were civilians wandering everywhere in the city zones, cars driving by, civvies being mugged by thugs, etc. Civilians would panic and run about when a fight happened or they encountered a hostile mob. And on top of all that we had chat bubbles for everything. Players talked of course but so would mobs and npcs. You could even click on the civilians and they'd say stuff to you in a chat bubble. For that matter, the game had day/night cycles, variable wind that would blow trash and leaves about as well as capes and such on those who had them. It also had dynamic reflections on water, shop windows and other shiny surfaces. All of that in one game and it worked very well. So it CAN be done and done well, just takes dev commitment to make it happen.
  19. Going back on topic... So would it be safe to say that any attack that directly involves using your weapon(s) like shooting a target or whacking them with a lightsaber always constitutes a ranged/melee attack and that any other sort of attack like a grenade or force lightning is a tech/force attack? And I'm presuming there are no attacks that mix types such as a lightsaber attack being both melee and force at the same time.
  20. Also worth noting that you can order him to attack a blinded target yourself and he will do so. Companions will generally ignore CC'd targets but can be forced to attack them by you.
  21. As I stated above, there was a bug with the mail that delivers the items. This was supposedly fixed in today's patch. You'll have to either delete and remake your toon or contact customer support to get your missing stuff. Normally, all the items show up together in the mail when the character is made.
  22. Not really my experience. I bought a low end speeder on my first toon just because I liked the look and quickly found that there was definitely a difference between it and the STAP when it came to getting knocked off. The normal speeder offered pretty much no protection at all. One shot and I was on the ground. With the STAP I can frequently skim past mobs and not get knocked off unless I get really hammered.
  23. The only really useful ones to me are the free adaptive speeder and the VIP wristband. No need to ever spend credits on a speeder unless you really want to and you get access to the VIP area of the fleet. The VIP area got useful when they put in the GTN terminal, mailbox and bay access points. They're all right together for easy access and that area is usually much quieter and less laggy than the public terminals. The rest of the stuff is pretty much all fluff. And there's a known bug right now. Newly created characters aren't getting their correct goodie bag in the mail. They just get two flare guns and nothing else. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=609085
  24. Haven't played Imp yet but I'd expect it to follow what's on Pub side. There the stations are on the fleet in the crew skill area as well as the capitol world and the two starter planets. Don't think I've ever found one anywhere else. So those are the places I'd look on Imp side for them. Why they aren't more prevalent, IDK, but then they aren't used all that much either.
