  1. ^ Fine. Thank you for your prompt efforts to resolve the initial issue. The item was restored, Unfortunately it is not entirely functional. It still functions as a level scaling armor insert as far as I can see, but it is not counting toward the 7 piece xp set bonus. The armor shell it is in has no indication on the tooltip that it is part of the set, and other equipped items in the set read as 6/7 with the 'Victorious Pioneer Chestpiece' missing. I understand it isnt game breaking to miss that last 10%, but I would enjoy a fully operational set more than a 6/7th set.
  2. I just logged into a character and noticed it was not wearing a chest piece. I had a Cartel Market chest piece with the Victorious T̶r̶a̶i̶l̶b̶l̶a̶z̶e̶r̶ Pioneer Armor inserted into it, and now it is gone, so I can only enjoy 6/7 of the set piece XP bonus. The same chest piece was used to stamp am outfit slot, it is missing from there as well, which suggests that it is a bug and not me misplacing it. To that end, I have checked my inventory, cargo hold, legacy cargo hold, companion equipment slots, and vendor buy back tabs. (not that I could have sold a cartel market shell to a vendor). I also for good measure checked the inventories and cargo holds of alternate characters. This item has certifiably, 100% disappeared. May I please have it returned to me? I have also submitted a ticket.
  3. Please dont put Overload in a rotation, we have enough problems with people not knowing how to manage the classic mmo skill formula, we dont need people disrupting aoe every 15 seconds with knockback. This will make grouping even more annoying. I would rather see this skill removed entirely than see it placed in a rotation.
  4. I feel like anyone complaining about something that has not even happened yet should go play guildwars if they cant handle the classic mmo format, or blow the dust off their Atari. Of all the classes, all the specs, none of them have too many skills, with a portion of them situational or on over 2 minute cooldowns, anyway. Please dont distill this game down to cater to the lowest common denominator, we have another mmo for those people, and there are cute little panda bears in it for them too.
  5. Hey, I am back from almost 2 years away, still loving my Lightning sorc. Still having problems catching all the aggro, not having problems mitigating it, controlling the action, carrying the random pugs. I see a lot of players, most of the players in fact, using healing companions in open world regardless of their spec. (watching a sniper use a healer is truly sad.) Still seeing people executing sub-optimal rotaions, still seeing videos of people claiming to be pro while clicking their skills. - I'm fine with all that. - The truth is that the game makes no effort to actually teach people how to play. MMO gaming is trending toward simplification, gamers point to games like SWTOR and complain about 'skill bloat'. I wonder how much of this lamentation is due to the skill ceiling. - I wonder how many of these gamers complaining about their crappy sorcs use proper keybinds, or gaming peripherals. I cant imagine how I would play this game with anything less than a full numberpad mouse. I have around 30 combat binds, and can activate any of them instantly. - Maybe this is why I dont feel like Sorc dps is 'gimped'.
  6. noon on a Tuesday, 700 people in que in front of me. I call BS.
  7. As long as people continue to shower the perpetrators of ddos attacks with the attention they crave, praise or hatred, they will continue.
  8. Yea, I can see where you would have fun playing as an experienced pilot, but for someone who is trying to learn the game, these "vets" and "pros" and "aces" make the entry to GSF impossible, and the antithesis of fun. It isnt fun spending most of the game in a respawn, sitting at the bottom of the scoreboard in every category, and being the reason your team loses. I am beyond asking for help now, because when I do I have people wanting to run me through the basics all over again, no one has anything to tell me now that I havent heard a hundred times.
  9. NO NO MORE DEATHMATCH Its just a gunship circle jerk, where experienced "pro" and "vet" pilots score free kills on inexperienced players and chase them away from GSF for good. You wonder why no one plays.
  10. This gunship spam is really lame, every deathmatch is easily 75% gunships on both sides, I dont want to play a gunship like everyone else but if I dont then I am just food for gunships, they have every angle covered by their sheer numbers. Naturally I am the main target because I am the only one that is moving, everyone else is strafe camping behind a rock. Its not hard to see why one wants to play GSF.
  11. I still have rough moments though. Last night I was in the most infuriating game I have played yet, the entire 10 minute match I was breaking target locks, it didnt matter where I went there were people chasing after me. I managed only 2 deaths in the match, one was a suicide, but I was honestly angry at not being able to shake these people. I tried to drag them to where my teammates were, but nothing worked. The only thing that saved me were my upgrades and cooldown reduction on power dive and targetting telemetry missile lock break. It was not a fun match, but one that I seem to get in often as long as I am not considered a threat, and people look to me for easy kills.
  12. After absorbing everything you have all said, having some 1 on 1 tutorial sessions with experienced pilots, many team flights and almost 40 recorded games this weekend I have seen noticeable improvement in my performance. Every stat I compared from this weekend to my total flights has increased by a noticeable amount, I have gotten a few achievements and even saw my name at the top of the scoreboard a couple times in both kills and assists. I still dont know what I am supposed to be doing in team deathmatches when it is just seems like gunship camping, I dont fare well in 1v1's in open areas against a lot of pilots, and I cant fly anything except my scout (due to upgrades, maybe). All in all its been a good weekend, I dont know if I will ever be as good as any of you, or if anyone will ever worry about it when they see me coming, but at least I dont feel like I am the sole reason my team loses. I dont feel as embarrassed... often humbled, but sometimes I actually get to feel pretty confident. Thanks for all the help.
  13. I am almost ready to quit, uninstall and cancell sub. Im just not getting good, and people are bullying me for 10 deaths a match, they see me and think: ill look super cool if I can get the most kills, and this guy is just giving them away, so the whole team gangs me People talk about they want to help me and then they say: Do the Tutorial. Read the guide on the forum Watch this youtube video. Aim for the center of the screen. Do a barrel roll. I have done all those things. It doesnet help.
  14. Thanks, its okay. As usual this community has been quite nice to me, even when I have been lamenting hard. I apologize to all of you for subjecting you to my whining, it was pretty bad the other night, and it wouldnt have been out of line to get upset with me - which no one did. I guess I will share what made me so angry, I tried out a GS and just got vaped every time I lined up a shot. Eudoxia killed me half a dozen times a match, and I got caught in a few games where it was a bunch of scattered imps against a GS ball, and I dont have anything but a scout ship with decent enough upgrades to fly. Still, it was good to play a few games in a GS them because now I have a (very) basic understanding of what they do. I did get a lot of tips last night on teamspeak, it was great, learned how to use the hud/target cam better, learned how well suited power dive was to my ship and playstyle. I have also availed myself of some video capturing software, so now I can watch my matches after the fact. This seems like a good idea because it is hard to be objective in real-time, I tend to focus on my failures and not recognize the times when I show some progress. Maybe when I can stop making Really Dumb Mistakes I can share some on youtube so people can see man maybe comment. I moved my main pilots to Harbinger, I can fly more now, and not against the same 6-8 people all night long. BUT If I dont see tangible results by the end of the weekend, I will know this is not the game for me, and I will quit. It isnt fun losing all the time, it isnt fun knowing that I am the reason the team loses, it isnt fun getting killed 10 times a game.
  15. The biggest hurdle in getting experience seems to be getting into a match to begin with, I have spent hours in the que with no luck, and while I am in that que I really cant do much other then wait, I cant really even switch toons because then if I do get in a match it will be in a stock ship with T0 upgrades. The community is so small, especially on JC. I see the same names in every game and by now I am sure people know who I am, and my skill level. I suspect this makes me a priority target which isnt necessarily bad: I have spent a few games with shots being fired at me the whole time, its forcing me to learn how to avoid them. I do spend time on Harbinger on both factions, this time I spent my first time fleet req on the 2x 2500 FR ships, so now I have one of each class to fly. Now that I have actually been in a gunship I have a better understanding of what they can and can not do, now i just need some matches to happen so I can build on my experience. Please que up.
  16. if you not in a group you will be behind people who are when they groups form, I sat alone in the que for an hour while a group I was chatting with got to play 3 times.
  17. The rewards for Flashpoints are terrible compared to the rewards for pretty much any other content, the only real tangible reward is the daily conquest reward but that is hardly the reason people play flashpoints. Since you could profit more from doing anything else, I see no reason to 'rush' the flashpoint by mashing your spacebar, the whole appeal to the flashpoint really should be the interactive story. If I am going to wait in line for a flashpoint that rewards me less gear, less experience, and certainly less credits the running heroics or farming, I am going to enjoy the cutscenes even if I have seen them several times. As far as seeing them several times goes, I have been playing for years, and I still have not seen every class every gender, every decision made, and though the story is the same, all it takes is a unique costume and a dialogue choice I haven't experienced to make it fresh. The biggest reason I dont skip the cutscenes is because if I do, and one of three others Dont, I am stuck staring at the final frame of the sequence for what feels like an eternity. Time geos faster and more enjoyable if I get to watch and hear things rather then stare at a lifeless cartoon face.
  18. the worst part about this game and the main reason I was unsubscribed for more than a year was that I would visit earlier planets and I would kill things before the animation of my skills would even get through a single frame. When I heard about level synching I re subscribed and I have been here since, not going anywhere. Single best thing they have ever done with the game, I cant even imagine why anyone wouldnt think so.
  19. I hope you are not using a healing companion with a sniper, that spec needs a tank companion. First, you should have at least Rank 10 Military before you attempt solo heroic if you are having difficulty, the Turret Alliance Power is just too good. When you reach the upper platform, before you approach the Exarch, drop that Alliance Turret, it draws significant aggro and will allow you a lot of free shots. After you drop the turret I suggest you activate heroic moment and precast your Agent Legacy Heroic Power. Begin to attack the Exarch who will attack the turret while eating the Orbital Strike, which is a good time for you to use your other heroic power. If you can draw aggro from the Exarch off the Turret that will allow your turret to last longer, score more damage and allow you another period of respite when they return to finish the turret. Without a taunt you might be able to have your tank companion do this, but you would probably have to bind their taunt skill, however it should not be necessary, even if you cant peel the Exarch off the turret they will take significant damage. When I do this, I can get the Exarch to at least half life, with a taunt I can reduce them to nearly 1/4 before the turret dies. Remember that you will have 2 skill activations of your heroic abilities during the channel of Heroic moment. Important: In order for your companion to survive this encounter you will need to keybind 2 skills, Companion 1 (attack) and companion 2 (active/passive toggle) You will want to passive toggle them during the aoe bomb phase and press the companion 1 keybind when it is over so that they resume their rotation of skills. You might also consider not soloing this heroic run until you have aquired a 220 or at least a 216 mainhand barrel/hilt, as this is the single most effective upgrade slot you have. Use this method, and as long as you have a decent skill rotation (ie you know your class mechanics) you should be able to trivialize this encounter. One final word about Healer Companions which cant be said enough - They are not as good a everyone thinks they are, their damage is Pathetic, and you can get more out of them by putting them in a damage role or in some cases a tank role. Using a healing companion will keep you alive indefinitely, but it will never allow you the opportunity to experience how powerful your defensive skills, target debuffs, stuns and interrupts can be, or how much of an impact a tight rotation of offensive powers can be. Finishing a fight 20-30 seconds sooner is well worth the cost of having to heal for 5 seconds between pulls. If you want to get good, remove the healer companion, and never use it again.
  20. Well of course botting is okay, whey do you think they buffed companions up so much in 4.0, why do you think there are instant lvl 60 tokens with full gear available to buy from the cartel market and trade on the GTN? Why do you think there are RMT spam messages in general chat every 15 seconds? why do you think every one of your characters get RMT mail directed to them everytime they change planets? Of course botting is OKAY. If it wasnt, it wouldnt happen. You know who doesnt allow botting? Arenanet. Go find RMT email or gen chat spam in GW2. You cant. Because it isnt allowed. You know who else doesent allow it? SquareEnix. There are others. Its not as hard to combat as people would lead you to think, in fact botting is really, really easy to spot. I dont mean to be offensive, but what in the world could possibly make you think that botting wasnt allowed? .
  21. Im pretty certain they dont care, if they did it wold be dealt with, its that simple. Arena net has a zero tolerance policy towards it, I have never once gotten a RMT message, and I have seen the gold selling spam in chat maybe twice, and each time the entire zone laughed at it, sure enough it wasnt there the next day. And this is on a game with mega-servers, and cross instance chats. Their last installment of their game had zero spam also. They dont want it, therefore they dont have it. - Farming gold is just as easy in that game, and frankly, things are a lot harder to obtain from their version of the GTN. So there is absolutely a market for it, and a profit to be had. I would think even more of a profit then in SWTOR. I know some people harbor this illusion that it is a bigger problem then people think it is, and 'it isnt as easy to stop it as you think' but there are games out there that dont have this problem because they deal with it. Bioware ignores it, and furthermore endorses it by creating systems that make it easier. 4.0 Companions and instant 60 tokens have been a botter's dream, it cant get any easier. It stands to reason that Bioware supports and endorses botting. A trip through Section X' Frozen Lake would seem to suggest this, as you can go there any time of day and see any one of the same few bots running the same routes and you can watch their bot ai scripts hanging on the same things as they compete with one another. If you flag for pvp against them they will freeze up and stare at your companion until you attack them and then they just respawn if you kill them. You can kill them 1000 times in a row if you like (and get an achievement). I am thinking about making my own bot for that, honestly. Clearly I will get away with it Look at their achievements, (0% everything except section X creature killing, not a single instance, companion conversation, alternate character, legacy unlock, etc) look at their gear, (free 60 token gear even at 65) skim over their action logs, (you will see the same patterns, every time) it would not be hard to identify these bots and eliminate them, if the devs were so inclined. they are obviously not. This is why you get email spam and gen chat spam, this is why it will never ever stop. Bioware doesn't care about botting, in fact, they endorse it. Here is another interesting fact: These Section X bots competing for Champion kills in Frozen Lake are competing with eachother (maybe its one person with 5 bots) for drops of 2-3k MAX, and they are selling it in chat for a dollar for every million. That is A LOT of botting. A lot of botting is easier to see then a little bit of botting, if they would only look.
  22. I should comment on that game, because it was really my best showing. I got the distinct impression that I was on a 'winning team' that time, and I have to admit I found a pilot who liked to park a gunship in pretty bad spots and I tried to bully him as much as possible, so that was where my acc/dmg was comming from. This map was filled with spaceship wreckage, so it was easy and fun to fly behind something whenever I got shot at, or whenever I was moving across the map even. I spent the match ducking behind cover to cover flying circa Obiwan vs Jango in the asteroid fields of Geonosis, which is really why I picked the Ocula as the ship I was intent to 'master'. We had a capture point that was hotly contested the whole match, but filled with well placed healing probes for me to stock up at, and I got some points defending that against attackers as I snaked around the wreckage. Every once in a while I faceplant while I am target camming. and some of the spots look like I can fit through but I cant. I am at the point now where my next upgrades are going to cost 10k each, trying to decide if I want to push for missile lock dump, or 20% more engine pool, or if I should abandon retro engines and go with barrel roll for the 10% more turn and 10% more speed. Speed and turn is life, but that 20% more pool seems pretty nice, though I wonder if barrel roll itself might be more practical then retro, especially at the beginning of a match where i might get a chance to cap a point before it is covered with red turrets. I have been getting a lot of tips from people, and I appreciate every one of them, but a few people try to tell me that I shouldnt try to fly the scout just yet, that I should learn the fundamentals and once I know more about the game I can come back to the scout and be better in it. I think if I get good in the scout from the start I will be good in the other ships, but sometimes when I forget to pick the ship and I get stuck in the Strike Ship I have a bad time because it cant move and has no engine pool. I can see where dealing with the speed and turnrate while learning the map layouts and learning how to deal with things i dont know enough about to anticipate, while learning how to shoot and aim can be overwhelming, but I am going to stay in this ship until I at lest max out one set of each component.
  23. Alemore is good, I noticed right away in one game I played with him, because I was keeping an eye out for him since he only had 1 ship in the hanger, a scout. People in that game cried about hax, but it is more likely that he is just a good player with a lot of experience, and inspires confidence in his teammates. My big problem is waiting a half hour or more for a que to come up just to lose 1000-1 or 0-50 in 2 minutes, because I am not learning anything getting my *** kicked every time I peek out from behind a rock
