  1. This is the original thread by BcBull "Space Bar was a mistake" SWTOR, a story driven mmo. Why would there be such a quick easy way to skip the story?! I'm just getting into the PvE scene, and every flash point group I enter I see things like, SPACEBAWABA, SPACEBAR!!!!, HIT THE SPACE. So much time was put into the story, and it can be argued that the story is what sets SWTOR apart from all mmorpgs. The game was built around the "4th pillar" (story) of gaming. The change of pace was so refreshing the first week. I was able to slow down and really enjoy the immersion. Space bar should be disabled in flash points for the sake of all players that come in the future. Let them experience the truly epic immersion I had my first couple weeks. Guys there is a simple fix for this. hold it....hold it...... Require all 4 players to hit the spacebar to skip cutscenes. That way if there is a person that hasn't seen it he can simply not hit the spacebar and watch the cutscene. However if all 4 players do not want to watch the cutscene then you can very well skip it. I myself have no problem waiting a whole 1 or 2 minutes to let someone enjoy a cutscene that they have not seen before. I know that in today's "go go go go" mentality and lack of consideration for others it would seem ludicrous to do this, but thats just a sad reflection on our society right now. As i said though i see no problem with letting groups skip a cutscene if they are all in agreement with it , but to force someone to miss a cutscene because someone else has seen it isnt' right.

  3. Ok then if it's not bugged then please explain to me how it is that you can fail to receive objective points for: 1. Scoring goals in Huttball 2. Detonating doors 3. Activating gun turrets 4. Defusing doors 5. Actions that involve you defending the above activities If you don't get objective points for these actions then please tell me what you do get objective points for.
  4. Agree with the Op 100%!!!!! I actually canceled my subscription and in the box where they ask you why you are cancelling i left this following message: MMO's are massive games and there are thousands of things to consider so I dont expect everything to be fixed right away. However by not allowing addons for your game that would allow us (the players and customers) to fix things that will take you forever to fix is sad. The UI in this game is horrible. In this age of MMO RPG's there really is no excuse for your UI to be so limited and non-functioning. MMO players have come to expect more from their UI than you currently allow. There are so many things that would be able to be fixed quickly by dedicated fans of the game untill you could actually do so on your own. Im not comparing SWtOR to WoW, but you could learn something by allowing your customer base to vastly improve your game the way WoW has allowed it's player base to do. There are no gamebreaking issues with addons in WoW. I truly love the Star Wars universe and want this game to succeed but i think you are heading the wrong way when it comes to customer service and providing good, timely service especially when you could let the user base help you. "Help us help you!! Help us help you!!" - Jerry McGuire. Now before people flame about me cancelling my account i plan to continue my subscription when my 30 days run out. However i felt that by actually cancelling my sub and leaving the message that i did, Bioware would actually get the message as im sure these cancellation notes get read by Bioware. If they see enough people cancelling because of this issue im sure they would make it a top priority and realize that this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed posthaste.
  5. Wall of text lol. It's funny when i see people complain about that. I guess i could have just said "Land Speeder Races and Gambling Den's Nao!!!" and just left it at that. Instead i actually had the nerve to discuss in detail and clarify exactly what i wanted implemented. Just goes to show how lazy our society is getting when they can't be bothered to take 3 minutes to read something unless its 3 sentences or less.
  6. I'm going to assume that the objective points awarded to players for completing or accomplishing warzone objectives is bugged. There have been many many times where i've scored a goal or goals in a Huttball match and received zero Objective Points at the end of the match. Same thing goes for the other two warzones. Setting bombs on doors and having them actually detonate, as well as activating Gun Turrets and still no Objective points at the end of the match. This by no means happens ALL the time but it does happen frequently enough to be very irritating i'd say about 30 to 35% of the time if not more.
  7. So Blood and Gore, Mild Language, Sexual Themes, and Violence are ok but a bit of gambling makes people queasy all of the sudden lol? Furthermore i dont think you have to have a rating for gambling when it does not involve real money. Should we not get money rewards for doing quests that ask us to kill things? Does that mean there should be a warning labeled "assasination situations". There is no label for alcohol consumption either and that is done in the game as well. Below the ESRB rating its says "Online interactions not rated by the ESRB" so that pretty much means "Parents Beware, allow play at your own risk". As for the cheating thing there really shouldnt be a way to do that since Bioware controls the servers. I dont think you can refuse to put good game ideas into a game for fear of cheating. Hell people could scream about people cheating when it comes to PvP. Does that mean that we should not have PvP in the game? I understand what your saying to an extent, and i know your just pointing out things that might seem to be a reason as to why its not in the game. Honestly though I dont think that reasoning makes any sense and its not the first time i've heard the argument.
  8. No not at all. A kick animation should'nt take 1 or 2 seconds to play out. If you watch a boxing match or kick boxing when someone throws a punch or a kick it is lighting fast and you can miss it in the blink of an eye. That is from extension to retraction of the blow. There is no reason why you should have to stand there for a second rooted, it almost defeats the purpose of the ability for some people. You can have a fairly lighnting fast kick animation that doesnt require a full second afterwards for you to be able to move your character.
  9. Yeah as i stated before i've played many MMO's: EQ, DAoC, EQ2, Lineage 2 (not for very long), SWG (not for very long), WoW, Warhammer Online and now SWtOR. Don't know why not a single one of them had gambling entertainment in them.
  10. For all the people saying that they dont notice issues with Ability Delay or character responsiveness let me point out an easy example of this for anyone that has a smuggler. Take the ability Dirty Kick. Now simply stand in front of any NPC or PC (in a pvp setting) and use this ability. Now immediately after you press the key for this abillity try to move around behind the target. Surprise! You can't. Your character is stuck there for half a second to a second before you can move. I know this because i have a scoundrel and i constantly use Dirty Kick on opponents to stun them then move around behind them to get a Back Blast off. One of the effects of Dirty Kick is that it stuns the target for 4 seconds. Sweet!!! However its actually only like a 3 second stun because for almost a second you are locked in place and cannot move. Some may say "Oh big deal so you can't move for a second" but in PvP every second counts. This is just a simple example of what Xcore is talking about. Xcore thanks for all your time and efforts to bring this glaring issue to the forefront in the hopes that this will indeed be fixed!!!! Its the effort of people like you that bring clear, concise, substantiated issues and very succinctly present them to the user base as well as to the dev's that leads to the improvement of the games that we love!!!!
  11. It never ceases to amaze me how many MMORPG's dont really give you much to do in the sense of branching out from simply questing/leveling, crafting, PvP, and raiding molds. Where are the "Roleplaying" features? Where are the opportunities to do other things for enjoyment and entertainment in our MMORPG's. Well I have a couple of suggestions for SWtOR to give it more of a roleplaying feeling and give people other things to do than the standard MMO fare. 1) Landspeeder Races!! Why they dont have Landspeeder races in this game baffles me. How awesome would that be to participate in Landspeeder Races against other Players?? Obviously they would have different tracks based on the topography of the different planets. Upgrades would be available for purchase like they are for your spaceships. You could have upgrades for faster top end speed vs faster/smoother shifting engines, upgrades on shields to be able to take more bumping and positioning damage from other racers without losing too mcuh speed/control vs say a higher jumping height for your speeder. Notice I pit the upgrades as either or so that not everyone would have identical Landspeeders. Either that or you could have X number of upgrades available and say that you can only have 50% of them at any one time etc. Of course there should be multiple upgrades but unlike the spaceships you should be limited on how many upgrades you can have at a time so that you would have to choose the ones that best fit your racing style. There could be different circuits based on lvl/type of landspeeder that you currently own so that lower lvl chars with the cheaper Landspeeders could compete against similar competition. These are just some of my ideas, im sure there are other ideas as to the specifics of the Landspeeder Races and Bioware can do the fleshing out of how exactly they would want it to work. Of course your skill as a driver/pilot should be the defining factor between winning and losing. Imagine earning fame and renown as the best or one of the best Landspeeder Racers on your server??? 2. Why do MMO's never have games of skill and chance in their games?? Whats wrong with having gambling den's in MMORPG's?? How awesome would that be to be able to walk into a seedy cantina on Tatoonie with your smuggler and enter into a game of ??? (enter some Star Wars appropriate gambling/card game) with some credits on the line to make things interesting?? Add some flavor and flare to the game. Hopefully there would be multiple games of chance to choose from as everyone has different tastes and skill sets. Some people might come up with some lame pretext of it would imbalance the game economy, I say hogwash. For money to be won, money has to be wagered. Some one wins a lot of credits, someone or some people have to lose credits. Its not entering new credits into the economy out of thin air, it's simply a shifting of current credits from one place to another, just like buying crafted goods shifts money from buyers to sellers. These two additions would make SWtOR much more like an alternate reality than just the current standard models that just about every MMORPG i've ever played seem to fall into right now. I've been wondering for years now why there haven't been casino type establishments in MMO's for years and I've often discussed this with friends. After all, these are supposed to be "Roleplaying" games right??? Sorry if this wall of text turns some people off but some things cant be discussed in 4 lines of text. Please give some feedback on these ideas, and again I'm not arguing the finer points of how to implement these ideas, they were just suggestions to give every one an idea of what it could be like. As I said it would be up to Bioware as to the details. I dont pretend to believe that i'm so ingenious as to be the only person to think of either of these ideas. However I did want these ideas to be posted in the forums to hopefully lead to thoughtfull discussion and even to perhaps catch the eye of the developers to think on these things if they haven't already done so (which it is very possible that they may already have).
  12. Um do you PvP? Because what you describe may be ok when you are doing static PVE content where you are not constanlty on the move and your target is not constantly moving. When PvPing i can't sit there in one spot with my eyes glued to my hotbars to see if an abilitily is off cooldown by having to check my bars when the global cool down is moving and trying to judge the speed that its moving at as you claim. Further more this method that you are speaking of sounds ok if your focusing on only one ability but multiply that by several abilities and I have to say that i think what your saying is utterly laughable. Maybe for your play style it doesn't effect you but for people that have a dynamic playstyle especially in pvp need a responsive, effective cool down notification system that you can quickly read and process to make quick fast ability choices. Not one where you have to sit there and debate yourself as to whether an ability is off cool down or not becasue you see an ability that LOOKS like its off cool down when its not.
  13. Obviously you dont pvp much, becasue in an environment where a second or 2 or even half a second can make or break you this UI change is flat out unacceptable. It's not that people cant see the cool down line moving down your icon. The problem, which has been stated repeatedly and which people cant seem to read and or comprehend what they read, ist that on many ablilities that have cool downs over 10 or 12 seconds when the ability is nearing the end of cooldown there is only a tiny, thin sliver of cool down line left that is almost impossible to see without having to really stare at it. Depending on the length of the cool down on your spell that near invisible last little bit of line left can sit there for 2 to 10 seconds. Now when your in pvp, and even pve situations where timing is vital (like for tank defensive cooldowns) and every second is precious this is a very frustrating and needless issue. When you spend precious seconds trying to activate an ability that is still on cool down but you cant tell it sucks because you could have spent that time activating something else. Again this may sound trivial but if you pvp a lot, or tank a lot then you'd know just how bad this is. Please at least change it back to the way it was before untill you can fix it properlyl. Right now the cooldown notification system is garbage.
  14. Again is somewhat of a workaround for noise issues but that does not address the whole isssue. The issue is having vent come through headset and game sounds coming through speakers. While your solution makes the issue somewhat better it is only a workaround and not a complete solution. I dont want to have to push a button to mute people everytime i need to hear something in game or vice versa. It's not jsut an issue of other people hearing background noise when i speak , its an issue when others are talking when you are trying to listen to the game. Yes, Ferroz came up with a mute for Vent to again "Workaround" that and if thats the best it can get then that's what I will do. Again please read and comprehend what is being discussed.
  15. FYI please dont take this as im bashing SWtOR and trying to compare it to WoW becasue im not. I enjoy this game and i want to continue enjoying this game. I only bring up WoW beacuse the solution to the issue that im having does exist because i've used it in that particular game. I'm alos not saying that this is an issue exclusive to only SWtOR as i've seen poeple discuss this issue about other games as well. All i do know is that there is a solution and Blizzard has implemented it to the pleasure of their customers.
  16. I can most assuredly tell you that it did work in WoW without a doubt. I had no problems what so ever with having vent through headphones only and game sounds through the speaker, so yes it is possible. Additionally i read comments about splitting front and rear sound paths to do this through pc options but it doesnt work for me but has worked for others. Here is a link to one such discussion http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/55642-6-splitting-audio-headset-speakers
  17. Thanks Ferroz for the info. I guess thats the best i can get right now but again it would be nice to be able to have game sounds through speakers, and vent sounds through headset. I played all the way through WoW that way so i know that it is possible and im not crazy.
  18. Unfortuneately Cirindi this does not work for me, but thanks for the suggestion. For whatever reason i cant get a seperation between headset and speakers no matter what options i try. Its either one or the other. If I go to control panel and set speakers as default it will over-ride my headphones. If i start up star wars without headphones pluggede in , log into the game then go back and get Vent fired up , vent will through my speakers, and when i go to the vent options to pick my headphones as the output device it will also make the game sounds come through my headphones. For some reason the vent options overide my computer options and vice versa. Instead of the Vent options being and independant setting inside itself it actually changes setting for everything. Not sure why this is happening and there fore would love to hear from people having the same issue.
  19. Its flippant, morons like you that don't read and comprehend what you read that makes forums the gutter that it turns out to be 90% of the time. To those that actually offered constructive suggestions i thank you for your time, but to idiots like this guy why do you bother posting. If you weren't so dimwitted that you cant understand what you read check my post again. I offered a solution to the problem that would "Fix it".
  20. I've tried everything from going into realtek audio settings, trying several different headsets, trying every configuration in Vent to get only Vent sounds through headset to no avail. I've googled this issue and tried several different work arounds and none of them simply work. This option was in WoW for a reason so i again it shouldnt be a prob to implement it here. If others have this issue please let me know so i know its not just me, i've had friends that have had the same issue. If you DON'T have this issue im happy for you , but that does not resolve MY issue. While im at it i dont claim to be a computer expert, i do know how to google things and follow instructions and as i've said i've looked up and read several different topics about this to no avail. Again Blizzard must have put this option in for a reason, the reason being that obviously many people were having the same issues as I am or they wouldnt have taken the time to put that featuer in.
  21. I've spent the last 10 to 15 minutes trying to get only vent sounds through my headset so that all other sounds will come through desktop speakers and i cant get it to work. Also if this is supposed to work this way if you set it up right, and I believe those of you that say you have done it that way, there must be an issue somewhere because why then would Blizzard but that option into their sounds options menu?? I've had this issue before with other games which is why i loved the fact that Blizzard put that option into their game.
  22. I have my speakers set to default in my sound control panel, and i also have my headset selected for outbound and inbound options in Vent setting but it does not work. Maybe im missing something here so any info would be much appreciated.
  23. Sorry but that is not a solution. I dont have dual monitors and I shouldnt have to have dual monitors when there is a very simple fix without the expense and headache of having dual monitors. Additionally I dont want to have to window out every time I need to reduce sound in one program or the other and even if i were willing to do this when you window out all game sound is cutoff and when you window back into the game it takes a few seconds to load up again. If this was a sincere reply on your part please dont take my response negatively, I'm just saying that it is not a practical solution.
  24. Firt off im not here to say WoW is better than SWtOR or that SWtOR is better than WoW. This is simply a request for an option that i think is much needed in this game. In WoW's sound options you had the option to choose a default setting for your sound output for the game. What this did was allow your game sounds to always come out of your speakers regardless of whether you had a headset plugged in for using Vent (Ventrillo). This allowed you to hear game sounds as clearly as you needed to while also allowing you to hear your friends through vent without one or the other drowning each other out. This is important because I, and I imagine many others, generally play MMO's with a group of friends and we like to hang out in vent as we play as well as Vent being a much needed way to communicate quickly when doing things like PvP and group/raid content. An option like this is even more important in a game like SWtOR because there are so many cutscenes with dialogue in the game that it is very frustrating when you are using a headset and Vent and can't hear anything because game sounds and vent are coming through the same source. Also to a lesser degree sometimes you cant hear your friends due to game noise. Now some may say you dont need to hear game sounds anyway just turn the game volume down and I will respond by saying I actually like to hear game sounds when im playing. If you don't thats fine everyone is different. I dont think it's that much to ask this option to be implemented in a game, as i said before, that is so cutscene heavy and where the music of the game is actually enjoyable for me as well as adding mood and ambiance to the game. I know there are lots of requests for this or that to be added to the game but i think this is a pretty basic and vital option. If you agree post a comment so that we can try to get the devs to implement this option. I put this in General Discussion because i did'nt see a Suggestions forum.
