  1. General Posting Format: 1. Name 2. Guild 3. Class (for Galactic Starfighter, this is an optional category, since ship changes are permissible during matches) 4. Map 5. Stat Category 6. Screenshot All information below is subject to change and additions at any time, and will be bolded in red. Updates and additions will be pointed out in a new post by myself with each change. Rules Regarding the Leaderboard 1. Only post screenshots of yourself, unless you have permission from the record holder to post it. If posting for someone else, please clearly state so. Also, if posting for your alts that you do not have listed in your forum signature, please label such characters as alts. Makes my life easier. 2. Do not post screenshots of pre 2.0 games (before Summer 2013). 3. Do not post screenshots of pre-55 level games. This is to keep all records on the same ground so that they are comparable. 4. Be sure the stat you are entering for is clearly displayed (though that should be obvious ), and if using 1 screenshot for multiple entries, please specify each category you are entering for. Also make sure that entries for the two Hybrid categories meet the 360k/360k requirement. For Arena matches, use the stats in the Overall tab, not the individual Round tabs. Your entry will not be accepted if using a Round tab. 5. Please try to show both teams in your screenshot (the All tab, not the Allies or Enemies tabs). This is a guideline more than a rule, but will be strictly enforced in the event there is serious allegations of fraud. Please also try not to crop your screenshots. I double check which maps entries are on, and I can't see the locale if you crop down to exactly the scoreboard. 6. If you have allegations of fixed games or altered screenshots please contact me directly by in game whisper, or in game mail (to Amber-may), or private message on these forums. Please keep such information and posts out of this thread so we can keep it clean and readable. 7. Each category can only have a character listed once and new entries for a character means the old entry is replaced. Players can be represented multiple times in a same category, as long as the two entries are for different classes (including mirrors). For additional clarification, this also means that, for example, a 1.2mil post on your juggernaut (or any other imp class), then a 1.3mil post on your guardian (or any other pub class respectively) will be treated as the same character (cause mirror classes), and the first entry will be replaced. 8. Entries with dead links to screenshots are subject to removal at my discretion. 9. If you are posting for the ranked Highest Team Queue Rating, please see the Ranked 4v4 Team Queue Rating Submissions section just below the New Additions section. For Arena Rating entries linked to BioWare's leaderboard on this site, you must re-enter your rating if you want it to be updated after it's initial posting. 10. The most important rule! I am the benevolent dictator, my will is law. All decisions concerning this leaderboard will ultimately be made by me. However, I'm am very open to criticisms and suggestions, so don't feel like you have no say. <3 I'm just the dictator cause no one else besides BioWare can edit my posts. Caveats 1. This thread is primarily for entertainment purposes. This is not the Olympics, so we don't need everyone's elitist attitudes here. 2. The players who make a category are clearly good at that category, or they wouldn't be there, regardless of what class they are. Let's keep class bashing to a minimum. See Caveat #1. 3. Every entry on this list requires a 'Perfect Storm' scenario. Yes, the entries, and by extension the players, are exceptional. But this does not necessarily mean they're the best overall players. This list commends players for being in the right warzone at the right time with good player skill. It does not commend them for being God's Greatest Gift to PvP. So please no player bashing. See Caveats #1 and #2. 4. "But he's in the super-mega-ultra guild and/or was in a premade for that screenshot. Fraaaaud!" Again, see Caveats #1 and #3. This thread is for fun. Playing with friends is fun. Why would we penalize players for having fun with their $15 per month? See Rule #5 above if you have real allegations of fraud. 5. Remember to have fun! New Additions! 1. Arena stats for any and all 4v4 matches. The same categories (mostly) you know and love, now with a separate arena-only leaderboard. Did you get a wowzers number in any 4v4, be it ranked or non-ranked? Team or solo? Post it! 2. Total Deaths category for 8v8 Warzones! A stat purely for the lulz and entertainment of the server. After all, this whole thread is purely for the lulz and if you didn't know that, shame on you! 3. Honorable Mentions. This is a brand new stand-alone category that will only include screenshots of the truly odd or impressive, that didn't (or couldn't) otherwise make the cut in the other categories. 4. Hybrid Heals, and Hybrid Tank categories. These categories require 360k+ damage, in addition to either 360k+ healing or 360k+ protection. 5. Galactic Starfighter! This thread is now also the place to post the shenanigans you get into while blowing ships into scrap metal (and hopefully avoiding a similar fate yourself). It comes all expenses paid with a full range of categories all ready to go! What exactly is the Honorable Mentions category? I'm glad you asked, random Ebon Hawker! This new category will contain screenshots chosen exclusively by myself. Yes, that's right, like a dictatorship, only with the potential to be a lot more amusing. The idea is thus: Much like how the PvE DPS Leaderboard thread accepts posts that don't make the list, you, the poster, can feel free to post up screenshots you think are either unbelievably awesome, extremely weird or odd, or otherwise especially noteworthy. No guarantees it'll make the list, but it'll be in the thread for lulz even if it doesn't! Examples include, maybe a 5v8, where the 5 won! Anybody remember the negative healing screenies from the 2.0 records? Stuff like that. Entertain us! Just no screenshots with bashing or crazy hate/trash talking. Let's keep this drama free. Ranked 4v4 Team Queue Rating Submissions In order to keep this particular category clean and easy to read, there are some regulations I'd like to impose for this category alone: 1. Only post the highest rating for this category among the team members. IE, Billy has 2091, Bob has 2092. Use Bob's. Unless you really want to post Billy's rating, for some reason. I mean, I guess nothing's stopping you from posting a lower number. 2. Please make a team name. It can even be as simple as <Imperial Guild's 2nd String> if you wish. Or it can be super creative. You decide! 3. Include a list of the primary members of your team. IE, the regulars. The 2 or 3 or 4 players who make the core group. 4. Include the classes each of the core members play. 5. If there is a majority representation of a guild, feel free to include the guild name. You are not required to, however. 6. In addition to providing Bob's rating, you'll need a screenshot of his rating pane (the one with the current and highest ratings, wins, losses, and the rest of the warzone stats that you view when going to queue for warzones). To recap, an example post and entry using my characters: Team Queue Rating 1. Rating - 1794 2. Team Name - Team Teltae! 3. Core Members - Amber-may, Amberlance, Sirulea, Prissy 4. 2. Welcome to The Ebon Hawk's new PvP Server Leaderboard thread, version 2.4+! Below is a list of the biggest, baddest PvPers and starfighter pilots on the server. Do you have what it takes to make it to the top? If so, please be sure to read the information in this thread's second post before jumping into the fray and listing your accomplishments. 3. At least for myself, players are very noticeable. Gear or no. Especially with this new bolster system. Sure, you're not going to be setting any PvP stat records without full augments and expertise cap, but good players or potentially good players will stand out during play, even if they look mediocre on the scoreboard. (Protip: the scoreboard tells you little to no important information about a player's skill and contribution.) For example, two scenarios. First, a sniper of any spec. I notice bum snipers, who hit a PvE attack rotation all match long to minimal effect. That's bad. I also notice great snipers, who utilize all their abilities at roughly the correct times, like the Leg Shot root, the Shatter Shot healing debuff, their AoE team damage reduction, CC, burst applied appropriately. I notice those things, even if they don't end up working out very well, like a burst phase that started well, but the tank comes in and saves the victim. Ain't the sniper's fault, he still did what he was supposed to. That's what I see. Second scenario is any stealther. The primary difference between a good stealther and a bad stealther is in how they utilize their stealth. Stealth doesn't just give you invisibility. Stealth wielded well is a weapon in its own right. I notice the stealthers who wield fear and toy with the minds of the enemy. The ones who wait to attack someone when there's a perfect opportunity or when the enemy least expects it, or they incapacitate and maul a separate target to force the enemy healer to choose who to heal. For either operative or assassin, I notice if they use their vanish with a wide range of uses, from defensive retreat, to a brief vanish to restart their burst rotation, to a quick vanish to switch targets, vanishing to simply make the enemy worry where you've gone, or just simply vanishing to force the enemy to drop target and allow your healer to top you off. Does the operative occasionally fire off a clutch heal? Does the assassin use taunts on priority DPS? Sure, the stealther is rarely going to put up any numbers that look competitive. For a number of reasons including the simple fact most are single target DPS, and perfect setup requires skulking around out of combat longer than other classes, and also because oftentimes we're defending the off node. xD But the low numbers don't mean they can't be brilliant players. The above are all things I can see and evaluate during the match's gameplay. I don't need no scoreboard to tell me they're worth recruiting. The evidence was during the match when they did X thing awesome even without gear or clinching kills. Sure, most those things are expected. But they're expected as standard to the uber leet players. Newer players who don't quite have the muscle memory yet to be able to focus more on decisions and awareness show gleams of greatness when they do things the elites have made second nature. This is something that... I dunno. I guess my opinion is split on this one. On the one hand, I'm a firm proponent and believer that experimenting and working through your class's talent trees and general ability rotations and whatnot on your own grants you a far greater understanding of that class and its nuances. Using a particular talent, only to discover it's not that great gives you perspective. "Oh, this talent's not very good, but it is very applicable to X and Y situations." That's knowing the depth of your class. Just having someone tell you "Oh, that talent's not very good, it only works in a couple situations," doesn't explain to you why or how it does or doesn't work. The end result may be the same, but the depth of your understanding is limited. On the other hand, it can be nice to come in, and have some things already done for you, like min-maxing gear. Especially since some of us have been playing for 2 years, and playing catch up without help is kind of a drag. I dunno... The real problem with asking for help (particularly with questions involving min-maxing and rotational stuffles, even though rotations in PvP are practically non-existant xD ) is finding the right people to answer. Whispers probably work best, or the forums to find out who to whisper? I dunno... Sorry I'm not much help on this one. I can probably point people to a player who would know the answers. Hrm... My posts always get long, don't they? :s
  4. zomg! I'm not the only one who understands it's all a math problem based on the number 8?!?!?! :D I could go on and on and on for daaaaaays about how important counting is and how to do it and keep track of it. xD
  5. I can't speak for the PvP guilds around, but my guess is most of them enjoy playing well (ie winning) with others that play well. They're watching, believe me. I know I'm always watching. I pop into warzones, see all the names, and immediately create a sort of mental priority list; that player always does well, he's good, he's awful, he does decent just needs practice, he gets it but doesn't play it, and I've not seen that one. The problem is the vast majority of players with good potential are already guilded in some fashion. If those guys want a new guild, they have to either drop the tag, or make it clear to the guild they're interested in joining that they looking, and not tied down. Most of the unguildeds floating around are... not exactly impressive, generally speaking (from the perspective of a PvP guild, mind you!). Or they don't want to be guilded. I'm still convinced that a lot of the work that the unguilded's need, or other 'potentials' (lul Matrix reference) need, is just some basic: figure out the nuances of your class, read up on other classes, and just plain old spend a lot of time playing till it becomes second nature. If there are people willing to essentially baby along players as they put in the hours, go for it! But if this is to be a more broadly focused thing, it might need a more specific goal. Maybe a Who exactly are we reaching to? And what exactly are we doing? Nurturing talent through the fires of PvP, or babying players who don't quite make the cut cause they haven't the hours put in? Just my scrambled, rambling thoughts this morning, before the coffee kicked in. I'm sure I said something way off topic in there but oh well! I'll fix it later this afternoon, lol. xP
  6. I'm gonna echo SatedBuffulo on this. Most (if not all) of us scary scary PvPers love talking about PvP. But we're not just going to talk to thin air, cause... that's silly and not very effective. As always, I am not in a PvP guild (obviously). However, all my alts are listed VVVVVVVVVVV down there, and if you see me on, I'm almost always willing to talk about le epic PvPz.
  7. So I could've gotten my name back on my server, but because the damn juggernaut is level 32, it's a no go??? ... K. Thanks for nothing. I mean, it's not like frickin', you coulda warned us about the name priority during the forced transfers period. Otherwise I would've kept my main on my original server to secure it. Instead of losing it to a bunch of inactives like EVERYONE who voluntarily transferred did.
  8. Having relooked over both the vanguard and sorc answers, I don't really feel it changed my opinion on anything. I'm still seeing sorcs and vanguards in warzones beating the **** out of me when played well, tank vanguards in PvP perform just fine, and sorcs in general still have plenty of survivability when they use their full kit. Bubble, barrier, force slow, stun, whirlwind, knockback, speed, hell even force lightning's slow and the immunity to interrupts that the alacrity ability gives. Hell, looking at my merc, if I'm DPS, I got shield, overload, stun, mezz, knockback, hydraulic overrides, aaand... uhm... what, instant cast on 2 min CD? Couple of things in the trees? Not any better than the sorc. And if you really think about it, it's not that the sorc really needs that much a buff (sure, few QoL things, but who doesn't need those? ), but the mara and sniper need a bit of a reduction in the defensive CD department. Which I think they alluded to recently, yes? Edit: also what kandel said. the reps for sorc and vanguard were kinda... bad. xP
  9. Speaking as sort of a middle man to all the 'old drama,' it's not about the history for those still worked up about it, it's the lingering and petty bitterness towards a group of players just cause they can be bitter. Also, just as a sort of teasing, lulzy observation. The timing is waaaay too good here. Theron comes back just in time to ***** about Game Genie again. Edit: herpaderp, shout out thread, I should do one. Uuuhh... Hrm, shoutout to all the folks reenacting the bubblestun days! Who keep dying horribly despite their trashy relic bug. ^.^ You guys keep things fun with many lolz. Ah, good times, goooood times... :3
  10. I dunno. I think my comparison to the relic being like the old hybrid sorc bubble stun cluster **** was pretty accurate. Only, this is better cause at least we can still move around while it's happening.
  11. Come on now, let's be honest. Nuthin' is better than seeing someone using it and then grinding their face into the dirt repeatedly cause they're such trash players. xP
  12. Speaking as a guy who is a coach all year, 6 days a week, for 3 wildly different disciplines (gymnastics, cross country, and pole vault, for those curious), I'm just gonna say I don't entirely agree with you here. Positivity and positive reinforcement is all great and whatnot. Hell, about every other word I say while coaching is 'good' or 'nice job.' But those are just filler words to let my kids know I'm paying attention. If I have a critique however harsh, I like, tell them. And if I feel the kid can stand it (especially with my high schoolers), I'll give 'em some sass too. People are stubborn. They're gonna keep doing what they're doing, good and bad, positive reinforcement or no. You want them to learn, gotta be negative at some point. Then you can be positive again when they master the skill or whatever. To be a bit more relevant, I know that myself and a few others aren't intentionally trying to be *****, even though we tend to have fairly caustic personalities. I know for me, I default to what I call the "Why the **** are you so lazy" response. There is a good number of things that knowledgeable players at any level of play shouldn't have to waste time on explaining. For example, someone's mezzed the only enemy and is capping the node, and 5 seconds into the mezz the scrub taps him very deliberately, breaking the mezz. Seriously? Do we even need to explain that? Use your *********** head. Read some tooltips. The guy's CCed. Don't hit him. Or my personal favorite, healers not healing while the entire team is dying horribly. I don't mean a harrassed, CCed healer, I mean a free casting, no pressure healer using DPS abilities cause what the **** I don't even... Maybe it's just cause I was raised to give everything 100% effort, and if it was something I was interested in, I spent time outside that activity thinking about it or reading up on it or whatever? Either way, I will continue to have little to no tolerance for players who can't bother to use their brain even a little bit with the excuse that 'It's just a casual match, it doesn't matter.' That's a stupid, ******** reason to have for, well, anything. And is a very predominant attitude on the internet these days, so as it turns out, I'm caustic to a fair number of people. :3 C'est la vie. Or should I use the Die Hard line? Yippie ki ay, [fill-in-the-blank]. xD
  13. Not to be a downer, but I seriously doubt this post is gonna change much. I myself wasn't aware there was a relic bug until like... midnight last night, watching a stream. Some people aren't gonna use a different relic just cause. Not that they're malicious, it's just, this is Ebon Hawk so apparently we're 'casuals.' :s
  14. Some suggestions. Firstly, you should probably take the time to put up each advanced class mirror and talent tree, etc, where applicable for the few imperials who are unfamiliar with all the pubbie terms. And the rest of my suggestions are organized like your original post and are just simple additions/addendums. Alderaan Civil War: Strategy: Emphasis on CC. You can't control any node without proper use of CC. Point Guard: Any tank or DPS stealther is optimal. Next in line is highly mobile classes or classes with extremely good defensive CDs (ie juggernauts/guardians and marauder/sentinel) to abuse the multitude of LoS corners. NOT snipers/slingers, because of the LoS issue. Suggestions: Again, all about CC in Civil War. Also about warzone flow. Shifting just enough team focus to get them to overcompensate is key. Voidstar: Strategy for Offense: CC CC CC. Solid tactic is to put your two heaviest hitters on the same side, and your two tankiest (tank, heals, or tanky deeps) on the opposite side. Doesn't matter which is on which side, just that they're posing two distinctly different threats that forces overcompensation. Strategy for Defense: CC, delay tactics. A common (and acceptable) strat in full pug groups is to put two defenders on a door at any time, especially for the first set of doors. This gives a little extra time on either side, and they can also flip if the other side gets wiped. Point Guard: Any tank or DPS stealther is optimal. Next in line is highly mobile classes or classes with extremely good defensive CDs (ie juggernauts/guardians and marauders/sentinels). Snipers/slingers are okay here, good heavy hitters, decent control, no worries about LoS on doors, generally speaking, and good anti stealth detection. Huttball: Random: Please, god almighty hotkey the Pass ability. It is the single most drastic improvement you can do for any Huttball match. Carrier: Any highly mobile DPS is also acceptable to carry the ball, with the caveat that they need to pass it off quickly after moving a distance. Also, for the non-mobile classes (sniper/slinger, merc/commando in particular) setting up as a passing turret is good. IE, your team picks up the ball from mid, you, the passing turret, are a bit ahead to receive a pass and someone else is further along for you to immediately pass to. Novare Coast: Point Guard: Any tank or DPS stealther is optimal. Next in line is highly mobile classes or classes with extremely good defensive CDs (ie juggernauts/guardians and marauders/sentinels). NOT snipers/slingers, there are too many LoS obstacles in Novare for snipers to be effective solo defenders. Ancient Hypergate: Point Guard: Any tank or DPS stealther is optimal. Next in line is highly mobile classes or classes with extremely good defensive CDs (ie juggernauts/guardians and marauders/sentinels). Snipers/slingers are okay here, good heavy hitters, decent control, no worries about LoS, generally speaking, and good anti stealth detection, and reinforcements are relatively quick to arrive.
  15. Wrote another big long post decided to shorten it to this: There's more to a community than the bads. Here's what a high end player sees in a warzone. Let's do a scenario in Novare. High level player (let's call him Tom) is the only healer. He is busting his *** so hard, he literally has no time to between GCDs to move or get the middle node. Frank (the noob or newb, depending), is a player with a knockback, and two stuns off CD. Frank's battle performance notwithstanding, eventually the enemies mostly die and are running back to mid from spawn. This is what Tom sees as he's capping the node. Frank... uses his out of combat regenerate ability, and then sits there. Frank then realizes there's enemies coming. Frank uses an attack. Not a CC or knockback. Tom flips the **** out when their team doesn't manage to get the node one second shy. Frank, not getting it, is offended. Which either leads to self improvement, or continued badness by denying he ever does wrong. Can you really blame Tom? For Tom, it's literally so much second nature to him that he would use CC or knockbacks to delay for node cap, that when he sees another player not do it, he just can't imagine the player 'being that stupid.' Tom doesn't think about it anymore. He just does. There's a serious disconnect in community there. Tom has every right to complain. Just as much so as the noob/newb has for complaining about rude players. tl;dr. It's a double-edged sword. Don't just go around white-knighting for the baddies. Use your head and think about what the top-tier players see day to day.
  16. He said he's looking for a guild going for world firsts. I don't know of such guilds existing on Ebon Hawk. Do you? Also. Better RP on a PvP server. What are you smoking? Can I have some? >.>
  17. If you're looking for top PvE, go to a PvE server (the ones conveniently labeled 'PvE'). You'll not find what you're looking for here.
  18. Wait a week from tomorrow. Or two weeks. A month would probably be best. With arenas released, the atmosphere of PvP will change dramatically, I bet. The scrub **** talkers will finally be at home with deathmatches, and all the other **** talkers will just lay low with epeen conversations about their rating or somesuch.
  19. Voice chat compensates for awareness at all levels of play below the elite. And often times at the elite level when they choose to be lazy. xP I would also debate that in the case of warzones, coordination falls under a branch of awareness. Which probably seems really abstract and nonsensical, but is really a simple a + b + c = 3 equation. There's a limited number of ways to get 3 from a b and c. Good players know those, and know exactly what happens before, during and after those scenarios, and what the proper responses are. They don't need to be told to coordinate in b or c way, cause they know that in this case, a = 0. When the team knows what their role is, and how to carry out that role, it just gets done. And in pugs, that's all you can do. You can't try to DPShealtank. Or nodedefendattackninja. If you do your role as best you can (beyond just the trinity, this includes sweepers, defense, distracters, etc etc) and two or 3 other people do the same, you can give any premade a run for their money, voice chat or no. Even in pug only matches, warzones tend to follow the same general pattern and structure as all premades/full ranked teams, which means there's never an excuse not to practice awareness and fulfilling your role. What's frustrating is when the team gives up and doesn't try, and blames it on voice chat right out the gate. Right? I've been there. I solo queue (not in the last couple weeks /sad ). I know. But that's lack of effort and quitting. Not any perceived advantage of the other team.
  20. Yeah, and actually was thinking that last night after I made my post. Typing and voice chat help you get to the veteran awareness, as long as you don't use it as a crutch while learning. I guess what I also should've said is something I first heard well put by Day[9]. To paraphrase, don't QQ about X thing because you have a hard time with it. Practice, experiment, try every avenue, spend some time figuring out alternatives. And then after all that, if you're still having trouble, it might be OP or somesuch. Might. Still only about a 10% chance it is. In other words. Don't send out the blame. It's probably your fault somewhere somehow. And the only thing you can do with groups of pugs is play your best game. One player can't quite carry a team of 8. But damn if they can almost do it. Edit: And yes, I constantly have to remind myself of that last bit about it being my fault more often than not. It sucks, believe me. Getting trounced by someone or missing that vital heal. Only too look at my quickbars and think, ****! X ability was off CD, I could've asdkjghadgkjhfa. q.q Happens more often than I'd like to admit. xP
  21. Kraikof and Shakhaar, you guys missed the point entirely. The point was not on the speed of voice chat vs typing. It was that NEITHER ONE should need to be applicable in most scenarios. You can, in fact, legitimately respond to the off node before anyone sees the enemy running towards it. THAT is the point I was making. Awareness >>>>>>> voice chat. Use your head, count to 8. There's only a handful of things that missing player can do if he's late on returning from respawn. #1 on the list is he's going for your node, lol. Is voice chat useful? Yes, I'm not denying that. But in PvP, you fight and outsmart the players, not the voice chat. Pugs need to quit blaming voice chat for their general lack of awareness. The amazing teamplay awareness voice chat groups have is probably only about 5% voice chat. The other 95% is them knowing what information they're looking for and how to interpret and respond to it. And as a result, that's what makes the difference between premade groups that win a lot, and premade groups that lose a lot. TL;DR Awareness is innumerably more important than voice chat. Voice chat vs typing speed doesn't even factor into the equation.
  22. My two cents. About PvP voice chat. (PvE voice chat is a whole 'nother ballgame.) How I see it... Voice chat, in a perfect scenario, is two things. A) An instantaneous method of catching the mistakes of your team. Example: Your designated sweeper (the primary guy for running to help off nodes) has a brief lapse trying to help burn down the tank or something. Ordinarily, he'd respond and head to the off node on his own without need for any kind of call out, text or voice chat. But this time, his buds speak up with a 'Hey, you going?' Oh! Whoops! Sorry, OMW. B) An instantaneous method for the strategy lead to inform of a brief temporary/permanent switch in tactics. Example of what this is: Focus priority target #1 is being troublesome. Strategy lead calls for an immediate switch to focus priority #3 to catch the other team off guard. Example of what B) isn't: Group switching to attack the other node. For those off voice chat, you should have those targets marked, and the switch call is as easy and fast as typing "flame first" or "get flame now". "But voice chat is used for tons more things!" Because people, even the hardcores, are *********** lazy. Concerning point A), a player who is considered good by anyone does not need callouts to know he needs to respond. A player should know this by a variety of methods. One is by a simple visual check every few moments (for my operative, this translates to roughly about every second use of Recuperative Nanotech, or every third or forth Shiv as DPS). The second way of knowing is by counting. I think everyone who plays this game can count to 8. If you're fighting 7 people mid, that allows for their 1 defender. If all of a sudden, there's only 5 enemies in the area, you might wanna check your off node, cause you've got 2 enemies unaccounted for. This can also be done by intuition based on warzones. For example, Voidstar often becomes a full assault on one side, die, everyone switches to the other. You 'feel' this when combat gets light on your side, which means it's time to switch. The only time voice chat should enter into the equation for more than points A and B above, is when you're playing at such a high level, that player skill has become a non-factor, and it comes down to best teamplay. Hint: our server doesn't quite meet that category. Close, but not quite. TL;DR: Less voice chat QQ, more playing smarter, not harder. It does not take that much effort to increase your awareness. Voice chat is predominantly for the lazy (or social butterflies who just need to talk to someone regardless xD ), and any group of good players who know what they're supposed to do and where they're supposed to be can easily match and outplay a group on voice chat.
  23. The problem with a workshop is that it'd largely be preaching to the choir. How many of those 'dreadful pugs' do you suppose visit the official forums? Unofficial forums? Have well connected acquaintances who will clue them in? Yeah. None of the above is a safe assumption. So that means we'd have to advertise in game, but how many people do you know that have general and/or PvP chat off? So to maximize attendance, we'd have to spam warzone ops chat, which I'm suuuure will earn us lots of friends. xD Doesn't necessarily mean it wouldn't be worth it. Many of those who'd show are probably of that middle tier variety who are looking for what gives people that bit of extra edge that grants the illusion of invincibility. (Think Mario Kart star item? lulz) But since that sort of workshop would be touching on more advanced techniques, it'd become something completely different from what you're proposing. Now, to be honest, I think the problem with PvPers these days isn't the MMO, or the 'hardcore' or 'dedicated' PvPers. It's the fresh-faced players of the new generation who don't have the remotest clue what being 'thick skinned' means. Most of our problems wouldn't happen or even be problems if we all grew a pair and donned some thornmail (just search youtube for thornmail, you'll find good stuff). As a final note, I'm not encouraging or endorsing legitimate harassment cases. They happen, it's bad, and as I understand it, one happened fairly recently. But other problems like the QQ and general ************ wouldn't be an issue if humans stopped breeding these wussy, pansy-assed "I'm a special snowflake!" scrubs.
  24. People are too content with their own groups and status quo. Doubt you're going to get much more responses than what you've already got. :/
  25. I'm sure that there are some guilds in the world across games that are entirely well mannered players. However, due to the nature of PvP, even though they may be well mannered, the little ***** who can't PvP will still rant and moan and complain that they hack or what-have-you, and therefore acquire a bad reputation through no fault of themselves. 'Tis the way it goes. Hot tempers and the QQers being the loudest.
