  1. This is far from what many would call a Star Wars game but i would have to say, they need to expand on the PVP in this game entirely. As is right now there really is no crossing paths with the opposing faction and it is rare to even find PVP unless you Q for it, which gets old after a while even when on a PVP server. This game has a lot it needs to improve and the PVP aspect being one of them severly... But i think in order to do that, that they need to get rid of the instanced planet zones and make the world actually open and explorable because the linear story lines and planet boundries are really cramping the PVP entirely which is not what you would expect from a Star Wars game that is suposed to be in a constant conflict between factions.
  2. This game could be saved as long as they listen to the fan base and give it a major facelift. But as of right now this game will undoubtly fail and collapse soon enough regardless of what BioWare and EA say the cause of all the unsubs were. The only reason this game is failing is becuase of the linear MMO with RPG elements that fall short in every aspect possible not to mention the Star Wars Universe. You can not instance a world and then go and claim its very open to exploration when the only parts that we can explore are that of the boundaries they preset for us. They need to scrap the linear aspect and theme park areas of the entire game and revamp it for Sandbox with a minor cross of theme park. The Star Wars Universe should never be cut and only allowed to be explored as bare minimal as possible, when the idea of the franchise itself was built on a vast universe with endless possibilities and very unique and expansive planets where possiblities were endless. If BioWare and EA ever needed any ideas on how to revamp the game or actually make this game fit the Star Wars name and lay claim to the franchise they could just look back at SWGs and all of what made that game great pre NGE. BioWare can save this game with great potential but it will take some serious work and commitment on their behalf. Otherwise this game will fail rather soon, regardless of how they want to deny and denounce the failing subscriptions and fan base which the only people they have to blame is themselves for a very sub par and barely basic MMORPG.
  3. IMO you cannot go wrong with Sandbox for the Star Wars franchise. If you try and go theme park fully, you come out on a bland game for example what we have with this game. A very bland sub par MMO with little to do and not much to explore. Granted the class specific story lines are decent, but they are very unfinished and very very bland compaired to what they could come out to be. There are dozens of great sandbox MMOs out there that make a killing and have a very wide subscription base. In a franchise such as Star Wars, I honestly feel that to strictly go one way and not have a combination of both for the hard core gamers and regular fan base to enjoy makes it feel ver unfinished. Coming from BioWare to say the least bit, they have set their own standards for this game way too high upon release, and now that it is quite a while down the road they are falling very short on delivering anything but a sub par MMORPG. This game was supposed to be a ground breaking and award winning MMORPG but in many players eyes it is neither. BioWare and EA have fallen short on delivering the basics for any MMO to successfully succeed with this game. The lack of PvP the very low populations on servers, poor economy, poor customization all of ehich should be very standard and emphisized in the Star Wars enviroment. I feel that in order for the Devs and BioWare along with EA to turn this game around, they need to make a major compromise and some major face lifts otherwise the subscriptions and fan base will surely fall off from this game making it F2P in no time simply because they do not wish to give the game the attention and the change it needs to survive and claim the title of Ground Breaking and Award winning. The BioWare and EA name have got them this far, but as alot of people are seeing there is more work to be done for this game to successfully meet the standard requirments any MMORPG should have upon release especially in the Star Wars Universe.
  4. VanorDM If you played SWG pre NGE then you would possibly understand how the player housing affected those who played it. It was a home away from all the madness where you could escape, evnjoy some RP and set up your own construction benches and make your very own income. There were presidents of towns and chairmen, there was an entire government for each set of housing and guild towns. The reason they pushed the NGE without announcement was because people like you cried foul on actually having to work long and hard at the items you wanted and the skills you valued. There were no class restrictions or race restrictions for the most part and you could pick up and use any weapon in the game you see fit. So maby you wanted to be a ranged bounty Hunter along with dabbling in the Melee aspect for close encounter to be a very well rounded player. You could do it, you could craft houses and vehicals along with combat pets and droids to help you out on you adventures. Anything and everything was possible in that game, which ultimately led to the younger fan base crying foul because it wasnt handed to you automatically. People who didnt want to work for their levels and items cried foul and SOE caved. Regardless of all this, all that i am simply saying is that if you believe that this is as good as it can get for a Star Wars game, you are sadly mistaken. Most people who dont agree with how this game is being handled are speaking up because this is to us, a low sub par version of Star Wars. In a franchise that has made more movies, more books, and more lore (even a recognized religon on the census for the government) the possiblities should not be limited by linear game play and very minimal customization. A Star Wars game should have open worlds, very detailed crafting, and a place to call home on planets not just random pit stops and a open starport or small city with the bare minimum spaced out. Again like i have said before this game is by far no where near ground breaking and sadly enough not ver award winning in many peoples eyes, including critics.
  5. Vadnor, Sadly enough kind sir, player housing in SWG before the the NGE they forced upon people the was a very big success and exploited all the great aspects people wanted out of the franchise especially when it was a sandbox mmorpg. Its seems to me you are very blind in the issues surrounding this game. Please point out where in the linear story or on any of the limited planets you "explore" you see any war with the opposing factions in PvP aspect or anything of the such. Simply stated these are not just features I would like to see, if you actually pay attention to the fan base instead of what this half developed game shows you, you would see the lack of diversity this game tries to offer, almost as a horse with blinders on you are content because you dont seem to see the potential this game could go off in expanding the Star Wars universe. Just as that would be your opinion your entitled to it and I respect that. But the dropping fan subscription base no matter what you try and justify it as is an out cry from the fans saying this game is very dissatisfying in many peoples eye and still continues to be a major let down with these broken promises and horrible "updates". Read the forums more and you will see many people are going to continue to leave unless some of the reasonable issues I have stated amongst others are addressed or BioWare and the Devs give a clear cut direction on where this game is headed. But that alone seems to elude you on a whole. And again thank you for expressing you opinions.
  6. I would agree in some aspect of what you have here but the only issues is even if adding this would make a slight effect on the game it still lacks the Star Wars diversity most people anticipated and expect. This game in itself is an ok linear soloists game where exploration is minimal, but to really have the game take the franchise tag Star Wars the linear planets horrible space combat and lack of faction PvP and events need to be implemented with a more diverse customization a real Star Wars game needs. This game in itself is a very sub par MMORPG that lacks anything ground breaking for the Star Wars name period. They really should of spent more time delivering a finished Star Wars product then some run of the mill MMO that lacks just about all the basic stuff that keeps players happy. Housing guild halls more customizing of ships, different ships period along with multi transport vehicals, actual space exploration and such. Would start to be a better direction then the way the game is running into the dirt right now.
  7. As of right now Being a long time fan of the Star Wars franchise, this game plays out as a poorly put together MMO with the franchise tag and atmosphere. I'm not sure if you ever played SWG but housing and guild housing was one of the biggest successes in that game because it added on the feel and atmosphere of the world. People had actually meeting's rallies hunting parties and all forming in their own made cities. Not to mention guild city faction raids and such. To make an authentic Star Wars game you need to give player customizable options and different ways to go about their daily lives. Not just linear worlds and your average run of the mill everyone's the same characters and transportation. Then again maby I'm wrong but in many players eyes, this game has a very poor foundation and many ways to build onto it that could actually make it a real Star Wars game worthy of the name. Everything in this game is based off of the single player KOTOR. All's they really did was add servers and and small open areas to let you feel like your exploring something. When in all reality this game needs more then that. BioWate took this game and claimed it to be ground breaking and award winning. Of course its award winning when you redo almost the same stories as the games before it and just add the multi player options. There may feel like there's alot of grouping for you but being the season MMORPG player I am and gamer I expected some way more vast and diverse then this. BioWare has made too many claims and promises that they have not kept and seem like they will not keep. Granted everything takes time to dev and out into prospect with testing and such but at the rate this game is declining there soon might be that F2P coming sooner then later my friend. For a ground breaking game set in the Star Wars universe, they surely have not come close to even scratching the potential of this game and at the rate they are going and addressing these issues I doubt they ever will.
  8. I agree fully. Especially since in order to unlock them you have to Max out the BH class. Granted they might look cool, 2 mil I'd way over priced for an item that cannot be used to sustain travel and also has a cool down. Not many people are going to care for boots that add just a little extra flair on their chars when vehicles work just as well if not better in allaspects for a fraction of the cost. The dev's need to seriously get together and start looking at all the content they are putting out and upcoming content because it just seems they are taking irrational ways in dealing with this game and pushing the consumers further and further away, as almost to run this game into the ground right from the gate. The sown size in player subs is already speaking up for how they are handling this game so very poorly IMO when alot of it can be an easy fix, these boots just go to show you that your hard earned money can be used else where especially when you're spending alot of time trying to earn it through a very unstable and poor economy. I love this game but to me it seems like they purposely are doing these unthinkable things to drive players away.... Hopefully they figure out the direction they want to go with this game and fast.
  9. In all honesty would you expect anything less as of lately? They are doing a bang up job "no offense" and falling through on simple promises that have been made and reassured again and again, which is starting to show and reflect in their player subs and such. Sadly enough I believe in some way BioWare and EA came out guns blazing thinking they had a hit and people would be undoubtedly happy with the half finished MMO they have released trying to cover the Star Wars franchise. The coined phrase your speaking of is the common lawyer's response you would get from someone who cannot or will not provide any insight on the issue because in their eyes is a waste of time and not a top priority. But again this goes to show you sadly enough that they might have set the bar and standards too high on themselves from the begging.
  10. You correct there would be some to stay but even most die hards and fans are crying foul over this game being a very poorly building MMO at this point in time which you can see by the dramatic downsize in player subs and fans. You can take any well built single player game slap servers to it and add some broken PvP and call it an MMO, but the majority and masses will see through it like they are here and be very upset at a p2p that's struggling to tread water. Most people now want fixes to come faster and promises to be kept because this game in many people's eyes is far from ground breaking and award winning.

  12. This entire game was pretty much built from the was it seems off of the KOTOR and they just simply added a multiply player aspect by have it put on servers so other people can join. I have seen less groups and parties in this game then any other MMO I have ever played, and that's quite a bit. To me along with others this is far from and illogical statement because the only real time you may even need a partner is for heroics, fps etc. That's not really saying much imo as far as questing goes my friend. Not to mention the rare encounters of the other factions while questing even on a PvP server. This game has a wide lack of content and a long way to go if it wants to keep its sub fan base up. Anyone can make a single player game and add servers to call it and MMO and in my opinion you would get much of the effect you have here, a decent sub base at release but heavily declining numbers once the story line is over for your character and the EGC is very sub par.
  13. Well obviously there's busses of people still quitting regardless, so not many people would stay no matter what they promise, because lately they are having issues on keeping them. Not to mention content is severely lack so 2 minor things won't solve all the major they are missing and promised when they said ground breaking and award winning MMORPG.
  14. I am very dissatisfied with this game. This game lacks the majority of content a SW game should have. There is no real sense of being part of the SW lore besides what they have already given us, which to say the least bit is not much. There is a lack of MMO in the entire game with many people just soloing the majority of quests and only grouping when need be. There is no sense of getting to explore the actual SW realm because planets and space are zoned and instanced split. There's very little customizing compared to how the SW galaxy should look and feel. Play housing is non exsistant, guilds are almost pointless when there is no real PvP aspect in the galaxy be it on a PvP or PvE server. Races and classes are missing major content and class specific quests for example, player or NPCs hunting for BHs Smuggling contraband across planets or solar systems. Space comavt which is a must have and a heavy aspect is very unfinished if not just very poorly put together. PvP helms lack cross faction PvP and is most cases no matter why the server type its rare to see the opposite faction. Race and class specifications could be more customizable for an authentic SW feel. That is just a small list this game needs to pull off the actual Star Eats franchise tag and keep people happy as sad as it seems. Also BioWare and EA have no real clear definition on where they plan to take this game or how they would like to play it out especially with the broken patches and promises they are struggling to keep as is. If not corrected this game will be F2P and possibly kick the bucket in no time at all. As seen recently by the massive down size in subscription retention regardless of what they are going to use as the excuse. There is no excuse to exploit a franchise tag such as Star Wars and deliver such a poor concept of it as much of a fan base this game could have if it were done right.
  15. 1. Player housing, giving the people a sense of belonging to the galaxy and planets. 2. Guild communities which incorporate the player housing. To give the guild and the people who reside in it the sense orly loyalty and comraderie that this game seriously needs. 3. Less single player quests and more multiplayer focus. Most of this game can be soloed which build for a very poor MMO which you see with the drastic declining subscriptions. 4. More customization for mounts and ships along with players, give the subscribers the chance to be unique and express themselves better in the game they want this to be. Not everyone in the Star Wars galaxy looked almost identical. 5. Move away for the very linear planet concept. Give players a chance to explore a real planet, not just instances and zoned parts on which you rarely cross paths with opposing factions. The galaxy is at war remember,, but the way this plays outyou would think everything in the universe is done and dandy braids what the quests tell you and the brief opposition you see from enemy NPCs who are the opposite faction. 6. Actual PvP that is better structured in this game, especially for the ones who play on a PvP sever and rarely run into enemies while they "solo" quest the entire game.
  16. Player housing, more open worlds not just zoned like they are so there is actually a sense of being o a planet rather then just one big dungeon or instance part of the planet, the game to feel like an actual Star Wars game, more mounts, more races/classes, Guild halls, open world PvP not just some areas, more ships and customizable options for them, improved space combat, class specific perks and better rewards ( BH getting, bounty contracts on players and NPCs), Jedi doing Jedi things smugglers getting inter planetary mission's to steal and smuggle for the factions for example. Mainly alot of the great and amazing aspects from SWGs that would make this game more fun and able to retain its player base not just kill it off at the rate its going. BioWare and EA to have enough common sense to realize though they are slowly and I mean slowly addressing issues that they won't retain much of a player base because this is nothing at all of what a Star Wars game should play like and atleast give the common people a direction on where they want tis game to go instead of just shooting in the dark and hoping for the best. There should be no race restrictions and minimal class restrictions so it would actually feel like the game is in the Star Wars world because last time I checked the races in Star Wars lore never had a set side of who they belonged to with some exceptions . They freely picked republic or empire
  17. Since when are 5 people able to group? Pretty sure this wasn't WoW or anything like that???
  18. I agree its just a sub par linear MMO in some cases with the Star Wars franchise tag. Very disappointed in BioWare and Ea for this game and the slow slow improvements, if you can even call it that. When this game was coming out I figured it would have everything SWG did right putin into TOR and be done BioWares legendary way they have had so much success with in the past.... But I was mislead along with a million and some other people. If this game doesn't turn around and get the fixes and improvements it needs content wise, F2P will be here before we know it and possibly the entire game shut down...
  19. ?? So its safe to say you would like to see the vendor back?? Anyone think they will get some common sense and bring the vendor back
  20. Well some people like myself and the others would rather save it just in case they decided they would bring te vendor back even for a week or two so the people who farmed and saved the DNA for items might get the chance to use them instead of just trashing all their hard work and grinding time. But at the rate this game is going from what I see, common sense is lacking along with some major content holes to give this game a real Star Wars feel.
  21. I personally think they need to do a major content up haul. Maby add in player housing custom ships and more variety of ships. Or just take all the great aspects from SWG that put the real Star Wars feeling into the MMO and convert it for this game, so that hopefully this game will stop feeling as though its just an ok game with the Franchise tag on it...
  22. I saved all of my DNA in hopes that they might patch the vendor in for a little while. Did anyone else do the same?
  23. So earlier today I was reading articles and reviews of TOR and it seems to be very surprising that out of the 1.7 million subscribers the game originally had upon release 400k of them have jumped shipped. The most common responses I have gotten is that it lacks the true Star Wars feel, and the content people expect is just not there. I am going to post a brief discussion between myself and another player about the game and would like to get some input on what you all think about this. It's a little on the longer side but I believe it has some very valid points... Sadly enough you're losing your players because you have failed to deliver on this MMORPG successfully. Free trials and item give aways will not keep the fan base. You gave a very linear story with the Star Wars franchise tag which is fine, but some serious revamping of the game needs to be done or this game will fall undoubtedly to a free to play and then closure in due time. You have already lost 400k fans and counting because you failed to deliver the ground breaking MMO that was promised. This game deeply saddens many fans of the franchise and many MMORPG players because this game needs improvement in not allthe but a majority of its areas. Sadly enough when my game cards I have bought when I first bought the game expire, I will leave the universe alongside many others unless there are going to be promises of changes. 5 hours ago · Like · Comment Mike Crook likes this. The game had plenty of potential and is very fun, but after a certain point it loses its replay value which again in turn cuts back on marketing and gaining new players. If you haven't realized by now many games that start out like this tend to have a very short life. There will never be a prefect game from release or a finished product, which is understandable. I am simply saying this is not the first Star Wars MMORPG and they can learn alot about what can make it a successful franchise if they take the good aspects from the past ones and implement it into this one. 4 hours ago · Like John Kolb Let me clarify... "They have a great game from release and have only improved it with more new content and fizes than any other MMO that has been released" (More content and fixes in the 5 months that the game has been out in comparison to the amount of content released for other MMO's in the same amount of time from release) 4 hours ago · Like Phill Hardy You're right and I'm not saying it hasn't. But to be fair they also have a very linear game and story line, which makes it a little more easy to do so then the open world MMOs. So really in essence it wouldn't be as fair to compare the content released lately to other games. 3 hours ago · Like John Kolb I've heard this multiple times and I don't get it. I wish someone would explain "linear storyline" to me. There are 8 different stories, one for each class in which you can make decisions which can affect the outcome to some extent. Is there an MMO that's doing this way better and no one told me? And doing it better while having a fun and competitive PvP? IDK, I've played Warhammer and WoW before this. WoW made me want to take a bath with a toaster it was so boring and Warhammer I actually thought was pretty good and SWTOR could really use some ideas from the open world PvP to improve the game but in the end.... I haven't seen anything "linear" about SWTOR. 3 hours ago · Like Phill Hardy Linear is pretty much saying its not as open of world. There's only one set way to go, and yes you can make choices but in the end those choices dont effect your game or anyone else's really. Think double dragons on Nintendo, that was a side scrolling linear game. One set way to go but without options. If they were true to the franchise they could keep the quest all class specific and what they have now but more free roam and more expansive. There are boundaries in the game that make it "one set path" compared to the others that are out there. 2 hours ago · Like John Kolb I don't have enough MMO experience to properly compare to others but as far as the mission/quest grind. I was very happy with how entertaining it was in comparison to WoW and Warhammer. But agian... those are the only 2 other MMO's I've invested ANY time into. 2 hours ago · Like Phill Hardy The grind in the game was very unique and refreshing, but I along with other people think there needs to be more of a open world/sandbox aspect of the game to really explore the world and stay true to the Star Wars franchise. If they were to do that then they could actually provide more for players to look forward to for example, player housing and guild community's, actual space combat and customization of ships not just the one set ship per class, more unique mounts and class specific perks or travel modes. They could've bring back the pet trainer class to the game so you can tame and create your own mounts in the game for more diversity. PvP zones or even PvP worlds with quests to influence how the economy and world security operates. Cybernetics for a real Star Wars feel. Like I was trying to state in the beginning this feels more of a basic MMO with just a Star Wars tag then what you would expect from an actual game set in the Star Wars universe/galaxy, which from that is why most people and myself are a little torn and don't see the reason to stick around if there are the other MMOs doing it better regardless of how long they've been out. I've played WoW, EQ, EQ2, Age Of Conan just to name a few and it feels like all of them not actual Star Wars. I've also played Star Wars Galaxies before the major updates and that by far felt like you were living seeing exploring and playing in the real Star Wars. If they took the good from that and put it into this game, I believe they would have their very own undeniable ground breaking award winning MMORPG that so many are/were looking for and the fan and franchise retention would be 100 fold better then what it is succumbing to as of right now
