  1. When I left the game, there were no mounts, only vehicles. I haven't fully adjusted to the change. My sleepy brain saw "ugly scaly grey-ish animal".
  2. No problem. In general, I think Matthew Stover really has the rights to "best writer in the SW EU", though Zahn is certainly the most influential. You may also wish to check out Stover's Ep. 3 novelization; if that had been what we'd seen on the screen, it'd have been even better than Empire Strikes Back, I think. It's really an object lesson on the importance of editing; the vast majority of crucial events are shared between book and movie, but pacing, subtle alterations and additions to dialogue, and a few minor additional scenes really transformed the whole thing. That said, he doesn't appeal to everyone, and if you don't like one Stover book, you're not likely to like the others.
  3. Don't have my finger on the pulse of the game, but wouldn't a lot of the problems for soloing and "this is supposed to be an orbital strike" be fixed by making it a heroic moment ability and giving something else that isn't constrained by a need to both have a use for PvE endgame and the previous associations of an orbital bombardment?
  4. Yes, I'm aware, and the essential idea is interesting, but the practical application isn't much better than a Shonen anime would do with the same concept. Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor. Best Star Wars product ever, IMO; a triumph of conciseness in writing characters from multiple eras and continuities that manages to do great Space Opera pulp with its B Story while its A Story is one of the rare good musings on the Force.
  5. When I resubbed for Galactic Star Fighter (I did) I thought Space Missions were getting expanded, with ship customization; it never occurred to me to check if they would add another poorly integrated (if fun) idea to the game. I was always really impressed by how well player character combat and PvE combat were integrated in the base game, and let down by space missions feeling shoved into a corner. GSF is the problem carried further. While there's little doubt in my mind that GSF is a legitimately solid product that enhances immersion by including a critical part of the Star Wars Universe, more has to be done to connect it to the ground game for me to think of it as part of the "main" game.
  6. I've long shared this criticism and believe it significantly hurts Zahn's credibility as a writer. I believe he did an excellent job with his supporting cast (particularly Pellaeon) and returning members, but Karrde, Mara Jade and super-especially Thrawn benefit from writer fiat rather than true cleverness more than they needed to. I'm especially critical of Thrawn's pointless art schtick; by analogy, he'd gain a significant edge against, say, Genghis Khan by examining a series of Rembrandt paintings (created well after Khan was alive.)
  7. Up all night, playing SWtOR. In the fleet. All of a sudden I pass a naked night elf on a kodo. Froze up. Really confused. Questioned the pizza I ate. On second look, it was a slave-outfit human female with the long purple hair in pink lighting on a dewback. Thought it was funny, so thought I'd share.
  8. No idea. I'm Republic, and I go for the opposite sort of aesthetic anyway.
  9. Anything with that trait behaves as if it were appropriately leveled armor of the heaviest possible type the wearer is capable of using. So on a Jedi Shadow, light; on a Scrapper, medium; on a Vanguard, heavy. Works for companions, too. All social gear that I've seen has it.
  10. Is the Adaptive Armor trait stapled onto social gear, and more gear being moddable. Without getting any actual gear upgrades, my character and her companions no longer look like Jill the Magical Force Hobo With A Darksaber and Her Merry Clown Warriors. I have a lightsaber color I actually like, I'm no longer ashamed to keep Tharan out in public, and though I have to wear a skirt still, I've at least got a chestpiece I'm fond of. This was seriously the right move, BW. Make a few more moves in that direction when you can spare the time.
  11. Oh, well, that's nice! And thank you for the welcome. I don't think Spectre is back, I had to leave for RL reasons and the rest of the guild moved out for other reasons afterwards. But I'm continuing to wear the tag for now.
  12. My ship is all purps for anything that can be purp. At least, AFAIK, I've been gone a while. I'm going to try to see what is profitable from my crew skills so I can boost whatever income I get from dailies. I'll see whether I prefer space missions or Corellia dailies soon enough, thanks to the person who told me I can port there now. Appreciate it.
  13. Question 1: Bought two PvP Adrenal Schematics. Didn't learn either one. Just me? I put in a bug report. Question 2: And when I can learn the schematic, is it RE-able to get higher levels of it, or make a reusable one? Question 3: What sells best for biochem these days, without going into PvE content? I don't have time to reliably engage in operations or HM FPs.
  14. I'm not particularly picky which type, though if you have multiple, I lean towards Indestructible or Hawkeye. I'm on Republic Side, but willing to try to work something out through the Nar Shaddaa AH if necessary.
  15. Infil to 30, Kinetic after that.
  16. /me facepalms. I make a little bit of money every time I log in. I'm weighing my options as to which is the best of them. I'm not looking for a 'get rich quick' scheme, and I said as much in the first post.
  17. When the thread is more than a few weeks old, probably not worth it to necro. Not having this issue myself, so I can't help. You didn't alter the resolution, did you? That's all I can think of.
  18. I'm not even sure where that is, tbh, and I'm skeptical of doing dailies since at minimum that would probably require me to go through six loading screens round-trip to get back to the fleet. I remember back in launch and so, doing Ilum dailies always took longer than I expected it to when I was trying to budget time.
  19. I can't afford to spend more than 1-2 hours on the game daily at most, usually - that means I can log in and do my PvP daily and then I have a little bit of time left over. After that, the best I can hope for really is idling while I study. My crew skills are BioTech, Diplomacy, and BioAnalysis. I'm willing to drop Diplomacy for something else if it works out for me, but I doubt there's anything that attractive. I'm wondering if I should spend my extra time doing the daily flight missions, keep WZing, or if there's a crew skill combo I should use. I'm not looking for anything that gives me super-money - I know anything that gives good money now would require a significant time investment. I just want a steady trickle of money so I can start buying legacy things.
  20. Hey Kitru, good to see you still around. I thought about 23/1/17, I noticed Infiltration Tactics got a huge buff. Was worried the buff wouldn't be up often enough to be able to comfortably rely on having that burst though - I have never been the best proc-watcher, I relied heavily on addons to make that more tolerable for me in WoW.
  21. Yeah, but a lot of your mitigation beyond armor doesn't actually function that well against the overwhelming majority of player damage. Hence the question. Also, am trying 23/0/18 right now!
  22. Alright, that's about what I thought. As before, I have to gear myself for 1.5x as much as a DPS. Hoo boy. Still ditching shield gen for power gen, or keeping shield gen with different mods now (now that they are moddable)?
  23. 31/0/10 PvP Slow Upheaval. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#601rcrozrskrsZZf0cM.2 I'm okay with not really killing people except very slowly, that's why I roll tank style.
  24. Hey all. I'm back from a long break. Is the consensus still 'buy survivor, replace mods with stalker', or should I go straight up for survivor gear from here on out? I've gotten some mixed signals on the subject.
