  1. In the now-released version, when the Schematic quest early on says "Hint: Search the Mainframe area for clues", I couldn't find the clues, either. But my wife did! Knowing what to look for, I've been able to find it on later characters. (Related tip: Characters who have not yet reached the Kessan's Landing story line and missions, can still do the schematic missions for the reputation.) The hint does indeed finger the three targets. The datapad can appear in at least two places in that area, and is not visible unless you're at that stage of the mission.
  2. Sure, so I killed one. Then a few more. Then I tried dragging them near the terminal to see if I needed to make them die nearby. The "information" I needed -- not available in-game -- was that there was no particular trick, just bad luck with the RNG. I killed 10-15 before one happened to drop the battery for me.
  3. This has started happening a lot more often for me recently. Admittedly I'm on a new PC (Windows 11), but it was running SWTOR okay for at least a week or so before I began seeing the launcher get stuck around Sept 28 or 29. I found the "Windows 8 compatibility" workaround in the forums and it worked for me, but as you say it seems to come back, if not every update then at least for some. Tonight (Oct 8th) the launcher got stuck again checking for updates, and I found that my shortcut for launching the game no longer had the checkbox for Windows 8 compatibility. I had to check it back on multiple times -- it seemed each time I tried running it, it got stuck again and I'd look and it had become unchecked again; very strange. Eventually I managed to make it stick and the launcher came up okay -- for now.
  4. I had not had any trouble recently with the launcher, until yesterday. When I first set up my current Windows 11 box about a month ago, I had an issue that was fixed by installing an older version of DirectX9, but since then it had been fine. Yesterday the launcher got stuck forever checking for updates. (Not a restart loop, just spinning.) I tried restarting the launcher, rebooting the computer, and downloading the launcher that lets me access a Repair option; still stuck. Then I found this thread and saw the suggestion to set Windows 8 compatibility. That fixed the problem. I checked with my wife who runs Windows 11 on a Mac and she had run into the same issue and had given up; we tried the Windows 8 fix and it worked for her also.
  5. A new season has begun, and the Eternal Championship has finally been fixed -- it used to be buggy if done with multiple players -- but GSI Weekly still says it's going to reset at the same time as all the dailies.
  6. Did you ever find the nearer calibration spot? I spent some time looking for it today but had to resort to the distant marked spot as usual. (Next time I'll bring a stealther so I can explore without all those pesky mobs interrupting!)
  7. Six years later, one begins to suspect this is not going to change. :-( I can even understand why. It's related to that comment about pets adding to the lag in raids. If everyone always had pets out I can imagine it would affect gameplay. It's too bad, really. I got a character the Beastmaster title and now her mounts and pets (and companion) are beasts, but she often doesn't bother with pets since they vanish so often. And yes, it affects my CM purchases.
  8. I already bumped another thread that asked for this, but this one summarizes my reasons quite well. I too have a character who, after acquiring pets indiscriminately for some time, acquired the title Beastmaster and now wishes to summon only random beasts, never droids.
  9. Bump. I had been claiming all available pets, including the May 4th droids, on all my characters. Then I achieved the title "Beastmaster" for my legacy, and chose a character to wear it. Now I would like that character to summon only beasts for pets, but "summon random pet" of course sometimes chooses a droid. I would like a way to "disown" the inorganic pets, or else have a "favorites" list as I do for speeders (which I also limit to beasts for this character).
  10. No, nobody is any more screwed than anybody else. Everybody starts with 0/1500. I finished last year at 110/1000, and I hugged 10 tonight and am at 120/1000 and 10/1500. My previous 110 don't count toward the 1500 any more than your 1000 do. All I'm getting is that now, every hug counts toward both the 1000 and the 1500.
  11. Ah ha! Thank you for figuring out the encoding. Though I know I had completed some sets, and when I checked one of those it showed 124/1 Wrists instead of 127 as I'd expect from your description.
  12. I agree. (I saw your earlier post where you didn't name the boss, and was catching up on the rest of the thread before replying.) I've done that fight twice now. Some of the adds are immune to AoEs, some might be affected but I could never make much of a dent and could not target them for larger powers. I ended up mostly self-healing and "not standing in stuff", and using the added skill button when it seemed appropriate. That kept me busy enough (especially the "not standing" part) that I didn't have time to look for debuffs or other effects telling me what any of those adds were doing. Speaking of healing, I couldn't figure out who was keeping the various NPCs alive, but at one point I swear all the green healing showing up on them and me were from the adds! (Some "Rage of So-and-so", I think?)
  13. I'm pretty sure that until recently the way Recalibrating an Amplifier worked was, I'd click to Recalibrate it, and it would show a price around 21K (for a level 306 piece) and offer two choices. If I didn't like those I could click again, and it would show a slightly higher price (around 22K) and two new choices. I could repeat this until I saw a choice I liked, at which point I could select it, pay the last amount shown, and get the new Amplifier. Recently, though, it seems to have gotten a lot more expensive. I have to PAY the initial 21K to see the first two choices, then I can pay 22K MORE to see two more choices, then 23K for two more, etc. So if I churn through a dozen choices to find one I want, I'm paying over 250K instead of around 35K. That's an enormous change. Am I imagining things, and if not, was this change intended?
  14. I found this thread while searching for questions about KotFE, where matrix shards and their relics have totally disappeared and people definitely want them back! At first I thought maybe they were just getting rid of the items, and I wondered what that meant for the datacrons, which still exist and give new shards if you haven't been there before. But KotFE also changes how datacrons work, and they haven't work out all the kinks yet. I do wonder, though, whether the plan is to make the shards more useful again. Since they don't need all the different stats, they might be able to use the variety to create a broader range of levels? And if they do increase to sets of more than 3 shards, they could even add new shard datacrons on later planets and then have the 4-of-a-kind generate relics competitive with other relics from those places. We'll see once they fix the datacron mess in general.
  15. I saw in another thread someone petitioned and was told the missing relics and shards were due to a bug and will (one hopes) be fixed. It probably is part of the bigger mess they've made of datacrons, in which all my characters -- even at level 2! -- already have all the datacron lore codex entries, and are "no longer able to access" datacrons if they've been done by my legacy (which means all of 'em). I didn't try sending my level 2 to check the matrix shard datacron on Tython, though. Anyway, I hope they straighten out the mess, and I really hope they end up making it like Bestiary and other types of lore, where each toon keeps its own codex but once per legacy is enough for the achievement.
