  1. The Older Republic has officially moved to the Corellian Run server! Come join us for some 40 and Older fun. We have guilds on both the Republic and Empire sides. This Friday at 8pm EDT (GMT -4), we will be hosting the "Chubby Chiss 500" on Hutta. The Older Empire is going to roll a bunch of type 4 body Chiss and roll around Hutta like a bunch of giant blueberries. Feel free to come watch the fun, and to join us, type in /cjoin Older to join our channel. The link for our website is in my signature!
  2. Ooops, that was my bad. I was tired and didn't look at the last post date before posting. >.<
  3. I don't support a ban. I've had a fair bit of problems with my internet disconnecting me (thanks, Comcast), and having a PvP ban on top of the extreme irritation of the internet disconnection would drive me crazy. Also, sometimes I just have a family emergency that needs dealing with RIGHT THEN, and have to leave a match. It happens when you're a parent. I have some guild mates who have a lot of trouble with the game disconnecting them when they go through a loading zone, especially since the 1.2 update. Banning these people for a game problem wouldn't be fair.
  4. Older Republic and Older Empire will indeed be moving to Corellian Run. We are in the process of setting up our guilds there as I write this. I am looking forward to gaming with even more 'seasoned' gamers! If you want to join us, just click the link in my signature and it will take you to our guild forum site. We should have an older channel set up in game. If you type /cjoin Older and hit enter, we will be able to chat. It may take a week or two to fully transfer over, however.
  5. Most of the Bartenders I know get off work at 4am and go home to crash rather than game. That being said, I only know about 5 or so, so the other 595 might indeed be logging in to the game. Thanks for all your work on this--the data are very interesting.
  6. We sure did get it started! We're on the Sith Wyrm server (and hopefully we'll be a destination server). Check out our website (link in my signature below), roll a toon on Sith Wyrm if you don't have on there already, type "/cjoin Older" (minus the quotes), hit enter, and type a 'hello' in our chat channel. We'll be happy to help you all out!
  7. Come on over to the Sith Wyrm server if you don't have a toon there already, and type /cjoin Older, then hit enter. We've got guilds in both factions, though the Republic side is more populated than the Imp side right now. That being said, Shaolynn on his Sith Inquisitor tried to wup my Shadow Consular in some friendly pre-made PvP matches tonight, so we do have some fun on both sides of the Force. We had a great time. He died a lot more than me. Then we ran Taral V in hardmode, and cheered on a guildmate who made it to level 49 tonight. If you click the link in my signature, you'll be able to access our website, check out our calendar, and see what we're doing that day. Mostly, we just enjoy gaming with folks who are beyond being worried about whether the zit will go away in time for the Prom.
  8. Alastair, thanks for the courage in posting this, despite the fact that there will likely be many non-constructive trolling posts. Just skip past those. --I think World PvP has great potential if the devs put more rewards in, balance it to a certain degree so one side doesn't completely overwhelm the other, and fix the graphics problems that caused people to disconnect. Incentivize people to play there, and they will. --Simple fix to make End game gear more meaningful again for PvP--add expertise to Tionese, Columi, Black Hole, and Rakata gear. --Be more aggressive in dealing with PvP hacking. We have a few on the Sith Wyrm server, and I've reported them. Every time I'm in a match against them, I nearly hit the button to quit the queue. I know other people do quit when they see certain hackers, just because it's impossible to win and get any kind of decent medals. --Add in some cool costume gear! LOTRO has a great system where you can equip your regular gear, but any gear that you've earned in special events or in game can be put into a special 'costume' slot so that this costume's appearance is what shows in game, while keeping the stats of the main gear. I love the amazing detailing and artwork in Columi gear, but I despise the ugly shoulder and vambrace pads on my Consular. If you implement the costume appearance, I guarantee you it'll get used. This would be a great way to add in more legacy unlocks (legacy 10 lets you guy Cool Hat A, legacy 20 gives you Cool Hat B, etc.), crafting opportunities, special event rewards (like the containment officer outfit for the Rakghoul event, and so on. --Do more world events like the Rakghoul plague!!! That was SO much fun, I logged in to play those quests nearly every day of the event. I loved it and want to see more like it. Recurring yearly events (like Canthan New Year or Wintersday in Guild Wars, or Spring and Summer Festivals in LOTRO) would be great fun and encourage the community to get together. I agree on the in-game tools. It is brutally difficult to get some guildmates to go look at our own forum event calendar. Operations and PvP signups in game would keep them in game and make life a LOT easier for us guild officers. I love the social points feature--it encourages grouping. Consider adding more social gear options for costume appearances, and perhaps more social weapon skins, too. More mini-pets would be great! Move to mega-servers or merge servers. We have way too many low-populations servers. The PR hit sucks, it'll suck if I have to change names, but you know what? It'll be better for the entire community in the long run.
  9. We have a bunch of us over on the Sith Wyrm server (PvE East) who are 40-ish and better. If you want to join a group that levels regularly, PvPs, and does ops, come join us. We have guilds in both sides of the Force. Just click on the link in my sig to check out our website. If you have questions, type '/cjoin Older' on the Republic side, and type out your message in our channel.
  10. Yep, I was one of those who saw Star Wars in a theater, too, but my dad waited to see it until he didn't have to have younger kids in a long line. We have a thriving 40-and-older guild now, and we welcome more to join us. The link is in my signature.
  11. Part of the Community Manager's job is to bring people INTO the community from outside the game. This includes new players, the media, and so on. One of the best ways to reach out to gaming media and potential new players is on--you guessed it--Facebook and Twitter. I had no problems with him posting on social media to update us. It was extremely helpful when the forums were down, too. I hope he finds a new job very soon! Good luck to all the rest of the BioWare folks who lost their jobs, too. I hope you all find something terrific very soon.
  12. I'm glad he used Twitter--it let me keep up with him and helped us keep current with TORWars.com articles. He wasn't speaking only to our community, but to the gaming community at large, and to gamer magazines and other media who don't read the zillion forum threads here.
  13. We're still hanging in there on Sith Wyrm with The Older Republic. We've added in some extra games, because we've found we really enjoy the people there as much as the game itself. Will we lose some to other games? Yes, undoubtedly. Do we want to stay together in this game, too? Absolutely. Anyone who's 40-ish and older who finds themselves without a guild now is welcome to join us.
  14. The Older Republic (linky to site) formed on the Sith Wyrm PvE server in February, geared for folks (roughly) 40 and older. We grew explosively in the first 2 months or so, and while growing at a much smaller rate now, we ARE still growing. We're also looking at alliances with other smaller like-minded guilds. We did not rush to end content (we're all too busy with Real Life to do that), but we have some dedicated PvPers, some raiders, and some people who just enjoy hopping on Mumble, talking with like-minded folks, and enjoying the game at whatever level they happen to be at. The important thing--none of our members was afraid to re-roll to a new server. Another important thing--no game keeps someone's attention forever. I love LOTRO and Guild Wars, but I'm lucky if I log in once a quarter in either game now. Also, since we're, well, older, many of us come from other MMO communities and guilds. We've elected to keep the community together even in other games by expanding into Guild Wars 2, WoW, and Secret World. That, and continuing recruiting (it's a never-ending task), will help keep the number of players up.
  15. We have The Older Republic (OlderRepublic.enjin.com) and the Older Empire on the PvE East Sith Wyrm server. Check out our website, type in /cjoin Older if you'd like to chat in our Older channel to learn more about us, and join the fun! We all re-rerolled to this server in February/March, but many of us have a lot of toons at all levels.
  16. Hey, you're never too old to game, and you might find it's a great way to break the ice with other co-workers. Some of my patients wouldn't understand my gaming habit. It's a great ice-breaker with my teen patients, however. Come on over to The Older Republic on the Sith Wyrm server if you want to game with a bunch of other older professionals (some not-so-older, and people from all professional/technical walks of life). We're at http://www.OlderRepublic.enjin.com .
  17. Not in the least--just wish the connection problems and time zone issues hadn't been so cruel to you! You're able to connect better on the EU servers, I hope? As we can see in this thread alone, there are a TON of over-40 gamers--lots of room and people to share the gaming love.
  18. We're having fun over at The Older Republic on Sith Wyrm. In fact, we had a 'roly-poly smuggler night' as a fundraiser for our bank tab. This may or may not show up for you on Youtube: If it doesn't load, check here instead, though it may load more slowly for you. RolyPolySmugglerNight Enjoy!
  19. Females don't want to master the game? You haven't read my TORWars.com weekly articles on the Consular class, have you? My regular readers and I all want to be the best in class--male and female alike. I study the theorycrafting sites, I tinker with my gear a lot, I get excited every time I hit a new crit high number, I share info with my readers and they share lots of cool info with me, and we learn a LOT about the Consular class together in order to max out our skill and our gameplay enjoyment. Some of my regular readers are male, some female, all are passionate about the class, and I think they rock.
  20. I'm sure we'd get warnings about male erectile organ emotes, too.
  21. Let's see. I'm into science, history of medicine, being a doctor, love tornadoes, religion, anything French, and chocolate, do history re-enactment, love dogs AND cats, am not afraid of frogs (had a tree frog jump on me once--I only worried about its sticky feet getting stuck in my hair and me hurting it accidentally), enjoy cooking, reading, singing, acting, birdwatching, gardening, writing, raising my kids, music that ranges from medieval motets to symphonic hard metal, will study and plant flowers that attract birds and butterflies to my yard, can drive a stick or an automatic, have a first Dan in Tae Kwon Do (before the knee replacement killed continuing that), wear dresses to church and then can change into a Lacuna Coil t-shirt, love watching baseball and football while my homemade cheesecake is baking (recipe in my blog), AND I game with my dad, hubby, and kids, sometimes all at the same time (TOR, Beatles Rock Band). I'm not gay, unfeminine, or overly feminine, neither ugly nor pretty (although hubby thinks I'm gorgeous and says his opinion is the only one that counts) and I don't need any guy's attention accept hubby's. I don't fit into any of the stereotypical female 'boxes'--gamer, mom, professional, femiinist, conservative, religious, or otherwise. I'm just _me_, and I live the way _I_ want to according to my faith, my ethics, treating people the way I'd like to be treated, my unique interests, the needs and likes of my family, and mainly, to 'suck the marrow out of life', because whether or not you believe in an afterlife, we only have one shot at making a positive impact here in this life in the lives of those around us, and enjoying all the amazing things the universe has to offer, whatever our interests and desires are. When I show up at the pearly gates, I want the good Lord to take a look at me and say "Geez, you really wore yourself out enjoying life and loving the people around you! That's awesome!" If some group happens to think that's anti-liberal, anti-conservative, anti-feminine, anti-feminist, or anti-anything else, that's their problem. I can't and won't try to conform to all those confining boxes. I'll just make my own and be a gamer who happens to have 2 X chromosomes instead of XY. The rest is all commentary.
  22. My dad, kids, sister, and I all played Beatles Rock Band together. It was fantastic. If you want to come on over to the Sith Wyrm server, and to TheOlderRepublic.com guild site, you'll be able to join a bunch of us who are 40 or older (or at least 40 and older at heart) gaming together and having a good time.
  23. I think this plague event is hilarious, I think being Typhoid Mary is hilarious, and I get 5 rakghoul DNA samples that I can use for level 50 crystals every time I go all 'splodey in green goo with zero armor repair bills. Where else are you going to get a crystal at such a cheap price? I'd send a sense of humor to everyone in the thread, but BioWare might call that spamming.
  24. Looks more like male anatomy to me. Ovaries are little oval shaped things, btw.
