  1. You could try attending the Nights of Nar Shaddaa, which is held on the northern barge every Thursday at 9pm Eastern. A variety of guilds is usually there. Perhaps one will be for you. http://swtor-rp.com/ebonhawk/m/3285754/viewthread/3340044-nights-nar-shaddaa-thursday-at-9pm-eastern
  2. SWG space was great. Vastly better than what we have here in SWToR. I had so much fun there.
  3. There were several but the only ones most people seem to check any more are swtor-rp.com .
  4. You were there second. You should either have grouped with him and both had a chance at the loot or waited till it spawned the second time if you wanted it all to yourself. What is your ingame name please?
  5. A set with a headband that overrides the hoodup part of sith inquisitor robes. I have found a headband that does this for my jedi sage (random purple drop) but for the sith there seem only to be helmets/masks that will override the hood, nothing that leaves the face fully visible. More light armour capes like the Ulgo Noble one on Alderaan. Different colours, slight variations in styles. Coats too, such as the Operatives have access to in medium armour. More normal clothing. Some of us play spies, and not only as Agents. So we do not want to have large impressive bulky clothing (and certainly do not want hefty shoulder pads) but more normal attire.
  6. I would probably stop playing the game. I roleplay with other players but when out questing I want to do content at my pace, and that is usually alone as I have to go afk a lot.
  7. Still guilds about. You may want to try coming along to the Nights of Nar Shadda, held every Thursday on the northern barge, Lower Promenade, held every Thursday, starting at 9pm Eastern. A goodly number of guilds are there, some every week, some come intermittently. Interact with folks and see what works for you. http://www.ordoinvicta.com/home/party/nights-nar-shaddaa-weekly-cross-faction-rp-event-thursday-9pm-est-5 You may also be interested in looking here: http://www.ordoinvicta.com/home/star-wars-old-republic-empire-faction We also host an IC datacron hunt held every Tuesday on a different planet. We meet on Imperial Fleet at 9pm Eastern.
  8. RP can work in many different ways in MMOs. All will involve saying things as your character and making custom emotes by using /em but beyond that are many variations. For some, cantina rp is the way to go. Others like to have a GM who comes up with a story, takes you to a planet, describes the situation and you are, eg. a bunch of troopers carrying out an op on the streets of Corellia. (This is the most similar to tabletop scenarios.) Others live the story every moment in-character (barring the Class lines which are duplicated for all of us so are awkward to bring in to rp). Some will rp through some of the Flashpoints, Heroics, quests with others. Of course do check out beforehand that your fellow players are happy with this. I have had a couple of memorable Esseles and Black Talon runs all rped out. RP guilds provide a skeleton on which to hang your story and those that use guildchat as an IC commchannel let you have day-to-day roleplay on that channel while you are away from each other. Similarly there is the /rp channel and a few other created channels which provide an outlet for in-character chatter. In all (excepting the case of a scenario with a GM creating a story), do make sure that you give as well as take. Let others have their moment in the spotlight and don't do emotes that dictate what happens to their characters, rather create open emotes, eg. Shoots at x (not shoots at x and wounds their arm, for example). Likewise don't let others ride roughshod over you. With no GM around, a few folks are inclined to push their way, their story above anyone else's. If a group is roleplaying in public and you are interested in joining in, toss out an emote or two as a potential hook, or if it does seem appropriate for your character to stroll in and join them right away then go for it. Just remember that any IC rudeness from those interrupted is not OOC rejection of yourself as a player . If you want to, send one of the players an OOC whisper beforehand to ask. Most people have a backstory, and it is considered bad form to keep on changing your character as that is highly confusing for everyone. Start an alt if you think of an interesting new concept you want to try out. Longterm rp is easier with a guild but not impossible without. Invicta (my guild) has been around for several years, uniting committed rpers and those new to MMO rp or rp in any form. If you are interested, come along to one of our events. We hold a neutral party on Nar Shaddaa northern barge on the lower promenade every Thursday at 9pm, open to all on the server. And if you have an Imperial character then you can join in on our Tuesday night IC datacron and world boss hunt., a different planet each week, starting from Imperial Fleet at 9pm. As for time commitments, they vary. Here is one example, Invicta: All we ask as a guild is that you stay IC when in /say and use ( ) if you want to be OOC in guildchat, and that you log in at least once every 15 days. Most of us are on every day but the time you wish to commit is entirely up to you. Longterm rp is easier with a guild but not impossible without.
  9. The rp channel is Empire or Republic wide so is not useful for a planetwide only message.
  10. Yes, using General to rp as if in person is both silly and annoying to others. I merely advocate the use of General to simulate a worldwide radio channel, as per the example above of the Bounty Hunter.
  11. If the rp calls for use of a worldwide channel then General chat is the appropriate chat channel to use. Of course General is most often used for OOC chatter so others may express surprise but that is no reason to stifle rp.
  12. Once you have your ship, do check out the Nights of Nar Shaddaa on the northern barge off the Lower Promenade, every Thursday at 9pm Eastern as a way to meet other roleplayers. Personally besides the places mentioned I find rp also at the Nexus cantina in Kaas City, Korriban temple and the Ziost ship on Fleet, each with their own atmosphere. You may want to check out guilds that are not focussed on endgame raids/PvP to allow for more interaction. I know in Invicta we have some avid PvPers and raiders but many of us are very altaholic and focus on the stories first.
  13. How incredibly selfish. Perhaps one day you will develop some empathy for others. I am glad I am in a guild that works to let everyone on our server (Imp side at least) to gain the datacrons.
  14. I always get a bit of lag but since yesterday it is much worse in space.
  15. For roleplayers, and for those willing to put in a little effort to connect with others and interact, rather than needing to be led on through a story by rewards, there has not been another game to rival SWG. Even most of those who did not define themselves as roleplayers on my server created cities, rivalries, wars over bases, tournaments, races, etc. I loved it and was immersed in it for years, having very different stories to yours but equally exciting and fun for me and many others. However, it appears that not enough people wish to play with that amount of freedom and there is the constant cry for more content rather than an outcry for games that allow one to create one's own content. People want to be spoonfed now or so it appears. Grinding for gear takes precedence over having a character that lives in a world where one can sit on a chair or buy any clothes to fit one's mood (does anyone think about how silly it is not to have a certain look till a certain level?) and actually change the landscape around one.
