  1. Could do an optional NPC shooting or training on the dummy as well as a variation.
  2. Delete the thread please.
  3. Lost influence could pool I guess to be used for something else. But story trumphs gameplay for this one, for me. Much rather have companions that can die, change alignments, double cross you, or be killed off by the character than those that remain static. As well as those you can spare or be redeemed of course All that said, a few static crafting companions would be nice with no real combat value, make them droids or non combatants if you like. No story time needed, just a line or two of hello and how you doing etc when you click them.
  4. How about you get to challenge someone if they are a bot, once someone, or anyone has, they are fine for the rest of the day and eternally so from the challenging player. They must have just been in combat to be challenged. (5 minutes or less ago, pvp/duels don't count) They must not have been challenged unsuccessfully for 24 hours. The challenge is made very, very simple for a human but bot proof. There is no time limit on a challenge but failure to get it right means a trip back to the med center. You can only challenge someone once, unless they fail it. Every time they fail it, a GM can see these strikes and think hmm that player has all these strikes against them, helping to weigh evidence of botting in future encounters. Ignored players can't challenge you. Players can issue a max of 3 unsuccessful challenges a day. All these safeguards should prevent abuse, the most anyone will ever have to put up with is a couple of people bugging them once.
  5. Without the force you'll be toast using a lightsaber, more a danger to yourself than your opponent in most cases. Even trained in the jedi arts and forms, you can't match the speed, power, instincts and natural affinity for the weapon. Even given the thread title, I don't think however the OP was suggesting a non force user using a lightsaber, but becoming a force user at a later date through the story instead. I am also well aware guys like this exist in comparison for speed, but they are really the 1 in a million human beings on the planet. And he gets haters for showing off his techniques which is quite sad.
  6. Exactly, I am not sure why this exists in no form at all, even if it runs with the system they are currently using. Retaining customers is the object of any business, and being rewarded for loyalty is welcomed by most customers. Puzzling for certain.
  7. Pretty simple really. From Today, every day or month you are subscribed makes you eligible for new unlocks, known as veteran rewards in other MMO's. Totaling these months up is the more common way to do it. This ensures they get regular income from those who want the unlocks, (if they are appealing enough I doubt there'll find HK-themed rewards will hold up to a full companion for example in popularity) You could even do this in tandem with the current model. How I'd personally do it, is have 2 unlocks each month, one at the start, one at the end, so it even gives the appearance its continually happening , but I am no doubt giving them ideas.
  8. Because it was always done this way - Isn't a good argument for anything done from this point on. Time subscribed totaled up should count for more, from a business and loyalty standpoint.
  9. Instead of a clever after X period of subscribing time he unlocks - making it available to subscribers but still rewarding them for sustaining a sub. Nico is a if you were not in the club by X point you can't get in the club. Bizarre design choice when you compare the two, especially for people that were not even present at that time, but there you have it. If the goal is to sustain subs, what BW should do is look at unlocks that happen after an extended period subscribed, to sustain subs for an extended period - logic 101. ^That out of the way, it baffles me why people don't want him in the CM costing a lot. People pay money, your game gets more funds, you get more content. As it is, meh one less thing for me to buy, i'll get over it. This whole exclusive content deal, if you were in the right place at the right time is too haphazard a way to do anything without causing ill feeling, as demonstrated here in posters and the issue will relapse repeatedly.
  10. I've roleplayed jedi generals and a military jedi who walked the line between codes on a major starwars site long before it was cool , with all the flak you can possibly imagine that went along with it. He was one of my favorite characters I have ever written because of the conflicts this presented, but also that he was very firm in his own convictions, never straying towards a darkside mentality. That and it opened up anti forcer options for the character using non conventional tech - So that wasn't a pro conformity post above. This was a pro class post, and a pro consider the time and extra work you'd need in story telling to make that Jedi Smuggler make sense when he speaks to other characters. So people aren't saying he was somewhere he wasn't or referring to an event he never took part in. The pro class aspect speaks about pvp and pve group content, and the balance that is maintained by Jedi not having blaster skills. I was and still am a fan of having storylines for characters to change alignments or classes, (post 60) but that doesn't mean it wouldn't take work in the storytelling side of things, and the fact it might make having many characters redundant if you can change more than once.
  11. A year+ away, and now enjoying the continuations of the story which we argued for a lot during the production of swtor. Really great to see it happening as a focus of development, I have old class stories to finish and new story content ahead of that, never a better time to be a returning or new player. Just grabbed the tatooine stronghold, quite a lot of work ahead to fill it , impressive sight but I have retreated to Nar Shadda for an easier task. I have unfortunately spent a lot in cartel coins , but happy to support the direction the game has gone (story focused). As for people justifying negative posts, no need. Just as there is no need to justify a positive post. Do as you like, apologize to no one for expressing an opinion. The only real thing to think on is how you express it and why.
  12. They don't tend to do cross class stories or rather transfers from one class to another, though it'd be fun to play out a storyline where you switch classes like that, it'd obviously take a lot more work for it to make sense when people are talking to you. If it's just a case of asking if smugglers should get lightsabers and jedi blasters, hopefully not , there needs to be some class distinction to make different classes have a purpose.
  13. /signed Just spent 3.5 mil to get a variation of a pacing sith, the last one I might add we'll see for a while unless someone gets lucky and doesn't want it with a chance cube. With no access to previous packs choice is very limited. Bang out a few NPCs, heck even use existing ones I don't care, you've got hundreds of assets right?
  14. Could try some youtube playlists of Swtor, Kotor or starwars movie music
  15. And story chapters with some meat on them. Which brought me back anyway, after a very long absence. There have been some favorable reviews floating around about them, even some new popular streamers etc.
  16. Correct because it wouldn't cost a lot of time or money to implement something that already exists. No it's much more likely a design choice for the cutscenes and story. Customizing the companions is a portion of my time spent playing. Understandably people enjoy different aspects of the gameplay, this should come as no surprise to anyone that when something is removed, those people will then comment on it negatively. Also I want to add to this, it is quite possible it has also been done to increase the sales of companion customisation options on the cartel market at a later date.
  17. Alderaan - Would pay good money for an alderaan stronghold but i'd like a palace or a chateau I think the starter worlds are a better choice or Taris perhaps even more so. I've seen this type of thread around a few times, a simple one room utility stronghold.
  18. The naming point is fairly mute, I am sure this was tried already many times. The equipment point is valid though for a PC but not a companion. I however have no idea how well the equipment scales to size. Personally i'd rather have them focus on returning companions, for companions but for a PC, it depends how well the gear scales I guess.
  19. 1) Companions are somewhat overpowered, yes I agree tweaking them was fun but on balance I prefer the changes to be able to set them to heal/damage or tank as I like. I don't know how you could view them as underpowered now, perhaps with no influence? 3) Your level is nerfed but you are still overpowered for the zone if you enter massively above the gear/level requirements. - They did this because the amount of exp you get now is way too much for some players, they even turned off exploration quests by default. I don't want to be any more overpowered as I am going through my storyline. (Please read this as storyline not just classline) I personally want the option of a hard mode, that either nerfs me even more or increases the storyline difficulty. I think the first would be easier to do, as it just requires tweaks to me rather than the story.
  20. Yet you are. Sorry to be blunt but that's exactly what your first post was. It boiled down to: Don't have that opinion, because it doesn't value certain aspects of the game the way I do, sadly to respond to that, I have to at least connect with a response that is similar to lead somewhere else. Many people play the game for the companions, stories and PVE content. These people will need to PVP to get the companion. Those that don't like it, won't like it, they will make threads about it to express that in a discussion forum for discussing the game. The way that compares for a PVP'er is the PVPer needs all the skills to stay competitive in PVP, its what he or she loves doing, ditto for companions and many PVE'ers, or even players geared toward achievements to an extent, that's why it is comparable. I wasn't aware he had no dialogue at all. - But as for lying, get your facts straight and quote me where I said he did above.
  21. Obvious bad design choice is obvious. People doing something they don't like to do, in a hobby, will cause them to become frustrated. Some will post about it. Some will moan that they are posting about it. This will be the thread.
  22. It's not as comparable to gear as it is skills. Gear is everywhere and numerous. It's more akin to pvp'ers not getting a certain type of skill or evener for use in PVP, that's the only real weight I can give companions for a PVE player to compare for you, as the majority of the PVE content is based around the story and those you bring with you. This kind of thread should have been expected. Anything that requires PVE for a PVP'er to experience content centric to PVP should receive the same thread. As for your whining, you suck it up yourself and stop whining about the whining, oh look we've done a loop. This type of thread has existed since the dawn of time, and always has the same responses from both sides in any MMO. Just go do PVE - PVP Player no. Just go do PVP - PVE Player no. That's about it, and why they don't cross content in most MMO's.
  23. For gear I am all for this, to show achievement. For companions I lean no. Most people are going to want the companions and so most people are going to be pvping at some point, even if they detest it. As someone who pvp's from casually to more so in most MMO's, it won't bother me, but I can see full well why it might if I detested the PVP there. There have been one or two over the years I have done, mostly those with massive spawn camping and no safe zones (and people saying just deal with it, so I do and leave) but I digress. PVP'ers, I can also see why they would think, oh well scrub your companion and use another, but for the PVE'er the companions are often one of the major parts of the game. TL;DR It breaks the cardinal rule of PVE and PVP, never force someone who plays for PVP to do more PVE than needs be, and never force someone who plays for PVE to do more PVP than needs be.
  24. I might sound like a broken record talking around this subject but sadly its relevant, prices for many things are going to go up not down. Why is this you say, well because of the cartel packs being taken off. How does this impact the economy, because anything from a pack is now worth x5 to x10 more than it was. Why? Because when it gets taken off, you suddenly have an exclusive product, its much like a housing price boom for want of a better example, where the economy inflates. Now I know supply - demand dictates the final prices on everything, but the availability of spending now should be higher overall, at least for anyone speculating or holding goods. Though of course crystals are not a one time use, you can just remove them, both of these at least should stay fairly stable with a small increase overall.
  25. Nope leave people their raids and ask instead for more solo or 2+ content if that is what you are looking for, no need to take away what other people already have. If it is about gear - Raiders should have raiding gear, PVP'ers should have pvp gear and PVE'ers should have PVE gear, all unique, all as a reward for doing that thing. For anyone wondering this sort of thread has gone on since the dawn of raids, it is nothing new, or anything to do with new gamers.
