  1. The simplest way to beat a sorc? Roll a Trooper and choose "COMMANDO." My main is a sorc and I can tell you that no class in the game gives me as much problems as Commando's. In open world PvP, a Commando with equivalent gear and using Mako for healing beats me 60% of the time. P.S: Obviously skill matters as well, my post just assumes you're a good player.

    Slippery Slope

I hate to admit it but as a 50-50 player (1 lvl 50 sentinel, 1 lvl 50 sorc) I've seen base camping on BOTH sides. Empire tends to do better camping on Illum but Republic on my server (Ajunta Pall) tends to own Voss - since Neutral bases don't have NPC guards. I ended up switching to my Sentinel during the Voss camping and my sorc during the Illum camping. To all those people who complain - GET OVER IT! The only thing that really really pisses me off is when an operation group waits for my party to get weakened and kill a Champion mob and then kills us and steals the chest drop. That's just pissing in my oatmeal.

    Slippery Slope

They did that again just yesterday. It's annoying because they do it at the Neutral MedCenter so you don't get a chance to use quicktravel or fleet pass and you can't taxi - one Sage just kept spamming AoE so people using quicktravel or the taxi pad arriving died very quick.
  4. Weird, I was able to solo the Tatooine boss at lvl 46. Are you sure that you didn't do more than just stun him? Cause if the boss killed him just because he had one heal interrupted... lol he sucked.
  5. For that guy I just used my "Channel the Force" + "Recklessness" + 2xRelics and he went down easy (I was level 47, sorc). I find that Corruption/Madness is a good way to survive most boss fights, if my enemy is stunned for even 5 seconds I can heal about 80% of my health. Were a sniper by anychance? I tried Sniper but then rerolled operative because I kept getting wasted.
  6. I'm a sorc and I can tell you that sorcs are hardly overpowered. Assassins/Shadows are great at pissing me off in pvp. They burst damage my health forcing me to cast resurgence whenever possible and troopers with good armour tend to do a metric ton of damage before I down them. I think that Smugglers are the only class that I think are disadvantaged. I find that Smugglers/Agents seem to be difficult for some people to play and I've killed a fair amount of Smugglers in PvP who don't seem to understand their own rotation. But even then, that's more like Warlocks from WoW - a good class but requiring SKILL and TACTICS. People who say that a class needs a nerf seem to not have very good skills.
  7. Thank you so much for the suggestions, just a couple of quick questions. Since I haven't put any points towards crushing darkness and lightning strike is pretty tame, what can I use wrath for? since Death Field and Force Storm are AoE I should go for Force Suffusion rather than Haunting Presence right?
  8. So my Sithy is a freshy and I wanted to know what I should do next http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201GGro0dZf00MZfr0Ms.1 As you can you can see I haven't even spent my last skill point yet. So I will outline my playstyle and you can give me pointers. Solo: When facing a mob with (an) elite(s) I generally whirlwind the elite and then finish the small fry. I prefer to use Talos so I can heal him and focus on Overload, Electrocute, Force Storm, Force Lightning and heal myself only when he's too slow. My DPS companion is Revel - I've outfitted him to be on par with my force lightning for DPS. Group: I generally try to solo 2 pc heroics myself and team up for the 4 persons. I've done all the pre-50 FPs and did False Emperor with my Guild, but I don't think I contributed that much (so much repairs costs:() My gears okay but when thinking about the critical chance in the skill tree remember that I currently only have 23% critical and am aiming for 30%. I finished the class quest and Belsavis Bonus series at lvl 49 so I know my gear isn't stuff isn't that bad.
  9. I've been reviewing the Pre-Republic list of advanced civilizations and it basically went like this: Celestials>Rakata>Kwa-Gree>Columi. The Gree and Kwa fought each other and may have been fairly equal. It is interesting to note that both species regressed after the rise and fall of the Infinite Empire. The Kwa become the dinsosaur like Kwi, and the Gree forgot how to use the most advanced of their technology. The Sharu are similar to the Kwa and Gree but aside from their ability to stop hyperspace travel and to remove and add intelligence like child's play, not much is known about them. Perhaps this might be the future of the BIS for swtor: 1.0 = Tionese (Superior Human) 1.5 = Columi 2.0 = Rakata (Normal) 2.5 = Gree/Kwa 3.0 = Rakata (Superior) 3.5 = Celestial (Inferior) 4.0 = Celestial (Normal)
  10. The storylines seem to move at different rates, one class might start before an other but then finish after. I've finished the main class quest for every class except smuggler so here's my take: 1a. The Sith Warrior Act I-II takes place before the Jedi Knight Act II. Darth Baras convinces The Emperor to go into the Dark Heart before Act III for the Jedi Knight, because he is already free during the end of Act III for the Jedi Knight - in fact, this might have happened before Act II for Knight, we don't know. 1b. The end of Act III for the Warrior and Knight are concurrent (you get an email from The Emperor's Hand stating that The Emperor's Voice was killed by a Jedi Knight "while you silenced Darth Baras"). 2a. The end of the Bounty Hunter storyline takes place before the end of the Consular or Trooper storylines because YOU are the reason the Supreme Chancellor is replaced (kill or resign). 3a. On Corellia Watcher 2 comments that the Sith (like Thanaton) are wasting effort on power plays. This makes me think that the SI and IA take place around the same time. 3b. The Jedi Consular finishes on Corellia, by which time the Imperial Agent has already left (otherwise you'd get mention of Corellia being reclaimed by the Republic). 4a. The Trooper and Consular Storylines seem to end around the same time. The new SC is in place, and they just got back from Corellia. So basically, going ONLY by when they END: 1. SW & JK end (according to canon) at the same time. 2. The SI ends after the SW (and therefor the JK). 3. The BH ends before the RT and JC 4. The IA ends between the BH and the RT/JC storylines.
  11. Builders = Rakata Architects = Celestials I think we will get this: [Vanilla] 1. Tionese (Superior Human) 2. Columi 3. Rakata --------------------------- [2.0] 4. Superior Columi 5. Superior Rakata ---------------------------- [3.0] 6. Inferior Celestial 7. Celestial ---------------------------- [4.0] 8. Superior Celestial
  12. The Balmorra H4 Firestar was pretty easy compared to Mandalorian Raiders. But I did a Heroic 4 on Hoth that made The Foundry look easy. Seriously, The Foundry is a level 37 FP and a level 38 Heroic4 was way harder. Is that just because of the one level? Because I wiped ONCE on The Foundry and our group average was level 35. But I wiped twice on Brig Stompers. Heck, Hk-47 was harder to beat than Revan. Clearly Revan has had some muscle atrophy on par with Khem since he's been in stasis for 300 years.
  13. Colicoid was only hard because of the freaking gun turret minigame. Easy fights. In my Red Reaper group we had a level 42, 43, 43 and I was 45. We wiped ONCE because I was the healer and I got knocked over the ledge by one the Elite mob's overload. We killed the first boss in under 3 minutes and didn't even have one person go below 50% health (cake boss). The 2nd Boss (Eradicator) was only hard because he kept switching back and forth between red and blue beams. Unless you are a Tank with with a healing companion or vice versa you wouldn't be able to down him in less than 6 min. The 3rd boss is actually easier than the 2nd boss in terms of Mechanics - WTH? My guild leader has soloed all the Emerging conflicts I-IV except Colicoid Games and he says that Red Reaper is easy to solo with Hard Mode gear on. So yes - Red Reaper is really more of a level 43 FP but labelled as level 45 for some reason. Good catch OP.
  14. Here's my two cents: 1. Flashpoints easy mode Flashpoints CAN be done solo. A) I soloed Black Talon at level 16 and Esseles at Level 15 (minus the bonus boss due to requiring two people). B)I soloed Boarding party at level 42 and The Foundry at level 49 (the trick is to not stand near HK-47s adds because at level 49 they only aggro if you are close or attacking them). C) My guild leader managed to Solo Red Reaper (but he had HardMode gear ) 2. I don't think having 3-5 companions would be fair - companions are about 70% as potent as players but not as smart (Vette and Andronikos are great with ranged DPS, Talos and Quinn are good healers). In KOTOR you got to bring 2 companions with you. I say that seems fair for soloing FPs. 3. You're not supposed to be able to solo endgame FPs like The False Emperor even with HardMode gear - if someone managed that I'd eat my socks (they're thin so I probably could). PEACE OUT
  15. Hi! So I decided to reply to your post since I was actually thinking something similar - frequently when I have a medium drop I roll Greed since as an Inquisitor 3 of my 5 companions require Medium armour. During a recent Boarding Party FP I helped two newbies do the Bonus boss (one of the nastier bonus bosses). Since I was level 43 I didn't get any XP and the credits barely padded my wallet. I did however see a good pair of Purple shoes I could give Talos who I hadn't really been gearing up as much as I should have been. I asked if they were okay with me using Need and they said sure. The way I figure, the most important part is to roll Need BEFORE someone else rolls Greed. If you want to roll Need for your companion then fine, but INFORM THE GROUP BEFORE THEY ROLL GREED. I feel that's proper etiquette, you need to give them the chance to roll Need if they want.
  16. Wow, it sounds like Death Field isn't nearly as useful as Force Storm. Thanks for the pointers, I think maybe I'll keep my current build since its served me well so far.
  17. So I just reached level 50 on my sorcerer (yay) and this is my current build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201GGMoMdZf00MZfr0Ms0z.1 Now I was wondering whether I should respec since I'm a complete hybrid and don't have the full benefit of any skill tree. That being said I was wondering what a better AoE attack is: Force Storm or Death Field. I've used Force Storm for quite a while and found that it works best when being swarmed by Standard Adds so you can cast Static Barrier and Resurgence right before using Force Storm and hopefully kill a couple adds so you can refocus on the boss. That being said sometimes I just use whirlwind to get 3 Standard enemies out of the fight for a minute. What do you think?
