  1. There is a lot to do after you reach 50. There are missions on Ilum and Belsavus and flashpoints. You also get to do Operations. Most of the people who complain about the content are the same ones who spacebar through the cutscenes and have probably missed some really good cinematics. To answer your question on earning credits pre-50 (which uses dailies and such)... Try... - Space Missions - Go back to a planet you cleared and look for security chests, elites and champions. You might be surprised at how much easier they are since you have gained a few levels. Loot EVERYTHING, you can sell the gear to vendors. - Flashpoints - Heroics (you might be able to solo some that are lower level). - if you haven't picked a gathering skill, go learn slicing. If you have then make sure you have your map showing resources and gather all that you see and sell it on the GTN.
  2. Check the device manager on your computer. - right-click on My Computer (or Computer) icon and select Properties. Then select Device manager. Look for Yellow exclamation marks or 'unknown' devices. If you haven't installed all the drivers or have out of date drivers, it can cause these types of problems. http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001212.htm
  3. Put him on passive and he will just stand there and watch you...Then if you really need help, you can tell him to start attacking...
  4. I am sure there are players who have figured out how to exploit this bug, but I could be wrong. I have seen this a couple times and was only able to target them by clicking on them. Tab targeting didn't seem to work, but it is buggy in warzones anyways.
  5. You really blame the developers because you can't get a high-end graphics game to run on your bargain-basement laptop?
  6. Search the name of the piece on the gtn... There are usually orange and purple pieces that look the same (only with mod slots). Also, you can ctrl + click to preview how armor will look on you or companion.
  7. As general rules for tough boss fights... - Make sure your armor is at 100% (doesn't need repair). - Use the highest level stim (and carry a few extra) for your main stat to give your toon a little extra boost. - Make sure you have the best medpacks available for your level - Unless your companion is the healer, send them in first and wait a second so they get aggro. - If you have a 'cleanse' and the boss puts dots/stacks on you or companion, make sure you use it. - use the interrupt if you have one. - If there are weaker adds (npc's that help the boss), kill them first. If you die, they don't respawn immediately and the boss won't have their help for rounds 2 or 3 (usually you should repair after 3 or 4 wipes). - If you have a CC, use it. You might need to disable your companions AoE to keep them from breaking the CC though. Make sure the npc (or boss) you use it on doesn't have the boss immunity to cc (stun).
  8. I don't mind not being able to heal them with my gunslinger, but at least they could not ask for heals when their health gets low...I would if I could...just saying.
  9. Since most people who play with friends or guildmates simply vote for each other. The whole voting is kinda ridiculous, especially for ranked. Look at some of the screenshots people have posted of ranked and you will most likely see everyone on both sides has 1 vote... I usually vote for the newest (least geared) 50....I figure, the faster they can get better gear, the faster our faction will improve.
  10. Acutally I think the interface has them disabled. Change to default interface and see if this resolves the problem. I don't know if there is a function to reset the default if you have modified it. Otherwise you can open the interface editor and check the options for both the experience bar and tooltips (located above or on the minimap)...You have to select each item to see what it is, then ensure the "Enabled" checkbox is checked (if it has one, some can't be disabled).
  11. They are in the Crew skills area of the fleet and on some planets and space stations. Enable them in your map and they will appear as a small blaster icon on both the Main map and mini-map.
  12. I recommend you get a mouse with multiple thumb keys (6 to 12). You can map these to the attacks and use them instead of trying to hit the numbers. I use a Razor with 1-12 keys on the side. My thumb rest naturally for keys 1-6 and I can use the Shift and Control keys to modify the attack. I set keys 7 -12 for actions not used in combat (i.e., mount speeder, auto-run, out-of-combat heal, etc...)
  13. Are you completing the bonus portions of side missions? Usually you get them by killing X number of NPC by the time you reach the objective, but sometimes you have to go out of the way to finish it. This is a bonus for a reason and the bonus's are increased exp and gear/credits.
  14. I did something similar to see what playing on an RP server would be like. I am leveling an Operative healer so I picked Slicing. Bioanalysis and Biochem. The Slicing and Bio analysis allow me to gather two different resources. The biochem allows me too craft my own medpacks, I just have to buy the mission mats off the gtn. Since I have slicing, the cost isn't too bad. The medpacks I can craft give more health than what is available from vendors at my level and the reusable medpacks are awesome.
  15. On your lower level toon, pick slicing as a gathering skill and enable resources on your map. Try going back to a planet he is good enough to beat the NPC's . The higher level the planet, the better. Start killing mobs and look for Security Chests to open. Look for Elites and such tucked away in corners to kill for the loot. You can also try to 1-man lower level flashpoints. Assuming your screwup is at least 45...Teral V story-mode is level 36 (if I recall correctly) and you should be able to cruise through the mobs easily. You can get a lot of loot to sell and a decent amount of credits.
  16. The difference is with 50-lvl PvP gear having Expertise. This is not an issue in Lvl 1-49 PvP. Once you reach 50 you get a set of Recruit Gear for free. If you plan to PvP you want to use it.
  17. I have had similar happen, I usually try hitting the ESC key a few times to see if the menu pops up...Hit it once more to cancel and keep playing.
  18. Tactics depend on your characters skills, abilities and companion at lower levels. Make sure your Abilities are up-to-date. Open the Abilities panel and check that none say See Trainer, there are separate tabs for Base Class (i.e., Smuggler) and Advanced Class (i.e., Scoundrel). Ensure all skill points are used. Try not to engage more than one mob at a time. Check for 'roaming' NPC's so they don't surprise you. Have your companion attack first (unless they are healing). This will cause the npc's to target your companion first. You can revive them after the fight if they die. Also, companions have Stances which determines how they act in a fight (Offensive, Defensive, healing, etc...) Look at the Companion tab on the Abilities panel.
  19. Slicing can replace almost any gathering skill but you will have to buy the mats or get them some other way. If you are in a guild, you can ask others to get the mats for you.
  20. You don't have to limit the gear to your class unless it specifies a class. You may need to change the mods to the stats you use but you aren't limited to only the armor that was designed for your class.
  21. You can also ask for help or groups in General, just ignore the jerks and hope you get a decent response. IMO, a list of indications that a player is in a good guild or a bad guild... - Good: They wait for you and don't move too far ahead - Bad: They alwasy run ahead and you have to use your map to figure which way they went at intersections? - Good: They heal themselves after a fight. - Bad: They expect the healer to always heal them (I usually play a healer so I am biased) - Good: They revive others before looting? (assuming they realize they were killed) - Bad: They loot and only revive you if no one else is available to do it (note that characters without a healing class have a longer cooldown). - Good: They greed or pass(better) loot they can't use. A Knight can't use the blaster pistol that says Requires: Smuggler on it and the Smuggler can't use the lightsaber. IMO they should ask if it is okay to need if their companions need it and only roll if the item is not for anothers main spec. - Bad: They need everything. (Note: greeding everything is not really bad, because Need always beats greed). These are referred to as Ninja's and will eventually find they are not welcome in groups. Anyone who can add or thinks differently here, please share your opinion. List your Server and Faction.....a lot of times people will respond here with offers to help you out or join their guild.
  22. The biggest mistake most new players make is with the gear. First, if your character should be wearing Heavy armor, then your gear should be Heavy, same goes for medium. Although 1 or 2 pieces won't make a large difference, they do reduce your armor. It is common to simply replace gear simply because the stats are green and this is a mistake. Look at your abilities to see the highest armor proficiency (heavy > medium > light) Second are the stats. You need to know what is your main stat. For example, smugglers main stat is cunning and troopers main stat is Aim. This should be the highest stat (other than endurance, that is pretty much everyones secondary stat) when you look at the character screen. If you have completely geared yourself incorrectly, then it might not be easy to determine in which case you can hover over the the damage and tech stats to see what is most prevalent. The easiest thing is to look for a guide on your class online. The same thing goes for companions. They all have a main stat and armor rating as well. See companion tab in abilities for armor and in character screen for main stat or look online.
  23. Check your mission log and/or look in the Mission Items tab of your inventory. He usually tells you to take it to a forge or something to 'build' it. You will get two mods when this is done to put into it. You need to complete this mission before you can equip the lightsaber and it will be in the Mission items portion until you do.
  24. It really sounds like you are clicking on the target to attack (Like in Diablo 3). This is not how SWTOR works. You click an enemy to target it and then select the attacks to use on the keyboard (by default). The first quickbar already has 1 through = mapped, but you need to map the other quickbars in the preferences. These can be mapped to mouse buttons or key combo's. I don't advise changing the left and right mouse button functionality. If you have a mouse with 4 or 5 buttons, then map buttons 3+ to your liking (See Key bindings in the preferences). By default, clicking the left mouse button is used for targetting and held to control the camera. The right mouse button will control the movement direction of your character and both buttons together move you forward. Most people use a combination of the mouse and wasd keys to move their character. A typical encounter with a mob consists of targeting one, then pressing the key for the attack or ability you want to use. You should have key 'rotations' that cycle through these as you fight. As you level up, you get more abilities and more attacks.
