  1. The "ready check" feature is not needed. It would be nice to have, and they should add it when they can, but there are so many other things that need attention first. If that feature came out tomorrow there would be dozens of threads saying "You wasted your time on THIS instead of fixing XXXX!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!11!1!11" BW can not win with most of the people on the forums.
  2. Just to be fair, you do not have to pay for the security key. I have the smart phone app for my security key, did not pay a dime for it and it allows me to use the security key vendor. I agree with what you said, just wanted to point that out.
  3. Never that. The agent story is so BAD that I still shudder when I think about it. I will never level another agent.
  4. Could you also add me to your ignore list? I will do the same. Tickdoff is the name.
  5. You can also shift+ L click on a quest name to link it into chat, such as "DPS LFG <random Heroic 4 on a planet>".
  6. You are correct, but there is a little more to it. If an item can have an augment slot then a crit will put the slot on the item. SO a "Custom Built Lightsaber" will get a slot. If an item can not have a slot, then you should get 2 of that item on a crit roll. So if an Artificer makes a "Might hilt 8" and rolls a crit he will get 2 of them. It is not just limited to Cybertech and Artifice.
  7. Back in January I used Fraps to record my attempts at REing an item. I RE'd 134 of the same green to get it to blue. I was pretty annoyed by this. Of course I got the next 2 blues from that green in about 10 more tries, and got several purples (including the one I wanted) quickly as well. I know I should have just given up when it took me so many greens, but I decided that I would NOT let the game beat me. Irrational, but there it is.

I feel that it would be a good idea for SW:TOR to adopt this aspect of the hybrid model as well. Copy and paste from my question in the General page.
  9. Good idea, copy and pasted this question to that thread. Thanks
  10. They dropped that restriction a long time ago. You can now level to 20 in DDO without paying a dime. (note that 20 is the max lvl in DDO and is basicly lvl 80 or 100 depending on how you look at it)
  11. Let me take a crack at this: You're a blind fool. Keep holding on to what little bit of hope you have. It's ok, I did too, untill this announcement. F2P people will play to 50. <Then> Say "Hey, great RPG, <but> where's the MMO at? Hmm, and sorry, GW2 starts F2P with 5 times the content. HAHA!." Sure, sure this game will be fine. *skips away drooling* I would think that instead of "skipping away drooling" that you were actually drooling on the keyboard, I suggest that you admit to that as it at least gives a reason for your poor post. You should read up on the hybrid payment MMOs (assuming you read better than you write), the move to a hybrid model is not the end of the world.
  12. I agree with you there They really should do something about that. But the new fleet bases are pretty cool. But the community there is even worse than the community here, as hard as that is to believe.
  13. To be fair, STO is much better than it was. It is still not "great", but it is enjoyable for a while. COH and DDO are (to me) the prime examples of what a hybrid F2P model can do. COH is consistantly getting better and DDO just released their largest expansion. So the thought of "no new content with F2P" is assinine. *COH has been good for a while, IMO, but despite being good, the developers seem focused on attaining "great", and the fact that few MMOs that have been around that long are still improving....
  14. Considering that my Legacy name is Nerfherder I do not mind when people use that emote Of course my toons are "Tickdoff Nerferder" and "Imnota Nerfherder" among others.
  15. There also needs to be a better way to sort schematics. Basicly, they need to improve all of the tabs and search functions. The GTN is working now, but it could be so much better, and less tedious.
  16. If they don't make money then the game goes away. And allowing people to earn a small amount of Cartel Coins can actually help them make more money. This is what happens in STO and DDO, the only games with this system that I have experience with. If you are a F2P person then it becomes much more attractive to you to buy thise last 100 coins to make a desired purchase instead of waiting another month. Of course many people will not spend any real money on the game, that happens in DDO quite a bit. But the game is making far more money now than it was before.
  17. I am not opposed to the upcoming switch to a hybrid payment model, however, I do have a question. Will it be possible to earn "Cartel Coins" through in-game activities? 18. Actually, F2P will make it to lvl 50, and I assume that they will be able to finish all the story quests on Corellia and Ilum. But they will not be able to do operations, probably not have access to Hard Modes, and will have vastly restricted access to Warzones and Flashpoints.
  19. Paying a subscription to an MMO is like paying membership dues to a private club. If you do not pay, you do not get in. If that club then decides to offer free membership to 80% of the club and create a "Member's Only" room for people who pay dues, then you have 2 options: Either continue to pay dues and take advantage of the benefits, or do not pay dues. If you do not pay then you gain 2 more options: Enjoy what every other non-paying member has access to, or leave. If you own the club (or game) then you would have a say in what happens, but you do not own this game. So you can either live with the decisions that are made by the Devs/management, or you can leave.
  20. More good points I hope/expect that many of those options will be free to subscribers, but purchaseable for F2Pers. ANd do not forget that those of us that have been here for a while (since beta for me) stand to get a nice bonus in Cartel Coins as well. For the soloist that has been here since launch those points might be enough to buy what they want and then go F2P without losing out. But again, as you and I (and others) have said, we just need to wait for more details to be released.
  21. Because some people think that the Multiplayer part of MMO is all that matters. And they think that the only reason to play an MMO like this is to group up for PvP and raids. "Think about how stupid the average person is. Then realize that, by definition, half of humanity is dumber than that." (paraphrased from George Carlin, RIP) I know several people that prefer to play MMOS as a mainly solo experience, but they still feel like part of the community. While they may not group with others very often, they use the market to buy and sell, may help out a passerby in trouble, offer advice or witty comments in chat, etc. Just because they do not choose to group up does not make them any less of an "MMO player", and they should be treated with the same respect that the "hardcore raiders" expect.
  22. Good points. But the question is "Do I get more of what I want from paying the subscription and receiving the monthly stipend, or should I unsubscribe and use the $15.00 a month to purchase MORE cartel coins to buy more of what I want?" And I think the only answer right now is "Wait and see." Either way is a perfectly viable option and continues to support the game. But, if the solo player will not take advantage of the content that is unlocked by a monthly sub then it *might* be better to just buy extra cartel coins and spend them as he sees fit. *My thoughts are that the monthly stipend will be much less than the number of coins $15.00 will buy, every F2P MMO that I have seen (that uses the hybrid model) does it this way, but I have no actual information about it, it is simply conjecture.
  23. Or they can make the prices on the Cartel Market not match exactly to the amounts of the desired purchase. STO's cash shop used to be 80 Cryptic Points for $1. Then they switched to 100 Zen for $1. This change was due to the merge with Perfect World. But the prices of the items in the shop ranged from 50 points or so to 4000 points (Cryptic points). When the change happened all prices were increased by 25%, but all the points people already had were also increased 25% to make the change equal for everyone. My point is, there are several ways they can go about pricing items and buying points, as long as the monthly stipend that subscribers get is useful (and allows you to get some high ticket items with a few moths saved up) it will be fine. Unless they really do go for a "pay to Win" model, but I honestly don't see that happening. The devs have to be aware of the negative response to this (by many, but hardly all of the playerbase), and a move to P2W would probably be the kiss of death. Done right this change will be good for the game.
  24. And this is why no one can take forum posts seriously.
