  1. You contribute, by doing damage to an enemy player or objective like a node turret. If your on a node already green, all you have to do is sit on it. While sitting, one hopes you defend it as well instead of running away when the enemy comes. All you have to do to keep the node green, is move around the turret. Let the enemy chase you around the merry go round. Yeah, sometimes you die doing that, but if you arent up to doing much damage, shooting like 5 percent, having them chase you is the best option til your shooting improves. In a TDM, all you have to do is damage to an enemy player. One tap of your laser. Every few minutes. Yeah, I have gotten non contributing before just by being chased alot, and i couldnt turn around to tap someone with lasers. So, while running, if I get that message, Ill shoot someone as I pass by them. If im not already dead from the chase. Easiest contributing for a match is to be on a green node and defending. You dont have to do anything else. You dont have to shoot and do damage. Just being on the green node is a good thing. That is, if you have a green node, lol. I see its hard and get three capped a lot more these days.
  2. Ill say, the one most frequently talked about is on SF. And they tend to fly through the day and night. You do know, they can queue up to 8 for their team now. So, basically you can pick your entire team before you queue now. Wouldnt be so bad if they went 2 4 man teams. Dont get me wrong. They dont always have all 8 filled. Not against groups so much as how long they can keep going. They certainly arent up to SIN, SRW or Drakolich standards. But still against the general population, you can certainly sway more wins your way in this configuration. It is what it is. Just like slicing. Part of the game, and you work around it as best you can., If that isnt the server they are talking about, well. This is the two cents worth on SF server, lol.
  3. Til you are blue in the face? Cause it aint going away. This is the tenth year. Zero effort is going to go into gsf in any way, shape, or form unfortunately. It will most likely be this way until they pull the power plug on the servers. The changes they made at 5.5 were intended to make it more group-centric. I know, its unpalatable. But thats the gods honest truth. This has been gone over many times, before you even mentioned it here. And, there it lies on the dust heap of history. I feel ya. But it isnt going to change.
  4. Dont be shy! New people and old, talk good memories, bad memories, etc. I remember, i think it was within the first month of GSF, we took a pop and no one could shoot each other. We spawned in the middle of the map. But we could self destruct. Total chaos that soon brought the servers down for "emergency maintenance". At least, that was Harbinger. But Harbinger always had something wrong with the power hamsters.
  5. I do a work around for "premades". If you happen to be on a server that has more than one match at a time (SF does, many times), look to see what match they are in. If you can figure that out, you can "off queue". Which means, dont accept the pop they have just taken. Wait for the next one. If you are on opposite faction as the premade, then its a 50/50 shot because you cant check, other than asking someone in match if they are there.
  6. I know what you are thinking. End premades would make the matches better. TBH, if they banned that, there would likely be less pops. As few and far between as some servers already are, it wouldnt be a good thing. Solo queue is best, but if its between going against a premade or less or no pops. I dont mind grouped people. Its just, how long they continue to be grouped that is the issue. Particularly, when they know they are crushing everything. It is a group game after all. As with slicing and all, its part of the game.
  7. He did say it inspired him for that one! Despon made so many good videos, training and otherwise. The gsf community owes him a debt of gratitude!
  8. I loved it enough, where a few years ago I made a GSF Trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kL20vwclyo Not great editing, but it was my first bit of editing.
  9. SO many to think of! The constant pops..... If it didnt pop as soon as you queued, people were putting in tickets thinking it was broken.
  10. This still applies. And always will. The only stupid question is the one that goes unasked.
  11. at least on SS, the pops have always been slow or nonexistent. SF and DM are pretty darn good in their prime times. Its not dead, just more active where there is more population these days. GSF has been out ten years in December, the game a few years more than that. People move on. GSF will die when Swtor dies.
  12. Ok, just a FYI It took me thousands of matches to get decent, because im a slow learner. So, you arent alone in the "im not getting it" category. In the satellite (node) matches known as DOM, to contribute, do some kind of damage, or be defensive and sit on a node you own (green). If you have trouble landing shots, its probably best to be on one of your nodes to defend it against the other team. Just being on a green node makes you contributing. In a TDM (where you dont capture nodes, but the idea is to kill as many enemy as you can, you might want to hang back on your spawn side. Not IN the spawn area, but your half of the map. You can shoot at people from the enemy team that venture that far. Use the power ups the blink red (damage over charge known as a DO), yellow (they regen main laser faster than normal, AND it refills your ammo), purple (engine power regen boost and speed boost), and then blue (shield boost). You use those, and you can do some extra damage, speed in and out of trouble, refill your used ammo, etc. Plus getting five of those per match gives you legacy cheevs. So, those are an easy cheev accomplishment. Unfortunately, you do have to do some damage. Just dont try so hard. Get within laser range and just shoot someone. Do some damage that way, and if you are feeling froggy, try and kill them. If not, just shoot someone do some damage and retreat for a bit and catch your breath. Relax a bit and let your abilities regen to use again. I'd have to say, the GSF discord has a segment that has lots of updated info for GSF. Plus, not only that it has lots of veterans that would respond to your questions. As far as builds, there are bad ones. The good ones, everyone has their build but its premised on some main points. Adjust it to your liking. What you like to do. You might look up GSF School on youtube. Its got the basics. But in the past it has helped veterans get better. Some things you just dont know until you see it. Good luck and dont despair.
  13. I have to say............ Pops are fine. Groups or no groups. As I said before Satele sucks as far as pops, because of low population and the penchant for non participators and self destructors. Pops on SS generally are not back to back. Usually a good 15 minute or more wait. And thats during prime time. Star Forge has zero issue with pops and gets multiple matches many times. Darth Malgus as well is good for pops like Star Forge. On the evenings, SF does have multiple groups queueing. Darth Malgus is good for their prime time earlier in the day U.S. time Queues pop fine, premades or not. Well, except Satele, where its always hit and miss.
  14. /cjoin gsf in game, joins you to the channel most veterans of GSF are in, and perfect to ask questions. This applies to all servers. Every server has a GSF channel. Besides that, there is a GSF Discord. Not going to put an open ended link in here, as its too easy to throw spam bots in that way. If you would like to join GSF Discord, ask in the GSF channel in game for someone to throw you an invite. GSF Discord has most veterans, links to GSF related material, such as training aids, builds, etc. GSF Discord is a huge resource for new pilots. Feel free to ask questions in there. But dont argue if you dont agree with it. Its okay to ask why that particular build, equipment, etc. Remember, the veterans have been around a bit. They offer years of practical experience. All we can do is offer advice. How you tweek it is up to you. But, we would be glad to help you. My hope is you take this opportunity to help your game play and over all quality of games. If you have come here to the forums, it means you are in search of answers. We have them.
  15. Amen sister! PREACH!! Im pretty much done here. No further response, due to inactivity of the op.
  16. No. You dont get it. It costs money to do anything with GSF. GSF is losing them money if they had one guy spend time trying to make it better. Like in vending. If a machine makes 30 bucks a year, and its over an hour away. One service call loses the money we made on that machine for the year. Same difference. You are on a losing course. As all that have taken your course over the years. You arent the first one to come up with those ideas. There are better things to do with their time if they decide to spend any time on GSF. But its not what you guys have listed here.
  17. I can say as a guy who has lost 50-17, and having 16 of those kills, or even im a match we lost 50-48, and I had 35, I dont give up. If i get discouraged, i just dont fly. I dont self destruct other than by accident. losing 40 to nothing and coming back to win 50-40 isnt a thing. If its a losing match, like you feel you cant win it, use the time to get better. Self destructing on purpose is a losers mentality. This will be my last post here. It makes my skin crawl.
  18. As I stated, any intentional self destructing is bad. No matter how you look at it. And, as you say, im a "try hard" because yes, i like to win. I do the best i can. Someone who gives up like you turn my stomach. Doing what you say you do, you will never get better at gsf. Not to mention, other players think you are not great either too. Intentionally self destructing to end a match faster is in fact, re portable. If people wanted to go that route. Which could mean banning for a few days to weeks. You must be new. We arent.
  19. Op doesnt realise, this is a ded component of SWTOR, which itself is dyibng. A game within a game, if you will. You stated they expected to make lots of money off GSF Not the case. You know why? If they were going to make a lot of money off GSF, they would have launched it on its own merit, and not have it as another component of SWTOR. The likelihood, GSF gets any attention at all is at this point, extremely low. We had to fight like heck to get changes at 5.5 And that was when lots more people were still playing. Not to mention, the 5.5 changes were made to make it even more group-centric. If this were solo mode, there would be a match maker connecting into 1 v 1's. As it stands now, you press solo or group you end up in the same place. As has always been the case. If you dont want to listen to people who have been here from the start, or near it, I dont know what to tell you. This type of post, if you look back has popped up many times over the years. Do a search. And, you will find what we have been telling you is in fact true. There have been people like the op, that have come and gone. As will this one, without seeing any changes because its coming from an unknowing view. Satele is so slow popping because no one wants to fly there, because of so many afk'ers and sd'ers when they do fly there. It is just not a good server at all. Which is shocking because Harbinger server is part of it since the mergers. Its not because of premades. The server just blows. Star forge is fine. Not great but certainly miles above SS. SS is pretty much considered dead.
  20. There is no difference between solo and group queue. even when they were separate, you still ended up in the same match. There is no "group instance" nor "solo instance". There never was. And as stated, GSF was intended to be a group mode.
  21. @Saeten Yeah, thats just bad sportsmanship. Thats being a not too good player at all. Possibly stop queueing and screwing up matches if you are going to self destruct. Other than by mistake of course. But intentional self destruction at any time isnt good practice. Its even more funny when people self destruct in a DOM. Because they have to do it 1000 times. Just think. YOU and people with your mentality are the reason people group. Txs in advance.
  22. Here is the deal. Though, I understand your discouragement with the premade, look at it from the other side. That being, every member of that premade, has experienced what you experience. It doesnt even take a premade to get the outcome you describe. Matchmaker sucks, yes. However, matchmaker doesnt take into account 3/4 of a team not contributing to the outcome of a match. Matchmaker, expects people to be attentive and play like they care and want to win. The real deal is, most teams are comprised of people who dont want to be there. So, groups, premades tend to form. Because people that care about the game, want people who care about the outcome as much as they do. It sucks, yeah I know. But, if you could solve the people there to just get a match done no matter how, as long as they dont do anything, or even self destruct, you wont solve the group problem. As it was intended, GSF was made to be a group based game. Grouping, lowers the risk of bad players on your team. All you need to do is, invite like minded people to group with you. Or, even ask to join one. LFG isnt just a PVE thing.
  23. Oh. You mean, you are complaining about people better than you. Flying together. Here is an idea. How about, getting into your own group? The whole point of GSF is, its a team game. If I can have a couple people I can count on, yeah. Ill group with them. You cant blame that on match maker. You blame that on players only there for the rewards for conquest, seasons, and what not. Nothing to do with actual GSF. Dont blame people who know how to play the game, and group up to counter those players described above.
