  1. First off, let me start by saying thank you to the developers. As a guild leader in this game since launch, I had been hearing the promises of guild capital ships for a couple of years before they became a reality. That gives me hope that some of the other promises will eventually come to pass. For instance, I'm still waiting on the guild tax. For those who are unfamiliar, that's (at least the way I envision it) where every time you pick up credits from something you killed, a portion of those credits automatically deposit themselves into your guild bank. The more active your guild, the faster those credits accumulate. And as a guild master or officer, you don't have to have uncomfortable conversations with your members about their lack of contributions. Yes, this does at least somewhat unfairly burden a guild member for being in a guild. I'm also not a big fan of Conquest. For those that enjoy it, good for you. For those of us in small non-competitive guilds, we're never going to be on those leader boards and will probably never enjoy a fully opened capital ship. I also don't like the way some of the people I used to game with from time to time now devote themselves almost exclusively to conquest to benefit their guild. I propose the following change: Rather than extra tabs in the guild bank costing credits, and rather than guild capital ships costing credits, create a new currency -- guild reputation. Reputation can be earned by doing flashpoints, ops, quests, heroics, etc. Basically, just being out there being active. The larger your guild, the faster you earn it. But everything your guild may want (extra storage tabs, decorations for the stronghold, more rooms unlocked on the capital ship, etc.) should cost reputation rather than credits. As a guild, you decide what to spend your reputation on. As a large guild, maybe you've already unlocked all the extra rooms on your capital ship and in your stronghold, and you've got all the bank vault tabs already. What do you spend your reputation on? How about a 24-hour credit buff where every time you kill something, instead of 1000 credits, you get 1200? Or maybe an extra Section-X reputation buff that stacks with your normal reputation buff so some of your members who haven't yet maxed out their Section-X reputation can do so in short order. Or even a social buff so you earn 20% more social points for 24 hours. Maybe even a reverse-engineering buff where your chances of successfully reverse-engineering are doubled for 24 hours. And if you're a smaller guild and don't really want a capital ship, but like the idea of a credit drop buff, you could earn enough rep to buy that instead. The priorities of your guild are yours to determine. While I'm on Santa's lap, I'd also like a log file, somewhat similar to combat logs, but for guilds. I want to know who kicked someone out of my guild when I wasn't logged on, and exactly when. I want to know who left of their own accord. I want to know who joined. Yes, most of that can easily be solved by better internal communication among the officers and members, but it would still be nice to have that log. Flashing through a flashpoint, you don't always see when something significant happens in the guild. I'd love to be able to whisper to a guild member no matter where they are (as long as they are online) right from the guild window. And yes, I also want to see the guild mail and the guild calendar, but those two things pop up in this forum a lot.
  2. I'm with you. How about the ability to purchase a much smaller vessel initially, just to get one. And as you can afford to, upgrade to a larger size. Maybe a series of 3 at the 10 Million Credit mark, 30 Million Credit mark, and the big ones we can purchase now at the 50 Million Credit mark?
  3. As someone who has spent WAY TOO MUCH actual cash on cartel coins, I am 100% in favor of this idea. As a matter of fact, I think it would be cool if the only way to unlock dye packs in your collection was to obtain 100% on 3 packs for each dye you want to unlock. I know Black/Black would be my first. I buy lots of those things every time they go on sale.
  4. There is a reason. I do not know what it is, though. First, let me commend you. Your post, while lengthy, was inspired. I read it with great interest. Second, please allow me to gently scold you. I would argue that your literary talent is wasted here. Plant those seeds in fertile soil, not in a parking lot. I do not like all of your ideas. I found some of them to be rather scary. I like this game, and some of your changes would just bee too jarring and distractful for me, personally. But by the same token, the changes you propose are jarring. They are grand and chellenging. You have put a lot of thought into them, and I would think that there would be a prosperous career for you in game development, or a number of other careers that require imagination and vision. Do you have any ideas aimed at building cohesion within guilds? It looks to me like guilds were not on the initial design document for the development of this game, and were thrown in later to bow to perceived or actual demand. It is not easy or natural to locate my guild members in a crowd, and there is no mechanism in the game to actually encourage guild membership or loyalty.
  5. If you have characters on more than one server then it would span servers, too. I would think that would be more difficult to implement than a Legacy bank, and would also take much longer. I would propose that a Legacy bank be created first, and later, they can work out spanning your legacy across servers, which would automatically make the Legacy bank an account bank.
  6. Seriously? Chat bubbles are the one thing that this game needs to keep you happy? I like the game. I like it a LOT. It's a great game in and of its own right. But I have a list of stuff I still want to see. 1. If there's a strong/champion/elite by a lootable chest, then please fix it so someone doesn't click it while I'm fighting that champion. Nothing makes me want to leave the game more than rewarding the bad in people. 2. Give me more character slots. I can't play a guardian because I have a sentinel. You gave me a reason to play both Empire and Republic on the same server, now you're giving me a new playable race, too? 8 character slots is simply not enough. I'm not going to delete an existing character to play this new race. 3. Give my guild some identity. The bank is nice, but how about the equivalent of a guild hall? How about the equivalent of a guild cape? I know there's a suggestion box, and I've made all these suggestions there. I just use them to illustrate my point that chat bubbles simply won't cut it.
  7. Funny stuff! Is there a way to "Like" this post?
  8. Apparently, the current system doesn't work either, or there wouldn't be calls to change it.
  9. It's tomorrow, and I haven't been able to log in yet. Apparently, the servers will be down for several hours of unscheduled maintenance. How big was the email with the titles in it? Did you scan it for viruses first?
  10. As a professional software developer, one of the first rules you learn never to break is to make a backup before you start making changes. Was no backup made when they took the servers down at 6 this morning? If they had made a backup at that point, then they could have restored to that point and pushed back the patch that they tried to deploy at 6. It's a free "do-over" and an absolute MUST to cover your behind. I am not one to throw stones without applying a little salve, so let me also commend Bioware and/or EA on the effort they pour into this game. It's only four months old and we see the new content coming out. They may not be fixing bugs fast enough for some of you, or adding in your suggestions fast enough, but I can tell you that their level of dedication is much higher than most of the other game development houses out there, and a good many of the non-game commercial software development houses out there. We're hungry, but they're making the food as fast as they can.
  11. 8 slots would probably be fine for now if I played one character all the way to level 50 and then created my first alt and played it all the way to level 50, and so forth. But that's not how I play. I've now got all 8 slots filled (deleted 4 good Republic characters to make 4 Imperial characters) and now all of my characters are between level 13 and 35. So for me and the way I play, the Legacy system is really just a big inconvenience at this point. Heck, to me, even sprint only came one level early for two characters. With my personal limitations and life outside this game, 8 characters is probably all I can realistically juggle for now, but I'd really like to have the room to at least create one of each advanced class. I really liked having some really low level characters that I could plan on developing at a later date, and I also kind of enjoyed saving up good drops for them. Bioware, please give me more character slots. Even if I have to pay actual real-world cash money, I'll do it.
