  1. i would buy companion gear

you definitely won't be able to gear up your alts with it

and the crafting boxes - anyone actually know if they contain some goodies and not a random green/blue/purple crap?

  2. What makes is worse is that the force users also have knockbacks and snares. In relation to huttball, they have a huge advantage.

but you need to understand that in huttball people take on various roles

some are ball carriers, some are protectors of the balll carriers, some are controling the middle of the map and some are just wreaking havoc in the opposition

find your role and do it proper :-)

  3. I'm an Operative with half champion and half Battlemaster gear while I hit roughly 3.5K crits on lesser geared Scoundrels while they take off 3/4 of my health with their opener. Please stop nerfing Imps while ignoring far my overpowered Repubs.

On the particular server I play Repubs win 85% + of the War Zones both in 50s and lowbees. Just by chance Imps should win more often, if it weren't for much stronger classes on the repubs, mostly because Imps are constantly nerfed while Repubs are ignored. I don't have an issue with the nerfing of my class and others as long as the equivalent class on Repubs are equally nerfed, which clearly isn't the case.

lesser geared scoundrels based on what? in my first weeks when i had only champion weapons and maybe 2-3 champion armor parts i was having 42% crit rate and 78% surge rating thanks to some nice purple mods and implants

with my relics and adrenals on i could crit for 4200 on a well geared player and about 4800 on a badly geared player.

pretty much you're doing something wrong, but that's understandable - i've seen more bad operatives than scoundrels

  4. it is better because premades play in lvl 50 warzones and they usually know what they are doing

the solo players are usually better when it comes to knowledge of their class but when it comes to playing as a team - usually not so much (and there is a simple reason for that: if you have a good understanding about warzones you will know to group up and not go solo)

but it's a two edged sword, you can easily get the pugs and be facing premades which usually means that you're gonna lose that warzone :-)

however - i would worry more about the gear difference, so what if you're a good player when there is artificial difference (called expertise) between you and almost every other player? (they hit you for 15% more and you hit them for 15% less)

and that is on top of the stat difference between your rating 116-124 (not sure if you can get more as a fresh 49 dinging to 50) and theirs 136-140.

  5. Just learned what resolve was.

How is that fair? Immune to CC?

devs gave too many stuns/knockbacks to classes so they had to implement some anti-cc mechanism otherwise you could put a player in a permanent stun which might sound cool to you but certainly isn't to the stunned player :-)

  6. does not surprise me to see imperial players badmouthing ("losers", "baddies", "fagggg", "i *** you in wz"), really mature you guys are.... not.

well, props for having "zerg fun" on tatooine instead of ilum, but like one of the republic guys said -> don't be chicken and fight near your respawn :-)

  7. First of all - turn ON the resolve bar display in the options - then you will know if your knockback will work or not.

If enemy is close to your line - it usually means there are some players from your team behind that guy - spamming CC skills (filling the resolve bar immediatelly).

As for the other thing, it's either a bug or a lag problem (by lag i mean - you think you see him where he is but actually he is a bit closer so he will be pushed into different direction).

Or two skills could coincide, just yesterday I used my shoot first that puts enemy to the ground while someone used his knockback on my target, the result? Our target was thrown out of bound of the accessible area of the map very fast. Was very fun to see, but evidently a bug :)

  8. Saw the first couple posts, skipped most of the thread so i could quickly ask:

What kind of friggin doofus clown shoe wants the game to end faster just because they are going to lose!?!?? I WANT to play those extra couple of minutes! Hell I probably just spent ten minutes waiting for a friggin queue to pop! I WANT to play to the last second because it is FUN!

If you want to make something efficient, go organize your collection of graphing calculators dork. I'm gonna play a pvp match as long as I want!

Well, if you're a masochist then I can understand why you would like to experience that till the end.

However if they capped 3 towers that usually means they outgear your team, have more tanky chars and/or more healers (and are in a premade).

I'm not sure what you would find fun in a game where you die almost instantly, are unable to kill any opponents.

  9. And without the elite + strong groups? how much fun would you have had?

The described situation is not really an OW-PvP paradigm.

Without the elites I would not approach 4 enemies alone, I'm not suicidal.

However my class was perfect for guerilla warfare. One on one was usually no biggie, but I could tackle one on two with patience - I would wait till one has low health or they are both engaged in mob fight and use the element of surprise to my advantage.

  10. Or maybe she was afraid of what happens in like 70% of the OW-PvP encounters when you are on republic side: As soon as you engage in the fight more imps than the total number of repub players on your planet will show up to roast you.

There is no incentive for a single player on the outnumbered side to pick up a fight.

it is if you are a stealther

my lvl30~ scoundrel had lots of fun on alderaan where four imperials tried to do some heroic4 quest and i made it impossible for them :-)

they left after 10 or so minutes

  11. You realize that legacy abilities have a huge CD and aren't usable in PvP, right?

technically fighting in the open world is also pvp and you can have your companion out (well, except the left side of ilum)

so, they are usable in some pvp :-)

but that was already mentioned by kronomandar, however i was too lazy to read the second page before i made the post :)

  12. I absolutely 100% agree with the OP.

Tho im also one of those people who have been playing MMO's since the mid 90's.

We lack epeen and grind, which is a shame tbh. But like all younger generations its the easy way out that is going to be favoured. The quick buck and the zero workload is todays method of getting people interested in your games.

    Its a sad development imo.

    "we lack epeen and grind"

what kind of value a grind provides? doing repetitive tasks is neither challenging nor fun.

i know what a true grind is, i played a korean (yes) mmo and staying up late or waking up at 3am because of a double exp event (so i could get 10% instead of 5% for an hour) was nothing unusual for me

the joy of "dinging" was great, but the realization that you're at 0% again - not so much.

there is only one purpose of grind - it is there to keep players busy till a new content update arrives; after all if you have nothing to do in a game - you won't play it (and therefore - not pay for it).

but the solution is to make those grinds not feel like grinds (and introducing the ranked pvp is just that - the rating that you will "grind" is something fun - you can compare it with others and of course try to be higher, therefore - play more).

another solution would be to introduce more mini games (pod racing would be great - especially if you could race other players / or a pvp duels in brackets with "there can be only one" in the end).

farming social point is not a fun grind, farming valor is not a fun grind (BW fortunatelly realized that and removes the valor requirements) - i'm not sure why people want more of such grind instead of more fun activities

  13. The point of the PvP match is to attack and kill other players. I do not PvP for rewards or titles or gear, I PvP with the sole intention to attack and kill other player characters.

My general mentality is that if I must lose; my enemy's victory will be expensive and bloody.

Nope, that's a means to an end. Your primary goal is to win a warzone. Killing enemy players of course helps a lot but you can actually win the warzone without killing a single enemy.

That being said - I enjoy a good fight and sometimes I will even disregard the warzone objectives (being republic and having 4 huttballs in a row can do that to you :p) just so I could focus on killing enemies :-)

  14.

    http://i856.photobucket.com/albums/ab129/apocalypse32100/swtor_2012_03_19_19_34_31_610.jpg

That would have been higher, but I got stuck in a falling animation (so no master strike, no stasis, no jumping over barriers, ect) for a good 5 minutes of that warzone.

those numbers are amazing, very nice :-)

and another question: what's your average dps value for warzones?

Ethurian wrote that for him its 700k, which i highly doubt.

  15. While yes you can use other classes enhancements in your battlemaster gear i would try your hardest to not do so even if it is a better upgrade now.

When 1.2 comes out bm gear gets auto upgraded to the newer better gear but if you switch out mods you keep the same mods even after 1.2 they will not become the better mods that all bm gear is getting.

is there a page that lists all the new battlemaster mods bonuses?

unfortunatelly bioware + upgrade does not equal profit, so i'd rather see what they mean by it before i reverse my gear back to original mods

  16. Also, world PvP is not half as fun as it sounds. It usually involves having to wait for more people and zerging a minor group with low FPS. I dont see whats so appealing about it.

The only reason i did world PvP in Illum was for the daily and weekly bags, and most often i wouldnt even bother cause it involves incredible ammounts of waiting around for the opposite faction and so on and forth.

Sorry to say, but World PvP is boring.

Or rather World PvP is boring in the games you've played.

There was a grindy (or semi grindy) korean mmo that was also westernized and the name of it was DEKARON and it had great open world pvp.

There were no factions and except the starting zones you could attack anyone.

There were of course guilds so various guilds were in war with each other and some had formed alliances.

Not much to do PvE wise (couple of dungeons) so if anyone needed help (because he was being attacked) - lots of people rushed to help and it could quickly escalate to a big fight and various allied guilds would join in.

And it was easy to start such things - there were no quests so you were mostly killing mobs, and there were of course some better grinding spots and people would fight over them.

And if you saw enemy players groupping up for a dungeon? Even if they were lower levels - you would usually go and try to kill them :-)

On top of that the dueling system was not blocked in main locations (why SWTOR, oh why?) and you could also duel as a team (would teleport you to an arena) so you could practice your skills.

Open PvP in SWTOR is a joke, people do it because they want to get their daily/weekly done and then to farm some valor. So they group up and zerg because it's most efficient.

In DEKARON you get no rewards for your kills, except seeing cries of the fallen enemies, which IMHO was so much better. Hell, sometimes you could even made the enemy player leave his guild :-) (and no, there was no spawn camp, you always spawned in the safe zone, and traveling to non safe zone was always with 30 sec of immunity so no such crap like camp spawning in this game).

The pvp wasn't perfect there but it was so much better than any other mmo game that i've tried.

  17. Watchman, half a brain, 1-2 fingers, reach 6-700k SINGLE target damage each warzone.

    The end.

damn, my server's population is quite high but we all must be terribads as i've never seen a sentinel or marauder reach 700k in a warzone.

the best i've seen was around 550k on voidstar and he had a good healer on him.

maybe you just saw the 'sith warrior' / 'jedi knight' and assumed marauder/sentinel while in fact it was juggernaut/guardian? they can reach 1 million damage so getting to that 600k/700k would be much easier for them.

  18. there were only two situations in which i would run out of energy:

    1) when i was tagging people with my dot (vital shot on the republic side) and that was when dots were still interrupting the actions

    2) when i was fighting a target that would get some help (healing from other person or a shield etc)

in an usual fight you should not have energy problems (if you do, try popping pugnacity)

however i had more damage thanks to the biochem stim and adrenals so the enemies were getting killed a bit faster :)

  19. the way i see it:

you either had great fun during those 30 Days, 11 Hours, 55 Minutes or you wasted that time.

if it's the first - well, that's good, that's what games are for, if you think that you won't have great time anymore on that character - try new character (or change a game that might be more fun for you)

if it's the latter however - you should really think over what you want from this game, as you already know it's not the fun factor; do you want to feel appreciated? or feel superior to others? i don't know but maybe a psychiatrist could help you figure this out?

  20. Expertise and separate gear sets exist to prevent the aquisition of gear NEEDED for HM/NM progression without the effort of completing the requisite difficulties.

    This guy gets it.

if that was the goal then PvE gear would have some synthetic stat that would work on PvE mobs (so pvp gear could not be comparable)

besides, you still can... my alt did not PvE HM flashpoints/normal operations but went into nightmare EV and did the first three bosses without a wipe.. (no pve gear...)

edit: sorry for double post, i wanted to edit the earlier post but failed :)

  21. Expertise does serve a purpose, seperating PvP and PvE. If there was no expertise, PvE'ers would just faceroll the warzones. Also, it takes like a week to get full champ gear, suck it up and then you can use your "skill" to kill people

Please explain how would PvE'ers just faceroll the warzones

if you remove the expertise and of course bump the stats to be comparable with pve gear - why would pvers faceroll in warzones?

do you mean that pve'rs are better in general and given the equal footing - would just own pvpers ? i hope you're not implying that because it's just bull.

i don't see a point in separating pvp gear from pve gear... it only makes people who enjoy both aspects of the game grind more (to get both sets)

ah and btw, rakata mods/enhancements are better that battlemaster... if someone wants to have an edge - he gets battlemaster and he gets rakata, then he mixes best of both and gets even better gear for pvp (battlemaster with rakata mods); pure pvp guy doesn't have that option.
