  3. Classes that are this easy to play and require very little skill shouldn't have this level of power... It's just that simple... If you deny the obvious then you are part of the problem.

  5. I agree I just think that the return on investment is too easy for a class that is so easily played... It should be hard to do the damage a vanguard does... and it simply is not...

  8. I've been using the pvp conqueror power relic in conjunction with the Matrix cube(fully augged) and find that it gives me about a static hundred extra strength. Isn't this better then using the vendor pve relic? Or am I just a noob?
  9. I'm not so optimistic. The devs would have to go in and redesign every zone to have a new class instance and new cut scenes for every new story arc. Your talking about a lot of time spent developing that. Developing new animations when you have a development team that is prepping for the launch of a new mmo is a lot different then having a game that you are trying to sustain. This bioware team probably has half the developers that they had at launch, so again it is a huge hurtle for them to develop a new class with all new animations. The math you use here is touchy. You quote a potential figure of 2.25 million to make this happen. The problem is that I don't know if that adds up. How much money does bioware pay its employees? I'm guessing average salary is 80-100k per year. So if they have a development team that is 200 people which I think is a good estimate then the numbers get a little less simple then what you have laid out. Let's not forget the competition which is Wildstar and Teso coming out this year. You might not want to invest that much capital into an mmo that will be two years old by that point when the competition is that strong. This all being said, I think your idea is brilliant and bioware should do it tomorrow because I would want to play that class, But the video games business is an industry and it all comes down to money.
  10. I really like the idea. I like how you destroy your detractors too. It's easy and necessary to shoot down someone else's idea when the best you can come up with is some half baked, weak sauce droid idea. My question is in regards to actual financial viability. Right now the game supposedly has about 450,000-500,000 subs and the dev team has to push out a new raid every 3-4 months, new flashpoints, new pvp content, fix bugs, rebalance classes constantly, and they are supposedly developing a space project as well. I know you said that you would charge 10 bucks because it would be new digital expansion content, but do you really think that it will pay for all the voice actors, redesign of zones, and just sheer bulk of new content that will have to be added. And even if it did... I don't think bioware would do it. EA wouldn't let them. To big a risk. Hope I'm wrong and they implement your idea though, because it would be awesome
  11. I basically agree, From my tanking with it in heroic FP's my threat basically sux. Its hard to keep mobs and even the boss on you. I can't imagine doing an operation with a hybrid spec, but maybe its viable.

  13. Let me just say that I haven't played GW2 yet, but it looks promising and I'll give it a try. I consider myself a casual pvp'er and I like to do it in swtor because it's fun, however it is a massive grind if you want to be competitive. Alot of people dont have or wanna put in the time it takes to be competitive, and get turned off when they are getting blown up in pvp because they are undergeared.
  14. With players of equal skill level the lvl 49 player would win.... of course, but when I was in the 20's and 30's I was consistently competitive in warzones and frequently topped dps charts. As soon as a player hits 50 though and jumps into recruit gear they get smashed by even players of lesser skill. That's the problem in swtor. A player who might like to log on for a few days a week and do some ranked pvp can't do it because its a massive grind where you have to grind out tens of thousands of warzone comms and a million plus creds for augments for your main and any alts you might have. So the player just unsubs. Thats why swtor lost alot of its subscribers.
  15. In guild wars, from what I understand, it doesn't have a gear grind in pvp like swtor does. In GW2 you get different gear that looks cooler on your toon. Swtor is all about the gear grind and is stat based. So much so that playing as a new 50 in recruit gear is not even fun. Your just gonna get stomped, especially against a lvl 50 in war hero gear with full augments. I think that pvp is the funnest from lvl 10-49 where gear has a minimal effect and everyones stats are similar or the same. Ideally you want to play a game because the gameplay is fun, not play to get better gear. This is a problem that swtor has imo.
  16. Why do knights that have a really high defense rating compared say to a trooper not make drastically better tanks than troopers? If defense is a paramount stat then you would think the tank with the highest defense would win.
  17. I've done nm karragas and nm denova as a scrapper spec, but if I were really serious I would do dirty fighting spec for operations. It's really good dot damage and you can get a nice rotation going I haven't really done the numbers but I suspect its more damage over the long haul.

  19. Yeah I basically kind of agree with you. I think that all the supposed aoe threat generation that they did was lame. They should have just boosted the damage cyclone slash and force sweep did and it would have been fine. The dps output for a guardian tank needs to be increased overall imo. Most people are running hybrid specs now anyway for guardian tanks to optimize their tanking. Its not supposed to be like that and I suspect bioware will address this in the future. I just hope they dont do it by moving some defense and mitigation talents further up the defense tree.

  21. I tried this spec out in hm ec and it was pretty brutal for the healers to heal me on kephess, but i wasnt continually poping adrenals and im not fully auged out yet. You lose damage mitigation and i was taking about 50k more per boss fight damage than our other guardian tank, but i was doing 70-80k more damage than our other guardian tank who is def specced. As far as I can tell this spec is totally viable for endgame right now as long as adrenals are brought along. I think im gonna continue to roll it. Thanks for long thread by the way.   22. I think that specing into the defense tree is largely a waste of time. As far as I can tell hilt strike and guardian slash are basically worthless damage/threat wise when compared to overhead slash. This obsession that bioware has with tanks generating more aoe threat is strange to me. I dont know why the did it. I think that they basically broke the defense tree and made it so everyone has to use hybrid specs now.
