  1. The credit limit for F2P/Preferred should not be removed (though the ceiling could use some adjusting given in-game inflation) but the emailing of credits should be taken out because like I said, it is a redundant restriction if BW is still intending on using "credit sellers" as the reason. That excuse simply doesn't have the logical backing given the plethora of other safeguards already in place. In any case, even after the "mail credit" restriction is removed, there are still many significant differences separating F2P from subscribers. Reduced XP gain (no rest XP), longer quick travel options, less crew skills, far fewer server character slots, lower commendation awards, retricted access to operations and warzones, just to name a few. All of those feature differences are important for F2P/preferred players whether they are crafters, end-game enthuthiasts, PVPers, or alt-holics and frankly, if they haven't subscribed by now, they probably never will. On the other hand, I highly doubt the lifting of a single "mailing credits" restriction is going to spur a bunch of existing subscribers to cancel, only to get bumped down to preferred and get hit with all those other limitations I listed above. Once you have tasted Kobe beef it is hard to swallow salisbury steak on a daily basis, at least for me. Quite true. But it doesn't mean it was an informed and intelligent decision. In fact in my opinion, this decisions is on the level of "speeding in the HOV lane during rush hour while on a suspended license".
  2. *Only* if the characters you're mailing is in the same guild or friend list and the same faction. There are many of us who have characters in different guilds and both factions. Auto-populated does not work in those instances. It's high time for BW to remove the credit mailing restriction for F2P/Preferred anyway. With the limited amount of credits they can hold, this supposed method to curb credit selling activities is flat out redundant if not pointless. Then there is also the fact that even F2P/Preferred players can make friends in the game who can in turn help them circumvent that restriction. I do it all the time for two of my preferred friends. Long version short, maintaining particular restrictions on F2P/Preferred is no excuse for not implementing a QoL feature, especially one that is very much expected given how hard BW has been pushing Legacy for nearly everything else.
  3. I never understood why the credit limits for F2P and preferred were set to such low figures considering how easy is it is to accumulate credits in-game. The existence of 600k escrow transfers on the cartel market is also quite baffling considering F2P/preferred can't hold that much and subs don't need it to begin with. Seems like that particular consumable has effectively become a BW sanctioned conduit to subscriber profiteering. Loansharking and paycheck lenders come immediately to mind. And no, I'm not a F2P or preferred player, not even for a single day. I have however played several other MMOs with basic/premium/subscription options and the TOR model does seem excessively restrictive in comparison.
  4. The story aspect wasn't all I was referring to. Let me put it this way. Among the TOR community there definitely exists a "cult hero" status for Revan. Many a guilds with Revan's name in it. People running around fleet wearing Revan's mask, belt or even Revan related character title. Revan holestatues popping up literally everywhere and soon, real larger-than-life Revan statues coming to a stronghold near you. BW certainly has done their best to market the single most memorable character in TOR franchise history. In fact, they are milking the heck out of it. My Revan fatigue encompasses all of the above factors.
  5. I hope it will too. I need about 100 helixes for those Gree wall lights.
  6. Don't be ridiculous. There is nothing outdated about enforcing faction based boundaries. I'm no hardcore lore proponent but the simple fact remains that the entire theme behind SWTOR, correction, behind the Star Wars universe is the eternal struggle between the Empire and the Republic, between the Jedi and the Sith. Quite literally fire and water. This fact hasn't changed just because BW decided to throw us a curve ball and introduced Revanites as a temporary new third faction threatening both sides. Beyond this common enemy of the moment, there are few reasons for Jedis and Siths to partner up to do other operations and flashpoints. That very idea sounds about as absurd as Gandalf and Sauron calling a truce so they can team up for a decade long jaunt across Middle Earth. Of course, some cross-faction proponents may argue that BW could just make this upcoming 3.0 operation an exception to the rule but even that is a terrible idea. Simply put, BW wouldn't be able to control the aftermath as legions of gamers will undoubtedly pester them to apply that feature to all existing content. Let me be abundantly clear on this by stating that on the internet, there is definitely no shortage of complainers armed with a rather tenuous grasp on logic but I digress. As such, it is better to not implement the option in the first place as it is the most foolproof way to head off that incessant whine-fest.
  7. This is a false equivalence fallacy. To acquire the roughly 1200 ultimate commendations needed to upgrade a character to "full 180" usually takes weeks, if not months for most players. This is not even counting the need to find MH/relics crafters and the inevitabe purchase of additional pieces to properly optimize. With that said, even if someone has multiple level 55's to run those *easy* operations with, it will still take days to accomplish the task given time constraints. In contrast, one single day is all one would need to acquire all of the relevant datacrons for a character. Datacrons have always been a completely optional part of the end-game stat calculation. If BW boosted the stat bonuses too much then it will be pushed into "must have" category, a total contradiction of its original intent. On the other hand, if BW only boosted the stat gain by 1 or 2 per datacron then what is the point since the benefits will still remain negligible?
  8. Personally, I'm tired of Revan also. The dude switches sides more often than your average congressman. I just hope that at the conclusion of "destroy Revan" operation there would be a cut scene with my character stabbing Revan in the abdomen with a dull spork, finally putting him out of his misery.
  9. BW could just give us a "show this character on legacy friend lists?" toggle for each of our characters. Default setting would be "not visible" until we change it. Legacy friend list would be extremely useful and make the existing friend lists look far less cluttered. Of course the fact that the awesome byproduct of "legacy ignore list" coming along with it is just the cherry on top.
  10. Datacrons are too easy to get so the stats boost they give right now is fine. What should be buffed are those matrix cubes. They are about as useless as birthright/inheritance gear currently. At the minimum BW should put in a new upgrade path in the upcoming expansion.
  11. Wonderful. The amount of hours you spent leveling up your characters is of little consequence (or relevance) to anyone but yourself. No, not really. Virtual accomplishments are fleeting and temporary in nature especially when it comes to MMORPGs that generally have a life cycle of several years. Under such circumstances, something you once held great pride over being rendered irrelevant just a few short months later is to be expected. As if legacy emotes were of such great importance to begin with. Of all the things you could've chosen to complain about, going with this one is pretty darn petty IMO. Nope, assinine general assumption at its worst. I'm a founder too and I could care less about how much time you spent leveling or how badly you want to feel "special" about your virtual accomplishments. I have learned my lessons long ago (try EQ or UO) that holding such pride over data kept on a server somewhere is quite meaningless if not downright foolish in the long run. Hint: 200 hours is pissant compared to the leveling progression of first generation MMORPGs.
  12. Better yet. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=764899 http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=740026 http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=760865 Pick one of those to bump or bump them all. People have been asking for the current mission skill system to be changed for years but BW in all their wisdom has decided to just ignore it
  13. Sigh, more people getting worked up over what is essentially a staged photo op. "Dude, that guy running for the senate held up a baby and kissed it on TV last night! What a super friendly and down to earth guy! Imma vote for him for sho."
  14. All of that qualifies as brand new QoL features which coincidentally requires far more coding work than the existing subscriber rewards with *no* such requirement. With 3.0 just around the corner, do you really think BW is going to spend a bunch of their human resources on pre-order/subscribers rewards as opposed to the expansion itself? All in the name of pleasing a few outliers such as yourself? I mean come on, be realistic here. Based on the expectation level you have for what proper subscriber/pre-order rewards should look like, you have effectively set yourself up for disappointment from the get-go and that's nobody's fault but your own.
  15. Allies *for now*. If you're basing your whole assumption of Jedi and Sith fighting side by side without complications around that single photo op then I'm sorry, it really doesn't mean much. Then there is also the fact that betrayal is a rather common theme and plot twist which BW employs all the time. Simply look to the class stories for countless examples: Haven't played through the Trooper or Consular but somehow I expect betrayal to be at least part of the story. And I'm not even including the various companion side stories which involve even more betrayals. Who is to say that BW won't use that very plot device once again?
  16. Not quite. Forged Alliance can have two very divergent meanings. The first meaning is what you have already mentioned, the forging or shaping of an alliance between the Empire and Republic in the face of this great Revanite threat. The second meaning is that this temporary alliance is in fact fraudulent as neither side is truly commited to trusting the other. Eventually, that friction and distrust will lead to one of the "allied" factions backstabbing the other the moment an opportunity present itself. Personally, I think the second interpretation is far more plausible given the high levels of animosity and inherent incompatibility dividing the Empire and Republic. My theory is that the Republic will end up striking first and betray the Empire, forcing it to exhaust its resources against the Revanites, in turn contributing to its eventual defeat thus being more consistant with established lore. Empire and Republic (or Sith and Jedi) happily fighting side by side is just far too... fairy tale like to be considered a good piece of story telling.
  17. No way. Some players will undoubtedly max out their ultimate comms before launch, hoping that they will be able to get 2-3 pieces of the "new" ulti gear right off the bat. BW and just about every other MMO developer are too smart to not prepare for that eventuality. Most likely we will see a new tier added to commendations for the level 60 stuff.
  18. As long as the new WZs (for unranked at least) don't include more Huttballs or Arenas.
  19. Reset those 16 AC's to level 1 so they can fully enjoy the 12x exp gain over and over and over and over and over and over.
  20. *****WARNING***** This is a legal "cease and desist" order. The term "grinding (™)" is a legally registered trademark that is only applicable to first or second generation MMOs such as Everquest, Asheron's Call, Final Fantasy 11 and so on. The usage of "grinding (™)" to describe the lolwut leveling progression in current generation of MMOs such as SWTOR is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, such continued misuse may result in permanent brain damage and lost internet credibility. *End legal order*
  21. Free Revan statue for everyone! But if you already have a Revan statue.... The Revan statue now sells a full set of Revan armor for 1000 credits each piece!
  22. It doesn't really matter which side is objectively more "evil" in this fictional Star Wars universe. The degree and severeness of atrocities are virtual to begin with so it lacks the tangible emotional and consequential impact that real life events would have. The entire Ewok or Wookie races could be wiped out by the Empire in the most demeaning, barbaric and torturous way possible and I will still shrug and say "oh well, let's go run DF!" With that said, despite your efforts to argue that the Republic is inherently more "good" than Empire (which is true), the fact remains that much of the Republic is still just a grand facade, a pretty front painted with naive ideologies while many unsavory elements lurks in the background going un-addressed. In contrast, despite all of the infighting and plotting, the Empire is quite clear in what they are trying to achieve, displaying all the brutality and ugliness front and center. Why bother hiding it if the entire universe already knows of its totalitarian nature? Now keep in mind that your character has little power to fundamentally change the guiding ideals governing each faction due to the way the stories are written, the only question that remains pertaining to which side to choose boils down to: Do you want to play as just another cog in a complicated machine (Republic) which you have little lasting influence over and is constrained by dogmatic ideals at every turn? Or, do you want to play as someone in a nominally Darwinian system (Empire) where achieving greater power for yourself is a distinct possibility given the wide variety of methods available for you to deploy? I'm a very direct person so the choice was rather obvious for me. One quick glance at the endless internal politicking of the Republic is enough for me to go "no thanks, I get enough of that at work". Of course playing politics is also present within the Empire but the method of resolution is usually much easier, offing your opponent or make them your woman. Direct and no non-sense. In conclusion, the one thing you are forgetting that games like TOR is just a form of entertainment. I suspect a lot of people do not wish to indulge in entertainment mediums that is reflective of what they see in reality. Seriously, the Republic Senate is a mirror image of our dysfunctional US Congress so how can you possibly claim that "you don't understand" why people would not want to have a front row seat to observe that mess?
  23. This game should shut down immediately, all data wiped, pick a new graphics engine and start over from scratch. Well okay I don't actually want the above to happen but rather just threw it out there for the heck of it.
  24. Geez you people are fixated on this issue. How's this for a compromise then. Instead of putting arbitrary caps on crafting points, extend the time it takes to complete invasion force components to about 2 hours each, a roughly 3 fold increase from right now. This will certainly slow down the rate they are getting pumped out even with 5 companions going at it and thus, the rate conquest points are being earned through crafting. Alternatively... Invasion supplies would stop granting conquest points once the character hits his/her personal conquest point goal. The only exception would be during crafting week. Not perfect and I'm sure there are more fine tuning involved with both of these options but it's a start.
