  1. Eh, BW picked their poison and lost by choosing the beta version of the Hero engine. No excuse for that perhaps but that ship has long sailed. Given that the game is nearing 3 years old, it doesn't seem likely that BW would inclined to just "start over", so to speak. The hook/NPC limit sucks and I certainly want them to raise it but such demands has to be tempered with the realities that are facing TOR right now. Asking for a stronghold to accommodate 200 NPCs and 1000 decorations is simply not realistic.
  2. I take back the last sentence of my original post. The same bug just happened on my cybertech guy. Queued 5 industrial prefabs and then hopped over to DK stronghold, 1 disappeared. Re-queued another industrial prefab and hopped back to Tat stronghold and that one disappeared too. And no, no mats refund, just poofed. What the heck?
  3. Obviously you have not been paying attention to the problems plaguing BW's version of "Hero" engine. If you had played TOR since launch, all it takes is one session of "Ilum trading" for you to see the graphical limitations of this engine. Forget 60 FPS, you'd be lucky to get 5 FPS. It's the same reason behind why TOR operations and war zones are capped at 16 players. The only way BW can bypass these limitations is to scrap the engine all together and start over. That probably isn't possible this far into the game's lifecycle so the best we can hope for is for BW to optimize it and then raise the limits accordingly.
  4. Indeed. It would become the ideal tool for a seller to remove competitor's listings. Hours could go by before the targeted person switch over to their selling toon and notice that they have been de-listed. Maybe limit the "refund" to once a week/month per legacy. Learn 2 internet is a distinct possibility if someone needs to use it more often than that. In addition, tie in an automatic 10% "derp" penalty and 24 hour waiting period before the refund is mailed back to the buyer.
  5. Who cares. If people/guilds want to spend hundreds of millions on crafting invasion force to win a planet for that week, let them at it. Wise up and start running mats missions non-stop so you can profit off of their e-peen driven "machismo" contest. I was watching these two guilds go at it last week while laughing all the way to the bank (or mailbox). It's not as if most of those folks are "nice" either so there's definitely no remorse for taking advantage of the situation.
  6. Last night I was crafting on my artifice in my NS stronghold and I queued 3 synth prefrabs, a crystal and a design, in that exact order. I then hopped to my DK stronghold to refresh crew missions and noticed that the crystal and design disappeared from the queue, with only those 3 synth prefabs remaining. I checked my inventory and legacy hold to see if the mats were refunded, they weren't. Basically everything simply vanished into thin air. Artifice is the only character I've noticed this problem on, cybertech, armstech, armormech, biochem were all fine.
  7. Honestly, I don't even know why a player stronghold would need to support that many visitors at one time. For a guild stronghold or ship 50 would make sense but I somehow doubt 99.99% of all player strongholds would ever come close to having 50 players. With that said, NPC limit is probably required due to performance issues associated with the inherent limitations of the engine but there is no question that 25 is far too restrictive, especially if animal mounts and pets both count against it. Honestly BW needs to give us some work-arounds such as turning guards into standard non-selectable decorations, not unlike those we see on Korriban outside of the Academy. Or, they could simply halve the visitor cap to 25 (matching the achievement requirement) while correspondingly raise the NPC limit to 50 or even just 40. I would be perfectly content with either of those compromises. As for the number of hooks, I find that the limit is *reasonable* for DK/Coru and Nar Shaddaa though I definitely wouldn't object if BW chose to raise it. However when it comes to Tatooine, the hook limit is absurdly low given the sheer size and layout thus it needs to be raised by at least 50-100.
  8. Same. The first few days after the Constable's pack came out, I had to take down some trophies just to make room for the new stuff. Basically made the walls in some areas look barren in order to make other rooms look semi "finished". Given that Tatooine doesn't even have any lag issues that I've noticed (unlike Nar Shaddaa), there is no excuse for BW to drag their feet on this.
  9. Shrugs, maybe Satele just likes them big. Inside every "good" girl there is a bad one waiting to get out ya know.
  10. Just like how you would do it in the real world to motivate customers and employees.... "cash incentive" (well, credits at least).
  11. Garbage displeases me. Especially garbage that's viewable by the public. Are you one of those slobs who refuses to mow your front lawn only to tell the neighbors to "get over it"? Obtuse reasoning. I actually have an aesthetic sense so perhaps you should develop one as well. *Yawn* You bore me with your petty taunts and inane commentary. Try harder.
  12. If people want to spam their stronghold with basic items or mounts just to get conquest bonus, that's fine because that's the way the SH bonus system is designed. Heck, I use my DK SH as a dumping ground for unused/replaced decors but I rarely visit it outside of quick pit-stops to refresh crew skills. It is certainly not publicly listed, just the very idea makes me laugh hysterically. That's the main quibble I have, eyesore filler SHs like that shouldn't be on public listings and so I have a rather simple solution. BW needs to set a "minimal unique decorations" requirement to qualify a SH for public listing. This limit could even be set as low as 20% of the total amount of hooks a SH has (100 unique decorations for Tatooine as an example). Having such a barrier in place should prevent people from putting in 50 basic chairs, beds, tool shelves, lights, mounts and then dump it onto public listing to show off their "impeccable" aesthetic sense. That's just garbage and thus it should be treated as such. Honestly, there are over 100 unique decorations to choose from just at the crafted and basic vendors alone so setting such a minimal requirement for public listing is hardly unreasonable. After adding in those other decorations from operations, FPs, cartel market, reputation vendors and so on, people who actually put some effort into their stronghold should have little trouble in reaching that requirement.
  13. I kind of see Revan in the role of Vegeta actually. The tragic confused soul who keeps switching roles between protagonist and antagonist, all the while having a tsundere complex with another central character (Emperor). There is also the fact that he was saved (or rehabilitated) by a headstrong and impulsive woman and ended up having a kid with her. The resemblance is uncanny I tell ya. Revan = Saiyan.
  14. Glad to see BW took a page out of the DBZ plot line. With that said, it could be implied that Revan was actually a Saiyan all along. Now that would be a real twist.
  15. I love my T5i. Anyway, back to the original topic of Disney, SWTOR and canon. Well, Disney is a 150 billion USD corporation that is a fixture on the S&P 500 index. They will sign off on SWTOR being "canon" as long as it suits their interests and corporate balance sheet. However the moment Disney decides to concoct a new plan to profit from the franchise and SWTOR happens to conflict with that plan in some way, they will not hesitate to yank that rug out from under BW/EA. Don't get too attached is all I'm saying.
  16. OP, I'm not sure if your case was just a matter of sour grapes due to being unable to compete but honestly, the entire premise behind conquest was pointless from the *very beginning*. In any MMO, guild competition or dominance over others is essentially centered around the concept of "e-peen measurement contest". No different from games like Call of Duty really but I digress. This has held true since the days of EQ as spawn competition, zone camping, muscling out the competition and the resultant "first kill" gloating pretty much forced latter generations of MMOs to evolve and become more instance based. However, even in this more managed and controlled PVE environment, it is inevitable that the desire for "achievement" will continue to spill over so the developers chose to create some up in-game systems to facilitate such inter-guild competitions. I for one was never excited about conquest from the moment 2.9 was announced. It means nothing to me as it is a hallow and intangible virtual achievement that will evaporate the moment the game servers shut down. I have already learned my lessons from those days of EQ and FFXI where days or even weeks were wasted to ensure that a rival top guild doesn't get to a boss spawn before we did or camping an entire section of end game zone to ensure other guilds didn't get a shot. Sometimes we win, other times we did not. Anyone who had EQ experience with Furor and FoH on the Veeshan server would know what I'm talking about. Anyway, now that I'm older and wiser, that kind of juvenile and pubescent mentality is simply beneath me. As such, my only concession to TOR conquest is to max my personal points goals when the weekly objectives happen to align with my interests and routine. Other than that, I'm not going to go out of my way to run this treadmill. Maybe you should do some self reflection or evaluation of your own and then decide if it is worth it to complain about not being able to compete. In reality, such in-game achievement falls quite squarely into the "who cares" category when compared to more valuable real life achievements IMO.
  17. WoW is like any other industry leader, or the leader of certain segments of an industry such as Facebook, Apple, Microsoft and Google. With that much brand recognition, it is bound to have a lot of haters to go along with the legions of fanboys. Silly as it may sound to get so worked up over an entertainment product/company, some people can still get pretty impassioned regardless. As such, it doesn't really surprise me to hear about gamers raging over the mere mentioning of "WoW" but it does surprise me that they would exercise the kick option due to it. Seems rather juvenile and pubescent.
  18. Bump, more people needs to chime in on this. IMO Tatooine is the best looking and most scenic stronghold out of the 4 currently. It is a flat out shame that its decorative potential is being stifled by an absurdly low hook cap.
  19. Heck yes it does. It's just a cosmetic item like everything else so not sure why BW made this special exception. I despise EC and clearing NiM/HM one time each is more than enough for me. I would much rather just to be able to buy the damn turret off of the GTN.
  20. Roll a SIN/Shadow tank. The abundance of comm gear that comes pre-loaded with shield/absorb ensures that you will have a far less painful path to optimization than Juggs/Guardians or PT/VGs
  21. People can make millions a week through crafting these days. And given the "set it and forget it" nature of crafting in TOR, people don't need to play "18 hours a day" to earn quick credits through crafting either. Seems to me that the OP is simply unwilling to make the effort to figure out how to make credits in this game without resorting to the CM. That's just laziness or being plain old obtuse.
  22. Hmm, I'm not sure how that's possible since just a full set of Obroan gear should give a player somewhere around 30k hp. Fully augmented (as any serious PVPer would do), their hp should easily eclipse 32k. Tanking gear would obviously be even higher than that, to the north of 35-36k. I play both PVE and PVP so I can pretty much say that for 55 HM FPs, a full set of Obroan or Brutalizer is good enough. Not ideal, but enough to get it done without too much difficulty. I think you just came across a group of baddies TBH. That or they were just purposely trolling.
  23. You can buy isotope-5 vials from basic comm vendors but that's kind of a special case since BW made them only droppable in TC unlike MMGs and EEEs. But yes, I don't believe thermal regulators should be purchasable from the scrap vendor. The value of thermal regulators and by extension augments has long been established so BW should not mess with that. Not everyone should have access to purple mats if they aren't running the crew missions.
  24. Yep, several rooms in my NS quite literally have no more hooks left for decorations (solarium, antechamber, vestibule) while half of the hooks in my Tatooine are unused (especially in the outdoor areas) due to the cap. Something is definitely amiss here. Honestly I can't even begin to fathom how BW came up with these seemingly arbitrary hook caps. DK's cap seems about right due to the small size but NS feels like 50 too high while Tatooine is easily 100 too low. I am hoping that these caps were only implemented on an experimental basis and BW will adjust it once they have an accurate picture of the server load after the full launch is complete. As for the guards, one work around that BW can use is to just turn them into standard decorations instead of clickable objects/npcs. Animal mounts, some npcs like dancers and certain companions are actually animated but these guards don't even flinch. They just stand there like statues so why not just turn them into actual ones? Personally, I couldn't care less if the guards lost their "<Insert faction> guardsman" green tag. In fact, non-clickable guard decorations already exist in game (by the Sith Academy entrance on Korriban for example).
