Yep. Kinrath Spider. Bioware is too damn proud to admit they opened too many servers, and close a few of them.

I would support this. Closing 50% of the servers however seems a bit extreme. If you look at the Pax East interview. They can't even MENTION the WORD "Server Merger" It's like Mergers are Lord Voldemort or something. Given this, there's no way on The Great Flying Spaghetti Monster's green Earth that they'd close HALF of their servers. Close the lowest 5 servers, barring transfers to the top 5. Bioware gets some things very well. Storytelling, lore, and other such things found in their single player games. The MMO aspects such as crafting and PvP however, they just don't seem to have the knack for. Yet. I get that they're new to the scene, but still, it's very lacking right now.

You really don't get how doing that contributes to the problem, and not the solution, do you? Throwing out random quips about other posters you've read about doesn't make you any better a debater. It's laughable that you'd call me entitled for calling attention to a serious problem for some players (and thus, Bioware). Yes, once a barren ghost town, Kinrath Spider is now packed to the brim with about 90 people serverwide (Republic) -- 30 or so on the Fleet.

Actually, I didn't say at all that the solution is to repopulate lower pop servers. I'm just trying to keep the conversation flowing in the realm of transfers rather than mergers so as not to have the thread closed and told to discuss it in the "merger" thread. Truth be told I believe that they need to close 4 - 5 servers and let players decide where they'd like to immigrate (Barring the ones that are constantly full queued). They flat out opened too many at launch. Playing an MMO without a community is no fun.

If they did it this way, it be not be as bad. If they only opened transfers from The Fatman and only to a server like Kinrath Spider, it wouldn't be as bad an idea. Still a bad idea, just not as bad of one.

From Pax East To be blunt, offering players the option only to transfer servers will do more harm to low population servers than good, and is a bad idea. At the time of writing this thread, my server (republic side of Kinrath Spider) has 16 people on the Fleet, not including myself. Doing a search of various zones shows that the server is next to vacant. If and when server transfers are offered, what is almost guaranteed to happen with players on servers like this? They're going to take a look at their character (or collectively as a guild), think about the time they've invested in the game compared to the absolute lack of people to play with, and move to a higher population server. The situation will get worse. Now, there may be the oddball or two who are already on high population servers and wish to move to a more quiet atmosphere (hey, it happens), and move to a low pop server but let's be honest, the likelihood of this even producing a noticeable effect is next to nothing. Server transfers -alone- are going to make the situation worse for low population servers. PS- Love the flippant remark about "I'm going to guess you must have come in late", Bioware.
