  1. I'm up to level 23, about to do Nar Shaddaa, and I really like it so far. I don't find the story boring at all. Plus, the abilities this class has are great, IMHO. My Consular is a Sage and he's really powerful. I haven't found many enemies that can defeat me and I go up against Elites whenever I can.
  2. OK, never mind on the whole thing. Clearly, nobody cares. Besides, I stopped playing the Guardian anyway.
  3. Don't presume to tell me how to play. If I want to be "social," I will. If not, that's my prerogative. Besides, you fail to see the obvious flaw. Other classes have appropriate gear handed to them on the origin planets. So, when you leave, you're already geared up for your next planet. However, to wear heavy armor on Coruscant, Guardians have to either play extra missions or hope the Market has some good stuff. That's FUBAR.
  4. I was getting a bunch of affection with her as a lower level Guardian the other day, but who knows? It could be a random bug or I just haven't gotten to the point where you stop gaining affection with her.
  5. Thanks for the tip. Though, I'm not really much of a "play with others" type. I basically have this game for the story and because I love the first two games and I love RPGs. I prefer single player RPGs but hardly anyone makes those anymore. Besides, the last time I did anything where I was in a group, I wound up being cussed out over the chat channel by some childish loser who didn't like the fact that I go a gear drop that he/she wanted. So, I decided I don't need that kind of aggravation on a game that I'm paying a monthly fee to play. I mostly just play PVE and mind my own business. Also, I'm past all of this with my current Guardian. I have the customizable heavy robes that you get for completing the Gree missions. I was just basically just trying to get an answer from BioWare on why this class doesn't get any good armor until around level 15 or so, but I doubt I'll actually get an answer from them.
  6. The "lightsaber won't shut down" bug is also back. Before I stopped playing this game a few months ago (due to financial reasons) I was leveling a Knight and that bug wasn't there. However, one of the wonderful patches since then has brought it back. Honestly, the bugs with Kira have killed this class for me. As a woman, you can probably pretty much ignore her. However, as a guy, she's your only romance option. So, unless you don't like doing the romance side stories, you're stuck having to take her places to get her affection up (if that even works) and the bugs make her not enjoyable as a companion, IMHO. That's part of the story. You won't be able to speak to her until after Nar Shaddaa. There's an "intermediary" mission that happens between Nar Shaddaa and Tattoine that relates to her. After that, she should start talking to you again.
  7. I know that. (I've played every class in this game, at least a little) However, when you hit level 10 and leave Tython, you're stuck with medium gear if you select Guardian. All I'm saying is that they could add a heavy chest piece with +strength and +endurance to the Tython Commendations vendors. Without a second weapon to level things out, Guardians are at a disadvantage wearing medium armor and (as I already covered) it's hard to pick any up that's any good once you hit Coruscant. You have to "find" some or wait for the missions to give it to you.
  8. I like the Jedi Knight story and I like playing as a Jedi Guardian because you can equip heavy armor and shields. However, why can't we buy heavy armor with Tython commendations? I saved all of my commendations because I've been playing this game since February and I know there are commendation vendors on the Fleet stations, so I wanted to see if I could trade them in for heavy armor once I got my advanced class (Guardian.) The answer: no. Why is this? You can buy light armor for Counselors and medium armor for Smugglers (which makes no sense) but only medium armor for Knights. I managed to buy some class appropriate heavy gloves and a heavy belt on the GTN and some boots from a Specialty Item vendor on Coruscant, but the only heavy chest pieces and pants I could get were "standard" pieces with no strength and endurance boosts. So, I'm stuck with medium gear that I picked up on Tython until much later on Coruscant, where I'll finally get some heavy gear as mission rewards (I'm currently level 13 or 14 and I still have medium gear.) Pus, even the gear you get on Tython is called Sentinel gear. "Sentinel Leggings," "Sentinel's Waistcord," etc. If we can get Sentinel gear as mission rewards, why can't we get Guardian gear? This certainly doesn't happen to Troopers or Bounty Hunters, both of whom wear heavy armor (though, it probably happens to Sith Warriors.)
  9. You answered your own question. You get everything that's listed as a "restriction" on the Free to Play option. (plus "free" cartel coins) Basically, if you keep subscribing, the game won't change. If you go free, it will.
  10. I'm not going to bother asking any questions because we're clearly not getting answers. However, it would be nice if the video had cleared up a few issues. (or if a BioWare employee would actually get on here and answer some stuff) It says "free" players get a choice of 3 races. However, those of us who have bought the game aren't really free players, so we shouldn't be restricted by this if we stop paying. I bought this game back in February for $49.99 ($10 off of the original price) and I've paid for several months of subscriptions. I'll by no means be a "free" player if I stop subscribing because I've certainly paid my dues in this game (got my "Founder" title and everything.) I currently have Chiss and Rattataki characters, I shouldn't have to give up anything during the transition because those races came with the game that I bought. The same goes for other things that "free" players won't get (because they haven't paid for anything.) Obviously, people who stop paying shouldn't get everything subscribers get, but they also shouldn't be treated like they've paid for nothing. There needs to be a middle ground. IF somebody from BioWare would actually come on here and acknowledge such concerns, it would be nice. If I'm going to lose all my stuff, I can probably keep my 3-month recurring subscription, but I also think it's unfair to treat people who stop paying as if they're just like people who have never paid anything for the game. Some games do this, others have a "middle ground" for people who have paid real money for the game. (DC Universe Online has a setup like this) So, instead of just telling us what free and paid players get, also tell us what paid players who (may) decide to go free will get! Geez, I hate the suspense. I've been there for a few F2P transitions now and it's always a headache trying to figure out these things.
  11. I'm bringing this topic back up because this is really annoying. I was having this issue, so I set "Auto Target Closest Enemy" in my preferences. No change. Sometimes it targets the closest enemy, sometimes it targets one far away, sometimes it targets my companion, sometimes it targets nothing. I've played partially through the Bounty Hunter, Trooper, Smuggler, Jedi Consular and Jedi Knight story lines. My current character is a Jedi Knight. As a character with ranged abilities, it's not that big a deal. You can use most ranged abilities up to 30 meters. However, when playing as a Knight, who has few abilities with a range over 4 meters, it's maddening. When I'm fighting four enemies and two are melee enemies and I kill one, the next one targeted should be the other melee enemy. However, this doesn't happen a lot of the time. Instead of targeting the enemy that's a meter or less away from me, it targets the one 6 meters away, out of range of most of my character's abilities. WHY?! Is it really that difficult to figure out that 1 meter is closer than 6 meters? A couple times earlier, it even targeted enemies that weren't even involved in the battle. Of course, my ultimate favorite is when I'm surrounded by enemies and I kill one and "Target is Dead" or "No Target" flashes on the screen because it either stayed on the dead target or didn't target anything. And, of course, I hate it when it targets my companion. I'm not usually one to complain about this game (or any other game) but this is bad. It needs to be fixed. I've been waiting for a patch to fix this, but so far none of them have.
  12. It's pretty much the same reason Superman sucks in pretty much every game appearance: you're "too powerful." Still, it would be nice if the blaster bold deflection worked a little better in this game. It does in other games, including the 1st and 2nd KOTOR games. Though, to be honest, the lightsabers are actually one of the least annoying things about Jedi/Sith in this game for me. I really can't stand they way they've borked them, so I usually play as blaster-wielding characters. Though, when you think about it, even Stormtroopers in armor went down with one shot in the movies, there was no repeatedly firing a blaster at one character to take them down. But, it's a game. That's how they are.
  13. Actually, it's 6-8 GMT, not 6-9. Still, the timing of this down time does seem a bit odd. I hope the patch is worth it.
  14. "Free" in this case doesn't refer to price, drinks or speech. It refers to freedom. It's part of the open source definition. Closed source software, whether it's released as paid software or as freeware, comes with a lengthy EULA (End User License Agreement.) That's the verbose piece of literature that most of us just click "I Agree" on without reading it so that we can install the software. The EULA is essentially a document describing what you can and can't do with the software. By clicking "I Agree," you're entering into a legal, binding agreement to not do stuff you're not supposed to with the software. Open source software has no such restrictions. It's released under the GNU Public License, which is a very unrestricted license. You can literally do anything you want with open source software. You can hack it, mod it, rebadge it, redistribute it, sell it. You can even use the source code for software released under the GNU Public License to make your own closed source software. The possibilities are literally endless. Some people don't like to abide by an EULA and prefer to use only open source software. Though, I still don't see the point of coming to the forums of a closed source game with an EULA and complaining about a lack of freedom. It's highly hypocritical. You knew what you were getting into when you bought the software.
  15. Yeah, I hear you. There are a few proprietary games (but not a lot) for Linux. It's a great OS, but definitely not one for hardcore gaming. I do like some of those indie games, though. Some of them are real gems. Yeah, I don't get it either. Those people get on my nerves too.
