  1. My two main gals are my Jedi Sage (level 40) and Sith Sorcerer (level 45), so my opinions are based on my experiences with them... My favorite Zone: Hoth. I always love the frozen tundra type areas in RPGs. Most Hated Zone: Aldreraan. It's "pretty" enough. My utter disdain of it is related to the storyline. I strongly dislike ALL of the families there and would prefer not to help any of them. If I could, I'd nuke the planet from orbit and bypass it completely...
  2. I would love to have a Cosmetics system and UI Customization options similar to LoTRO here, as well... so... /signed
  3. Yep. My Husband and I are also in the over 40 crowd here. Heck, I was in my 30s back when I started playing MMORPGs and AC/EQ were new...
  4. I played DAoC a lot longer post launch than I did WoW. What killed DAoC for me was the horrible expansion - ToA. I'd play a DAoC2 in a heartbeat (only PvP in any MMORPG that was worth a da** and I loved my lurikeen!). You couldn't pay me enough to go back to WoW or play a WoW2.
  5. I'm actually used to a lot more running around and it taking much longer to get from point A to point B in MMORPGs... I find travel time to be quite minimal here. /shrugs
  6. I played SW:G from launch until about a year after, long before NGE. There were some things that I liked about it... *My two character builds were a lot of fun (Teras Kasi/Chef Wookiee and Pistoleer/Dancer, Ballgown wearing Rodian) and unique. *The best housing system of any MMORPG to date. My Gals had fun places to live in... My Wookiee had her diner on a remote lake (next door to her Teras Kasi/Engineer Wookiee spouse) and my Rodian had a small place on a cliffside. *Good side (only) of crafting: vendor at diner to sell products (when anyone was out that way... which was before any type of vehicles were even in the game...). Planets were huge when you had to run everywhere... *The cantinas were lively and fun. Could always find a RPer or two in 'em. Examples of things I didn't like: *One character per server. Way too limiting. *Bad side of crafting: having to log in every single blasted day to keep the stupid blankity blank blank harvesters going AND half of the chef recipes called for milk which was a blankity blank blank rarest of rare drops. And, no, I couldn't collect milk from creatures in the wild myself or have a pen of 'em behind the diner, even though that would have been more logical. Grrrrr! *Although I had no desire to play a Jedi there, I found the whole "unlocking" process to be a big slap in the face to roleplayers/conceptual character creation. Master a skill, unlearn it "just because" over and over again. Blech. One of the worst ideas ever. Overall, it was a good game and had its bright spots. I'm just not as nostalgic for it as many seem to be... I'd rank it at #6 for the MMORPGs that I've played through the years. Nowhere near as good as DAoC (pre-Toa) which I'd rank at #1, but better than WoW which I'd rank at #8...
  7. The only other Star Wars game that I've actually played prior to SW:TOR was SW:G (from launch for about a year, quit long before NGE)... My Husband, on the other hand, was on the development team for a couple of SW games and has played quite a few of 'em.
  8. I saw the original Star Wars at the drive-in when I was a kid and it was new. I've seen it, TESB and RotJ multiple times since then. However, the "prequel" movies... I've seen each of them exactly once and have no desire to watch any of them a second time. /shrugs
  9. I started playing MMORPGs way back in 1999 (AC/EQ) as a way to get together and do some adventuring online with RL friends, many of whom I had done a lot of PnP gaming with that had less time due to family constraints or had moved away. I did not start playing them to "meet strangers".
  10. I'd actually use the server forums if I could filter by individual server name...
  11. over and over and over again... Even there, though, I never felt the need to announce to anyone outside of my friends/guildmates about it... and not always then... /shrugs
  12. I think that Character Creation/Customization in SW:TOR is fine, though I'd like to see other (including smaller) races added in the future. When I have the option of smaller races, I've tended to favor them (since my early days of PnP gaming... My first 1st edition AD&D character was a gnome... ). PvP isn't much of a factor to me, as the only MMORPG in which I've actually enjoyed and participated in it frequently was DAoC in which I played my Lurikeen and Brit equally.
  13. Not only that, they ruined the look of my Troll Shaman...
  14. I played EQ. It was my second MMORPG. However, the only MMORPG that I truly get nostalgic over is DAoC, pre-ToA...
  15. I'm originally from Green Bay. My Husband is originally from Madison. We both are graduates of UW-Madison. However, we now reside in San Francisco.
  16. My problem with Relics and quickbars is that half of the time, logging out with that character removes them... Having to place them back into the quickbars time and time again is a tad annoying... I assume others have this issue as well and that it's a known bug?
  17. I've been playing MMORPGs since 1999, starting with AC and EQ. I started out simply disliking and avoiding underwater zones as much as possible. Along came the ToA expansion for DAoC. Since then, I've outright HATED them. As such, I hope they are never added here. My two cents... YMMV, of course.
  18. If I'm standing in front of a named NPC spawn and it's obvious we're both there for the same specific objective, a blind invite is fine. However, if this is NOT the case, it is NEVER okay to send me a blind invite. A polite inquiry as to if I'm on the same questlines or if I'd like to fellow up for a bit (that means in REAL WORDS, no "u grp plz") will get a response from me and I'll either accept or decline politely.
