  1. I went to solo the lower level Republic flashpoints because I want to slowly enjoy the story, especially with You can also join a group to do the level 50 story mode flashpoints. As they are most likely to be level 47 to fresh 50, they are more likely to agree to see the story rather than RAWR do-this-in-20-min-go-go-go.
  2. She is a good tank for my operative healer and I used her all the way till I got SCORPIO. That said, I never trusted her and I never will, but at least she laid out her cards from the beginning and it is clear that she will backstab me whenever she gets the chance. Good thing that my agent is female and I would much rather romance Vector. He is a bug boy but at least he got my back. Want to see: - Blizz - Scourge - Dr Lokin
  3. Do you intend to play your shadow as a DPS and DPS only? Shadow tanking is quite fun. You get some cool abilities (walk through firepits in huttball without taking damage, stealth, force speed, taunts, pull enemies into firepits/acid etc), though not everyone enjoys the playstyle. Another class you can consider is the scoundrel. DPSing in PVE is a bit lacklustre at the moment, but they are fairly strong in PVP, in the hands of good players. I enjoyed healing with it in PVP. If I attracted too much attention from marauders and juggies, I always have the option of vanishing just before they can kill me. That seems to piss them off a lot. That said, you are always being chased down by DPSers every warzone as a healer, unless the enemy team is completely clueless. The bright side is scoundrel/operative has significantly better survivability and mobility than the healing sorcerer/sage. Not the class for you if you only want to melt people in the faces though. If you can't find any other class that you like, sticking with the sentinel is not a bad idea.
  4. Most guilds have looting policies for guild runs. Check with your guild master for this if there is no official looting policies. For pug runs or mixed runs (guild run with 1 or 2 pug members), ask before needing on crafting items. Almost everyone has a crafting skill that need biometric crystal alloys, and for most pug groups I ran with the convention is to hit greed.
  5. Armor that are bound to you can be used by your companions as well, as long as they share the same main stats as you and the armor is not restricted to your class.
  6. It sounds like you are in a different progression path with your guild, ie you are progressing a lot faster than them. Have you thought of joining another guild which raids weekly and with players playing at your level? You may be friends with your guildies, but what some people do is they take out their best-geared toons to join raiding guilds, and leave alts behind in their old guilds to level and chat with old guildies. The reason why I say so is that I have seen players who are significantly better players than their guildies end up having to wait a lot. Wait for people to hit 50, wait for people to gear up, wait for people to nail down raid mechanics etc. It gets frustrating and almost never work out.
  7. My guild is a casual guild and we don't use parsers for KP and EV since for tier 1 operations the objective is to have fun and not worry about numbers. However MOX is required for EC and onwards because the enrage timer is unforgiving and it is difficult to carry anyone who is not pulling their weight. The raid leaders often emphasize that these tools are to help gamers to improve. Our guild does not kick people out of raid rosters immediately when raid leaders find their dps lacking. These dpsers will be given a few weeks to improve their builds, gear and rotation. The idea is to help everyone improve, and that itself should not be something that makes people unhappy. The thing is, no one would know what's going on without a parser, and wiping weeks after weeks not knowing why is seriously not fun.
  8. To clarify, you will get very little xp killing mobs if your friend is many levels above you, but you will still get the correct amount of xp for your level when you turn in missions.
  9. I belonged to the camp whereby I don't want any add-on or macro as well, until I met players who are hearing-impaired and unable to use vent. It is so difficult to type out instructions, especially in fights like EC, while trying to tank/heal/kill stuff. We are all cool with typing before the pull but it is hard to do so in an intensive fight. I did not play WoW before, but in FFXI they had auto-translate with sophisticated macros, which allows English and Japanese-speaking players to play together without the need for voice comm. These macros do not bind complex rotation into one key, but rather they announce which mob to pull which mob to kill etc, and it is easy to coordinate chain-casting. I would also like to have some limited add-on, such as speech-to-text add-on to allow us to raid with hearing-impaired players. No thanks to DPS meter/attack through target/ bind rotations into one key though.
  10. No. Nothing on Tython is hard, not even the Heroic 2+. And to be honest if any player thinks it is too hard, he or she will either have to learn to play the class better or play something else. Because it will not get any easier.
  11. This is probably one addition to the do's and dont's. I am not a PVPer myself but did PVP dailies when leveling up my toons. That said, certain things should be common sense. When you are attacking, a common strategy is to have most players fighting on one door and 2 players (with a stealth-er) to distract defenders on the other door and plant the bomb. I have no idea how many times I have seen people continuing to fight on the door with no bomb, after the bomb has been planted successfully by their teammate on the other door. The bomb planter is likely to get cc-ed and killed and the bomb defused if no backup arrives, but nope, a lot of players prefer to continue their awesome duels. Anyway, really good job! I would like to start to PVP more on my new toon, and this is a wonderful guide!
  12. The first thing you need to figure out is what is your guild's main objective? Is it a PVP guild whereby you aspire to be the best ranked PVPers on your server? Is it a raiding guild? Do you aspire to be one of the first few people to clear the hardest PVE content? Is it a casual social guild? If you raid, how many times a week and what kind of commitment are you looking for? You will only be able to recruit if you are able to offer what people are looking for. There is no point to recruit a PVPer if you are a raiding guild, no matter how good was the person healing or defending objectives in PVP. It also helps if you know most of the guilds on your server and what they are like, so you will be able to tell whether there is a mismatch between the players and their guilds. That said, it is fine to ask but don't push. Let them have time to consider and speak to their guildmasters if they are interested. And I agree that tossing a guild invite without a chat/introduction is very rude.
  13. Have you tried tanking the content in your preferred specs with your guildies/friends yet? What are their comments on your performance? Does the healer have to heal you more or are you taking more spikey damage? Are you losing threat to your DPSers? I suppose that it is possible to make it work, but bearing in mind that people using the LFG group may not be very experienced players or undergeared. Are you able to tank effectively if your healer is undergeared? Ultimately, the LFG tool is not just for yourself only. Different specs and group setup are possible, but for a LFG tool, you never know who is going to join, so make sure you can do the job right if you queued as a tank if not tank-specced.
  14. It depends what kind of players HM Flashpoints are for. I remember that BW devs said that HM flashpoints are for fresh 50s, so if that's the case I do agree that certain encounters before the patch were overtuned for fresh 50s in daily gear/ blue gear. (like the guy in Battle of Ilum before 1.2... you know who I am talking about). Reducing number of trash mobs is nice as well. Flashpoints like False Emperor have so much trash that I feel like falling asleep at my keyboard. However, HM Flashpoints will be too easy for players in tionese/columi, and I do wish for nightmare mode flashpoints for more geared players. More unforgiving mechanics, tighter enrage, but with few trash mobs and 3/4 bosses. Something challenging and yet shorter than operations. Kill **** and go home. It will be a different mode of play from explosive conflict.
  15. Normal mode EV. This is faster than HM FPs coz every boss drop columi grade gear. Enrage is not as painful as in HM FPs and can be managed by decently-skilled players even when undergeared. It is quite doable by a group of fresh 50s. Might take a few tries to learn the fights if none of you are experienced in MMOs, but once you understand the (simple) mechanics normal mode EV is easy easy.
  16. Hey, that sounds awful for a guild run. My guild takes fresh 50s into story mode EV/KP all the time. Unless they are in level 40 greens, we take them as soon as they hit 50. It is the most painless and fastest way for fresh 50s to gear up. Running story/hard EV/KP only when everyone has full columi gear is seriously ridiculous. Do you know what I think of these elitist people? They are masking their lack of skills by demanding everyone to be overgeared for the encounter. When you are overgeared, the mechanics become a lot more forgiving and you can stand in bad **** and ignore certain mechanics because you are.. well overgeared. Does this help you to be a better player? Hell no. If your guild demands that you must be full columi before going to ops (even on story mode), run as fast as you can and find another guild. As for the OP, sorry to hear about such experience. It is indeed rude for the raid leader to kick you without apologizing. Next time, do check with the raid leader that you are wearing PVP gear and confirm that he/she is truly fine with it. I personally won't have issue pugging a DPS in BM/WH gear for HM EV, because that can be done in a mixture of tionese/columi.
  17. Ok then let me clarify. My definition of a fresh 50 is someone who has just hit level 50, but not gearing himself/herself to level 50 yet. Which means this person is wearing quest greens around level 45 to 47 or so, with some pieces like earpiece/implants which are lagging behind on the level. Unless carried by geared players in the group, this fresh 50 will likely hit enrage or not survive the droid boss if this person is the tank. My suggestion is still the same, if your group has a hard time with it, skip it. He is called bonus boss for a reason. Of course if you want the challenge, you can actually learn how to fight him properly and how to manage his damage, based on your group makeup.
  18. Sometimes I don't get the community QQing over how easily dailies are and how they can be soloed easily. I only want to get my dailies done within an hour, get my credits/commendations and get out of there. Whether other people do it with a group or not is none of my concern. Make the last boss harder? Give me a break. That just means all of us will spend more time doing dailies.
  19. I have slicing to 400 but I have never gotten this Advanced Neural Augmentors after running multiple grade 6 sliced tech parts missions. All I get is 4 subelectronic data module (blue) after running the abundant yield mission. Do I need to get Andronikus's affection to 10000 before I stand a better chance at this? My guildies been asking me for the purple mats but I can't get anything so far.
  20. I thought of this possibility but when I tried to craft it shows me as having only 1 ciridium (that was in my cargo store before the entire issue happened). Sent in the ticket but been waiting for 2 days for a response.
  21. Actually hard mode flashpoints are not meant for fresh 50s. Fresh 50s need to gear up before they even attempt Black Talon HM. I know you are expecting a lot of L2P comments and how hard mode is not hard at all. Not going to give you more of these. As this is a bonus boss that drops a Tionese level earpiece, just skip him and go to the last boss for your columni bracers. You can come back to him after you are better geared. Is it upsetting for a group of undergeared players? Is the encounter overtuned for the intended audience? Maybe. But given that it is an optional boss (can be skipped entirely without missing out on final reward) I wouldn't complain. We skip bonus content all the time when we feel that the reward/effort is not worth it.
  22. As in, I was supposed to get ciridium but they don't appear in my inventory, even after the mission is successful.
  23. I sent my companions out on missions to get grade 6 underworld metals. While their missions are successful, the ciridium does not appear in my inventory at all. I tried for a few times (and lost 10 ciridium metal in the process) and can confirm that this indeed happened. The stranger thing is that a mission returned 4 ciridium metal and 2 mandalorian iron but only the mandalorian iron appeared in my inventory. I sent in a ticket but I am curious to know whether this happened to anyone else .
