  1. I've had this issue a few times too, but in WZ's which I can tell you is not a fun place to be stuck running, especially as a Sniper who doesn't like to move much in the first place. When it happens to me it's always left-strafe that gets stuck, which is bound to W (I use werd for movement). It has happened on both computers I play SWTOR on and never had this issue in WoW which I also play on the same machines, and none of the other apps that I use end up with repeating wwwwwwwwwwww's in them, so I'm pretty sure it's not the keyboard.
  2. Fail thread title is fail. Blizzard has been offering those for years, going to back to at least Wrath. It's just part of their marketing strategy to try and lure unsubbed players back.
  3. Actually it's not cutting costs at all, licensing music from other soundtracks (even the original John Williams Star Wars scores) is incredibly expensive. I believe they got a bunch of up-and-coming composers to work on the cheap to do most of the music for SWTOR, if they add more music it would probably be along those same lines as licensing existing music would likely be really expensive. But FWIW, I turned off the music only a few hours after installing. For me, game immersion is totally killed by having music playing randomly with no source while gaming. Where is it coming from? Is there an invisible orchestra following my toon around everywhere I go? Makes no sense to me.
  4. Never tried it with a key toggle, but works fine if you turn it off in preferences, it was one of the first things I did after installing.
  5. Lots of things to try if you haven't already: Are you interrupting the bosses heals and/or biggest DPS spell? If there are 2 mobs, can you CC one of them while you kill the other? Have you tried a different companion? i.e. healer if you've been using DPS or vise-versa? Are you avoiding all avoidable damage? Getting out of AoE's, using defensive cooldowns etc.
  6. There is ZERO community now, therefore it is impossible for a LFD tool to make something that does not exist "go down the toilet."
  7. Absolutely inexcusable that this bug still exists in game. How can you be charging people subscription fees with game-stopping bugs like this in existence? I feel like I got ripped off big time.
  8. In your Character Pane, on the top where it displays your name.
  9. +1! I would LOVE a Mac version! I really hope it eventually happens. My entire industry runs on Macs so needless to say that's all I buy, and it's one of the main reasons I played WoW for years was because I could play it on the computers I already owned w/o any additional trouble. I've been doing the bootcamp thing for the first time with SWTOR, but its such a PiTA not being able to tab out and do my other normal computer things when the game is slow (waiting on guildies etc), not to mention having the Windows OS on a drive inside my Mac just makes me feel so dirty, I feel like I should be giving my computer antibiotics.
  10. 1) Deception until mid 30's or so, then you can switch to Darkness if you want, but I did Deception the whole way and it was fine. You don't get to the good talents in Darkness until the 3rd or 4th tree, which is why you want to avoid it for a while in the early levels. Deception gives you useable talents right off the bat with your first few talent points. Plus the better stealth and speed boost from Deception make skipping mobs and finishing quests a lot easier/faster 2) Doesn't really matter, Deception or Madness if you want to dps, Darkness if you want to tank. In my experience I've found Madness to be a pretty hard spec to play. Deception isn't easy either as it has a lot of buffs to watch for to maximize dps, but not as bad as Madness which requires something like 11 spells in the rotation. Madness seems to be geared more towards Sorcs than Assassins (we share that tree with Sorcs) but if you spend time with it I'm sure it's more than viable. 3) Some type of Darkness Hybrid with your choice of Deception or Madness probably. Assassins are really squishy in PvP so if you're going to get really into it you should definitely get up into the Darkness tree a bit for the self-heals and better survivability, and then mix in either Madness or Deception talents depending on which you prefer. The PvP lvl 50 set bonuses favor Madness over Deception by a lot. /Edit - BW, can you stop with the autocorrect on the forums? DPS is a pretty standard term for an MMO, chancing it to dos every time I type it is really annoying >.>
  11. I agree it's pretty rough. I went to Ilum 3 different times yesterday to try and do the daily, all 3 times (including 11:30pm PT) there were at least 8-10 other Imps (often more) already circling the armaments area making it near impossible to get one. I ended up getting about 5 total in the combined 90+ minutes I spent in the zone over those 3 visits. At this point I would consider the "Daily" 30 requirement a weekly, and the weekly 120 requirement a monthly.
  12. I didn't have much trouble leveling, and was usually doing quests / killing elite mobs 2-3 levels above me, but ever since I hit 50 a few weeks back I'm having trouble finding anything to do that isn't horribly weighted against my class. I get absolutely owned in PvP playing Deception. there's not a single class I can even get down past 75% before I'm toast. Stealth is useless, I get knocked out of it before I can ever even get off an opener most of the time, and at most my crits hit for a little over 3k, but most of my attacks do 1k dmg or less. Maul bugs out at least 50% of the time and I get stuck in some weird animation where my toon is attempting to do the maul but it doesn't go off, even when I'm directly behind the target. It was better when I briefly went Darkness spec, I survived a lot longer, but -5% melee dmg from Dark Charge seems like it's not the right thing to be using against other players that are hitting like trucks, and of course being Darkness means no chance of doing HM Flashpoints or Operations because I'm not a tank, I'm dps. Speaking of operations, I can't even get into one unless my guild gets totally desperate and there's no other class available, because everyone says melee gets destroyed by AoE dmg, so they only take ranged dps classes. Wearing light armor and having 14k health I can kinda understand, even with the 30% dmg reduction from Entropic Field the one or two bosses I've tried I do get destroyed pretty fast even if I'm constantly on the lookout for AoE's and run out of them, the range of them is too great to be able to avoid them entirely. So is anyone end-gaming with a dps Assassin successfully? Any tips? I've got mostly high-level orange gear outfitted with the best mods I can get (dailies etc) plus a couple of purples from HM Flashpoints (no love from the PvP bags yet), but it seems like the cards are really stacked against me. I wish I had a ranged class, but I really don't like leveling, I've tried re-rolling but can't even get to lvl 15 before I'm bored. I really would just prefer to use the lvl 50 I've got, but the game seems to be punishing me for being a squishy melee big time. Help other than "you're a noob" and "l2p" would be much appreciated. I've read the Assassin guide several times and feel like I'm gearing and spec'd appropriately, but just don't seem to have the dps or the survivability to do anything other than get carried or be the first one to die, or both.
  13. Convenient of the OP to leave out the last line of the article: "“Admittedly, we set our expectations as if Star Wars was to be a good, not great, MMO,” he wrote. “Fortunately, we think the company did too.”" So basically they knew they didn't have a "great" product on their hands, only a good one, but they're charging for it like it's a "great" one, thus the backlash from some of the player base. Lower the sub cost to be more in line with the quality of the game and there would probably be less people feeling like they got ripped off. Then again, 800,000 subs x $15 / month is more profit than 1 million subs at $10 / month, so profit-wise I guess they made the right move.
  14. Oh puh-leeze. You'd think you're running for the GOP nomination with all the "facts" you're making up.
