  1. Some people like huttball, some people don't Some people like PvP, some people don't Why must everyone force their preference on others? I personally dislike huttball but if it pops up I'll just play it like any other warzone. Here's hoping BW would just make more warzones and let people choose which one they'd play, especially for regular warzones (population issues aside).
  2. 1. Because only 3 people in our guild (maybe 4) constantly do PvP 2. Because I already have full War Hero gear 3. Because I'm a Commando 4. Because I always thought ranked PvP is nothing but an e-peen measurement that hits most people on their face
  3. Probably because of words like current, torrent, etc. People like me especially since English is not my first. On topic: There is the fact that some people advise the undergeared people to stick to the ones that are better armed (which even if not told, is the better option to do unless it means leaving a spot undefended), but since those people are usually better off where the action is, the lesser geared will of course follow. Just a thought.
  4. Disadvantage of backpedalling: slower speed. Advantage of backpedalling: slower speed. That easy. But I'm sure a lot of people will still get it the wrong way.
  5. About the gear... Wouldn't it make more sense to propose it the other way around (make gear matter in unranked and world pvp, but make it level in ranked)? I mean, if ranked WZs are where people test their leet skillz, make it so that gear doesn't matter. After all, the incentive of doing ranked (aside from e-peen) is ranked warzone comms, which is kinda backwards since I saw a lot of people here suggesting that you should keep doing unranked to "fix" your gear, and most people who do it already don't have a need for those.
  6. Probably he meant mobility as in the ability to move from one place to another, while most of you meant the ability to move around freely in combat. Just a misunderstanding of the term involved.
  7. You should try playing a DPS commando/mercenary then. It'll be good for your health.
  8. Not sure if you'd be disappointed or encouraged, but I have a very similar specced laptop as yours (mine's Toshiba Qosmio F750: i7, GT540M 2GB, but only 4GB DDR3), and I run SWTOR just fine, as in not too laggy (didn't really use any FPS indicator, but pretty sure it's well above 30 fps, even in warzones). I'm even running it on default settings, with only shadows disabled. Sadly I really can't give you any advice or anything, since I don't know what caused the problem in yours. However, I do have some observations that after playing some other game or browsing, SWTOR can sometimes run with dreadful FPS (GPU lag), and the only way to fix it is to restart my laptop. Maybe it has something to do with other programs running on your system? Or maybe some settings in the NVIDIA control panel, especially the preferred graphics processor and stuff like that (but I'm sure you've tried those already, and have the drivers up-to-date since you mentioned tweaks). I hope it's not a defective card, if it's really GPU lag...
  9. Bounty Hunters (or Trooper)... If Mercenary/Commando: Knockback ASAP, sure. Then... snare? what snare? the one on gunnery / arsenal that we had to talent way up the tree to get a snare that roots ourselves? The one on the assault / pyro that happens only 16% when we use our standard attack? All the while feeling abit slower... probably something hit us? Or maybe we should use that other thing that people keep saying helps us to kite, which is what, a long-range stun for 4s that we can only use once every three fights. Except that after the first knockback, using it would mean full resolve and is pointless if they can then break out of CC (full resolve, why not?). And I think by then that guy can already use his charge again. Oh and cleanse? Again, how?
  10. Except that there IS a class that can't do any of them... well, except 'move'.
  11. For biggest proving effect, roll an Arsenal Merc / Gunnery Commando. While you're at it, record some vids of you owning pvp with that. Even better, do it in a ranked warzone.
  12. Yea, there needs to be some advantage, like what Artifice do... wait...
  13. And make the pvp vendor sell reusable stims and adrenals.

This is why so many people have acute tunnel vision
  15. This. The fact is that there are some practically useless classes that aren't doing anything good either 1v1 or in a team, and some classes do much better than others 1v1 and in a team. It's more like there are rock, paper, scissor, dynamite, and cheese. That's not balance. Stop playing your FOTM classes for once and try these other classes out.

Okay, the heals might be one, but untalented it takes a long time to cast, which is easily interrupted every time (except against another of our class, since we DON'T have interrupt). The mez is instant only if you buff yourself beforehand, and the buff is very useful for other skills, otherwise it's a cast and is not an AoE mez. If you think about using arsenal/gunnery in PvP, go take a look on their forums, or better yet, try playing one. Arsenal/gunnery snare roots yourself, which makes it less than a snare (though you can always cancel the attack and waste ammo, damage, and cooldown for the 2 second snare). Amazing snares in pyro/assault happens only 16%, and that's only if you waste GCD doing a normal attack. Did I tell you that it only has 16% chance to be applied? Knockbacks might be good, but only if you can get yourself in position. We have no root or speed up, so basically only knocks someone who comes to us, or fighting someone else. But then again, marauders/sentinels got leap which has a shorter cooldown. And our other knockback is only if we talent ourselves into the dreaded arsenal/gunnery spec.

Anyone saying about utility on a marauder/sentinel, tell me how it's worse than a commando/merc. 1 CC, 1 Mez, no root, no pull, no leap, 1 defense CD, no interrupt. Play one and tell me how marauders suck.
  18. 1. Novare Coast 2. Voidstar 3. Civil War 4. Jediandsithball
  19. Kinda agree, but it's still situational. In cases where you can, the sprint and slow can be used to LoS or simply escape, which gives more survivability. And as I said, the 25% dmg reduction and interrupt immunity is 12 secs on 2 mins cooldown, so you can only use it once in a fight, and doesn't last that long. And the interrupt immunity is still useless if you get CC'd or knockbacked.
  20. If you think healer sages got it bad, play a healer commando. No interrupt, no sprint, no slow, same knockback, bubble ~= reactive shield, force > ammo, can't pull someone over to your side to cover you. Though they have the heavy armor (useless against internal/elemental), the instant heals (31 points up the tree for a heal less than the standard amount on a long cooldown, and an AoE heal that heals only 4 people for half the previous one), and an uninterruptible talent on the shield (which lasts for 12 secs on a 2 mins cooldown).

    This. Because glowsticks are leet
  22. It's common knowledge to keep two sets of gear, one for PvE and one for PvP, given how the devs separate the gear progression for these two. As for recruit gear requirement, I wouldn't go as far as having them as a requirement, but seriously coming in without any expertise and hoping to have fun? Masochist or saboteur?
