  1. I'm more saddened they bumped off Acina with nothing more than a background NPC comment... --edit-- Ah, my error, I haven't run both options yet--
  2. The big problem, as already pointed out by others, is the potential for abuse - but then, any system is subject to abuse, and the completely unmoderated state of chat is already in a sad state of abuse. For my part, I'd be happy if the same rules about language and attitude were imposed on chat as they were in my workplace, where for over thirty years, excessive profanity (and it was a pretty narrow range), insults (let alone aggressive sexism/racism/etc.!), and harsh behavior in general were sufficient for suspension and dismissal - usually with a warning, but very dependent upon particulars of the incident. In my opinion, there is really no excuse for that kind of thing, not here, not in-game, not in public at all. But I know moderation will never happen because BW/EA is in business to make money and they're happy to take money from immature and wicked people (they'll even take my money:rolleyes:). So I'll just deal with it.
  3. Thank you. While I'm not of quite and exactly same mind (I spend a lot more time playing), in general, I agree heartily with just about everything said.
  4. My thanks to the ones who made the change. For me, not only did Hot Prospect sound like something you would call a dedicated ERP server, it also just felt so much less dignified than any of the other server names.
  5. Seriously, "Hot Prospect" evokes nothing but a dedicated ERP server. What an incredibly stupid, insulting joke.
  6. I rarely post here, and try not to be negative when I do, but I'm heading toward the same camp as the OP. It's been a while since any updates or changes sounded attractive to me, it's all been nerfing this and that (hitting my characters hard), wackadoo story moments (the traitor condemns my Light V nonEmperor Jedi in name of peace?? even if it's a lie/coverup, at least make it something that doesn't make him sound like he suddenly took up heavy crack smoking!), what looks to be a system that makes it harder to do much of anything. I'm no endgame junkie, but it's nice to be able to participate - now, instead of adding more *fun* to the game, they're hell-bent on taking the fun *out* of the game.
  7. Just noticed this nice little sword carried by a Darvannis base guard. If it isn't available in game (I've never seen the like before), any chance on making it available? http://imgur.com/a/5p4kT
  8. Rishi would be wonderful, but if they were really going to develop the piratey theme with decorations, they probably would have done that long ago. Yes, there's a few - cannons and such - but so much untapped potential. Manaan sounds nice, but as someone already pointed out, it would have been little more than a metallic structure with some portholes and a small patio, like Manaan is already. That said, the tease "great view of the ocean" is all but a giveaway for Manaan. And there's the underwater sequences they included in the HK55 mission "Shroud of Memory," which might have been a 'proof of concept' test for something interesting in a Manaan SH. The most beautiful beaches in SWTOR are on Rakata Prime, in the FP. I occasionally go there just to enjoy the scenery, so a tropical beach resort SH would be the cat's pajamas. Theoretically, an ocean view could also be found on Alderaan, which I wouldn't mind, but not sure they would develop a new SH there after all this time.
  9. I turned off my language filter shortly after release when it censored the word sharpshooters - which was the character class I was playing at the time! I don't know if it still filters that word, but any language filter that censors terms used with in the game itself is just so pathetic. (in case you're wondering, I can only figure it's because of sharpsHOOTERS... oy vey!)
  10. Vaylin: "Well if it isn't father's favorite meat puppet?" I don't know why, but I laugh at that one every time I hear it. And it's not a spoken line in the game, but there's an NPC (as I recall, one of the sky fortress shield guardians) actually has a channeled attack called "Spray and Pray." I also get a tickle out of the nameplate label on some of the NPCs in the Ziost tower: <Non-Essential Personnel> It would be an awesome guild name!
  11. I have the same issue on the same mount.
  12. /signed I didn't get to 100% but the idea of gratuitously wiping out achievements of any kind, without warning, is just jaw-dropping. The only thing I can imagine this act accomplishing is to remove motivation for participating in any potential future DvL event. Not to mention any new events of any kind that come down the pike, are those achievements also going to be wiped out without warning? Achievements cost nothing, it's not like anyone is asking for any unearned rewards, just the acknowledgement of effort. That's all achievements do anyway.
  13. Yes. Yes it is. I had to admit that just in case some dev takes it seriously. Sometimes I really wonder what gets into their heads.
  14. No, no, no, credits caps are a horrible idea. Instead, put a *timer* on all credits - f2p credits vanish in 10 minutes, preferred in 30, subs in one hour. That way the free flow of cash is maintained and nobody can stockpile for inflated prices. Oh, and limit cargo space to ten slots with no stacking. Done and done. I'll expect appropriate compensation from Bioware for solving all their in-game market problems.
  15. Rakata Prime: tropical beachfront? Yes please very much with space cherries on top. 2nd choice: Rishi Pirate Haven. Lots of water features (beaches, waterfalls, rapids) with a semi-tropical feel. I'd be willing to shell out some major credits (and maybe even CCs!) for a number of piratey decorations beyond an occasional cannon. Manaan would be cool *if* you could really feel (i.e., see and maybe even move into) like you were under water instead of in just a big indoor thing like a space station or apartment.
  16. My favorite Republic story: Consular, hands down. I will say that Trooper is everything it ought to be IMO, just a matter of my personal taste. Smuggler was fun, my second favorite. Knight actually grabbed me the least. Not sure why.
  17. Yep, lagspiked and booted a couple times in quick succession from Ebon Hawk. (I'm not strong believer in capital punishment, but, hackers might fit the bill. Trolls should merely have their fingers broken and reset badly, but hackers, well, too bad so sad...)
  18. Similar problems, lots of d/c and lag spikes. Apparently, Blizzard suffered/is suffering a DDoS attack; could it be affecting SWTOR as well?
  19. In a large population, there's a very strong tendency toward the mean; for example in USA presidential elections, a 55% win is considered a landslide. So I expect the DvL bar won't ever move by more than a few percentage points. And, given my rather jaundiced view of people's tendencies (for a couple reasons, not worth detailing here), I expect dark will win handily, despite any appeal of the Chiss companion. I also expect that, due to the pressures and limitations of maintaining appeal for the game in general, there really won't be much effect on gameplay no matter the outcome. Frankly, if I wasn't already something of an altoholic, and didn't enjoy the stories as much as I do, I wouldn't bother running this event at all (especially if they never unbind the rewards...).
  20. None of the problems or complaints I have ever had about the game come close to the gratuitous and pervasive rudeness and vileness that has come from the players. Endless whining, lying, backstabbing and insults when it gains them nothing to do so.
  21. QFT pretty much covers it. My private reaction to most genchat is either "get a room!" or "just shut up already!"
  22. /signed At least make it an option. There was and is always the spacebar for the impatient ones. There are some that I actually miss seeing at least once in a while.
