  1. /signed Would be amazing for multi alt crafting.
  2. ^^^devs take note! Would pay cartel coins for this rite nao. At least 1k minimum!
  3. HAWT! Oh C'mon it's the 21st century, who doesn't want to see some hot man on cyborg-armored-man action? Anybody? Y'all are killing me. I'm not even gay, just trying to keep it real for everybody. Y'know, in a game with SGR's and all. But srsly, some of y'all think that would be hawt, you're just afraid to raise your hands. I bet the ladies would like it.
  4. So I decided to give the new dye modules a try on my trooper, looked at the GTN and previewed several looks, picked out the one I wanted and slotted it up. okay, cool, nice new look. I go about my merry way. That was 2 days ago. I'm also in the process of upgrading my gear towards raiding, but since I like the old trooper BH shells better than any of the new looks, I'm keeping those shells and just inserting the new mods. I did this for my chestpiece last night, upgrading the mods, which is where I also put the dye module so that I could simply unify colors to chestpiece. When I log in this morning, my dye module is gone. Vanished. Poofed. Vaminos. Kaput. R-U-N-N-O-F-T etc etc.... I know I didn't take it out, because I was only adding things to the chestpiece, not removing them, and anyway there is an "are you sure" warning popup that would have occured had I accidently attempted to. No such popup occured during my install of the new mods. I'm not complaining because the dye module in question only cost me 5k, a pitance for a level 55, but I thought it might be important to let others know what happened, since some of the most desired modules go for considerably more. Also I'm wondering if it's possible if this might be somehow WAI. Can a yellow name perhaps comment on whether upgrading an armor pieces mods is supposed to negate any slotted dye module or is it a glitch? It seems unlikely this would be WAI imo, but you never know.
  5. Jesus. H. Christ. You're dense. And completely wrong. COMPLETELY WRONG. YOU are trying to turn this into a discussion of what happened behind closed doors when it's not completely relevant in the slightest to what I posted about, which is NCSoft's craptacular treatment of their US customers in this whole sorry affair, and about how I feel about them as one of those customers. Let me boil this down real simple for you and don't even try to start calling someone else arrogant with the way you came at me. (Is that not passive aggressive enough? Sorry) 1. NCSoft shut down a profitable game without notice, and in so doing (before, during, and after) significantly mishandled their customer base for that game, possibly due to attitudes you've alluded to, alienating a large percentage of them in the extreme. 2. While NCSoft was within their rights to shut the game down as the owner, as the customer, I'm entirely within my rights to feel however I damn well please about it. As far as I'm concerned, they can go to hell. Anything that happened between NCSoft and Paragon is not relevant here in the slightest because I DON'T CARE WHY NCSOFT SHUT DOWN THE GAME. I only care that they did so, and how they went about it. Get that through your thick skull, you keep trying to insist it's somehow relevant but it's not. As I stated the first time around, you can blame whoever you want, I blame NCSoft for the way they treated me. Paragon doesn't enter into that and your reasoning in arguing they somehow do is flawed, period. Paragon did not ulitimately make the decision to shut the game down, and your insistence that it's somehow their fault when it clearly wasn't their call is poor at best and at worst not relevant in the slightest to my relationship with NCSoft as a customer. As a last thought, don't try to tell me my point was misplaced, you're just refusing to accept it. This mentality right here shows EXACTLY what's wrong with your thinking: "This entire debacle had absolutely nothing to do with the customers" Eff that. We played that game and loved it for 8 years, then some @#$holes in Korea got butthurt over what happened in a conference room and shut the whole thing down just to spite a small group of people. That juvenile, shortsighted I'll take my ball and go home because I don't like the way you play decision didn't just affect the people who offended them, if affected all of their customers. Stupid. Just plain effing stupid. "The customers were never a consideration in the shutdown of the property." This statement shows exactly why NCSoft effed this up. On this one thing, we agree. We were never a consideration when we absolutely should have been. Now NCSoft will never be in consideration for my business again. When you try to tell me something that was a part of my life for that long going bye bye without apology, explanation or recourse doesn't have anything to do with me, don't be surprised when I tell you to get bent. NCSoft screwed the pooch, plain and simple, and all you've tried to do in this thread is rationalize that and tell me I've got to see things from their point of view. Yeah yeah yeah, face is very important in asian cultures, blah blah blah. I'll start caring about face when they start taking their customers into consideration on major decisions that dramatically impact said longtime paying customers. Stop trying to sell me a bunch of BS about an internal conflict having nothing to do with me. It's a crap arguement and if you've got half a brain you know it.
  6. I read all of your post and I still disagree with you, and you know what? My point, you missed it entirely. When I'm your customer, whether I'm american or indian or peruvian or irish or swahili, if you come to where I live and try to do business with me, it is on YOU to understand and operate within that culture. Clearly, NCSoft does not respect american values, which is why they have a whole playerbase of pissed off former COH players who will never give them a dime again. They may not care, and you can argue til you're blue in the face that I should see it otherwise, but that doesn't change the truth of the fact. You also completely missed the underlying point that what happens between NCSoft and Paragon behind close doors in a conference room doesn't matter one tiny iota to the customer (and NCSoft basing decisions that affect their customers on such things amply demonstrates their lack of concern or understanding about customer relations here), and saying that I'M ignorant and wrong because I don't take such things into account when I choose how I feel about their business decisions is what's silly. I never claimed something was untrue because I didn't understand it so don't put words in my mouth. What I claimed was that IT WAS IRRELEVANT to my opinion of NCSoft's actions, which it is. You seem to be suggesting that my relationship with NCSoft as a customer should be affected or colored by some private matter between them and Paragon when in fact it means exactly squat where said relationship is concerned. I'm not the one being silly here pal, but thanks for trying to talk down to me because I'm not intimately knowledgeable about the inner workings of foreign companies in certain parts of the world. That kind of knowledge obviously makes you feel very important. I bet mom's proud. Btw, you don't know jack about me and the extent to which I have interactions with other cultures, so before you make conclusions about such things, bring some facts or just keep it to yourself. It's not relevant, but then again, you didn't get that from the beginning. Oh yeah, still not seeing one shred of evidence beyond your own words that this so called "face issue" you seem to think I had no clue about (Yes, I know what face is, and I know how important it is in asian cultures you arrogant twit) is the actual source of what happened to cause the game's shutdown. I'm not saying it is and I'm not saying it isn't, I'm just saying A) I'm not taking YOUR word from on high about it and B) In any case, it does not change NCSoft's poor handling of said shutdown or the fact they publicly lied about same or how I feel about it.
  7. Ahem. Just to quibble on a minor point, what I said is not and should not reasonably be interpreted as jingoism because it neither sets my country apart as exceptional in any way, nor is a beligerent foreign policy. The point is exactly the same if one substitutes any country on earth save Korea for the US in my post (say for instance Ireland). I think you got the overall thrust of my point, I'd just rather not be accused of macho flag waving when that's not what I'm doing. Also, irish accents are hawt.
  8. Tangential note and shameless plug a personal fave: Nick Harkaway's first novel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gone-Away_World includes ninjas, kung-fu, post apocalyptic sci fi weirdness, off the wall Douglas Adams style humor and yes mimes. Check it out. You'll be glad you did. Either that or you suck and have no sense of humor. Just sayin.
  9. The normal log in cycle for this and almost any MMO is a week. Most active players that don't have some kind of RL issue keeping them away temporarily (hardware, out of town trip, finals etc etc) log in a minimum of once per week. Operation lock outs are set to reflect this. Two weeks is indeed way too long, but I do think allowing a maximum listing time equal to the normal cycle of a week makes a lot of sense. On the other hand the clutter issue is a real one, so my suggestion is allow an initial listing of a week, anything that doesn't sell within one week could only be relisted for maximum two day intervals. Allow longer listing time, but only once per item. IMO this might strike the right balance between multiple considerations.
  10. Out of curiousity, what exactly is this "face issue" you refer and that I've never heard any other reference to despite paying close attention to any and all news related to the shutdown. Without some kind of reference, citation, or other documentation or at bare minimum further explanation, I'll just safely assume you're talking out of your @#$. Regardless, this being a free country, feel free to blame whoever you want, but your argument, even if completely true, will not change my opinion about NCSoft or where I feel the blame lies in this matter. Why? Simple. I'm american. When I do business with a company offering it's product or service in MY country, under MY laws, and I'm giving them MY money (dollars btw, not whatever the currrency is in Idon'tgiveacrapwhattheyspendthereland), I will feel free to judge their behavoir as a business based upon the norms and culture of MY homeland, not theirs. Why? They're doing business with me. Here. NOT THERE. So there doesn't matter as far as I'm concerned. Couldn't give a flying flip about it. And by the standards and customs of where I come from, what they did was the height of ******tery and eff u customer orientation. WHEN A KOREAN BUSINESS WANTS TO DO BUSINESS IN AMERICA, THEY NEED TO LEARN HOW TO DEAL WITH CUSTOMERS AND CONDUCT BUSINESS ACCORDING TO AMERICAN CUSTOMS, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. As far as I'm concerned, Paragon Studios has nothing to do with this. Nothing whatsoever. I don't care what kind of "face issue" you claim they created for NCSoft, in the US WHERE THEY WERE DOING BUSINESS, their response amounted to a three year old throwing a temper tantrum over a perceived insult, taking their ball and going home. That kind of behavior as a business earns you a quick trip to my "burn in hell while waiting all eternity for another dime of my money or even a nice word about your company" category. Period. No excuses. No blaming other parties. Do not pass go, have an extra kick in the crotch from me. As always YMMV. I just wanted to set the record straight as to who is really at fault here and why. Sorry if I pissed all over your opinion, but on this we definately disagree.
  11. I will never purchase another NCSoft title again, f**k that company. This. Times a thousand. COH was my first MMO. A friend showed it to me a week after launch and I was immediately hooked. Within a week I had bought my own copy and I maintained a continous subscription for over 7 years, never leaving the game until SWTOR's beta. Even after SWTOR's launch, I intended to return to COH at some point. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who had anything to do with the decision to shut it down can burn in hell. What an amazing game, community, and development team. I never knew how good I had it there until it was over. RIP COX.
  12. Not being snide or snarky or anything, but I'm honestly surprised. You're literally the first person I've heard from after having several ingame conversations with others, who's found any use for it. Mind telling us what you've used it to craft?
  13. Unacceptable. Simply, completely, without question, unacceptable. For a game and a company with the level of resources EA/BW has to let crafting mats go to live, not just one, but multiple mats, that serve no purpose whatsoever because they aren't needed for anything is quite simply unacceptable. If your in house testing, test server testing and QA don't catch something this simple, this straightforward and this easy to correct before it goes live, there is only one word for that. Incompetence. There is absolutely no excuse for this. None. None whatsoever. On top of that, you have the temerity to offer a halfhearted oh yeah, sorry about that, we'll think about maybe bumping up the vendor cost to compensate you or maybe work on a fix at some unspecificied time down the road, response. It boggles the mind. Why not just post a middle finger to the crafting community on the forums and be done with it? I cannot express how completely disgusted I am with this turn of events because to me it demonstrates not only a mind numbingly jaw dropping level of sheer incompetence, but undeniably puts on display the management teams "We don't give a flying fig about crafting" mindset. What further proof could you possibly want? As a beta tester and a subscriber since launch that waited for this game for years, this little gem of yours right here is the one that has me actively considering other gaming options. Get it together or I'll be voting with my wallet soon.
  14. Yet another flat out inexcusable screw up for such an expensive game with supposedly extensive in house testing plus a test server. Why didn't this get caught on test? I'm sure it did, probably by plenty of people. Why didn't it get fixed before going to live? Because as BW/EA are in the process of demonstrating yet again, they don't give a flying fig about crafting. Quality control on this game is an absolute joke. Period.
  15. "You can expect to see these on Tuesday, though if anything changes, I'll let you know. " Apparently your 25ish years reading experience didn't help you spot the answer to your question directly above the passage you didn't need pointed out to you, or the fact in that passage, or whatever. The point is, the info was still right there. How embarrassing. Personally, I'm right there with ya when it comes to having little patience on these fixes, considering what a huge mess BW made with the crafting for this expac (Srsly, how in the name of Joe Pesci did all this stuff get to live without being noticed? Multiple blue mats with no current purpose? C'mon....I know people that can do better than that drunk AND stoned.) IMO the fix really should be a higher priority than what seems to be communicated here. These mistakes were inexecusably bush league in the first place and the fact they somehow made it to live is mind boggling. But if that's what they're saying, then that's what they're saying. Btw don't blame Amber, she's just the messenger.
  16. This is my advice, as someone that has multiple alts and a crafter for every crafting skill except armstech. If you're planning to play alts, and if you're planning to have an armormech crafter at all, then trooper is without a doubt the best class with which to do armormech. Tanno Vik gives a best in game +5 crit to armormech crafting. M1-4x gives a best ingame +5 crit to scavenging, which is the gathering skill it needs, and your ship droid can easily be fitted with a sensor that gives +2 crit to Underworld Trading, the necessary misison skill. Additionally, trooper is the only class in the game where all of it's companions have the same primary stat as the class, Aim. This means that with the exception of 4x, who needs droid parts, when you learn a schematic for crafting, it is useful not only for your character, but for all your comps save 4x as well. Efficient to say the least. If you are only planning to play one or two toons, and armormech isn't a given for you, conventional wisdom is that biochem and perhaps cybertech are your best bets. As always ymmv.
  17. The phrasing was perhaps poor and definately confusing, but reread what he said and you'll see that he's not referring to HK's affection, but the fact that HK's presence means you don't need to worry about raising your ship droids affection, since HK is automatically better than the droid at all crafting. It's somewhat confusingly worded, but the affection in question isn't HK's, but rather the ship droid.
  18. Not to be snide or sarcastic or a buzzkill, but you do realize the problem with your guide/attempt to help, right? To the extent that people ignore your advice and continue their whinning about poverty ad naseum, the viabiilty of making money the way you describe will continue to be true, so at least you and perhaps a few others can continue to enjoy it. But to the extent that people begin to actually follow your suggestion, doing so will create an increase in supply of these augments without an increase in demand, inevitably driving prices down on the finished product. At the same time, the exact same people trying to follow your plan will create increased demand for Thermal Regulators, driving prices of the key mat up. The net effect is that the more people follow your advice, the less viable it becomes for everyone. I suggest a solution. Only left handed people should attempt to make money this way. Everyone else ignore this thread and carry on whinning about your poverty. Maybe left handed SWTOR players will then setup ingame charitable foundations to help out the less fortunate and vastly more prevalent right handed players. And yes I'm totally and completely serious about this. I promise. I'm saying it with a straight face, and if you say it with a straight face you must mean it. Trust me.
  19. Why Goulash? Are you Romanian? Is George?
  20. Put simply...Yes. It is that hard to comprehend what you're saying, when what you're saying is to ask for the game to be changed on your behalf when you are A) plainly the tiniest of minorities whose preferences run contrary to the vast majority of the playerbase and B) your basic problem can quickly, obviously, and simply be solved by either not playing during the weekends, or using an alt. And you refuse to do either. These are not unreasoable solutions. Asking for the game to be changed and reprogrammed, (go ahead, say it's an easy change I dare you. A hundred programmers will tell you there is no such thing as an easy change to an MMO's game code) to accomodate you when you're unwilling to make even the smallest of compromises to avoid the need for such is unreasonable. Bottom line, the OP's complaint is the essence of self absorbed whinning over first world problems. Rejecting the multiple easy, obvious fixes to his problem is the height of unreasonable inflexibility. I really do have a hard time fathoming that someone can actually be that rediculous, so don't come in here trying to spin things the other way.
  21. And that arguement would be trivial and nitpicking in the EXTREME. Just get over it. It's beyond obvious you're not interested in being reasonable, you're interested in self absorbed whining. A friend in another MMO used to have a sig which said: "If the game spit out 20 dollar bills, some people would complain that the serial numbers weren't in order." This is you.
  22. OH. MY. GOD. You cannot possibly be serious about this. Seriously? *blinks* You're serious? You actually care that generic content which is the same for all characters regardless of class be experienced by a specific character because then that character will have "missed" it. Not you, the character. Am I understanding you correctly on that? That is so beyond trivial and pointless that I can't even begin to tell you how little sympathy I have for your complaint. All I can say at this point is: there is no solution to your problem. Somehow you'll just have to pick up the pieces of life and move on.
  23. As someone who also finds this sort of thing interesting and who enjoys playing the market mini game, I would point you in the direction of Eve online to get your MMO economics fix. AFAIK Eve is the only MMO which employs a professional economist full time on it's staff, and it has by far the most complex and sophisticated economic system of any major MMO out there. Furthermore, data on the economic activity there is tracked and many metrics are available ingame to players. I doubt that SWTOR is likely to make such data available any time soon. They can't even be bothered to include even minimal price history information for buyers and sellers on the GTN, something fairly standard in most MMO auction houses. BW didn't just hang it's hat on story, it all but ignored some other basic aspects of MMO's, but that's a discussion for a different thread....
