You leave a game based on class nerfs, logic fail.
-
I think it should be quite obvious that that 11gb download is essentially redownloading the game so that you will have one install for live and one for pts

The one thing I cant stand about this games performance is how it manages data fetching. When I'm running to a new part of fleet or spinning my camera my fps goes down to 30 while it's loading everyone in. Once everyone has loaded then my fps goes back up to 60-100 so it's not a limitation by my cpu. SWTOR really should just load nearby characters like wow/lotro does where they dont show on screen until their data has been fully loaded. I'm tempted to upgrade to 8gb RAM just to get the diskcachearena into a ramdisk

Will SWTOR be able to compete with upcoming MMOs?
Arkanovi replied to SaerethDL's topic in General Discussion
I have a PhD in theoretical psychology and astrophysical sports science and to me it sounds like you realise TERA is bad too, you're hoping people will respond to this thread saying otherwise and validating your reason to move to that game. My question is, why not just play SWTOR? -
I would say that's fine, if you can afford more then try for a i5 2400 (it's not much slower at all than a i5 2500k at stock). Nothing wrong with ASRock specifically, I have a z68 extreme 4 gen 3 and it's amazing, the mosfet cooling and 8+4phases really help with overclocking stability. I had my i5 2500K at 4.5ghz within 5 minutes of installation

I wouldn't waste money on that. The processor is awful (1mb l2 cache and 65TDP is just asking for poor performance, those processors are much slower than the phenom dual cores) and I've never even heard of that graphics card and I'm betting the motherboard and power supply are low quality. I'd definitely recommend saving up an extra $300 or so and getting a real gaming pc. Edit: I'm not being snobby btw, I'm a low budget gamer too, but you will regret buying that since it wont last very long with todays games at all. A few more hundred like I said and you'll be fine for a few years. Edit 2: It's not even a discrete graphics card, definitely DONT get that, I have no idea how they can call that a gaming pc at all. I'd aim no lower than an i3 sandybridge, a nvidia 460 (not SE) and 4gb ram, and dont go cheap on the power supply, a corsair is very nice and reliable. A cheapy powersupply can destroy your entire hardware if it decides to die, and the voltage output on them are very inconsistent, regardless of it's wattage.

You're joking right?
-
I watched it, found it boring. But I find BBT to be a load of rubbish anyway, even as a physics student myself the "inside" science geek jokes aren't enough to sit through 25minutes of laugh tracks

My sub ended on the 29th last month, after watching this summit (for admittedly most of the day) I'm actually tempted to resub right now, was very impressed.
-
Awww no I missed them talking about the high resolution textures, what did they say???? Edit : nvm, just rewatched trailer, nice work bioware, looking forward to the trailer being posted in HD
-
Nice trailer, looking forward to it, will definitely be resubbing when that comes out (little dissapointed it wont be until "early April" though). I'm hoping they mention the high resolution textures

is the helm moddable?
-
Going to be resubbing tomorrow and will be starting up an assassin, I've been looking on google for some of the armour pieces I can expect to wear and saw this http://torwars.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Sith-Inquisitor-on-Dromund-Kaas.jpg It reminds me of the dragon priest masks in skyrim - I love it! Anyone know what the helm is called and where do you get it?
-
I did the same last week, upgraded from a phenom II x4 955 ( oc'd to 4ghz) to an i5 2500K and it does run this game very well, it's still bad coding on biowares part though, it just takes the brute strength of the sandybridges to make up for the poor optimization

Disappointed by the size of the "fat" female option.
Arkanovi replied to Gimpulse's topic in General Discussion
The size 4 female in this game is just right, exercise and stop eating 4 doughnuts in the evening and you can rp as size 4 I wish you luck! -
GeForce GTX 580 or HD Radeon 7970?
Arkanovi replied to XxMetalMartyrxX's topic in General Discussion
I'd actually recommend the 7950, it beats 580 in performance and price - and performance will only increase with future drivers. If you want to go to nvidia, you should wait for their 6xx series to be released first -
I did notice a boost - I never drop below 30fps steady in fleet now. However - I still think this game needs a lot of performance optimization for the crowded areas. If you guys have played Skyrim recently you'll know how optimization makes a big difference. In a certain spot in whiterun my fps would drop to 25fps no matter what settings I chose - and gpu usage would go down to around 30%, since the optimizations in patch 1.4 for skyrim though my fps never drops below 60. If Bioware can optimize this games resource management in a similiar way I'll be very happy

Me : http://imageshack.us/f/849/sfw4f.jpg/ Taken after a 9pm-5am physics study session... therefore palefaced expressionless zombie I'm actually 22, though I look about 12 in that for some reason

EA Stock Surges After SWTOR Subscriber Numbers Reveal
Arkanovi replied to Abriael's topic in General Discussion
That's actually a very good idea -
Official: Over 1.7 million active subs, 2 + mil sold
Arkanovi replied to Improv-'s topic in General Discussion
No, warhammer lost a LOT of players in the first month. If you played that game at release you would know that -
Are You Feeling "Burned Out" by SWTOR?

Are You Feeling "Burned Out" by SWTOR?
Arkanovi replied to StrikeOfLight's topic in General Discussion
Ah that sucks, bad times. Personally for me I'm getting more hooked than I was at release. I have both the privilege and curse of having limited play time and so the game still feels extremely fresh to me. This is the first mmo that I've stayed subscribed for more than a month after starting the game since daoc in 2004. Maybe you should take a week off the game and come back after? -
Either a AMD 6770 (or 5770 - exactly the same card just renamed) or a 6850 if you can find it for under £100. The 6850 is a lot faster than the 6770 and can match performance of a 6870 when overclocked

Whilst fps is still relatively unnacceptable in fleets, my fps there has increased 5-10fps today, I don't know how it's changed as I havent seen mention of performance tweaks in the patch...but something is working better
