here is the fundamental problem with the petition: Ea has determined that the current population does not warrant continued local investment.
Marshalling said population base to directly request that investment does not actually do anything that would alter the logic that went into the decision.
Now, if you could somehow demonstrate to ea that there is a larger base of potential players they have missed and can easily tap to increase revenue flow you might have something...
In reality, you guys are coming over to the na servers or unsubbing.
I cannot really see any other viable option at this point as i doubt ea is going to reverse course on this one.

Most of the community understand perfectly that this is a cost cutting exercise, that's one of the reasons they are angry. The issue is multifaceted and that is just one issue among many.
But I seem to be trying to bring perspective to a few trolls in the post who like to agitate players under the guise of "logical" and "rational" argument.
Well it's good they understand but the big issue was population.. and now it's being fixed so yeah the ping and timezone issue sucks but atleast we get to play with a good heavy population

You obviously haven't read all the posts on this thread or been on the Dalbora server which has a vibrant community.
EVERYONE... AND I MEAN EVERYONE... INCLUDING PEOPLE WHO MAY NOT USUALLY TALK ON THE FLEET WERE DISCUSSING IT...
1 - I would say 95-99% of people are against it...
2 - About 10 - 20% have already unsubscribed last night in protest because they think BIO/EA will only pay attention unless it is affecting their income... (personally I disagree with unsubscribing before it happens... I believe it will just give BIO more ammunition to go ahead as those people are gone... it will support their case)
3 - Another 50-60% of people (including myself) will most likely unsubscribe if this actually/when goes ahead
4 - Have you actually looked at the petition which only started yesterday... it currently has 300+ signatures and is climbing as people login and find out about this server move... it will take about 1 - 2 weeks for most people to find out because not everyone plays everyday... ALSO I only know of a small number of people who actually read these forums... so the others will only find out by word of mouth
5 - BIO PAY ATTENTION... YOU NEED TO SEND AND EMAIL TO ALL YOUR APAC SUBSCRIBERS AND ALSO PUT A MESSAGE ON THE LOGIN SCREEN... IT IS WITHOUT DOUBT THE SNEAKIEST THING YOU CAN DO TO NOT GIVE ANY NOTICE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS EXCEPT IN THIS FORUM
6 - ALSO YOU SHOULD HAVE RUN AN IN GAME SURVEY OR AN EMAIL SURVEY BEFORE MAKING SWEEPING STATEMENTS LIKE THE COMMUNITY VOTED TO DO THIS... HOW CAN YOU SAY THIS IS WHAT YOUR CUSTOMERS WANT WHEN YOU HAVE ONLY ASKED ABOUT 10% OF YOUR CUSTOMER BASE ONLY IN THE FORUMS
BIO/EA YOU MUST ALSO GIVE YOUR SUBSCRIBERS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR A FULL REFUND OF ANY PREPAID IN ADVANCE SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PREPAID EXPANSIONS BEFORE YOU MAKE THIS MOVE

uhhhh hate to rain on your parade unless you get like 10,000 sigs EAWARE won't even pay attention because 10,000 isnt even 1% of the playerbase according to EAWARE which apparently has "2 million" accounts

It is almost like EA is attempting to localize its entire player base on either NA or European servers...
...now why would a company that is not experiencing high-level officer turn-over in the aftermath of an investor panic over a failing multi-million dollar venture want to do that?

I completely sympathize. As someone who plays on the NA servers, I'm finding myself less inclined to play anymore, because the populations in all areas are so thick. Have to wait for mobs and items to respawn.
But here's a little secret: 499,999.
If membership numbers fall below that, the game gets scrubbed.

I see those numbers regularly on dalborra and I play on dalborra, and its better anecdotal evidence then crap you have come with.

But again this whole thread/arguement is a invalid anyway because we're finally getting moved to Servers with A HEALTHY POPULATION!

Really. Strange it had 110+ on Monday night at 730pm Sydney time, plus about another 70 in zone on Ilum when I was doing my Dailies.
Compared to when I was last on Harbinger it had 10 ppl on at the same time 3-4 months ago.
Proof?, Evidence? or IMO just wild speculation because what you are sayin seems very VERY unlikely

And? What does that extra 90 people add? We choose the oceanic servers because the ping would be better and the chance the population would be a lot lower then the US, you don't seem to understand that. We knew the consequences of our choice and we are living with those choices fine, just the incredibly ignorant and loud minority group your in just seems to happy that you can't make up you're mind and letting biofail do that.
Well now Biofail have made that choice for you. So again not happy about the solution QQ and leave the game..simple

You haven't talked to people on the Gav Daragon server, haven't you. I am a regular on this server and as far as I'm aware or that I know, most of the players are unsubscribing or are about to unsubscribe from SWTOR, when (or if) this happens. Most people don't want to, but that's the price of Bioware's stupid (and downright crazy) decision.
You're the first GD person that I know of is against it, and im sure there's others but sorry 10 people out of 50 isnt that much lol

Just out of curiosity was this recently cause there was this little thing called the gree event on so if it was of course fleet numbers would be down.

So we have to give up our latency which is a factor for online games, for a solution that doesn't benefit a majority of Dalborra a least. I bet you've never had to deal with being bull******* by lag, but then again you're probably a low latency privileged, yet stupid American who wouldn't understand what its like to play online games outside your own country.
Also it's not 1hr+ queues for pvp on Dalborra, but HURR DUURRRR IM AMERICAN I KNOW EVERYTHING.
And also I have played on American servers and the lag sucks.
Wrong i'm australian and what i've been saying makes more sense than your stupid logic "ERMMAEGRDDD MY PING is GOING TO BE 180-200 UNPLAYABLE, **** this game and **** EAWARE for fixing the population issues HURR DURRR (see i can look internet funny aswell ***)" granted it's not the most ideal solution but it's a still a solution which is better than playing on ghost town servers like MDN and GD
And it seems that only Dalborra players are butthurt about it from what I can see MDN and GD are actually glad but no you can't let go of ur lil tight knit community
BTW buddy Dalborra had like 80 people on the pub fleet on a monday night at "primetime" and the imp fleet wouldnt of been much better which..sorry to burst your bubble is a dying server. stop living in denial the APAC servers are dead/dying and there's not anything you, me or any other apac player can do about it. How so? It'll be 1-3am over there, so you're not going to see a huge difference in queue times. For that slight bonus, you're getting inferior game performance on unstable servers.
Personally, the juice isn't going to be worth the squeeze.
Well i've played on the Harbinger and Queues pop in under 1 min PVP and Group finder
Much better than 30 mins +

I believe you are speak for a small minority of people on our servers, however, unlike you, I won't state my opinion as fact. That is the reason for the petition. A petition, whilst not as clear to point out a preferred solution as a survey, is quicker, and easier to implement. If a large enough portion of the available community signs the said petition, it becomes statistically significant to the point of being indisputable. If there is a lack of numbers signing it, it will be insignificant. Let me just say, this one is currently looking like it will be in the significant category.

Well GLHF as it's going to fall on deaf ears because EAWARE have made their decision.
Remember the last time a petition went around about an EAWARE GAME and its horrible ending? that was the biggest community backlash to any game in the history of video gaming and did EAWARE change it? Nope they just threw a band-aid on and threw in a few cutscenes to give everyone someone closure (and to date people are still whinging about it)
Was that perticular petition Successful **** no, and neither will this one be.
I'm not defending EAWARE they're stuffed the APAC community around with leaving us in the dark and stalling im just glad to playing with...wait for it..*drumroll* PLAYERS! which is the biggest issue for the APAC community which they are going to FIX! ping or timezones blah blah etc dont mean **** if you can't play with other players. Jesus Christ! why is it so hard for everyone to accept this? If you don't like the solution Don't Play the game..Simple

Yay - we get to play with a handful of wired meth-heads and insomniacs who got bored of the 3am movie. That's totally worth getting the shaft. (Just be thankful you got anything... last time I heard that, was when my brother punched me for Christmas. Didnt work then, either.)

A petition won't do anything but waste your time lol. They don't care what you all think about it and frankly I think it's childish the reaction you're all giving. Sure a merge would have been sweet but for such low populations in apac servers it wouldn't be worth the money keeping a server in Australia.
The ping increase won't be as bad as you're crying about and we get to play in servers that have people in it.
I'm glad they're sending my characters to servers where there won't be huge wait queues.
Good luck trying to make eaware care about a few list subs.

all this whinging on the forums isnt going to change anything if you're not happy with the solution then by all means leave and stop posting garbage on the forums making the rest of the APAC community look bad.
But if you're like myself then just be happy that something is being done and we can now play with other people because less than 100 people on either fleet is a dead server, I know Dalborra looked ok but it was losing players and heaps of AU players have just re rolled on the US servers because unlike you they realise actually playing the game with a good pop is far more important than ping, playstyle and timezone isssue
Let me be the first to actually THANK EAWARE for doing something, because you all sound like a bunch of children who didnt get what they want for christmas (just be thankful you got anything at all)

I'm seeing a lot of people here trying to speak on behalf of everyone else here. Firstly I'm seeing people from dalbora saying there's no population problems. Try playing on gav daragon if that's the case and see what it's like to be in group finder for hours at a time during peak times without a pop.
For the people complaining about ping times - Like many people I played on a US server for several months before apac servers even existed and I never remember having a big problem with ping. Only reason I moved to the APAC servers when that option presented itself was so I could play on a server with people in the same timezone. Perhaps ping an issue is if you're hardcore pvp but then again hardcore pvpers have a habit of forgetting that the game doesn't revolve around pvp. I had to laugh at the people saying they'd go back to wow because of ping. Wow as far as I'm aware has never had servers physically hosted in australia. Their apac servers are hosted overseas so the ping is no different from their US servers. And considering how much that game has sucked since cataclysm I'm not interested in going back there.
My only problem with this announcement is how long it's taken. Promises about action began in the middle of last year which is about how long ago the NA servers were merged to fix their population issues. Should have just done ours back then rather than the whole 'wait and see how FTP pans out'. I wish we had a choice of servers to go to. There's more than on RP server for instance and I'd rather go to the one that the people on my old server ended up on rather than just being shifted on to a particular one.

Agreed. I'm upset, and not very happy with the solution they've chosen, but of course I'm still going to play and subscribe. It's a 0.1 - 0.2s ping increase and I like the game.
Exactly it's not that great of a solution but right now with my toons on MDN are sitting idle waiting over an hour for PVP matches 0.1-0.2 is really not that bad at all
