  1. I recently came across an upcoming book for pre-order on Amazon: The Bounty Hunter Code It's an in-universe textbook of sorts, written by the same guy who did the Jedi Path and Book of the Sith books. Both of those were very interesting, in that they each compiled tenants and teachings from various SW figures throughout the SW universe history (including Darth Malgus in the Sith book), and had commentaries scrawled in the margins by other prominent figures. It looks like the book will focus a lot on Mandalorian (and other bounty hunter groups), their philosophy, armor, weaponry, etc., with commentary coming from Tor Vizsla, the Fetts, Aurra Sing, and Hondo Ohnaka. I linked the Vault Edition, which comes with a bunch of stuff that you'll check out once, and then probably hardly ever look at again (though I admit the Jedi locker and Sith holocron look pretty cool just sitting out, so I'll probably like having the bounty hunter ammo case to set out beside them). Odds are there will be a much cheaper book-only version for about $20 when it is released in October.
  2. It's really good if you like Shakespeare as well as Star Wars (as I do). I finished reading it today and really enjoyed the rewrite. The story lends itself to Shakespeare really well, and the author makes some nice callbacks to several of Shakespeare's plays (and another sci-fi series too for that matter). I'd personally like to see it brought to the stage, as well as rewrites for Empire and Jedi.
  3. I really enjoy the show, though I suppose I was a late-comer. I started watching during the early Tennant years, and went back and watched Eccelston in between seasons. I've only seen a few episodes of the older incarnations, but I've enjoyed them. Though Tennant remains my favorite (you never forget your first doctor!), I've enjoyed Smith's run and hate to see him go. Can't wait to see what's in store for the 50th special though!
  4. Sounds like a pretty cool project... Signed up and supported it!
  5. To sell figurines and statues I guess, plus the tie-in to The Clone Wars series. The leader of the Death Watch, Pre Viszla, has a darksaber that was looted from the Jedi temple by Shea and handed down through his family. I really do like Shea Viszla though (and bought both of those items mentioned above). I keep hoping she pops up in a future flashpoint, operation, or at least a book (besides the casual mention in Deceived, which was basically just describing what happened in that trailer, and a few brief entries in the SWTOR Encyclopedia).
  6. I would love to have a Taun Faun, and I too am a CE owner, have been subscribed since release, and have RotC preordered since it was announced... but I don't want it for myself actually. You see, about a month ago I finally conned my dad into joining me in the game (you know, to rule the galaxy as father and son ), and he's been avidly playing SWTOR ever since. He even subscribed himself by the time his smuggler left Ord Mantell. This is probably the first game he's really taken an interest in since I was a little kid playing my original Nintendo, and needless to say it's been quite a learning curve for him. Nevertheless, he has made remarkable progress with his smuggler, to the point that we've managed to 2-man Heroic 4's and even a couple of the early flashpoints. It's probably the most time we've spent together since I moved out of my parent's house a decade ago! My characters have plenty of pets, but he doesn't have any. He's seen my characters being chased by bats, mini-robots, and other critters including the Taun Taun ram, which he liked but alas cannot get since it was a giveaway at the launch of the legacy system. I've told him we'll be able to get him an Orokeet on Alderaan (assuming we can actually get the egg) but won't be able to hatch it until Tattooine. The Taun Faun, a much rarer pet, would certainly be a cooler starting pet for him, and better since I'm sure he'd like the Faun more. He doesn't browse the forums as far as I know, but if you choose me, just message me and I can send you his account name so you can send the code directly to him if you'd like. Regardless of who you pick, thanks for running this awesome little contest for the community!
  7. My fiancee definitely went over the top with Star Wars stuff this year (not that I mind of course ): - A Darth Vader jacket - 3 different calendars (movie edition, comic book edition, and a day-at-a-time one) - An X-wing ice cube tray - 2 picture frames - one says "We have powerful friends" and lights up and the other one says "This will be a day long remembered!" - Star Wars family car decals - And last but not least, the so-called "Fett Box" containing a Fett shirt, a Fett costume hoodie, a wallet with Fett showing Han in carbonite reflecting in his visor, the skiff barge/sarlaac pit Lego set, and an M&M Fett candy dispenser/mini-fan ...Oh and a few non-SW things too She also willingly sat through the bootleg DVD of the Holiday Special that I found online. She's definitely a keeper lol
  8. I'd love to be able to do a lifetime subscription, and Erethrian's breakdown is pretty much what I was thinking as well.
  9. I thought the episode was interesting. I certainly liked the depiction of Ilum and how the cave sort of challenged each youngling to face their fears. As for the Wookiee Jedi, well I always thought that rule was pointless and arbitrary anyway. Although, there's nothing that says he'll be done with his training before Anakin storms the temple. In related news, I ran across this: http://nerdapproved.com/misc-weirdness/david-tennant-to-guest-star-on-star-wars-the-clone-wars-video/ Looks like David Tennant (the 10th Doctor for Doctor Who fans) is playing in the second episode from the arc.
  10. Harmonix also partnered with a similar company when they released RockBand 2... I made my main guitarist from that game and still have it on displayed in my home theater/gaming room. It's a shame that they discontinued the service when RockBand 3 came out. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to buy my SW characters as well!
  11. It's a pretty interesting read, albeit a bit short. It has different chapters that are written by various sith lords throughout time (including Darth Malgus), and notes and comments from Darth Sidious, Vader, and various Jedi, on each section written in the margin like you'd see in a used textbook. There's also a light-side version called the Jedi Path, written in a similar manner. Again, both books are pretty short but interesting reads. I bought the vault editions myself (the holocron version), which comes with various items, maps, posters, and other stuff that you'd probably look at once or twice and leave sitting inside the box/holocron afterward. Those versions were a tad overpriced (even when I bought them as Amazon Gold Box deals) but they do make a neat display among the rest of my SW stuff.
  12. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet... but I love this song so much that it's been my ringtone for years now: I also like the Windspire remix (the video for which was made using Star Wars Galaxies):
  13. I won't bother posting my opinion, since it's not really relevant. However, I would like to mention that the devs don't really wade through the forums looking for questions posed to them like this. They do a Community Q&A every week, which draws questions from a single thread linked from the previous week's entry. Unfortunately, you missed the deadline for this week's Q&A, but they should be opening the next one this weekend. Of course, there's no guarantee that they'll answer your question, but you'd have better odds of getting an official answer.
  14. Luke had already bulls-eyed plenty of womp rats in his T-16 speeder and of course Ben already knew that by the time the movies start. Seriously though, it's just to introduce the game mechanics, which aren't canon at all.
  15. Well, it's not exactly as many battles as there are episodes, since most of them take place in story arcs over a few episodes, but that doesn't necessarily mean the campaign took any longer. Other episodes are flashbacks (like the training of the ARC troopers), which very well could've taken place before the Clone Wars actually began. Also, in some cases the main characters are separated from one another as well, especially in the later seasons.
  16. Same situation for me... Might I suggest Things From Another World? That's where I've been getting them (just read through issue #2... I won't give anything away though). I do wish they could have published it without mentioning where it falls on the timeline (at least until the last issue). That kind of ruined the suspense surrounding his death before you even get into the comic book.
  17. SW1313 looks really cool... I can't wait to find out more about it.
  18. I use that Logitech Performance MX mouse and love it. It has a good range, a good ergonomic feel, is rechargeable (no AA's), and the ability to use it on any surface is great for me because I play on a couch across the room from the TV that I have my computer connected to. The extra buttons are nice, although the thumb button's function can be a bit of an irritant (when pressed, it drops back to the desktop and shows you all active windows... last I tried it wasn't re-assignable in-game, though you can bind it to a key or disable it entirely in the mouse's software). You do have to sort of go out of your way to hit the thumb button though, so I generally don't find myself hitting it too often. Its unifying connector also recognizes my Logitech K800 keyboard, which also has a good range and illuminated keys for playing in low light.
  19. I'd have to agree. SW has become deeply entrenched in our world's collective memories. While interest in it ebbs and flows, I wouldn't say it's in any danger of being dried up anytime soon considering the popularity of SW novels, SW games, the current cartoon show, and the upcoming live action show. In reference to the last line, I'd bet if anybody survives, there will be people re-enacting the movie .
  20. One of my fellow guild officers was discussing this not too long ago. He, a long-time WoW veteran, figured it would be a pointless free High -> Low transfer scheme, but I have to disagree. Now, I never played WoW (or bothered with any other MMORPG for that matter), but I have seen media reports of mergers, usually written in a less-than-favorable tone. To avoid that, I'd suggest the transfer service should work something like this: They will likely (or at least should) open a handful of Standard servers as the initial Destination servers, and allow free transfers from both the Light servers as well as the Very Heavy servers. Those that want to consolidate their avatars on one of those already-overloaded servers will probably have to pay, or they could opt for moving all avatars from both the High and Low server to a Standard one for free. With time and proper notification for less-active subscribers, the Standard servers will become heavy enough to fully take advantage of the MMO aspects of the game. Holdouts will eventually either transfer or unsubscribe, allowing the Light server's population to eventually drop to zero. Then, the excess servers can be gradually trimmed away and escape the inevitable media outcry, as opposed to a sudden shutdown of several servers at once. Naming will likely still be an issue, and some of the transferring people will probably have to rename their characters' first and last names, and some guilds may require renaming as well. It'd be nice if they added a notice of some sort that says "A character named XXX already exists on this server! Do you wish to continue with the transfer to this server?" (as well as similar notice for Legacy names). Guilds would probably require reregistration on the new server, so a heads-up of that sort might not be possible. Nevertheless, they could coordinate their move, reform on the new server, and choose a new name if necessary. Yes, in the end, the servers are still being merged, just a with a bit of stealth. It also provides some freedom of choice, thereby avoiding some of the negative press and dodging the anger from some of users.
  21. Incredible Cross Sections are C-canon, per the same quote from Chee. Unless they contradict other materials... in which case, Chee reviews them and determines where to place them. You would find N-canon stuff, but not in the timeline section. The only N-canon stuff mentioned come in a later section about merchandise, parodies, etc. Also Palpatine and Plagueis don't directly create Anakin. The Force creates him in response to Plagueis's experiments with force-sensitive beings and/or to balance itself due to their rise in power.
  22. Thanks guys. The book is a pretty good overview... definitely worth checking out if you run across it. Its timeline also includes many of the C-canon events from major video games (including SWTOR and TFU), and provides a pretty good refresher on the major events, though admittedly some of the overviews are a tad brief. I may pick up the Complete SW Encyclopedia Set sometime. I'll bet Fett's survival in C-canon is included in there as well. Of course, by George's words, he's dead in G-canon, but his inclusion in the Guide would indicate that he is allowed to continue on in C-canon. Whether you consider it an alternate universe, one of the few allowed exceptions, or some other explanation, ultimately the OP's statement that Fett is technically both dead and alive was correct.
  23. I attempted to abstain from further involvement in this thread, but it still rages on. The fact that it's still in the timeline in the Visual Guide, which was updated less than a month ago, pretty much cements it as C-canon. The timeline ONLY covers G-, T-, and C-level canon. Remember this post? Though it borders on copyright infringement, here are two pics to support that post. I don't know what the source was, and I really don't care. The point is, Fett did get out of the Sarlaac, was subsequently rescued by Dengar, and even continued to run missions alongside Dengar until their falling out (ALL of that is in the same G/T/C-canon timeline).
  24. Not necessarily./. The intriguing thing (to me) is that it's set in 10 BBY, so he'll have to come back somehow. Second issue (of 4) comes out in next week!
