  1. Yes you kill the specific commanders adds before they come down or else they get very buffed, hence why you get a warning that so and so is coming down. Also why you clean them up before final burn.
  2. I know people have mentioned DtPS as well, but recently was running hm monolith. One healer who according to parsely is top 3 on almost every fight there was in the group, he was putting out 6k hps and 4k ehps which is fantastic in most cases. However, he was also taking almost 2k DtPS which was at least 500 more than the highest dps. On this fight, healers don't even get targeted by unavoidable mechanics and should only be taking slam damage and the Simon says channel damage. Combining those two stats, his actual ehps was somewhere between 3 and 3.5k because e of the healing he had to do to counter the extra damage he was taking. If your healer is taking that extra damage and spending time healing themself, they clearly aren't healing everyone else
  3. As the game has gotten older, bioware has continually made the lower level content easier. When the game launched class planetary storyline had bosses with mechanics and power to force you to stop and read your abilities in order to learn them and utilize properly. My first toon was a jedi sentinel and I remember the hardest boss for me was the class quest final boss on tatooine. Between his pushes and stuns, you had to learn 4 mains things How to really use your companion to soak up the most damage but keep them alive How to use your interrupt sequencing so it would be back up when needed And to use your stuns as extra interrupts for when your actual interrupt was down Lastly manage your defensive cds and medpacs because the boss hit like a truck Now your way to engage that boss is basically... send in treek, sit back and laugh when at 30% use dispatch.
  4. The split attack was put in as a response to feedback about the city boss in Scum and Villainy, his "terminate" style attack on the tank was initially a one point of damage that was something like 45k damage, at the time this was a lot higher than any health pool and completely put the fight on a minimal amount rng rolls of the tanks' defense stats. In response to this they made it several attacks that occur at the same time but for a reduced damage of about 10k so that you have 4-5 chances of rng working in your favor and the tank surviving the attack but still taking a large amount of damage. They then continued doing this for all new content after the change as a way to make some insane spike damage points more navigable. Working as intended As to dps getting hit, I believe KBN explained it in another thread similar to this that when underlurker has a successful cross there is still a couple hits of random damage that go out supposively on random targets; however, at times these randomly targeted 5-10k hits can all target the same person because, reasons (bioware basically sucks at coding). Sometimes you will notice that at the end a successful cross everyone takes a small amount of damage, other times one person takes massive damage and the rest don't get a scratch.
  5. Lol at this thread. There is so much left out by the op that to even speculate is a joke. A current level op if fully cleared drops at least six tokens, if loot rules are set that each player can only win one item then the number of players rolling for the mainhand is not the full 8 players in the instance. Even if the operation has amazing drop rate rng and an extra relic or im plant drops from every boss that makes 11 token drops and yes some players will get multiples. Also in every operation run, did every group member roll need for and win a piece if possible? There are just so many possible factors that go into these "coincidences" that to even challenge the rng of the dice rolls is rediculous! As to actual dice rolls and unweighted dice, luck is the human term for coincidences of randomness.
  6. Does anyone else feel like this thread degenerated into "we all have to live through a day and everyone's day is the same... so boring?" Its the matter in which you go through your day that makes it different not that every day is the exact same in that it lasts 24 hours...
  7. Tried out BH HM for the first time a few weeks ago with two guildies, one dps and one heals. Queue up for it and get paired with a sorc healer who got slotted as dps, yay! First boss, the sorc decides that while doing basic rotation of "I didn't bother to respec from heals" to also stand in the lightning balls... He dies and fight gets finished. In the meantime, following the sorcs death, they start typing in chat about how I am a terrible tank for not keeping them from getting damage and that the healer is terrible for not keeping them up... woot! Now we all remembered why we don't use groupfinder anymore, why put up with this **** when there is utterly no beneficial reward for doing so? Anyways kick him and get a marauder who comes in and always runs in the opposite direction from us three to try and solo the challenges like it was a TFP or something. Anyways, he manages to stay alive for most of the boss fights and the running off to die is sort of funny and definitely a better level of stupidity than we might have gotten from a kick and requeue. Close out the flashpoint and we vow never to do it again.
  8. Me clarifying my point from the previous page was apparently not ok with you but I guess you have an issue with that point. I guess it's hard for you, Drax, to conceive I might have been speaking/replying to someone else.
  9. Yes very aware you want more terrible tacticals or do you want the gw2 version, everyone chase the npc with a circle around it like decapitated chickens and spam random buttons?
  10. So you know what the solution is to there being a larger portion of a****** tanks? Be a tank! Cause complaining about it and putting more tanks on ignore accomplishes nothing but to make your queue times longer.
  11. You mean the one the "player" is wearing? Isn't that some of the underworld gear from lvl 55 ops? Also, last time I checked 1 Am PDT =/= 10 AM CST
  12. g_land

    Merges

Cause when it's prime time for the harbinger it's already 11 going on midnight for the east coast? Might have a wee something to do with it...
  13. LOL Every role group has plenty of ******e* but you are less impacted by an a****** dps or healer than a tank. So... yes... let's blame it on tanks being *ss**l** rather than people deciding to play the more popular roles and removing potential players from the tanking pool. Yep, those ***ho** tanks are entirely to blame, so much easier than looking in a mirror.
  14. If they took the 2 and four piece for 186 and incorporated it into the 192 6 piece that would be preferable. Make the alacrity boost proc from weaken mind the 6 piece with a 25 second rate limit, make the current 6 piece be the 4 piece and take 15 seconds off mental alacrity for the 2 piece that would probably be a better balanced combination. Though you could lose the second off force potency mechanic and keep the 15 sec cd reduction on mental alacrity as the 4 piece. 2 piece would probably just need to be cost reduction of the spam abilities.
  15. Damage not alacrity was the point Unsurprisingly they have issues with balance
  16. 2% lIke all the others... still... where did that come from bioware?
  17. Wait, doesn't the two piece set bonus increase damage by 5% for 15 seconds following turbulence and force leach? Certainly not alacrity which is the whole reason for using the 186 four piece.
  18. So I get the point of that poster and it's great and all aside from the one slight flaw, bioware has never gone into any truly informative communication about future plans beyond the one immediately in front of them. Even this year's "plan" that was provided for 2014 didn't include any detail beyond 3.2 besides items that had already been leaked or mentioned in passing: togruta, stronghold, new expansion with no actual dates or patch numbers attached to them. They have a detail starved community that creates the result of any detail released gets reviewed with a fine tooth comb and rediculous perception swings abound along with the arguments and insults that invariably follow in an Internet connected community.
  19. It's stuff like this that actually fuels the arguments. Look at the operations blog thread. Now the blog literally says that there is no new Operations content and within the context of the discussion people will accurately state that there is no new content. However, other people see these statements in the thread just see people complaining, accurately remember, and jump in to say, "hey we are getting all this story content!" Now that is also true, but how helpful is it really to jump in to a thread where it is confirmed by something posted by Bioware that there is no new Operations content and just object with the off topic of, but story content. It's laughable that there were at least three multiple page spanning arguments about that exact distinction when the best way to approach it would have been something along the lines that it's unfortunate for some that bioware is not concentrating on their interest but it's the way bioware has chosen to go at this time. For me, I originally joined this game cause LIGHTSABERS and I loved star wars story. I played through each planetary quest line at least once and have at least two of each base class at 60 to experience both L/D stories. I found what kept me around was joining a guild and end game operations. However 2.0 had two story lines and 3.0 had one now it looks like 4.0 will also have one. With no new Operations releasing, there is no reason for me to do anything more than referral links to get access to the new chapters. I like all aspects of this game except GSF and recognize that people will be very happy with this and I hope they enjoy it but I am not running some 30 odd characters through the same storyline again after having already done it for 3.0 regardless of whether it gets a monthly update. Sorry for singling you out Icestar but I recognized you from the other thread doing exactly what I described. Tl: dr people have issues with context of a topic. Also, tip for all you folks who buy off the CM to sell items for in game credits; buy lots of operations passes;)
  20. Didn't you know that reading comprehension is one of the top ten skills required to post on the forums?
  21. I believe there have been one maybe two iterations of this since this thread died. Last was updated by keiki.
  22. But here is the issue, unless they change how their refer a friend works all you need to do is click a referral link every 97 days... no one actually needs to subscribe as long as you bought the SoR expansion.
