Tactic: Dealing with Elite Mobs as a Merc?

Pop cooldowns; gear up Mako; get better. People keep saying "Arsenal is so much better for pve", but so far that sounds like garbage. I leveled entirely in Pyro and never had an issue with anything below Champion/Boss level elites. Even when two elites aggro, once you get Concussion Blast, it's laughable. As a pyro, I never get hit by their aoe's, because I can move and fire my main attacks - avoiding them completely. And if they're melee elites...then it's just a joke. I'm annoyed with myself if I let them hit me at all. As for Mako, make sure she's always in healing stance, and take off her damaging attacks. Makes a huge difference. The only "attack" type I let her use is her 8 second mezz, which is friggin brilliant. -
You have tools to stop this, and if you're not good enough at using them, roll a Pyro and realize Melee are actually underpowered in this game, overall.

Even as a fresh 50 in Warzones against 50 healers with more resilience, I still don't have much trouble taking them down without an interrupt. Rather than moaning about what you don't have, maybe just get better at using the tools you do have. The fact remains, your time fighting a healer is also wasted time on your part. You should only do it if you absolutely have to. Learn and understand your role, and you will also stop putting (not the best dps) in brackets, because usually you will be. As for the problem of having too many Mercs in one group - that is something every mmo in the history of mmo's has had to deal with. Not every class should get an interrupt. Honestly there should only be half the classes that get one, rather than us be the only ones who don't. But rather than crying about being the only class without one - just understand that no one should be expecting you to interrupt and just continue spamming your tracers or whatever you do.

The game's still an infant, and they have much more important things to be working on. I imagine more will happen later on, as the whole point of an MMO is the "story" is never truly over. -

A lot more people are annoyed by the lack of same-sex romance in the game than those who want Tracer Missile's animation changed. Just because you don't care about it, doesn't mean you have to be ignorant. -

All I know is once I get my BiS helm, I'll be toggling hide helmet. The one I have been wearing for the last 15 levels is immaculate...I honestly wish I could keep it and just put in endgame mods to put it on par with the helms that drop/are purchased. -
Twice I have noticed TSO not reducing the heat cost of my Fusion missile. So I do note there could be something credible to this claim.

Kunovega is telling you how it is from an Arsenal standpoint, and probably should have prefaced that. Guardians and Juggies are only tough for Pyro if they're tank-spec. What's the point of this thread, anyway? To moan about being ganked, or brag about a failed one?

My Rapid Shots deal 3-400 damage and cost zero heat. My missile blast deals 7-800 and costs the farm. If all you're doing is padding your kills, why bother using a hot skill instead of a cool one? Maybe it's because My rapid shots proc a snare, so that's why I'm conditioned to use them a lot.

As long as you're targeting an enemy, you are also technically targeting yourself. Combustible Gas Cylinder + Sweltering Heat + Jet Boost + Electro Dart. How is a Melee Force-User out-kiting you? Just practice more. You have all the tools. -
If he's beating you 1v1, that just means he's better than you. I have never lost a 1v1 against an Arsenal/Gunnery mirror. The idea makes me frown. Juggernauts and Healer Ops(and their mirrors) make me frustrated 1v1, besides that, I sail smooth through any class. Don't listen to people who tell you only one is viable for pve and pvp. Pyro was built with pvp in mind. That doesn't mean a smart Pyro can't keep up with Arsenal in pve. Arsenal was built with pve in mind. That doesn't mean a smart Arsenal can't keep up with Pyro in pvp.

Haven't needed one in 47 levels, I wonder if the next three will all of a sudden become difficult and show me how much I'm missing out. Some of you sound truly pathetic.

There are much cheaper things you could be spamming to do that. At any rate, I use it when I'm perma-kiting a champ melee mob since I always have between 15 and 0 heat. Or if I need a standard mob to **** of my face. Besides that, as a Pyro merc...it is too hot. Give it a 6 second DOT, and I guarantee I'd use it.

Yup, as long as he's not actually healing for you, he's pretty hilarious. Torian and Gault annoy me. Mako and Blizz are my favorites. Blizz makes me laugh at the very least once per hour. Skadge makes me laugh too the way he's so annoyed and abrasive. "If it'll shut you up!" "It's always somethin with you, aint it?" "You done botherin me?" - makes me laugh, but not nearly as much as Blizz. I'm 47, and Mako's the only one I've bothered to get past 1,000 affection. Maybe I'll do Blizz's storyline once I'm 50 and bored though. The others can rot.

So what is your Bounty Hunter legacy name?

My original main was an Inquisitor named Virulence, so I made my legacy name "Vitriol". After that, I rolled a BH and chose a name that sounded good with the legacy. So now I'm Torvek Vitriol. -
I love the ship, but I also hope ships become a lot more customizable...almost like a whole other class-selection process. Borrow some ideas from Eve Online, and let us build our own ships, maybe even with a talent tree.

1. Arsenal Mercs who are serious about pvp do not want a laser-targeter with their main attack. 2. I will just stop using Fusion Missile completely if I have to see my character taking a dump to use it. I don't care what's easier, it's a bad idea. -

If someone tells you that you can't pvp in Arsenal, they're talking out of their ***. If someone tells you that you can't pve in Pyro, they're talking out of their ***. Pyro players often can't handle the "turret-style" that Arsenal brings. Arsenal players often can't handle the more intense heat management that Pyro brings. That doesn't mean you have to be one or the other only. Good players are the desirable commodity, it means a lot less what your spec is. Arsenal is, however, more forgiving to bad players to allow them to be pretty decent anyway. Pyro forces you to pay more attention and be more meticulous in your rotation, and also forces you to learn how to play mobile and control the field of play with your presence or lack thereof. I have gone through the first 43 levels as Pyro, and will finish the last 7 as Pyro as well. This game is not hard enough to warrant needing to be a certain spec to level with. And if you know how to manage your heat and take the valuable heat talents, laugh at anyone who says Pyro can't be competitive in pve. They can come back once they have combat logs. -

Funny, I've never had an Arsenal Merc come even remotely close to me in damage. Nor topped me in kills, objective points, defender points or healing points. Seems like my "laughable mobility" makes me a better Merc to have around, doesn't it? The only thing an Arsenal Merc will beat me in is Killing Blows...and I don't give half a **** about those. Learn to be a team player and you'll understand being the guy who deals the killing blow isn't important if you're making your team able to kill their opponents much easier. Only a complete fool, and someone with very little MMO experience thinks DOTs are weak. Get a grip on reality. -

Your intelligence is overwhelming. The only reason you morons think Tracer Missile spam is killing people is because you don't notice the instant-cast abilities that are doing most of the damage. Learn other classes before echoing the same trips you see other people post. And +1 to the "funny, I don't see Tracer Missile on my bars and I'm a Merc" comments. -

Combat logs would have gone a long way to fix this problem as people could have checked to see what killed them rather than assuming it was all tracer. -

Leave Fusion alone...just have them create a new animation for Tracer that isn't incredibly stupid.
