  1. Railguns negate armour and have shield bleedthrough. You have one shot to alert you, and by then the second is coming. sure you can target them by using r but by the time you have tracked off to find them they have the second shot lined up. I call ******** on the effective range argument. Most of my kills using the railgun come within the 6km range and usually while i AM dogfighting. They do not NEED the range, they have it, and it is too much. Hence the thread.
  2. But its sooo much fun when your the one blowing you up... Keep coming back, i promise ill leave you alone....
  3. Nope, strike fighters and scouts take the same amount of damage. One just has more hull life than the other. your only a problem for scouts argument is moot, too much damage, too much range, one has to make way for the other.
  4. They do need to reduce the range, or they could reduce the damage by a %age to compensate for energy disipation, say +12km away it drops 50% of its power, + 10-12km it is 75% of its power, or similar. At the moment getting picked out of the air, before you realise you need to take one out does detract from the dogfighting and space battle a little, i wouldnt remove it, but i would tone it down.
  5. On paper charged plating for ft-6 strike fighters has a higher time to live.... For example, a standard over charged blaster fired from rapid fire lasers will hit for approximately 250. A strike fighter with upgraded health and charged plating will have 1450 health, and 2790 shields with 25% damage reduction using deflection armour. This means, with every shot, the fighter pilot takes 25% of 50% hull damage or 94 hull damage per hit. Or 15.5 direct laser hits. In comparison, a fighter with quick charged shields has 1450 health, and only 1260 shields keeping the 25% damage reduction using deflection armour on and one shield arc you would require 5 direct hits to drop the shields, keeping in mind these regen at 60% while taking damage. Its normal regen rate is 157 per second, so while taking damage it will regen 94.2 shield power per second. Assuming you don't notice the enemy behind you, and it takes you less that 6 seconds for you to notice that your shields are taking damage your shields would probably handle one laser hit every 2.6 seconds. This is important. Quick charged shields, will only take 5 shots before they are negated, on the lowest damaged output weapon available, meaning your hull then gets hit by the full brunt of the lasers, meaning in 7.7 more hits, your ship is destroyed. So in total, you need 12.8 direct hits to destroy the strike fighter on any one shield arc. The math shows that the strike fighter is better off with charged plating, as theoretically it takes more hits to destroy it. The problem comes in when you add the pilot, Using the abilities and manoeuvring, A strike fighter with charged plating disadvantages himself because he is ALWAYS taking hull damage. Sure his shields are large, and he will always have shields, but he will always take hull damage on a hit. Quick charged shields on the other had provides total stopping power, meaning if the pilot can out manoeuvre hit opponent, his shields will take all the damage, fully upgraded the regen rate of these shields is insane, and the 30% boost is just enough to recover your shields if your slow to react to an attacker behind you. the Difference is more staggering when taking on a gunship. A hit from a rail gun will sting you for 1600 damage. Charge plating would take 600 damage on the hull. Quick Charged shields would take 255 Damage to the hull. The pilot with quick charged shields would be dead the next hit, but if the gunship pilot has Shield piercing, giving him 10% more shield bleed-through and ignore armour then we get a different picture Charged Plating would take 960 hull damage Quick Charged Shields would take 340 damage. Now I know the 60% hull damage reduction would change those number significantly, and on the second hit, the strike fighter with charged plating would take much less damage, 360 if he activated his ability, but I know what ship id rather be in, the one in better shape to run than the one ruined in one shot.
  6. I find that missiles are a nice to have to finish off the last bit of the hull, not a necessity. If you cant kill a foe with just raw lasers then your dogfighting skills need polishing.
  7. Hey Man, Phoenix sounds just right. We are a pvp/pve guild that raids twice a week and are in progression mode. We pvp when we are not doing anything else so will often have a pvp group running as well. Ill hit you up in game if you dont get to me first. Hoarus.
  8. Hey Man, Phoenix is a pvp/pve guild looking for new members for pvp and pve. I'll flick you a whisper in game, if you see me first hit me up. Hoarus.
  9. You know, i don't buy the new account due to lost authenticator business. If you were the account holder, you would be able to get a one time password sent to your email account using the lost authenticator link in the my Swtor section of the website.
  10. Subtle? What kind of moron would complain about not being able to compete because he cant get games writing, check the stats on the Bastion, when he actually played on a eu server. As for the assumption I am referring to APAC times, you are wholly incorrect. I was on the fleet yesterday looking for games during American prime time. Ranked queues not popping on the Harbinger is not a new complaint either. It has been mentioned for weeks on the server forums that pops are not happening, and countless times people have tried to organise games. All this does is highlights how poor the decision to remove ranked 8v8 warzones was. The reasoning to remove them was that it was too hard to get groups to play them, well guess what, its still too hard. And its even worse now as some people just don't like deathmatch type games. Moving servers is not a solution. If i move like so many others have it just gets worse, and then i have characters on one server for pvp, and another server for raiding, as well as imp toons. How is that a social MMO model that works? Id then have the same problems finding a team as no-one would know if i was any good or not. If telling me to move servers to pvp is your only advice then id think you'd have said your peace and farewell. But you take it one step further and imply im scared to move because id find out im not as good as the players on a pvp server? Well, ive got news for you buddy, my current rating would suggest im hardly good enough for the server im currently playing on. In fact, id be surprised if you found anyone with a solo rating over 1500 on my server(Which is the Harbinger, just to spell it out for you). Current discussion points that have no weight. Move servers - Cant move, its more about the ranked scene on the server than being able to play ranked. I know its available else where, but its unfair the harbinger players cannot compete with other servers or move their ratings due to games not being "Readily" availalble,. Get your own people together to make games - Someone has to lose. You cant match make a group of 8 people evenly and fairly. This will do nothing to increase or improve ones ratings in either the solo or group environment. 857 people have rankings, you must be lying - The "Rankings" apparently require that you have 10 games before your given a rank. That is rubbish, a toon of mine Jayeda, is on the leader boards with a 1226 rating and has played exactly 3 games. 2 wins, 1 loss. It doesnt show losses but there is absolutely no way you can get a 1200+ rating if you have only had 2 wins out of 10 games. furthermore, just because they have ratings does not mean they are still queuing. Like i said, if you check them their ratings have hardly moved, if at all. YOur probably wondering why i posted this thread ? I posted it to highlight how ranked pvp is failing, and i wanted some discussion or an official stance from bioware what they plan to do to incentivise ranked pvp participation.
  11. From the people i have checked, from the Harbinger, they are not. No-one i have checked has had a game in the last few days. There really was alot of this in the opening post. I'm surprised as your normally a lot sharper than this Andryah. Feels like your just trying to troll.
  12. Like i sad before, /who shows nobody in arena's. Not a sausage. zip zero, ziltch. Im not sure how that fact is being overlooked.
  13. You have little understanding of the APAC drama then. Like i said in my opening post, i have no desire to move servers, and im certainly not paying for it. I may have chosen the wrong server for pvp, as i came from MDN, an Australian based PVP server when they forced us, i chose the Harbinger as it had a much larger population, and seemed to have lots of pvp matches happening. Regardless of your opinion on how one should fair on a certain type of server, pve or pvp, we should all have equal ability to get games so we can play. This is more a where the **** is the cross server queues that were supposed to launch with season 1 problem. If the Harbinger is strugling to get pops, then the lower populated servers are surely stuffed.
  14. PVP and especially arena needs this before PVE content.
  15. Considering the season length is reportedly 6 months long I feel pretty cheated not being able to play. All that is happening is that i get further and further from the leaders. I mean im not going to say im the greatest player of all time, but i would at least like to have the opportunity to try and compete.
  16. See signature. My ratings are low - medium. I should not really have a problem getting matches. Even with a new toon that has no rating i don't get matches, its not that the rating system is excluding me, its that no-one is queuing. As i said above a /who of the arenas turns up no players except the odd lowbie match.
  17. Hello, The current arena season is unfair, why? Because i cant get games. How can i compete in an arena season when i cant get games? A fair season would consist of being able to queue and get matches within a reasonable time frame. I sat on fleet for about an hour yesterday waiting for a pop. But got nothing. And there was no matches when i /who'd the arena venues. When they are they are reg matches. It is highly unfair that i cannot reasonably compete in arena's with out having to transfer to a new server. As an APAC player, put quite frankly, im sick of moving servers, and I feel I should not have too. What are your plans to rectify this current problem? Do a quick check of the players on the harbinger and youll see that the ratings have not changed for them for a few days.
  18. 80's? I think your mistaken. Now if you had said 1990's then i could believe you. On September 26, 1990 wing commander was released for PC DOS. It was later re-released for amiga and PC in 1994. Star Wars x-wing was released in February 1994. the only space games released in the 1980's i can think of are Trade wars(A BBS game), and elite. Now elite is a space trading game, much like privateer, which excludes it from your comparison, and trade wars is also a trading game. The only thing that comes close to GS is the aforementioned X-wing or Wing Commander in terms of play style and combat. Wing Commander and X-wing were considered among the best of the space sim era, and if you are likening GS to them then i would say that GS is probably lacking the deep PVE involvement of the games but would agree that the play style is very similar. In fact, i would say the freelancers combat system is more like GS and I personally loved that game. Freelancer to me is what EVE should have been. So which is it? Care to clarify your comparison a little?
  19. So am I. The game has come a long way already but this really is icing on the cake. Just think what the player base would have been like if swtor launched with this expansion. Not only is it an mmo, now its a flight sim as well. Would still love a cockpit mode tho guys *wink* *wink*
  20. Oh, if your interested in the load out, I was using heavy lasers with the quickfire lasers as secondary.
  21. I took some footage of a game at the kuat lost shipyards map from galactic starfighter on the pts. This video shows off the versatility aof the mechanics and abilities nd shows of some of the intense dogfighting you can experience in game play. Bioware have done a fantastic job of this expansion and this video really shows off that work in my opinion. Unedited live pts gameplay after the link.
  22. I support this thread. For the record, you can approach pretty much any player from phoenix if you are looking for a game. We will do our best to put something together for you
  23. This ^ pretty much sums it up pvp wise. Make Turbulence usable. Make smash hurt us less Make us able to escape.
  24. I think we are one of these teams your talking about here. We have seen some pretty weird comps against you guys. But, and this is in no way meant to insult you guys, our guys do get a little frustrated being beaten by any combination you throw together. I'm all for bettering ourselves, and i'm also not afraid of losing continually either, but its pretty hard to keep a team together loss after loss and so I understand why some people are not the eager to jump in. Like I said above, if you guys want games, we can definitely throw some guys together. Most of the time I have to play my alts just to get a team together so cant play my most geared and toons im strongest on. I think our guys would be more open to some kickball type arrangements where the teams were balanced. At least until we got a good understanding of some strats or advice and tips from the better pvpers. If you guys just want to stomp a group of people that are not in your league, we can probably do it a few times a week. But I don't see it lasting as our guys are just getting demoralised. And that's about the truth of it.
