  1. The biggest mistake new players make is with gear, weapons, and stats. First, use the correct armor. If your player can use Heavy, then that it was you want. If Medium, then don't wear Light. You can see your armor "Proficiency" in your Abilities Panel under General. Next, you don't want to use gear that is not the correct main stat. Instead of explaining how the determine your main stat (because there are already a lot of posts for that), I will just list them here. EMPIRE Bounty Hunter (Mercenary/Powertech): Aim Imperial Agent (Operative/Sniper): Cunning Sith Inquisitor (Assassin/Sorcerer): Willpower Sith Warrior (Juggernaut/Marauder): Strength REPUBLIC Jedi Consular (Sage/Shadow): Willpower Jedi Knight (Guardian/Sentinel): Strength Smuggler (Gunslinger/Scoundrel): Cunning Trooper (Commando/Vanguard): Aim
  2. You can flirt with them both, but there are consequences if you try to romance two companions at once. None of ships are that big and if you keep it up, there will be a confrontation between the three of you. (I am speaking from experience. My soundrel had a rather un-pleasant, but humorous, encounter one day with Risha and Akaavi) Too much like real life
  3. You can't re all items, just the same types that you can craft (i.e., armstech re's blasters, artifice re's lightsabers, etc...). Not all items can be re'd for schematics. If it is of the type for your crafting profession, then this is clearly seen if the tool-tip in red letters if that is the case.
  4. It should also be mentioned that if a DPS or Healer is pulling aggro from you, that you should put that player on "Guard". This reduces the amount of threat that player generates by 25%.
  5. It sounds like you are trying to learn the schematic. Are you sure the error message isn't "You don't have the synthweaving talent"? This means your Synthweaving is not up to the minimum required skill level to learn the schematic.
  6. Maybe you aren't close enough to it? About the same as a Chest or terminal. Even if you already have it, it will do the beginning animation. If not, then take a screenshot and open a ticket.
  7. Just before you reach the Emperor, there is a puzzle in center of the temple that will give you gear for T7 for this fight.
  8. You can right click the portrait box and Dismiss Companion then resummon them. Or have them sell trash items and they will return in 60 seconds.
  9. You have two options when getting ganked by a much higher level player. 1. Announce it in General chat 2. Ask (in General) for anyone who might be going to fleet to announce it on fleet in general and hope there are players who are close enough (or higher) in level and willing to provide some payback.
  10. If you have the credits, they will sell you anything. But if you mean it is grayed out, then it might be you are too low level. Most gear has a minimum level requirement in addition to the ability requirement. You get a light saber at the end of Tython and then more gear depending on the advanced class you select.
  11. When you are really over-leveled, you gain less experience. It will eventually even out. I would say drop side quests over skipping class quests. Using inferior armor might make it more challenging, but I wouldn't go that route. You should be able to use the mods for awhile and swap them out as you level up. If you get the planet comm's for quest rewards, you can buy them without using credits.
  12. I always use a mouse with buttons on the side and set those to target next and target closest. Then I can target using my thumb. Are you sure you weren't hitting the R key by mistake (even partially)? This is hot-keyed to reply in the chat window. I changed that binding really quick because it is too easy to hit R by mistake.
  13. You can set the UI scale on each target window individually and don't need to increase the main ui scale. For targetting, there are individual windows/UI Components for... - Player (self) - Target - Companion - Target of Target - Focus Target If you enable the Focus target and target of target, you can set your self as focus target, then target yourself and your character will appear in all four target windows
  14. Maybe I mis-understand the rule "Vanish-Sap-Recouperating ". Are you saying we can't Vanish/Disapper, or sap ot heal? Or are you saying we can't use that specific combination? - Disallowing Vanish for Scoundrel/Operative is like disallowing Force Leap/Force Charge for Knights/Marauders. This hardly seems fair unless you restrict those classes from force leap as well. - Do we assume force camouflage is considered a 'Vanish'? Some clarification, please. I would also like to know the rules on gear. Are contestants allowed to change gear at any time? This would allow players to 'sandbag' with less than optimal gear and seconds before their fight switch that gear.
  15. The funniest guild name I have seen (on The Fatman prior to moving to PofF) was (may not be 100% accurrate...) Two droids, one oilcan
  16. And realize that no matter what class you play, all other classes will be overpowered and should be nerf'ed.
  17. If changing the graphics settings don't change the performance, then it isn't the graphics. Look at any site that builds or tests computers for gaming and notice they don't JUST use fast cpu's and a fast graphics card. They also put in high performance hard-drives, network card and memory. Memory and hard-drives both have throughput speeds meaning how fast they transfer the bits. Most performance issues are due to all the processes people have running in the background. All those apps and chat programs take up resources, not to mention any adware or malware that was picked up. It could be - poor network connection, either your router, cable modem or isp - cpu's (processors) speed insufficient - hard drive has insufficient space, is old in age or low quality - memory (as in ram, both type and amount) - other processes running (adware, malware, 20 different chat utilities, facebook, etc...)
  18. This is what works for me with the Naga. I really only use the buttons 1 - 6 because of how I hold the mouse. My thumb rests over the 1 and 2 buttons on the mouse. First, set it to use the numpad alt keys (1 = end, 2 = down arrow, 3=PageDown, etc...). In key bindings, I set "Target Next Enemy" (click the key binding, then click the mouse button) to the End (1 on the mouse) and "Target Closest Enemy" to Down Arrow (2 on the mouse). No more having the click to target. Now I can use the 1/End button to cycle though the enemies until the one I want is targeted.
  19. Your first companion is a Tank, Corso Riggs. His main stat is Aim and he should have Heavy gear. Your main stat is Cunning and you should have medium gear. Do not use light gear or gear without main stat. Since Corso is a tank, you want him to draw as much aggro as possible which means have him attack first (Ctrl-1 is the default key binding for your companions quickbar). You should also ensure his stance is setup to draw more threat. You can do this in the Abilities dialog (P) on the companion tab (he must be out). Right click the ability to highlight the small box in the bottom center. You should be cc'ing (stunning) any enemies before sending him in to attack. Stealth in and tranq dart 1 of them. Also use flashbang if a lot are firing on him. As a healer, you will need to ensure his health stays up so keep an eye on his health bar.
  20. I have had it happen that the exit door isn't enabled. I found that when it happens, I can click on the holo terminal in my ship which seems to reset it and allows me to exit.
  21. You can either drop slicing and pick up scavenging. Or you can buy the scavenging mats off the gtn (since slicing gives you credits). Or you can roll another character, get them up to fleet (approximately level 10) and have them learn scavenging. Then simply use them to run scavenging missions to get the mats. Don't forget that you can Reverse Engineer dropped loot for mats as well (anything you can craft, you can usually re for mats, but not always).
  22. What server are you on? Guilds: You see them in General occasionally, advertising for new members. You can also ask on General if any are recruiting. Don't be afraid to join a guild, it doesn't cost you anything. Tanking: If you are levelling with your companion, don't worry so much about drawing and holding aggro, that is more for Flashpoints and Operations where you have other player roles (healer, dps, dps). Levelling: Most 'mobs' consist of a strong and 2 or 3 standard/weak npc's (npc = non-player character). Target/kill the weaker ones first. Try not to pull more than one mob at a time. Make sure you have the right gear (heavy with strength mods). Same goes for your companion (check their main stat for what they need). Crew Skills: Visit your crew skill trainer to learn new schematics. More will come available as your crafting skill increases. Most of the stuff you create is 'green'. You reverse engineer greens to get blue schematics (takes between 1 and 20 re's on average. The math wiz's at bw think this means 20%). You reverse engineer blues to get purples. You send your companions on missions to either increase your mission/gathering skill or to try to get necessary materials for something you want to build. If you try to balance crew skills with crafting, you probably won't be able to make better items until you get closer to level 30. Don't try to make everything, just pick what you think you will need and work on that. For example, start crafting the Might hilts and re-ing them to build up your crafting skills. Note that you can also re some loot for mats.
  23. Its in the patch notes... http://www.swtor.com/patchnotes/1.5.0/hk-51-activated UI ... Different quickslot bars can no longer be jumped to in the primary quickslot bar if they are already visible in another location on-screen.
  24. Heroic moment also heals your companion for a small amount. It might be helpful to know what is your class and which companion. Classes that can't heal are either pure dps or can spec into tanking. If you are using a class that can tank, you should have a taunt even if you are dps spec. Use this to pull npc's off your companion if you can withstand their damage. Try to CC (crowd control) anything attacking your companion. Look at your companion abilities and try changing their stance to one that reduces damage taken (but will also reduce the amount of damage they do)...This depends again on your class and abilities.
