  1. Well for me, I tend to be more attached to a struggle when there is some sort of fleshed out personal background behind it. The final duel in return of the Jedi between Luke and vader was 3 movies deep with all sorts of knowledge from both sides. In phantom, we just knew maul was evil and obi wan and qui gon were good. That battle's high point is after maul kills qui gonn... When you are now seeing a personal emotion behind the fight... Don't get me wrong, I still love it all around heh... Just like the kao cen fight in the trailer got soooo intense when it was just him against the two sith. He made the sacrifice... And you hope he wins even though you know it's almost impossible.
  2. Not to geek out too hard here, but that is the first time they've fought a sith... They haven't been around for centuries... Sure, they spar with other Jedi and are versed against droids, aliens, etc... But they hadn't fought a full on force user with intent to kill in that era. Not to mention one with a saber staff (they weren't around for a while from what I understand and didn't come back till the New Jedi Order). My theory is, using the force, those moments of hesitation were "counter to a counter to a counter" of the famous Jedi "prediction". *shrug*
  3. Valid point... With force users being able to "predict" and such, it makes sense that saber duels do look so choreographed. The darth maul duel is definitely one of my all time favorites as well... Though there's not a lot of attached emotion behind it... Just amazing choreography. The second time an anakin fights darth tyranus is solid as well
  4. I'd like to see a flash point where a scouting ship is intercepted and you defeat them, sure... But that's about it. Id be more curious to see a whole new species introduced that never made it out of this time period for whatever reason... Or perhaps something like Caverns of Time from WoW where we can visit different time periods in star wars lore for a flash point, operation or warzone! No clue how to implement time travel without it being ridiculous though
  5. Yes but what's the point of strength when the beam can slice through ANYTHING? The only time it would be beneficial would be against another light saber... But at that point because of the beam, the force and agility, it's more about finesse anyway. Though malgus does swing viciously against kao cen in the Return trailer. Ah well, fun discussion... And to the guy that makes his own sabers.... Umm... Wow. Detailed reply at least!
  6. I'm not too up on the lore outside the movies and a few books... but this is a debate I've had with a few friends. Are Lightsabers heavy, or fairly light weight? You see some Jedi/Sith wield them with a two handed grip... and the way they swing it, kind of like a big broadsword or claymore... then you have other Jedi/Sith that use them almost like a fencing sword... even dual wielding them at times... very acrobatic, etc. Is it based on the build? Is there a benefit to making the hilt heavier, since the beam itself shouldn't have any weight to it, right? Lightsaber 101.... haha
  7. Hah nice to see other people enjoyed seeing Kao Cen as much as I did! Yes, clearly his abilities with a lightsaber are absolutely ridiculous... and I would love to read or maybe even SEE more of him in that regard, but I also would like to know about his background. He was SO stoic, unshaken... in the face of such improbable odds. Lets break it down: - First time any Jedi openly faced Sith in almost 300 years (from what I understand, the events in that trailer are the first time the Sith Empire return to Korriban in a loooong time) - He had complete faith in his apprentice (who, sure, turned out to be one bad mama herself... thanks to HIS training!) - Had to make sure the fight remained contained so the smuggler could prep his ship. - Had to keep his emotions in check... you see his clear surprise and urgency when he says "The Sith Empire has returned!" ... it's not like he's out doing some simple negotiations, he had to keep his **** together knowing that this was not just some renegade enemy. That said, it stands to reason that Darth Malgus is a mean sonofabeetch himself... since he DID take him down one on one... but I like to think Malgus was better prepared than Kao Cen heh. Still... that moment, when Kao gets both lightsabers and goes to work against the two of 'em... good lord. Doesn't get old.
  8. I agree... even if the original trilogy's lightsaber fights had more emotion behind them (MAYBE the hour long final duel in Revenge of the Sith had a lot of emotion... but it was so long!) ... the choreography in the new ones was amazing and I'm glad they kept getting better and better. But ah well... hopefully one day there will be a book for him... I personally feel he deserves his story told up to his heroic death.
  9. For some reason I really, really liked the little I saw of him... from the stoic, calm manner and how he seemed to care for Sateele so much to the insane, pure baller status moment 2v1'ing Sith with a single AND dual lightsaber. Anyone know if there's any media out there with him in it? Books, comic, etc? Thanks!

  11. I think it's very possible... as long as player number are capped... obviously it's not realistic if it's 100+ vs 100+... but a 20 vs 20 is feasable... WoW does it with their BG's on a game 7 years old... I'm sure Bioware can make something like this possible. But... yes... first things first... lets get ability delay taken care of first!
  12. I was JUST thinking that last night... even logged out without even getting to a resting area because it was a little irritating. The travel time to action ratio is horrific, atleast on Tattooine. BUT, I still love the game... ...so far.
  13. Most reassuring to know Bioware is putting in the effort early on.
  14. I was just thinking that the other day. I want SWTOR to be just like WoW in terms of gameplay and versatility. Hopefully Bioware will get there... There is no shame in copying off the behemoth MMO, trust me... Star Wars is a MUCH larger brand name than Warcraft. If Bioware can get the game close enough to WoW's gameplay and moddability, it'll reign.
  15. I love this game. But I wish it was more like WoW. Just how it is, can't help it. WoW is just so polished... unfair benchmark is unfair, but that's just how it is. I don't plan on returning to WoW any time soon... I'm hoping Bioware keeps tuning the game.
  16. I liked taxi'ing around Nar Shadaa more than actually running around. Makes me wish we could visit all those crazy looking buildings!
  17. Lets say in the ideal world, Bioware fixes the combat responsive issues, the small bugs littering the game, etc. etc... Lets look ahead to what the expansion might be... and IMAGINE the possibilities! Place: Any server Time: Primetime The Empire and the Republic now have access to Guild Capital Ships, purchased through either mass amounts of credits or certain guild feats to be performed by the largest and most dedicated guilds. These ships can house up to XXX players at a time and have a new feature: Jump to local enemy faction Fleet space... but not without Alerting all available players of the enemy faction. Once there, these capital ships must engage one of certain Empire/Republic Fleet flagships in two ways... Space Battle or Boarding Party. A generous timer will also begin, which is the allowed time before the Enemy Fleet can amass other warships to come defend the invaded Flagship. The Boarding party, as you may imagine by now, would be a group of XX players/npcs that must take over certain parts of the enemy flagship, and eventually kill the Captain of the flagship. The enemy faction will be able to emergency shuttle (teleport) XX available players from their home Fleet Station to the invaded Flagship, and they must do what they can to hold the enemy. If there are not enough players, elite NPCs will be sent in their place until a player can take their place. Meanwhile, out in space... player/npc manned fighters will defend the Capital Ship from player/npc manned fighters from the enemy Flag Ship. By now, Bioware will have introduced some form of new space flight engine. If too much damage is done to the Capital Ship, the Boarding Party suffers and must retreat or be killed and revived back at their home Fleet while the Capital Ship retreats. Rewards: If the Boarding Party is succesful before the enemy fighters weaken the Capital Ship, two things will happen: - Depending on the Flagship attacked, a section of the losing Fleet Station will become unavailable (or prices severely spiked) for XX amount of time. - The invading and succesful Capital Ship will bring back the equipment, items, credits, etc. from the conquered Flagship, and the same section of the invading Fleet Station will have their prices lowered, bonus items being sold, etc. for XX amount of time. -There will be standard PvP rewards given as well, for kills, heals, damage, etc. .... okay, enough dreaming. Just thought I'd share. I love this game and the possibilities. I hope Bioware knows there are quite a few of us that want to make this game our new MMO home
  18. Don't really know how they can do this though... maybe in an expansion? Right now from everything I've seen, all the "planets" are extremely linear with very little open world travel. So being in a huge hallway isn't really optimal for this kind of idea. What I would LOVE to see is if large guilds could purchase capital ships that could travel near the opposing factions home fleet and cause all kinds of ruckus with boarding parties, etc. etc. They could mass hire all kinds of players for a small fee for a week or so and attack certain ships of the enemy fleet... the boarding party must kill the captain of the ship while fighting off enemy players/npcs while the out in space both player and npc manned fighters attack the ships from the outside while defending their own capital ship against opposing enemy fighters. If the invading faction succeed, depending on what Fleet ship was destroyed, a section of the main station would be shut down for a few hours or so. ... I don't know... just day dreaming.
  19. Yea where's my Orgrimmar with everything in a nice convenient location then we can go outside for duels and random enemy faction invasions. ... only 50% joking btw.
  20. Expansion! They gotta keep/bring people back somehow! Coming in 2014: Star Wars: The Old Republic: The New Jedi Order - Play as the Yuuzhang Vong! - Explore the new Galaxy of *insert random name* - Combine never before seen Species/Class combinations... like... Chiss Jedi Smuggly Hunter! - DANCE STUDIO
  21. We need SOME form of a LFG tool. Yes, there are a few groups of players that don't have this problem, guilds that migrated here from WoW, Rift, etc... but for the GREAT majority of players, who only have an hour or two a day TOPS, time in game needs to be spent doing something fun, not sitting idle in Fleet spamming /1 waiting and begging. I'm sure it's in the works. But there are quite a few things that need to be implemented before a LFG tool.
  22. I will continue my sub for now, as I'm thoroughly enjoying the game so far... BUT: - Combat needs to be smoother and responsive - UI should be allowed to be edited. - Certain game conveniences should be implemented for lasting appeal: LFG tool (whether it be same server or cross server, it needs SOMETHING... spamming /1 for 30-40 minutes is not immersive), name search function in the Galactic Trade (AH), chat bubbles, sound in background when in windowed mode, etc) - PvP "balancing" ...though i'll admit this isn't a huge priority compared to the rest. Bottom line is the game is fun right now, but it's not catered to the casual, not-all-day-to-play gamer that WoW has created and pleased. To have a lasting appeal, especially to the millions of us that have no desire to roll alts over and over again, these and certainly other features/fixes have to be in place, and they have to be in place soon! Again, I love this game and have no intention to return to WoW anytime soon. But I say this with the hopeful assumption that Bioware will do what needs to be done.
