  1. That would be a good build. Power dive and rapid fires are underrated. You are also derailing the thread again Verain. Please take the discussion to another thread. Perhaps a thread titled "Disagree with Verain here" would be appropriate since you have a growing fan base.
  2. 4.1 is good. I'm not sure what mine is currently but last time I checked we have similar stats. Its the bad matches that define an ace, not his good ones.
  3. Im going to come and roll an alt on your server. Which faction is weakest?
  4. I think the purpose of his over thought was to illustrate how he feels he cannot have fun without playing a gunship when matches turn to gunship snipe sessions. But that was just my interpretation.
  5. We have similar experiences I believe. I don't fair to badly in a gunship, but the play style does not suit me. this is not a slight against the gunship tho. Ultimately I think you do gimp your team by not having one available..
  6. Across your entire battle record on a baseline of 1000 matches a K/D of 5:1 is actually pretty high. Especially if you have included all your various ship types. You might get 15+ kills some matches, but to maintain a 5:1 ratio is pretty difficult, but how often to you do that with one death, or none?
  7. Rap music is pretty bad tho.
  8. Seriously? I expected more from you bro.
  9. Excuse me, but THIS guy was very much on topic. Is this not an aces thread? Is the discussion of aces not the subject for this thread. If my definition of an ace does not align with your view, all of a sudden its gunship QQ? I validated my statement by providing details of my view point, stating why i though gunships pilots were not aces by my definition. All you did was try to insult me. That's derailing a thread imo. As you can see, the last pages of this thread were in response to your inappropriate post.
  10. You know I hate to point this out, but i'm glad you were honest and said it, most gunship pilots probably share the same feeling. They don't dogfight well. It's my opinion that many people switch to the gunship after doing poorly in strikes and scouts, and find hey, i can get a few kills here and rack up some decent damage. Don't get me wrong i understand this above concept. The flight aspect and target tracking can be a bit daunting at first. The problem is people who do not do so well dogfighting are given a ship that requires little movement or tracking, and provides great damage from a safe distance. This gives those people struggling with the turning battles and crowded skirmishes an opportunity to contribute and participate. I get that.(This is a very politically correct approach). What has happened tho is that the people now flying the strikes and the scouts have now found that there are sacrificing their enjoyment for those that play gunships. Gunships, shooting from a far, break up dogfights by popping them off mid skirmish, thus focusing the match around gunship control. the best class at controlling gunships, are other gunships as they force the enemy gunships to focus on them. The more gunships, the more are needed to control the other gunships. This is a self defeating loop and terrible design. And that's about the guts of the gunships are overpowered argument. Don't get me wrong, a number of bombers are insanely hard to displace from nodes in domination matches, and gunships in this case are helpful to help displace them. But the range of gunships and the damage they provide is far too great that they are clearly breaking the matches. Bombers can be displaced by scouts and strikes, but they have to do so carefully, and it takes a good co-ordinated strike on the node. This is a great thing, and I actually like this aspect. But when your strikes and scouts spend all their time chasing gunships with endless engine pools, it removes the aspect of the game these people signed up to play. I/We(if anyone agrees) don't play strikes or scouts to play against an enemy teams with a gunship gauntlet placing bets who can make the Kuat mesa run in less than 15 parsecs. But honestly that is how it feels for me.(Its wise to note parsecs are a measure of distance) And if you do manage to get on one of them, your only hunted by it for the rest of the match, killed while on the tail of your challenging opponent, unless you choose to dedicate the match to one of tick tack toe, vengeance or avoidance, is this seriously bioware's intention for GSF gameplay?(A Dev response to this would be wonderful, however doubtfull) Lets forgo the advertised intensive dogfighting action and have the kuat mesa run, and the tick tack toe match. until this changes, i see little future for this aspect of the game(Dogfighting), and all tho that may be just my opinion, time will show whether its actually fact or not.
  11. No, i disagree here. In the recent double XP weekend I was playing an alt and playing GSF for the extra XP. I didn't upgrade any of my ships and the stock ships are fine. They have granted more weaknesses that an upgraded ship, but the upgrades are there to enhance your style. The defaults give you a very good base. For example the scout emphasises its design to be fast, and they give you engines abilities that match that play style. they give you shields that can be regenerated quickly on demand, and so on. Will they be as strong as a mastered ship, maybe not, can they compete with a mastered ship, I believe so. The upgrades do more to change your play style than they do to provide you an advantage, sure the lasers do more damage, the shields take more damage, you survive a little more but the idea of the upgrades is to help you remove the weaknesses you have in your flying, or your opponants strengths and build to suit your style. Then you make it more potent. The only reason the mastered ships are so powerfull is because the pilots using them understand them so well. I can do particularly well, and top damage/kills in an un-mastered strike or scout, other times I cannot. Its just not the ships you are flying in or with or against in the equation, its the pilots as well.
  12. Haha, you do well at proving my point.
  13. Its the TT/CF combo that makes scouts particularly lethal. Any scout has this option, and combined with rocket pods makes for great pain. But you are right, these could probably use a small tweak.
  14. You will be lucky to get to July when they release them at this rate. I'm sure it will happen, but i'm unsure how much people will be playing if the trend continues.
  15. I was almost certian your advice would be "just get a gunship lolz, ets ezay maode man!"
  16. <Shudders> at number 2. That is almost currently how most death matches are atm anyway. Although i dont think a full strike/scout match would be entirely bad. At least you'd be dogfighting. On the PTS when we actually got some test games happening, we banned gunships, a long with a few other rules like leaving one node uncapped(so we got more time testing) but without gunships, the game is thoroughly entertaining and balanced. That alone should be indicative to the devs of what the problems are currently. But as we all know, GSF forums are almost all but ignored by Devs
  17. It does not worry me what you think. Since you only ever play a gunship, how could you ever understand. Go off and snipe the rest of your server to absolute death and your server no longer pops. I honestly do not care. you'd actually think someone that was legitimately "Good" would recognise the flaws of the gunship design, and how it detracts attention away from the dogfight game. i guess your just not one of THOSE players.
  18. To be honest, I have a 6 month sub that ends late April, and if no news of changes come for the gunship, im probably going to exit GSF. I have gone to playing GSF every day during US Prime time and Oceanic prime time on the harbinger, to not playing at all. It seems everytime I get in a dogfight lately, im getting obliterated by 2 or three gunships. I check every death by pushing the R key to cycle through all the people that just hit me. And consistently its gunship, gunship, gunship, my current target. For a game that boasts "Intensive dogfighting action" its seriously falling short 80% of the time. The 20% of the time it doesn't fall short is when gunships either are not in the match, or are not above 2. Hell even the dev, While showcasing BOMBERS, was constantly in the gunship, or switching to it. How is that showcasing the bomber? He actually got into the gunship to destroy other gunships and fighters, cos lets face it, its easier, and he was criting undamaged ships for 2k..... with 28% passive shield penetration that's 560 hull damage minimum. Add a bypass in there giving you 16% more shield pen and that's a total of 44% shield pen, or 880 hull damage minimum. No add a damage overload to this and...... a 15km wrecking ball. I actually found it funny watching him fight the urge to run back to the cap ship when he was being attacked in the gunship(still had turrets when the showcase was on). Where is the dogfight in being obliterated from afar? While i'm not an advocate of leaving games for others, i'm teetering on the verge, and with the dogfighting module for SC coming out mid April, if they do it better and i can actually, you know, dogfight, i doubt you'll see my strike out there. You guys can all snipe the hell out of each other with out me.
  19. This doesn't actually make him an ace. It only goes to illustrate how Overpowered gunships are. Hell, I can get beat in a dogfight, then jump in my gunship and shoot the guy that killed me from 15km away. I don't tho because gunships are cheap ******** ships that really don't have a solid place in the game in their current state. Hell I don't even have one in my ship list.
  20. Your supposed to do it in your head. Its a "in your head" type of check. The " Ask yourself" statement was probably a bit vague...
  21. Ask yourself this little question, it will help you determine your target priorities. Out of all the ship types on the battle field it is most dangerous to leave which ship alone.... Out of all the ship types, I get killed the most often by.... Out of all the ship types the one that tops the damage/kills charts most is..... Out of all the ship types the current record holders for most sections in the GSF starfighter records thread is..... Out of all the ship types, I spend the most time chasing..... In a death match, we usually switch to a ....... to help turn the battle. If you have answered gunship to more than three of these questions, then you canclearly see that they are currently dominating the game, and it is because they are unbalanced.
  22. You should have ended thread after that sentence.
