  1. wait what? 500 hours is probably close to how much time ive spent pveing in an entire expansion (wotlk) in wow. and that is doing relevant hard content including sarth +3, yogg, HM colisuem, and arthas all on 25 man.
  2. i get mostly void star, so ill trade ya OP
  3. so...everyone who agrees with you is awesome, but the vast majority of people who think assassins/maras are OP are nubs. for your own safety, please get off your high horse. not to mention "fearing" a class would imply 1v1, which does not matter unless you are a stealther.
  4. if a tank pt gets focused, unless he jet charges out of there he is going down in seconds. energy shield is just as effective as sorc bubble without guard or heals on the pt. only time energy shield is worth a darn is if you have guard, taunt, and healing on you. other than that, if you pop it at say....50% hp you will only mitigate about 2k damage from the CD. the difference in survivability between my pyro pt and my CP pt is marginal at best except for jet charge, which has saved my bacon tons of times. in fact, a sorc has a better chance of surviving a focus train by himself than a pt. sorcs escape getting pulled into 30+ players in ilum all the time, pts have to sit there and take it if they are not tank or tank/dps hybrid as pts have zero escape tools baseline.
  5. grinding for gear is normal, but there are a few things about swtor that are highly abnormal. 1. the gear difference between a new level 50 and bm is something you would expect after a game has been out for YEARS with multiple new teirs of armor introduced. to put it in wow terms, its about the difference between a new player and someone in pvp gear 4 seasons ahead. 2. the gear grind was atrocious. at LEAST 125 hours (more like 200-250) to get full BM before the many changes. now, i do think they are going a bit far in the other direction.
  6. sorcs are extremely good in huttball. actually they are mandatory in huttball. as for void and civil war? they are a balanced class. 1v1 is meaningless unless you are a stealther. i dont agree with the nerfs, but sorcs are by far not the worst class in competitive pvp. actually they are better in competitive than non competitive.
  7. true enough although to be fair people use BH when they mean merc merc when they mean pt BH when they mean pt and so on and so forth. it gets confusing at times when people commonly use BH, pt, or merc improperly.
  8. well, pts are pretty easy to play since they only have 4 attacks and very few tools at their disposal. which is why i rerolled to a jugg (non rage)
  9. i just showed you screenshots, of the first game after we got into this argument, where half of my team had under 12k hp, even with endurance buff. you ASKED me to post screenshots, WHY are you still arguing? I have provided PROOF, you HAVENT. you can #$$%^ing see my character is not naked in the screenshots and even how much hp i have because i dont have raid bars for the enemy team? generally im too busy...you know...FIGHTING to post a screenshot if im attacking one. what? did you want me to basically afk the game just to get some screenshots of the enemy team? and i did include a screenshot of one enemy member....i think. the powertech i was talking about. in my screenshots, the ones with ~11.5k hp were level 21, 23, 43, and 45. i have gear that is 8 levels old, because i havent found a single upgrade for that slot. luckily im wearing 4 orange pieces of gear, and it is easier to keep those up to date than a non modifable piece of gear without crafting. even the GTN pickings are slim on my server. i have PROVEN that it is common for there to be a 3k spread between the casuals and the twinks. sometimes even more. and you know that they will have much better stats too. easily 5-10% more crit and 20% more surge is well within reason
  10. some classes get most of their useful tools by 25 or so. ill admit that the 10-19s are kinda against the wall. but my assassin still kicks arse, and he is only in the mid 20's since he has most of his useful tools. same goes for my pt. both of those classes i could play to their near max even at low level. my jugg, on the other hand, at 39 is still missing quite a few tools. hell he was painful to play as until late 20s or so, probably the least useful class ive played as in the 10-25.
  11. here we go, first pug game, tons of screenshots! its a good thing this happens every game and is easy to prove. now, its been YEARS since ive posted a screenshot, and....i dont really keep up with this stuff. but here we go http://imageshack.us/g/822/screenshot2012040614595.jpg/ for those who want the short version, half of my team has around 11500 hp. the worst part is, thats AFTER the endurance buff for some of them. and there was one powertech with 14800 hp, level 49 of course. and he didnt even have an endurance buff (no idea why since he is a powertech.....), so his hp would probably be around 15500 with that buff. granted, i got LUCKY this time and didnt run into a premade! holy crap!
  12. sigh. let me queue up some pvp on my alt and take some screenshots.... EDIT: this might take awhile, queues are long
  13. there is not much point anymore now that people have ruined the 10-49 bracket. beforehand it was a nice place to have some fun solo regardless of what level or gear level you were at. but of course, eventually a group of a##hats will find a way to ruin this for everyone because they are completely skill-less and need a major advantage over others in order to kill people. now, ill admit that in wow there were points where i kept my alt in a bracket to pvp in exclusively, but i did not twink him. and the big reason why i did that was because that class/spec performed great in the lower pvp brackets but took a nosedive at the max level.
  14. ....most of my teammates have ~11000-11500 hp. only the "geared" ones have 12.5k. and by "geared" i mean having green/blue gear that is within 5 levels. course, usually most of my teammates are under level 25. btw, your 14k is within my 3-4k mark.
  15. the 10-49 bracket, at least on my server, is nearly as bad as the 50 bracket now. beforehand, you could have a lot of fun solo queueing in the 10-49 bracket even if you had crap gear/low level. now im seeing more and more "twink" low level guilds who are all 49 and have 3-4k more hp than everyone else and form premades every game. now the low bracket pvp feels just like 50 pvp. extremely frustrating to solo queue since every game is a premade, forcing you to premade if you want to get the dailies done.
  16. being locked out of one ability is somehow = being locked out of ALL melee moves? if interupts locked all or most of your abilities out, you would have a point.
  17. the problem with assassins is that they are near perfect, at least as near perfect as ive ever seen a class/spec be in the 6 years ive played mmos. they are strong in 1v1 strong survivability strong utility strong in group fights strong burst strong sustained strong at clearing objectives now, they are not the BEST at all of those categories, but they are definitely on the short list. other than the fact that they have to be in melee range, they have no weaknesses. they are not broken in any of the fields that i mentioned (other than objectives), but they are strong in way too many of them.
  18. ... pve in this game is very simple, but in wow there have been encounters that have taken guilds, good ones at that, months to try to beat. especially the first time you down a hard boss. 9 times out of 10 it doesnt go as planned and requires some....improvisation. but then afterwards, that boss is generally easy. some fights were a gear check, some just had complicated mechanics that required all 25 people to not screw up (and if one person screws up = raid wipe). ironically, pve is actually what kept me in wow. towards the end of vanilla wow (pre expansion wow), all of my friends who i played with quit for various personal reasons (girfriend cheated on one, another had a new job, blah blah blah you get the point). all we did was pvp, and when they quit i was going to cancel once my subscription ended. then i meet one of my friends pvp acquaintances who asked me where he was. told him my story and he asked if i wanted to raid. never done raiding before, so i said yes. had a huge blast and kept my subscription going even though none of my friends were playing anymore. first expanion, burning crusade, i split my time between raiding and pvping. second expansion, wrath of the lich king, i spent pveing only. why? because they destroyed my favorite pvp specs playstyle...and pvp in general just went down the crapper. but pve was still as exciting as when i first got into it, whereas pvp got kinda....boring and predictable. i research pve fights far more than i do pvp ones, as in pvp it really doesnt matter if i screw up. i would not recommend this game for pve. as it stands right now, endgame pve has nothing going for it. in wow, pvp became progressively worse over time, whereas pve for the most part improved. in this game, pvp is much stronger than pve, as flawed as the system is. if pve is done right, every fight is new and fresh. now if you are stuck with 8 bosses for a year, yea it gets boring as hell. but pvp gets just as stale eventually. after awhile, you can pretty much predict how a fight will go before its even started, the only thing that will throw a monkey wrench in that is a player who is exceptionally skilled (like one of the best in the game) or a player who sucks.
  19. i can only speak from a powertech perspective but... tank or tank/dps pt specs do not have a whole lot more survivability than a pure dps spec, especially if they are using guard. what my tank or tank/dps pt does have is more utility and an escape tool. basically, i would choose a tank/dps spec for huttball, and a pyro spec for voidstar and civil war. the only people who are ACTUAL tanks in pvp are healers, or people with guard on them.
  20. considering that those two CDs are negligible? you could remove them and it would hardly affect pvp. and they are nerfing our free heat ability champ. i dont mind managing resources, i do mind being forced to autoattack most of the time just to keep my resources in line AND because there is nothing better to use my heat on when railshot goes on CD. pyro is pretty much going to be dead, especially if the changes to AP pan out. in truth, im more angry about them destroying CP (carolina parakeet, a tank/dps hybrid) than i am about pyro because i never enjoyed pyro in pvp. try again.
  21. i can analyze data in minutes it takes hundreds of hours to level every char to 50 and gear him up. and i wasnt making fun of him until he said that people who dont put in hundreds of hours playing every class do not deserve to have an opinion. his opinion carries as much weight as everyone else's especially without any proof to back it up. his sense of entitlement is beyond laughable.
  22. ..... A. the heat resource gained via being CC talent is a complete joke. for one, its only 8 heat, it should at LEAST be doubled. my jugg has a similiar talent that gives him enough resources to use one attack, and he gets resources exponentially faster than my pt does regardless even without this talent. B. we dont use incendiary missile unless we are at range and at 0 heat. C. we can pop a 2 minute CD that gives us one free attack....woooo! that helps resource management SO MUCH! or in other words, 1 in 80 attacks is free due to this CD! D. even with a 1.5 minute vent heat, it only increases our resource rate by 11%. with 2 minute vent heat, its 8.33% WOOOOOOO! E. all pt specs have those abilities, and the other trees have talents that are passive that increase heat resources while having damage abilities that cost significantly less. now, im tired of educating the clueless. shoo.
  23. sorry, lady vashj and archimonde are from warcraft 3, and later turned into super bosses in world of warcraft (most characters from warcraft 3 that get turned into wow bosses tend to be hard....with a few exceptions). and yes, pvp is harder in this game than pve. pvp, in general, takes longer to master than pve. although unlike pve, once pvp is mastered that is pretty much it for the rest of the game without a major shakeup in how the classes play, whereas pve fights are constantly being added.
  24. so, only people who literally have no life should be entitled to an opinion. well...after all that time spent i guess they should be entitled to something. and without hard data from anywhere, anecdotal evidence is all we have. personally, im a numbers who$% who likes to look at statistical data (without cherry picking) to determine what is OP, but unfortunately i cant do that in this game. all we have is population, and that is not a good data set as population is influenced by more than just how strong a class is in pve or pvp.
  25. .... you realize that getting two railshot procs that crit is like getting 4 attacks in a row that crit right? there is roughly a 13.5% chance of getting a double railshot proc there is roughly a 3% chance to get a double railshot proc, and both of them critting. and without free railshots, pyros would have horrendous heat management to the point where they would have to autoattack two times everytime they use 1 special ability. in other words, 66% of their attacks would be rapid shots (basic/auto attack) pyros will live without the burst from a double proc. what they will not be able to live with is the cut to their sustained, their resources, and the fact that after the proc they have nothing worthwhile to attack with as half of their spec talents revolves around railshot, which they wont be able to use for at least 7.5 seconds.
