  1. You have to understand, many people still have that bitter taste of ***** in their mouths from the WoW arena system where it was the only viable means of PvP gear progression. And thus the word "Arena" comes with some resentment. Small scale group-PvP just for it's own sake, or for maybe some small cosmetic rewards, would be alright. But the sad truth is that people would not be content with just that. And i'd much rather the Devs focus on something else to bring in that variety. Why copy an old, not that good of a system? And besides, an 8v8 premade rated Huttball is pretty darn close to an arena. How about the Devs bring new similar maps in for the rated warzones than succumb to the Arena system.
  2. Obviously i was not talking about such players?.. Nor was i implying that everyone would be one. No, it was merely an observation of sorts. This isn't the first thread about Arenas, and it sure won't be the last. My point somewhat being that people honking the arena horn seem to genuinely think that it's the best thing ever, is absolutely needed for any sort of "real" PvP to work and is the ultimate measure of anything and everything. Which, as said, is both amusing and terrifying.
  3. It's sort of amusing.. and terrifying watching the WoW-babby generation at work. People who's first ever MMO was WoW and have gobbled up whatever Blizzard shat on the plate. And thus they can only think within of the confines of what WoW had in it. Happened with WAR a few years back. During the beta everyone was doing the ORvR castle sieging. Then launch happened, WoW-babbies flocked in and the only thing that was played were Battlegrounds. Because that's the only thing those players had experienced and for them it had to be the only form of PvP to exist. Open world PvP? What is that word?.. Anyway, seeing the PvP forums reminds me of this phenomenon once again. The PvP needs some tweaking, so naturally what comes in mind for the WoW-babby? Arenas of course! They would solve everything. They were the sole form of high-end PvP in WoW, so it must be the only way, the correct way, the true way! How could it not be? Tom Chilton said it was. So in any case, Rated Warzones are coming which should substitute nicely for those competitive needs. And when looking for the proverbial enema that the PvP in SWToR needs, the rancid bottle of piss that is the arena system is the last thing we should be using.
  4. Not 100% sure, but i believe that is one of the Heavy Social Sets that were dropped from the game in beta.
  5. To people spouting about Boba Fett, while true that he used a rifle in the movies, in numerous comics he is however often times using a single pistol. And you can't have one over the other. If we got rifles, then agents would have to get Pistols. And same for Troopers.. except over at the republic side Smugglers would have to get access to assault cannons aswell. It would just create un-necessary gear-spread and problems. Pistols are fine.
  6. Random world drops off of sufficient level mobs. Best bet in trying to farm the stuff is to do Voss elite quests. I got the belt and bracers by doing that one cave quests a few times with a friend.
  7. The RD-12A Chestguard is a random BoE world drop that most commonly drops from lvl12-14 Champion NPCs.
  8. As said, on the move. It does fairly good damage, just is a bit ammo intensive. I mainly use it to finish off runners or if i otherwise absolutely must do some immediate damage on the move. Full Auto does fantastic damage as Gunnery. But even specced otherwise it has some solid ranged damage, just don't use it when you're being focused. Sticky Grenade offers great "delayed burst" that you can chain together with other abilities (Like HIB or GR) to deal some major burst damage. It does not. Every class has a PvE-only ability. It's there to help tank-classes or other low-damage specs in clearing PvE. It's fairly useless for the Commando, but on my Vanguard i use it in solo-PvE often.
  9. While the topic is about using SCC in DPS, i just have to touch this. Muzzle fluting + SCC is very, very good in PvP as a hybrid Medic/Gunnery. There are times when you're low on cells, and having the ability to do free damage while your cells regenerate is very effective.
  10. Burnout is our execute, we don't need a burst ability.
  11. 3 Skillpoints completely wasted and 5 spent on lackluster skills that don't do anything for DPS? No thanks.
  12. If you want to have a bit more "oomph" with Ion Cell, go with the 21/2/18 spec. Going full AS with Ion Cell would gimp your DPS too much and waste many skillpoints.
  13. And on another thing, why the hell am i seeing "lvl22" and "Hybrid" used in the same sentence? You have 13 skill points at lvl22, not enough to make a "hybrid" of any sort. Least of all a successful one. Seems OP deleted his Commando, i think that is for the best. If you can't grasp even the very basics of an AC, don't roll one. Now i doubt the OP will return to this thread, but for future reference.. The Commando/Mercenary AC is a very effective soloing machine. It only really lacks a proper interrupt, but aside from that, if you have any sorts of trouble then check your; - Gear and Companions gear - Skillspec - Ability rotation - Personal skill Before crying like a total incompetent idiot.
  14. The whole set is a random world drop. It's one of the three completely full BoE orange sets each class has, spread around the leveling curve. TD-17A Colossus is the level 45-50 one. The other two are RD-17A Phalanx set that is around lvl35-40, and TD-17A Talon that is 10-15. Your best bet in gathering the Colossus set is to do lvl50 heroic dailies and watching the GTN closely.
