  1. Did you miss the dev post saying quite clearly that there is no remote-rendering?
  2. I really do hope 1.2 sorts this out, High resolution (cut-scene equivalent) for the nearest 10-15 people for example and I'll be right back to this game. As it stands now however, whilst I find the game fun to play the graphics just hit me hard. A lot of enjoyment I get from MMOs is the stat and visual progression of my character, as well as being able to appreciate the world we play in. Sadly, in swtor, the textures of armour seem to get worse and worse as you progess through to higher level
  3. And mine is that you're just mad at the realisation your laptop is just outdated and can't handle large volumes of characters
  4. You really think we can't expect 1.2 until April/May? look at the frequency of patches so far, in fact I think I even saw QQ threads about that. I am aware of EA's Fiscal year, in this case however I think it's quite clear they mean calandar year
  5. For most of the thread you've been treating it as gospel though, not a question on your part. I don't think you're an idiot, I just don't think you're thinking logically on this issue. I'm doing a MSc in Physics by the way, nice to meet you ~ Also, where do you get the 10fps? If it's in pvp and fleets, well, from your laptop specs that can be expected, a 9800M would only just meet the minimum requirements, and a 2.2ghz celeron processor is slow
  6. If you have even read my responses in this thread you'd know I am one of the people hating on the low textures right now. But to jump to some paranoid theory about DRM without any objective evidence is just embarassing
  7. So you automatically assume "remote-rendering"? A term I expect you haven't even heard of until today
  8. I'm somewhat hopeful they will be, otherwise this would require textures that are half-way between what we have now and the cutscene versions.
  9. Thank you for the work you have done regarding this Stephen. I have a question, by greater visual fidelity to our characters are you saying that we can expect the cutscene quality graphics on our own characters during normal gameplay?
  10. Also, I love how that mental theory has gone form pure conjecture to undeniable fact. It's like people who see a strange light in the sky....no idea what that is, hmm, can't be a plane....it must be an alien spacecraft who have undergone faster-than-light travel to visit us!!
  11. I hate this low-res texture issue as much as you guys and I'm most likely not resubbing for a while until a fix is made (even a self + companion option would suffice for me). But let's stay logical guys, the idea of a remote-rendering method for a GAME with a high volume of people is just ludicrous, that Stanford model is not applicable to gaming environments.
  12. Also Stephen, I am studying a Masters in Physics and Astrophysics, and intend on applying for a PhD in Quantum Dot applications to computing. With this in mind, if you are using a quantum computer to run game servers, I hope you aren't directly observing them or their quantum behaviour will stop.
  13. Ah well that's a huge shame, I won't be resuming my subscription after this month, graphics are an important part of PC gaming for me. This game has great gameplay and story, but the low-res textures kills it for me, I'd hate to know what it feels like at high level when your armour sets just look washed out. Bioware, good luck with the game.
  14. Looking at those comparison screenshots above - I'll be very happy when those high res textures are working, right now I'm not playing too much as the low resolution textures do get to me. Everything else in this game I love so far, and most bugs I'm concerned with have already been identified and fixes are incoming. Bioware employees must have the patience of a saint to deal with some of you guys, lots of posts in this forum are just absolutely painful to read.
  15. As a fellow scientist (I hope you don't mean psychology), what processor and GPU do you have? 12GB ram and 3TB HDD won't do much towards performance over 4gb of ram in swtor
  16. Indeed, though it makes me feel smug as a Physics/Astrophysics student
